Hello

Download page of European driver of Toshiba Storage Manager.
This package contains the necessary SATA drivers.
The necessary drivers are placed in the folder drivers AHCI HDD ICHM8M32bit

Then use nLite (free tool) and include these files on the new disk in Win XP.

The tool will create new Win XP disk that can be used to install win XP on your l40

It should work because it worked for me too.

  • Re: Satellite L40 PSL48E: can I create a partition Vista installation disc

    Hello

My Satellite L40 PSL48E came with a Vista recovery partition.
As I despise Vista I bought a replacement drive and installed a new hard drive and installed XP pro.
I retained the original drive in case I've never had a claim under warranty.

Now, I find that, because of work, commitments, I occsionally use the despised Vista trash and wonder if it is possible to create a partition on the original disc installation disc so tha ti can create a system dual boot on my new drive.

I am very reluctant to BUY a new Vista CD, since I already have a perfectly legal copy on a disk, which I am not using and I'll use it only rarely for this commitment to work.

    Any information received with gratitude

    Thank you Ron

Hmm. If you have a HARD drive recovery option, then a complete image has been placed on the HARD drive and generally all cell phones with HARD drive recovery option is supported by a tool called TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator Toshiba.

With this tool, you can create a Vista recovery DVD If the OS Vista, have been damaged, you can also try to start the computer by pressing the F8 key.
This would allow an advanced boot menu.
Here you must choose repair computer

But note; This option is available only on laptops with HDD Recovery

    See you soon

  • Satellite L40 PSL48E FN keys do not work

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L40 PSL48E, and it works perfectly, except that the FN + no matter what key does not work.

I've been option on this forum, and I found the solution, which is: download the common Module and the Hotkey Utility.
However, this only seems to work for Windows XP and I have Vista Ultimate, so this won't work.

Also, I discovered that FN + F11 seems to work, and I searched on that one too, but it was something like:

«So, go to "Run" (i.e. run an application) and run msconfig.exe or simply search for msconfig.exe.»

After the opening of this program, you will have a few tabs and a tab should be as 'start-up', it should be the filename TCrdMain.exe and a checkbox before that. Uncheck the box, and you disable this cardmanager.
    "

Well, I went to msconfig.exe, but TCrdMain.exe was not on the list...

Someone knows how to fix this?

    Thanks, Koen.

    3. If I format the drive recovery still install Vist if I need back. (Now, I think that it was a question of dum. I know thw answer...: o

    Help, please

    Hello hotshot.
Recently I asked the customer service of Toshiba (Netherlands) the same question about warranty by phone. The guy said ' it's your computer, you can install what you like. ' " But if you need to send it for a problem, you will need to restore it to how it was when you got it. "I asked what happens if the computer develops a problem preventing you to restore it and the guy hohummed without giving an answer.
XP should work, but you will need to find all the drivers beforehand.
    Third question, you did it.

  • Satellite L40 (PSL48E) - is not restart after BIOS update

    Hello

My problem is that I have updated the BIOS and after that the machine does not restart. (Corrupt BIOS?)

After that the BIOS updated (Satellite L40 PSL48E), reboot the machine and with the F2 key, I open the BIOS setup.
I check the version of the BIOS (5.50) and complete the configuration of the BIOS. The machine must restart now...
Not at all, the machine does not restart. No screen only the powerled lights.

I can to fix it on my own as a BIOS reset?

    Thank you for the cooperation.

It's strange because after that the updated BIOS update you can go into the BIOS.

However, try to remove the battery and the AC adapter. Wait one hour and then put the battery back in and connect the AC adapter. Try again.

If it doesn't work it is something wrong with the hardware or BIOS and must be checked by a technician for laptop.

  • Satellite L40 - windows xp x 64 drivers

    Hello

I recently bought a laptop Satellite L40 - 14H. As I understand it, Windows XP x 64 is not officially supported. Nevertheless, I managed to install the operating system, by integrating the x 64 I found in the CD to install drivers (downloaded from the [search drivers | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU] page). Currently I have working drivers for the wired network adapter and wireless, integrated sound, display and of course the SATA drive. However, I can't seem to find the drivers 64 bit for the integrated modem PCMCIA (?) card reader - not that I need that wrong, but it would be nice to get rid the two small yellow question marks in the XP Device Manager. (Windows recognizes one of these devices, as the modem, the other is an unknown device with identifier ACPI\ATK0100).

However, is there any x 64 version of the application that makes the Fn keys work? I assume that the x 86 versions will not work with the 64-bit XP, especially if they rely on the installation of additional drivers.

On another note, is it possible to make the utility Intel display stop adding its entries (those the names of properties and graphics Options) in the menu that appears when I right-click on the windows desktop?

Thanks in advance for any help.

As you say doesn t Toshiba supports the OS 64-bit at the moment.
This means that all 64-bit drivers, tools or utilities don't exist on the Toshiba driver page.

If you want to use the features of the laptop as for example the FN keys you will need a special driver. But as already mentioned drivers 64-bit don t exist and therefore, use of the FN keys is not possible running 64 bit OS.

  • Question about Satellite L40 - 14 G and Vista drivers

I have Satellite L40 - 14G with Korean Vista installed and I have created a form of system restore DVD. If I have installed Vista English verson, can I installed
Drivers of this DVD I created recovery.

    Hello

The restore CD contains only the image. You cannot use the drivers of the image because the file cannot be opened.
The single Toshiba Vista drivers are placed and published on the page of Toshiba.
Try to simply install these drivers.

Yes, you must update the BIOS to the version of Windows XP. Now 5, 40 - WIN BIOS is available on the Toshiba page.

I also found a graphic driver Intel on the Toshiba European driver page that should this graphics driver works for sure.

By the way; Don t forget to install the driver chipset also

  • How to install Win XP on a Satellite L40 PSL48E?

What are the steps to install XP?
Where can I find the driver for this model package?
Is it mandatory to buy an external floppy drive?

    Hello

    This very easy s boyfriend.

You must first include the SATA drivers that are part of the Intel Storage Manager.
You can find it on the European driver Toshiba page.

You n t need an external USB FDD drive. You can use nLite software.
It of free software and you should google for more details and where to find these software.
It would help to understand necessary files of SATA for Win XP disk and create a new CD.
So finally, you can use this new drive for the installation of Win XP.

  • Satellite L40 PSL48E - missing CD/DVD drive

    Hello

I can't find my CD/DVD drive. The driver is probably corrupted or missing (Code 39).
    What should I do?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

This problem is known to me and she related to the incorrect registry key.

First, you must remove the drive CD/DVD from the list of devices in Device Manager.
Then, you should access the registry and should remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Finally, restart the laptop and check the drive after Vista acknowledged again.

    Good bye

  • How can I recover the OS on my Satellite L40 (PSL48E)?

I ve recently received this laptop with the data and configs of previous users. And I have an urgent need to get Vista back to the original. When I'm trying to use the recovery on the HARD drive partition, the program asks me to use the RecoverDVD.

But I have one! How can I get this drive or can make this disc of BONE? What should I do?
Guess the ISO of the DVD to recover is somewhere on the NET, is I not?

    Hello

Recovery image is not downloadable, and if you can't install OS HARD drive partition you must order the original Toshiba Recovery DVD.
You can do so under the https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

BTW: have you tried to install the OS using F8 option at startup?
