Satellite C650D - is slow on dial-up connection

The only thing that I downloaded on the computer is Microsoft Word and I set up an email for my daughter (it is his birthday present!) we're on dial-up, so I know it will be slow but crikey, it's ridiculous. My own desktop computer Windows XP (2and a half old) is faster than that on dial-up. There must be something I'm missing here?

I have the external modem for my dial connection and obviously works, all advice out there? I thought that the purchase of a laptop computer at a reasonable price would be a sinch. Just plug in and go hmmm. Not happy right now that I can't work it out, any link online I takes forever to download, and I went online at all hours just in case of use by consumers.

Hi auntysooty,

Just be sure: you mean only the dial-up connection that is slow or the whole notebook?

In my opinion, every dial-up (modem) is slow because most of the Web sites have several graphics and a large number of media files.

Don t know what say, but you can try to update the driver for the modem. You can download the latest version at the official site:

    Hey,.

I had a similar problem with a slow speed WLAN and the problem was characteristic of energy saving wireless network card. I disabled the WLAN power save option and set a maximum performance for each power profile of Windows and even on battery mode. After restarting the computer, I had speed N of complete project with my router.
Here is an article on the Windows energy saving features. Here you can check where you will need to disable this WLAN energy saving feature:

  • Re: Satellite C650D - factory settings and drive recovery different?

HI - have had problems with the Satellite C650D model for a few months - very slow, a lot of viruses, constantly crashing, updates constant, constant "cannot connect windows" and "windows try to repair your system" problems. I have reinstalled factory for the laptop several times, but the problems keep occurring - should I buy a recovery disc - is - it different for recovery system installed? Thank you

    > I have reinstalled factory for the laptop several times, but the problems keep occurring - should I buy a recovery disk > - is - it different for recovery system installed?
Recovery DVDs contains the same recovery image as image stored on the HARD drive, so there is no difference.

To be honest I don t understand what may be the problem.
Can you please tell us what you did exactly (reinstalled factory settings)? I mean how did you do that?

  • Satellite C650D - I can print photos, but can not print text

I have the Satellite C650D I can print photos on my printer but cannot print text.

    How can I fix?

To be honest I don't think that is the related issue of Toshiba and you should check with the manufacturer of the printer. They should help you with these questions.

We do not know what printer you have and what you're doing exactly, but if the printer is installed, recognized and correctly connected everything should be OK, especially if you use Office Word and you want to print a document.

Sorry, but after reading your problem description one sentence, it is not possible to say anything that will help you.
Contact the manufacturer of the printer s technical support and try to clarify this.

  • Satellite C650D/006: LAN driver not installed in win 7 installation custom

Hi everyone, I bought a laptop Satellite C650D/006 yesterday from the original owner and he is 5 months old, but I don't like the installation of Windows 7 Home premium 32 bit OEM toshiba so I deleted from the hard drive and installed a complete installation customized windows 7 Edition home premium 32-bit and active with the OEM - COA key on the laptop.

    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/products/notebooks/satellite/C650D/psc16a-006011/overview#details

After installation, I noticed that the LAN controller has not been installed in Device Manager so I couldn't of internet connection to run automatic updates of microsoft for win 7,

I went to the toshiba website and download the driver of network for this laptop and I installed it manually, and after that the laptop has been connected to the internet via an ethernet cable.

can someone tell me why the LAN Controller software is not installed on this laptop with a custom installation of Windows 7.

even my new dell and HP laptops install this driver when I do a custom installation of Windows 7, so why not this laptop.

    see you soon

    > can someone tell me why the LAN Controller software is not installed on this laptop with a custom installation of Windows 7.

If I understand your message, you have deleted the preinstalled Toshiba OS and installed a clean Win 7 OS in this notebook. Right?
This means that all drivers must be installed after the installation of Windows.
In some cases the Win 7 use standard Microsoft drivers that are part of the operating system and some devices may be recognized automatically, but in most cases you will need to install the correct drivers.

    > even my new dell and HP laptops install this driver when I do a custom installation of Windows 7, so why not this laptop.
Than other cell phones use the same chip as C650 LAN card? I doubt not all laptops use the same LAN chip, which means that different driver must be installed.

  • Satellite C650D is compatible with a wide LED 18.5 inch screen?

    Hello.

Can someone tell me if my laptop above in the subject line reference is compatible with the
Hanns G HL195 18.5 inch widescreen LED monitor.

I want to use my laptop to double title, but do not know if it will work.

If it's compatible how you connect the monitor to the laptop.

    Thank you

    Dean

    Hello

In General, any external monitor is compatible.
But the question is how do you want to connect the external monitor to the laptop

For example the Satellite C650D - 10H supports the port external monitor (RGB port) only.
If you need to use this port to connect the external monitor.

It seems that the Hanns G HL195 18.5 inch widescreen LED monitor supports the VGA input, so you should be able to connect this monitor using normal VGA cable.

  • Satellite C650D - Activate Wi - Fi is turned off and does not turn on

Computer laptop Satellite C650D 006011 will not Wi - Fi switch on, even by Conectivity doctor or Instructions from Toshiba. F8 key does not appear on the monitor when the FN key pressed to activate a Wi - Fi connection.

Laptop is about 12 months, a Wi - Fi connection worked initially. Have reinstalled the Wi - Fi drivers in an attempt to activate the e-mail... always to turn on Wi - Fi to connect.

If the WLAN card is listed correctly in the Device Manager you should not reinstall WLAN driver. Driver WLAN has nothing to do with ON / OFF feature.

    > F8 key will not show on the screen when you press FN key
Your problem is not WLAN driver and the functionality of the FN.
Add the value of Toshiba install package.

I can't get it for you because the description of the model 006011 C650D is unknown to me. Please recheck the model name and model number. You can find it on the bottom of your laptop placed on the sticker of Toshiba.

  • Satellite C650D - resettlement is stuck

    Hello

I have a Satellite C650D, who became very slow, so I decided to do a clean install.

Everything seemed to go well and it restarted and then he inquires finishing installation. He proceed to install 40, which went well. It seems then automatically repeat (or install another 40 positions), but now it has been blocked for several hours to "Wild Tangent. I tried a reboot of the force and eventually I was able to do restart but it just kept going back to the same place. It is Windows 7.

    Any help please?

I assume you are using original image recovery Toshiba for new OS install, right?
Use you the installation of HARD drive or a DVD recovery created?

On this path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here, but if you are not able to complete the installation of recovery image would do.

  • Dial-up connection composed very well, but fails to connect to a virtual private network

Original title: Dial-up as Windows or stand alone client connection does not

Dial-up connection or as a windows dial-up or stand alone client does not.

    Problem.

I am trying to use a VPN service.

I did like Windows dial-up, as well as a stand-alone client. It has worked fine until recently.

    Here's what's happening.

    OS: Windows 7.

    1. start the Dial-Up connection. He began to compose...

    2. There is no response or the connection complete...

    3. try to unplug the unit, no response...

4 exit the application (stand-alone client) - she is dead or frozen.

    This slows down other applications.

Prevents the PC from closing. Sometimes it might close but takes normally after about 30 minutes...<10>

None of these problems occur if the dial-up is never started.

I have the same customer and dial-up windows on a computer laptop win 8.1 and it works very well (so far!).

It's obviously windows communication layer/drivers that gets corrupted on win 7 machine?

Anyone know the root cause of this problem and a reliable solution for this? In addition to reinstall Windows from scratch.

    Hi thanks for the reply.

He seems to have righted itself - I tried a lot of things, including several restorations system and this has triggered the automatic update again. I not save the updated KB number, just that it was a critical update for Windows Defender which could not be uninstalled. I checked my history of updates, but it does not appear on it.

I thought that the problem could also be to do with a new version of Java which was held at the same time. Or he could have made the point on my Avast antivirus or a combination of these. Anyway in the end I gave up and figured a full restart would be the only way forward but then, all of a sudden, after a few days the same problem. Dial-up directory started working again without any problem (I'm persevering it).

My original problem was that the dial-up telephone directory would open, I could press on connect and then he would get Strawberry "registering on the network" and it would just freeze and the CPU would be really crazy. Sometimes I'd get a sign "not able to connect you - error number?" if I re-compound and then it worked. Other times I don't have the error message, it just frozen and I had to open the Task Manager to stop it. Then it would work, but will continue a few times after.

Anyway, whatever it is there, for the moment at least, solved itself.

That is sad that computers were the labor saving! HA!

  • Satellite C650D - integrated webcam is locked by another application

When I try to use the webcam on my Satellite C650D I get an error message "device locked by another application". I tried to use it through Skype and get a message "cannot start video, try closing other programs that could use your webcam ', although no other programs use my webcam...

Device Manager does not detect also no error with the camera

    Hey,.

You run the internal webcam software at the same time? If Yes, it could assign the webcam feature in Skype so close to the webcam software before you start Skype and use the webcam.

If it doesn't work try reinstalling the driver for the webcam of the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

But before you install the new webcam software, delete the old first, restart the computer. I recommend also using CCleaner to clean the registry before installing the latest webcam software.
Also, these old registry keys affect the features of webcam CCleaner would be worth a try. :)

  • Need drivers of Windows XP Home for Satellite C650D - 11K

    Hello

where can I find all the drivers for Windows Xp for my Satellite C650D - 11K?

I saw something on the Support page & Toshiba drivers, but the question is: if originally, it installed Windows 7 64 bit, how I can install all drivers for Win Xp (32-bit, I guess)?

    Please help me.

    Thank you.

Your question is really strange. If your laptop is supported for Windows XP Home edition, and it is undoubtedly supported, then install WXP and more later all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities one by one.

Before that, you create the recovery disk using the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator. This disk you can use to install Win7 64 bit in the future when you don t want to use Windows XP Home edition.

    Hello

If your model was not recognized automatically there s no problem because you can search for drivers yourself on the official website of Toshiba:

    Then search for:
    Laptop > Satellite > Satellite C Series > Satellite C650D > PSC16E
