Satellite A660-17F - sensor above the keyboard lights stopped working

Hello

I just got the phone two days ago. The first when turned on by pressing the power button. the small sensor that above the F keys were all lit and when I pressed them Flash and it stay on again. Also the above the mouse/Touchpad sensor and satellite on the lower left corner logo lit up.
Then I found some software toshiba is not suitable and I uninstalled applications.
Then I realized that these sensor lights are out now, they work, but they are not on all the time, only when I press it. Before they were all lit like the power button as well as the logo and the light above the touch pad.

Do you think the problem is that I uninstalled some of the toshiba applications or is it something else? If it is a demand that it is?

Thank you in advance?

EDIT: Sorry I found the answer to this problem - after reboot go to bios and turn on the illunination.

    Hey Buddy,

The controls above the keyboard are controlled by added value package. I think something has confused by VAP so that you can t use controls more.
Usually if you reinstall VAP keys should work again

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

That s the page where you can download.
But before you install the latest version, remove the current one and restart the laptop. Then install the latest version of VAP.

Always try a PS/2 keyboard.  Maybe your PC is not able to access the BIOS, because the keyboard is USB.

  • Satellite A100 - line number on the keyboard does not work when you enter the password

I have an A100 / Pro A100 series satellite laptop, what ever that means.
Anyway, when you turn the laptop on and asked for a password, I am unable to put in number.
It appears to the integer line, including BACKSPACE don't work.

I can use the mouse to select and remove, but that leaves a mark of character in the password box.
Other buttons work except the row number.

If I need to connect an external keyboard to verify where I connect (if I can)?
    Any help would be great.

  • Satellite P850-12Z - several keys on the keyboard has stopped working

    Hi all

It all started a month ago or not.
My keyboard of laptop (a Toshiba Satellite P850-12Z) began to fail. First was the BACKSPACE key, but subsequently was the numeric keypad 3 key and the Enter key.

They start working if I hit them several times about 10 seconds or more. You can imagine it's very annoying and frustrating.

Do I need a new keyboard? For more information, the keyboard fails also under linux.

In case I need a new keyboard I think that Toshiba was of very poor quality, and I will never buy a Toshiba again.

My last laptop was from another brand, and the keyboard never lack in 5 years.

    > Do I need a new keyboard?

    Probably yes.
Connect the external keyboard and check if its not working properly.

If the external USB keyboard works, so is there a problem with the keyboard controller but with internal keyboard.

Could something be turned on/off? Virus? or the use of the guarantee?

    Any ideas appreciated

    Hello

Well, it can happen that some keys stop working after several months and you can't do anything.

You must contact the authorized service provider for a new keyboard because some individual keys can be exchanged, only the entire keyboard.
Your laptop is only 6 months old, and then the repair is covered under warranty. :)

On the Toshiba page, you can find a list of ASP.

  • Satellite C650 - several keys of the keyboard do not work

    I have a problem with my * hot key * doesn't work does not, as well as a few others like the * key of z and *-* / *? * * | *
In order to use them, I have to use the keyboard to screen on which is rather annoying. My sliders on the keyboard keys do not work either, I have to use the sliders on the numeric keypad. I have the BIOS updated and the correct keyboard language.

Is there anything else I can do to remedy this?
A new keyboard would still fix this problem?

I put t know how old your laptop is but if the warranty is still valid contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and let them study this and replace the keyboard.

What you can do as the ultimate test is to install the original recovery image and test the functionality with the factory settings. If the problem persists next step should be the replacement of keyboard.

  • The audio controls on the top of the keyboard has stopped working.

At the top of the keyboard controls that control the volume mute and sound stopped working.  The machine is a Pavilion dv7 Windows 7.  Sound keys are light up and when the machine starts and stops the symbol for the 'secret' change to red.  After booting the machine it turns on but does not work.  I was wondering if these controls are selectable by software and I stop them inadvertently.

    Hello

Try a Hard Reset as follows.

Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery, connect the power adapter and start Notepad.

  • Half of the keyboard does not work

Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop. Windows XP

On my laptop, the keyboard started to do funny things. First of all it would be bouble type a few letters. Then, almost half of these on the side right of the keyboard has stopped working. (Does not: 9.0,-, o, p, [, l,., /]) I installed two new keyboards (from two different vendors, however made by the same manufacturer in China), no change. The technician of Microsoft in India couldn't help either. Any suggestions?       Mike

    Hi Mike,.

    1. have you used a wired or wireless keyboard to check the question?

2 are you able to use other usb devices?

If you used a wired keyboard, then try to use a wireless keyboard and check if the problem occurs.

You can also try to check the keyboard on the screen and if the problem persists.

  • Numbers of wired keyboard has stopped working

I have a keyboard attached to a wired Macbook Pro Apple. The keyboard worked fine for a year apart from the occasional glitch when it stops working, I add an extension of cable and it starts working again.  However, all of a sudden the numbers on the keyboard at the top of the keyboard have stopped working (but - and = work). the keyboard on the right continue stop work very well.  I think the function keys work always.  Someone at - it ideas?  It's driving me crazy! Tried to restart and don't Scream - no luck so far.

Hello Lloyd C from the United Kingdom.

If I understand you right, the numbers on the wired Apple keyboard that you have connected to your MacBook Pro stopped working. We know that it's never ideal to have a device that does not work as expected, we are happy to help you get the keyboard to work again.

The first thing I would recommend, first and foremost, is to update your Mac if there are updates available for the version of Mac OS X, you're running. Follow the steps in the article to support below if you are not familiar with how to update. For the purposes of troubleshooting, whenever you test your keyboard after you follow the steps that we provide, make sure that it is while the keyboard is connected directly to the USB port built-in on your MacBook and not connected to a USB hub. In addition, disconnect all other devices you have plugged into your Mac, besides than the charging cable under test.

Update the software on your Mac

If the problem persists after the update, the next step would be to reset the system management controller (SMC). The MSC is a part inside your MacBook, who helps run various physical parts of your computer, and resetting can sometimes help the problems associated with the keyboard and USB functions. The support article below contains the steps on how to reset the SMC.

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

Test the keyboard after that the MSC has been reset. If the problem persists, follow the steps in the "Steps to a USB keyboard" section in the following article:

If your USB keyboard or wireless does not work

Remember that it's always a possibility that the issue could be with the keyboard itself. If you continue to have problems with certain keys, try to connect the keyboard to a different Mac, if you manage to and see if you experience the same problems.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Take care!

  • Dell bluetooth keyboard has stopped working

I have a dell keyboard and mouse bluetooth.  The mouse works fine, but the keyboard has stopped working. Batteries are fine. Cannot 'discover' the keyboard because I don't seem to have any device options 'bluetooth' in my control panel devices. Any ideas?

Contact Dell or just buy a new keyboard.  Wired are really not expensive - I bought one for $9 that works very well.

    Good luck.
