I found that when this happens my keyboard stops working properly, but if go into control panel--> change keyboard and just click on all (not to change anything just open & then close) it seems ok again for a while. I tried to plug in a USB keyboard, but it's the same leading me to believe it's a software problem not hardware.

  When you say 'Restore factory settings', do you mean that you want to restore your A30 to its original condition, with original OEM software installation etc. That you could do it using the recovery CD, but this will remove one of your own data and software as well as raw product updates that you can download.

  Is it just that you have a problem with your system that may be corrected, rather than do a full restore?

  Usually, if another operating system is installed, you are not able to start the recovery of HARD drive more but you can try holding down the Zero key as Akuma writes.

  If it doesn't work your only option to restore factory settings is Toshiba recovery disc. If you n t have it order a service allowed in your country. On Toshiba site is a list with all FSA.

  I read that you can not afford to pay for a new disk recovery, but on the other side, I have to tell you didn't had the time to read the manual and you have to pay for that mistake. If I buy a new computer, TV or other media device I still have time to read the user's manual first and everyone knows how important it is. ;)
