Satellite L300D - no OS cannot be installed

Hey,.

I have a Satelite L300D from a friend and I would like to install Vista on it. Now the problem:

Boots of Vista-DVD - all very well... Then, a few minutes after the development stage it says and error when copying files. OK, so I checked the HARD drive. A FUJITSU - I've found no diagnostic tool for it. I did a RAM test - everything is ok (Memtest86 +). Good so I tried Windows XP. After the installation has been loading a few things, BSOD
Windows 7 32 - bit: crashes on extract the files. The hard drive makes noises, every 5 seconds the same noise. a small click.

I installed the HDD on another laptop and tried to install Vista: no problem. Facilities managed. Same Vista DVD. OK, the ODD is damaged. I tried to install Vista from a USB key. Same mistake. It cannot copy some files. A few minutes while expand step is running.

OK, ODD or HARD drive is broken. RAM is ok. Following idea: AHCI.
I set the SATA Mode on Compatible. Vista starts but crashes and HARD drive makes the same noises. So I tunred AHCI once again. The problem persists. I see the background and cursor and I heard the sounds of the HARD drive.
Return the notebook: Installation ok.

What is the problem? Windows XP/Vista/7 does not work. I'll try Ubuntu, simply test if he has success. I'd like to update BIOS but shit! Windows only. Then, someone has the same problem? What could be wrong?

Hi Commifreak_1,

Normally, if the HARD drive is causing such clicking noises it means that it s defective and replacement needs but you have tested it on another laptop and it worked, which is really strange and I can t understand this

In General if RAM, HDD, ODD is ok and you are still not able to install Windows, it seems to be a problem of serious material caused by the motherboard, CPU or other part.

What you can try is Toshiba recovery disc. If it doesn t work as well it s really hardware problem and you need help from an authorized service provider to get rid of this.

    Hello

    I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on my brand-new u. Satellite L300D-12
So far, everything works fine, but there are two things bother me.

    1. I have problem with suspends to RAM. It does not work. If I use the option to boot, the screen goes black but the laptop is still running (you can hear it).
In addition, nothing happens when I press the power button to exit the sleep option.
I completely close the laptop and restart to be back in Ubuntu.
Maybe someone has some ideas how I can fix the problem?

    My/etc/default/acpi-support have these entries:

    # Comment the following line to disable the ACPI suspend to RAM
    ACPI_SLEEP = true

    # Comment the following line to disable the suspension on disc
    ACPI_HIBERNATE = true

    # Change the following of 'sleep' to use ACPI S1 sleep, rather than S3.
    # This will save less energy, but can run on machines more
    # ACPI_SLEEP_MODE = mem
    ACPI_SLEEP_MODE = standby

    2 battery life
My current maximum battery life is 01:10 hours. On windows, it's 2 hours >. Maybe someone has some ideas of configuration to increase the time of battery under Ubuntu?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello manual

I'm really skeptical about Linux here support. I heard that Toshiba will start with Linux support, but of course, it is not started yet.

If nobody here can offer help I recommend you discuss this on some Linux forum. You have more chance of getting help here.

  • Re: Satellite L300D and Win7 - cannot find the WLAN driver

I have the Satellite L300D (PSLC8C-06T01R) I just got this in the month; I decide to put Windows 7 on thinking there would be all the necessary drivers. Well I was wrong; Once I installed 7 we find all drives but the wireless card. I don't then told me the Vista disks would work on Windows 7 so I tried and no luck, I then put Vista on and everything was fine, then when I went to look for the driver for the wireless card in Vista, it doesn t do anything the card is always 'does not work correctly.

Vista Atheros wireless drivers or something else on the site Web of Toshiba don t do anything.

If anyone has the same problem made me know, or if anyone knows how to fix this or even if it is possible to find the drivers for windows 7 that would be great cuz that s my goal (Windows 7)

Please as soon as possible I need this laptop at the University.

For me, it makes sense to collect all relevant information before you do something again. Obviously you didn't check before installing Win7 Toshiba support page. Until that Win7 is not released Toshiba will offer no tricks of Win7.

As I see you have Canadian cell phone model and I don't know what WLAN card is inside, but in your a story thing confused me. You have installed Vista again. I assume you have done this with original Toshiba recovery image. This recovery image is designed for certain model of laptop and contains all the necessary drivers for all hardware components. I don't understand what the problem with the wireless network card.
I have to ask you if you have installed Vista with the Toshiba recovery image?

    Hello

Because the laptop uses the ATI graphics card, you will need to install the driver of ATI graphics card. I think that you need the driver for the ATI Radeon X 1200 control some pages like omegadrivers.net and similar
The chipset driver is an ATI due to AMD CPU driver.

Audio driver seems to be Realtek.
I recommend that you visit the page of Realtek and download the driver of the page.

  • Update for Windows 7 and BIOS on Satellite L300D-23D

    Hello guys

I ' v just installed Windows 7 32-bit on Toshiba Satellite L300D-23D, I has not installed the update to the BIOS, but everything works fine.
    Can I update the BIOS?
    Thanks in advance.

If everything works well I don't think that you need a BIOS update.
I have Satellite A300 with old BIOS and use Win7 too. No problem at all.

So that everything goes well, I have not yet thinking about the update of the BIOS.
Do not touch the well-executed system. ;)

  • Satellite L300D - error code 19 Device Manager on the CD/DVD drive

I have a model of Satellite L300D PSLC0E and you just install Windows 7 upgrade from Vista, everything goes well outside the HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N ATA DEVICE and ATI. With the HL - DT - ST DVDRAM GSA - T50N ATA DEVICE this a driver problem, it is said it seems to do with NTI Backup 4, tried to update for NTI Backup now 4.5 but still no luck.

With ATI I run updates and reinstalled the program, system check, it shows that it is installed and everything works, but I don't seem to be able to change the display settings most important is 1200 x 800, I seem to think that with ATI there should be more, but not sure because when I start to run a set of changes in the size of the screen to 1024 x 768 , and I can't change anything. Any body any ideas?

    Grommitt60

    Hello

    (1) also tried to remove the capital letters and lowerfilters in the registry? In the forum, I noticed that this does not resolve this error code. On the Microsoft Knowledge Base, you can find a solution for this:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060

    (2) I also have Satellite L300D and the maximum screen resolution is 1200 x 800. So you can set a higher screen resolution on internal monitor, this is possible on the external monitor.
And normally, you can change the resolution of the screen in every game. Check this box!

  • Lost drivers for Satellite L300D Vista

I have a model of Satellite L300D PSLC0E and just cleaned installed with Win 7 vista, all is ok so far but he lost all my drivers for Vista and do not know what I need for drivers win 7.
I had a quick glance for driver downloads, but don't know what to download and what is most important.

If you have the Win7 update you need not additional drivers.
Just if you want to do the new install of Win7, then you have all the necessary drivers.

If you don't have problems with Win7 why you think you need Vista drivers?

  • Can satellite L300D - I install Windows XP?

Can someone help me or tell me the best thing to do?

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L300D two years ago and it broke last year because I hit it a little because of the internet. So I sent offshore to a friend of my uncle, who has replaced the drive with a 35 GB hard inside you. But now, whenever I turn on my laptop I get the blue screen and it cannot cross, he says that windows can be corrupted and is not loading and it says to use the original installation CD, but I don't have one, but I have a Windows XP one and I would make Windows XP instead of Vista.

Is there anything I can do to get it working again? Please help me quickly

    Thank you
    Fabian

    Hey,.

    > use the original installation CD, but I have not a
Yes, because you have to create this disk yourself using preinstalled creator of media recovery Toshiba as mentioned in the user manual.
Have you read the user manual?

You can order a recovery disc that will restore the original settings of the case:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

Of course, you can install Windows XP s no problem. Just make sure you can get all the drivers on the official page of download driver Toshiba. If so, boot from the XP disc and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.

  • Satellite L300D-10B - how to install Ubuntu

Hello. I recently bought a Satellite L300D-10B and I need to install Linux in dual boot in this laptop.

Also, I don't want to lose utilities backup of the laptop has preinstalled, in case of emergency.
Could someone be so kind and tell how to install Ubuntu 8.10 without having to lose the ability to restore the system (for MS vista) during an emergency?

I also read on the internet of Wubi and you?

Wubi is an officially Ubuntu install for Windows. Wubi allows you to only install Ubuntu as a Windows application, in a simple and safe way.
    Check it!

  • Satellite L300D - installed XP and now my wifi does not work

I spent from Vista to XP and now my wifi does not work. I was told that I don't have the drivers.
Can someone help me? I have a Satellite L300D-01N. Please help me, I don't know much about this kind of stuff.

    Thank you

You can download drivers Toshiba from here: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

There is however no driver XP for the L300D. But I found a LAN driver for XP wireless that would work.

    Select:
    Laptop
    Satellite Pro
    Satellite Pro L series
    Satellite Pro L300

    Download and install
-Wireless Lan Driver Realtek Semiconductor Corporation Windows XP 6.1116.1226.2007

If this does not work, you can have an Atheros Wireless LAN card. If this is the case, look at the other models for an Atheros Wireless LAN Driver XP.

  • Satellite L300D-11V cannot find a WLAN

    Ok
I have 2 x Satellite L300D-11V notebook PC series and both have the same problem: they're not detect my network wireless in my house but I've proved the wireless hub using a third PC (HP) and works perfectly.

I ve checked the wireless switch is enabled and made key FN + F8, but it cannot always find a network. I checked the devices in the network adapters and find Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI - E Fast Ethernet NIC but it's a card LAN isn't?

Other devices show a unknown device, but where can I find the wireless device?

    Hello

I don't know what kind of stories you heard in stores, but the fact is that Toshiba offers laptops with wireless network inside card. These laptops come with preinstalled operating system (recovery image) and have factory settings.

This recovery image contains the operating system, all the drivers needed (including the WLAN driver), Toshiba designed tools and utilities and some additional software. So if you buy the new laptop with OS preinstalled WLAN driver is there.

The statement in both stores is a disinformation or there is a misunderstanding.

    Hi John
I'm happy to hear that your problem is now solved. Just FYI: your laptop wireless network card is REALTEK RTL8187B 13CH 802.11(B/G).

    Good bye

  • Satellite L300D - cannot find the XP driver for the graphics card

    Hello

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite L300D and I installed Windows XP (instead of vista, which was preinstalled). I can't find the XP driver for the graphics card... Everest recognizes him as ATI RS690M. A download link will send me straight to heaven!

    Thank you in advance,

    Nikos

PS. of course, I searched the display on the sites of several Toshiba driver and I got this message: "the resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."

After that, I tried the driver from ATI, and it seems that they are more home driver for XP.

  • How to install Windows Xp on Satellite L300D?

I have Satellite L300D - 13s /PSLC8E with Win Vista Home Premium and I try to install Windows XP from boot and nothing.
Error all the time. I try a few versions of XP anyway.
How to expel C format Vista?

    Any advice?

    Hello!

What Windows XP disc do you have? Microsoft?

Maybe you should do a HARD drive low level format. You can do it with some tools. Google will help you.
I always use the Drive Fitness Test to do a low-level format:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT

But before you do, back up your data. The HARD drive will erase completely. Have you created a Toshiba Recovery disk? If this is not the case, to do this. Because when you want to reinstall Vista, you need this record.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L300D - 11O 800 MHz RAM installed, only to 667 MHz

I recently bought a Satellite Pro L300D-11O, which has a single stick of 1 GB 800 MHz RAM installed. However this RAM work only at 667 MHz. I checked this in Linux and Windows Vista.

The laptop is announced as to have 800 MHz RAM on this page:

    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&BV_UseBVCook ie = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 1055796

The manual of the user who wrote:

"PC2-6400 memory module works as PC2-5300 speed the GL40 Express Chipset Express chipset/GL965"

I don't know what chipset I have, and it would be surprised that this would be the case that the above Web site explicitly states RAM 800 MHz.

    Can someone tell me please?

    Hello!

Now I'm a bit confused of Mr. I think you did search in the wrong user's manual because the Satellite L300D has no Intel chipset.
On the Toshiba site, you can download the manual for Satellite L300D:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online downloads support & -online download user manual

I think that your chipset only supports 667 MHz. normally the RAM always works on the highest speed that is supported by the chipset.
Check the specifications with Everest or PC Wizard 2008.

    Good bye
