Satellite L300 - hard drive Installer for OS only

When I opened my Satellite L300 the other day I discovered that I have 2 slots hard drive and I have a spare SATA drive. I'm looking to set up a disc for the operating system and the other for all my data. I was told to do it in the BIOS but I don't want to waste time in it because I don't know what to change. This who should I / change?

As much as I know, that you do not make anything in the BIOS. If two hard drives are recognized correctly install own OS on the new created partition C. Later, in Windows Explorer, you will see two hard drives and the second you can for example create two partitions for your data.

There is nothing special, if there's second HARD drive.

    Hey guys,.

I had a quick search, but I'm sorry if this has already been asked and answered successfully... But anyway.

My girlfriend has easily filled its 120 GB hard drive and wants to expand. I see that it can be improved in two other sizes (including the 360 GB), but which is the maximum? I am able to get a hard drive say 500 GB/1 TB in size?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Satellite L300 supports SATA HDDs and this means that there is no capacity limit. So, you can also install disk 500 GB or 1 TB, which should be no problem.

Interface SATA has no capacity limits older IDE interface so Don t worry about the size. Just buy a model that you think that it s ok. It is only important that it s 2.5 HARD drive with SATA interface.

  • Optimal hard drive installation for 3D and animations CS6?

Hello, I am trying to understand the best way to separate the following in different hard disks for better performance...

    -OS (probably Windows 7 or 8 64-bit)

    -Exchange page OS disc

    -Programs (Cinema4D and Adobe CS6)

    -Adobe Media/Disk Cache

    -Project files

    Source/import data files

    -Render/output data files

    So far, I think...

-An internal SATA3 SSD for the OS, OS swap, programs, Adobe Media Cache

-An internal SATA2 HDD for the project and Source/import data files

-USB3 one external HARD drive to render/output files

I wonder if separating the files of a different way would be more optimal, or if adding several SDD HDDs for the Page file and the Media Disk Cache would be us is worth the money. In particular, the OS, OS swap file, programs and media Cache must be divided into different readers?

Here's what I recommend as a starting point for a good system.

    C: System (Windows programs)

    D: projects

    E: cache/Scratch/Previews

    F: media

    G: export

Let alone the pagefile.  You won't see any advantage to move and could potentially ruin things if you do not set this right.

  • Which hard drive buy for my laptop Toshiba Satellite 15.6 "3 GB HD 320?

After receiving an error of 10-FA12 - 054D and do not recover my laptop to zone out, I believe that I have to buy a new hard drive.

Which hard drive buy for my laptop Toshiba Satellite 15.6 "3 GB HD 320?

You can check the Toshiba site for which specifications you need.  A general rule is to buy something at least two times greater than the one that failed, because the data use and therefore the space doubles every 18 months.

You may want to consider a large enough to allow you to make backups and store in another partition

  • Satellite P100: HARD drive sometimes fails to start or just not responding

I have a satellite P100 on xp professional service pack 2. Sometimes it fails to start and appears as if the hard drive just stopped responding, does not require defragmentation.

Checked all Diagnostics pass, can get it started by selecting the boot options multiple F12, HDD that appears first in the list.

Although it seems not take a long time.
Sometimes it seems to stall at the start to the top but picks up then after a few minutes and fortunately sometimes it starts without a problem.

What is data corrupted in the bios? but then why it starts ok sometimes and not others? It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold.

any ideas or help greatly received.

    Hello David

It's a very strange situation, and for me there is no explanation simply. In my opinion the laptop or HARD drive, the functionality must be tested properly. Here in the forum we can speculate just what is the problem here but mobile startup must be tested with the other HARD drive pre-installed with original recovery image.

It will be interesting to know if the problem disappeared with new HARD drive. So what you can do now? If possible, try to get the second HARD drive and do the only testicles or make a call to the authorized service center and explain the situation. If the laptop is guaranteed to be valid, it will be better to check in service because they can replace free HARD drive (if the HARD disk is defective).

Sorry, but I don't see another solution. Some test with the new HARD drive can help you to understand if this happens because of the HARD drive. I don't think that the BIOS can be responsible for the issue described.

  • Get the hard drive just for my laptop DM1

Hi, I need to buy a replacement for the hard drive to my laptop 4341sa DM1. On the system, I found the model like a Hitachi HTS543232A7A384 number. I looked on http://www.shopmania.co.uk/hard-drives/p-hitachi-hts543232a7a384-41617984 and I'm wrong in thinking for a up there would be a suitable replacement, or is there something escapes me in how to buy and replace a hard drive? I changed only ever desktop hard drives before, much easier!

    Thank you

  • Satellite L300 (PSLB8E) - Driver for Ethernet controller

    Hello

I just reinstalled Vista (my records of repair so so borrowed a Vista DVD of lost friends). I have installled the LAN driver (here) and can connect to the internet fine (via cable in any case, as I have no wireless).

Anyway when I go into Device Manager, that the only problem seems to be that there are no installed driver for the ethernet controller, there is no information about drivers when I look in its properties and do not really know what I have to download. If it's something to do with the wireless, I looked at article in the knowledge base on how to determine which type you have and as I said, I can't find any info.
It is not a problem as such, but I want to just correct if possible.

    Thanks fo all help.
    Jim.

    Hi, Jim!

I think he should install the WLAN driver for the laptop. I mean if you can browse the internet via an Ethernet cable, network adapter driver is installed and you are now the WLAN driver.

Then go to the Toshiba page and download the driver for your Satellite L300. The WLAN driver installation can be done in a few minutes, it's really easy.

    Check it!

  • Windows on Satellite M40-276 - no visible HARD drive installation

    Hello

Since the end of the week, I had time to start my Toshiba Satellite M40-276 (PSM44E)...

I installed Windows XP Pro, I don't remember installing any kind of SATA/PATA drivers, but unfortunately Windows Setup does not recognize the hard drive installed, which was never changed.

Now, I have discovered that the hard disk sometimes does not appear in the BIOS?
Is there any type of driver that I can download and include in a Windows installation CD?

When I start the laptop with Knoppix 5.1.1 I can copy and access to all files on NTFS formatted disks, the hard drive itself should be well (im checking with HDD Regenerator v1.51 on a Boot CD for the moment).

And I have another question - y at - it an update of the BIOS for the Satellite M40-276 (PSM44E) which can be flashed on a boot CD? On the official homepage I can only find the update of the BIOS Windows :(

    Thanks for your patience...

    Best regards

    Robert of Austria

    Hello

Have you tried to reinstall the OS from the Toshiba restore CD? Or did you use the clean Windows XP CD?

AFAIK the M40 supports a SATA HDD and the laptop was equipped with a SATA HDD controller.
Windows XP with SP2 should recognize the HARD disk properly.
If your XP doesn t contains SP2 and include it using the program nLite

    > And I have another question - y at - it an update of the BIOS for the Satellite M40-276 (PSM44E) which can be flashed on a boot CD? On the official homepage, I can only find the Windows BIOS update

No, only the win-version of the BIOS is available on the Toshiba page!

  • Compatible HARD drive need for my Satellite L655 - 1 6

    Hey everybody,

my 4 year old Satellite L655 1 g 6 has recently had some problems and the hard drive needs to be replaced.
Does anyone know about a cheap substitute that should not necessarily be the Toshiba?

I don't want to do a SSD hard drive, as this laptop is old enough, and the cost for the ssd would not depreciate in the next years.
Would be very grateful to hear some opinions/suggestions :)

    -Thanks in advance

In general you need is of 2.5 HARD drive with connector SATA and these drives, you can find in every store of the computer. Pick up some info on the proposed models, capacities and prices so that you can make a decision that you want to buy.
    > I don't want to do a SSD hard drive, as this laptop is old enough, and the cost for the ssd would not depreciate in the next years.
In my opinion it's the wrong opinion. Using SSD increase you the performance of laptop computer s quickly and were very quick machine. One day if you do not want to use this laptop, you can remove the SSD and put old HDD inside. SSD can be used on the new machine.
For me, it's the best solution for you.

Last year I've improved my 4 years old P500 with SSD and I m very happy with it. The price was only 149 Euros. It's OK price. Change the HARD drive is not complicated and you can do it alone.

  • Good driver installation for Satellite U400-10 order

I bought a Toshiba Satellite U400-10 opportunity and I would do a fresh install of Vista 64.
The hard drive has been replaced, and I have no recovery disk.

I think I found all the drivers and software from toshiba, but I would like to know if the below installation order is correct or needs to be adjusted. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Toshiba DVD player
    Acoustic silencer of Toshiba
    Toshiba face recognition
    Toshiba Speech System
    Toshiba TEMPRO
    Toshiba product information online
    Toshiba Assist

    Seems ok.
Personally I follow than such orders because especially its any driver is installed initially, but some tools requires the installation of other tools.
Thus, for example, value added package must be installed before you install other software from Toshiba

  • Satellite C660: HARD drive space shows only 20 GB of free?

Toshiba Satellite c660 with 320 GB of disk space, it shows that 2 hard drives or 2 partitions, one called data shows only 20.6 GB of free on 148, but when I go in there I can only find at maximum approximately 50 GB even with all the backups?

    Hello

There are more partitions on the HARD drive.
You can see it in disk management.
Right click on computer and select manage.
Now you should be able to go to the disk management which will show you all the available partitions.

A hidden partition is used for the Windows 7 backup files that are needed to fix the Windows 7 in the case where something goes wrong with the OS.
Then, you can find a Windows partition and the other partition is used for HARD drive recovery. The point is that you are able to run the system recovery from the HARD drive without the use of the recovery disc (recover disk must be created using the recovery disc creator)

  • 160 GB hard drive update for Satellite Pro M70 - 220

I want to upgrade my satellite Pro M70-220 portable HARD drive the current 60 GB HDD to a 160 GB HARD drive and you drive would be grateful if someone could provide information on the standard/type of HARD drive I should like being looking for and, if possible, specific manufacturer's recommendations and the model number of an appropriate 160 GB of disk HARD.

    Thank you

    Hello

The laptop uses a simple 2.5 SATA HDD.
It's not really important what the speed of the HARD drive is supported, but I recommend to use the 5400 RPM or faster 7200 RPM HARD drive

Generally all HARD drive size should be compatible because the SATA controller has no limitations.

  • HARD drive external for Satellite Pro M10

    Hello!!

I would buy an external USB HDD to my computer, but I don't know if I can buy anyone. USB 2.0 is not, but I think that only touch the speed of transfer, no?

    BIOS version 1.50

I find this HARD disk, it'll work?

    Hello

Satellite Pro M10 certainly has USB 2.0 ports, firewire, and IrDA interface. The operating system uses a standard USB Windows driver.
I put t see any problems with the use of the external USB HDD.
    It should work.
But in my opinion, you should buy an external USB HDD that supports an IrDA interface. It s much faster as a USB connection.

However, the operating system must be able to handle the 250 GB external HARD drive

  • HARD drive caddy for old Satellite Pro A10 need

    Hello

I recently bought an old Pro of Satellite A10 but it doesn't have a hard drive or a caddy, anyone know if one of the other Toshiba Notebook Caddy is compatible with this model? I've been watching autour fleabay, but not a lot of Pro A10 caddy out there.

    Any help is very appreciated

    Kind regards
    Carl

Until you find HDD caddy put the HARD drive in place and fix it a bit with aluminum foil, just to be sure it will not move during the use of laptop. Don t cover all HARD drive with just one make smallholders and attach the HARD drive in place.

I did it on my old L300.
