Satellite L50 - A - 16 H - "metered" WLan to help to win 8

Hello.

I would like to ask for help on this problem I have. 1.5 months ago.
I bought the Toshiba Satellite L50 - A - 16 H, everything worked perfectly except sometimes the wireless internet.

I could live with that, but since a week now, I can not access the internet at all.
I can connect to a wireless network, but it still says "limited connection" (or "m" in my language, I don't know how it is in English).

I tried it at home or at school, my internet was not working in these two places.

I use windows 8 and I've updated my nVidia Driver right before that this problem started to occur.

Greetings WhoCarrot
PS Sorry for my bad English.

> I use windows 8 and I've updated my nVidia Driver right before that this problem started to occur.

I put t see a link between the nVidia display driver and Wlan functionality so I n t think that this update might affect the WLan.

Fact is that this Satellite supports an Intel WB222 (802.11 agn + BT) wireless network card.
I recommend you update the WLan driver first.

In addition, the Windows 8 was replaced by Win 8.1 and the free upgrade to win 8.1 is available in the Microsoft store. I recommend you to update the Win Win 8.1 8
Install and update all the drivers for the Toshiba UE driver page and retest the WLan.

  • Satellite L50 - B - 21 G: abandon WLan connection / power issue

I bought my laptop about six weeks ago and its driving me crazy. I could be sitting with him and suddenly I lose the internet connection, I try to reconnect, but cannot as he seems to have "abandoned" the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter. I'm not very irritable but sees someone else has had this problem and follow a few instructions to restore the previous driver for the network adapter, but it just made things worse.

In addition, I can never turn my laptop. If I choose the "shut down" option then it turns off, but there is always a light flashing around the power button. I heard he's going a few hybrid sleep, but I had instructions to stop this, but again its happening. I can't just press the power button to restart the laptop it restarts with the loss of the network adapter (see above), so I sit in pressing and holding the button several times until it restarts finally with the back working network adapter.

If I just stopped the lid (as I applied this option overall upwards), then three hours I can just return, press a button and begin to work, however, once again, I can not because the network adapter is down and I have to then push and hold the power button (that choose shut down doesn't seem to work).

This laptop was designed to replace an old ADVENT that caused me grief, but I'm done with nothing else than a box of junk that I want to throw. Worse yet, I'm not at all way techy am so not able to do what many of you can do to correct problems so I tried to find a phone number to call Toshiba and never get an option to type in what is my problem and then follow the online help that I tried and does not work! Y at - there someone who can give me a number for Toshiba that I can call for help if I need help more than anybody can give me here? Thank you.

I have already answered in another thread with the similar question of Wlan and I guess it could be a related issue of energy saving:

    Reach:
Windows power options - choose the right central - advanced power options.
Search of the WLan card settings and set it to "best performance".
You must also set the parameters for the PCI express for the 'best performance '.

In addition, go to the Device Manager. Choose here the Wlan card properties
Switch to the last tab called "Power Management" and make sure that the option available in this tab is not checked!

  • Satellite L50-A-111: dimming does not work properly after Win 8.1 upgrade

    Hello

I have a problem with my laptop computer truebright LED monitor.
Brightness works correctly, but the brightness variation is not.

I should be able to choose from a range of 0 to 100% in both, but in gradation brightness that I can not only get up to 10% even though it says its 100%
because when I level down it says 8,6,5,3,1 level and 0 when I get home eco and when I max he says 10% for 1 second, then 100%.

Oh and something important, change the brightness variation has no effect at all, I think it's just stuck at 10%.

But I know clearly that it is 10%.
I tried everything so far, restore archive and the registry.
It wasn't even until I restored the registry. I also tried advanced options that once solved this problem for me, tried everything, expect to reinstall the operating system.

I installed windows 8.1 Windows store recently I don't know if its related.
All my drivers are up to date.
Happened yesterday after Batman Arkham City GOTY installing and disabling the Anti Virus, Firewall, etc...

I don't know what else to try, im really frustrated, I can't handle this without the gradation of light at its maximum. My only concern is to reinstall the operating system did not solve my problems.

Please give me some info on how to solve this problem, I'll try the registry if someone can help out me.
    Thank you in advance.

    My best regards,

    Hello

To be honest I m a bit confused.

You said that you have upgraded to Win 8.1
After these updates, you must update all the Toshiba drivers as mentioned on the 8.1 win Toshiba upgrade page.
On the page of the Toshiba UE driver you can find the installation instructions that will show you how to install / update all drivers.

    This is very important!

Just download more videos and photos today and they have downloaded and play very well. Can anyone help?

    Thank you becky xx

I'm not sure about this, but it might be possible that the video standard is not fully supported by the video player...

I assume that you have installed the iTunes software and QuickTime player... right?
Maybe you need to reinstall the entire software once more... its worth a check...

Another idea: try another player like VLC media player...

  • Satellite L50-B-192 with Linux, no compatibility issues?

    Hello world

I would buy a new PC, almostly Toshiba Satellite L50-B-192.
In fact, I heard that a lot of people found that it is difficult to install linux, and many could she!, any body have had such an experience?
Would you recommend buy me this model. I'll use for some applications, graphics, programming and development.
Any advice will be highly appreciated.

    Hello

I think that you will have a good experience in running a late version of Linux on this model. Just trying to get a 4 core...
The biggest problem I've seen with L50 - B, it's that the maps non - Intel WLAN don't work under Linux yet.
But your model appear to have an Intel WIFI card, so you should be fine.
If you download and install the kernel 4.1 I think even shortcut keys can behave very well.

  • Wireless network card does not appear in the Device Manager on Satellite L50 - B - 1 DM

    Hello!
I bought just new Satellite L50 - B - 1 DM, model number PSKTCE and installed on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit. He came without OS installed and without driver installation disk.
Problem is that Wlan card does not appear in Device Manager.

For my Toshiba support model are 37 drivers and programs. I have already installed: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, all updates to Windows that appeared, SP 1, driver LAN, Toshiba Value added Package. And I tried to install all wlan drivers 4 in the list of "tool utility Intel ' also.
Does not always display any connection without wireless WLAN card. Pressing Fn + F12 does not change. In "Network connections" is the only connection - LAN. No WLAN, no bluetooth.

I have "Other devices" in Device Manager with yellow marks on: network controller; PCI device; PCI Simple Communication controller; SM Bus controller. USB controller; Unknown device (with Microsoft ACPI - compliant system location) and video controller.

Any help would be welcome. Thanks in advance

If it's not bad - just saw that my BIOS is version 1.70

  • Satellite L50 - A - 14 L - update to windows 8.1

    Hi all

I have a portable Satellite L50 - A - 14 L and in the next few weeks, I want to upgrade the operating system windows 8 to version 8.1.

On the Toshiba site I found the following procedure to perform the update

    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/windows8_1-upgrade-stepbystep/

However, I have some reservations about this procedure, for example: if I uninstall the WLAN driver, can I provide Internet connectivity during the update?

If someone in the forum has already made the update on the same notebook, could he kindly post the steps and possible problems?

    Thank you

You must follow exactly the instructions step by step, as indicated on the page to update Toshiba win 8.1.
But of course, if you would uninstall the WLan driver, you would NOT be able to use the Wi - Fi connection.
In such cases its recommended to use LAN or to download all the stuff you need external USB flash stick memory before you uninstall the WLan driver would be!

  • Satellite L50-B-1GL - connection WI - FI problems

    I bought a Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1GL

I'm having problems with the WiFi signal reception, I found that it is that in this book because I have an another older toshiba and receives the signal also correctly correctly receive the signal in the cell, the problem is with this laptop, low signal of a Bay and up to two or three at the most, sometimes gives even me the message that there is no sign , do not work with the battery, I am plugged into the mains.

Please can you help me, or I have to send for repair.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think you have some connection problems Wi - Fi because that card LAN of the laptop that is Intel 802.11ac + agn supports WLan standards (AC, A, G, N) probably there is a problem of compatibility between the router and the especially WLan card if the WLan router has been configured for 802.11 B or G only.

If you want to establish the WiFi connection, you must ensure that the road and the wireless network adapter supports the same WLan standard.
For example: the router + wireless network card must be set to 802.11 A or G or N because these standards are supported by the WLan module.

For the wireless network adapter, you will need to check / change the settings in:
-> WLan card device manager-> properties-> Advanced tab

On the Advanced tab, you'll find settings and options that must be controlled and configured.

  • Satellite L50-B916 - wireless connection problem

    Hello

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L50 B916 less than 6 months ago and had to download all the drivers for myself because for some reason, the operating system has not come with her.

Went to the site of TOSHIBA MEA to download and install the corresponding drivers.
    Downloaded the Atheros wireless driver.

Still, the Internet connection disconnects on my laptop, but works fine on other laptops and devices.
Not just a connection, all the ones I tried to connect to.

Tried to remove Atheros and re - install, it worked fine for a few days, but the connection disrupt again.

What should I do to solve this very annoying problem?

Hmm... made it happen using the laptop in battery or also while mode that the adapter is connected to the laptop?

It might be possible that the powers of WiFi, saving settings are enabled, and therefore stops the WiFi connection.

  • Satellite L50 - B - I'm not able to establish a wireless connection

    Hello

No reason, I'm not able to use my wifi connection more.
I was at home and my wifi worked, but when I went to an another location al of a sudden switch to activate the wifi (8.1 to Windows, not on my laptop, there is no switch on the laptop itself) would not work. When I put a cable internet in my laptop, I have a connection. It's just the wireless that does not work.

I have tried just about everything I could think of:
-Installed the new driver on the Toshiba site
-New Instalend pilot on the Intell website
-Remove programs of network connection, rebooted the computer, so it would automatically find the right driver.

Not it worked. I'm not keen to restart my computer because it does more harm than good. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do next?

It is not the first time, the functions are without any clear reason disabled. First it was my USB-portals. After two months, I got it working again. But now, it's the wireless internet. Its drving me crazy, because I have the laptop for 4 months now.

    Advice, anyone?

    Hello Rosie

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here. The first WLAN card must be properly installed and listed in Device Manager. Can you please confirm this?

Second, the wireless network card must be properly activated. Flight mode must be OFF and wireless ON.
Please check in the PC settings > network > connections and flight mode.

When you check this and WLAN ENABLED scan please area. Your network is visible for your laptop?

  • Can I upgrade the Module Wi - Fi in the Satellite L50 - B?

I currently have the Toshiba Satellite L50 - B PSKTAA - 02G 001, and it works only on 2.4 GHz. I need this phone to work in the 5 GHz range.
Can I upgrade the Wifi Module in this laptop to work on the 5 GHz.

What will work the Wifi Modules replacement?

According to the page specification for laptop, the wireless network adapter supports 802.11 standards (b/g/n).

    802 11 B and G supports 2.4 Ghz
802.11 N supports the 2.4 Ghz and 5 GHz and 5 GHz would be supported only in the case of the Wlan module would support 802. 11's too. But this isn't the case here

However, you want to know if you can replace the WLan module
Well, first of all each material change would affect the validity of the guarantee.
This means that you will lose the warranty if you would disassemble the laptop.

But in general the WLan miniPCI module can be removed if a removable piece.
But the question is: would the BIOS supports the new Wlan module?
    I m not quite sure

  • Replace the Qualcomm Atheros ar956x in Satellite L50 - B

    Hi all

I am wanting to change the existing WiFi card in our Satellite L50 - B (Qualcomm Atheros ar956x) due to the limitation of speed of connection 150 Mbps! We have a router AC and I move 800 Mbps!

I was hoping to use an Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 however the cards seem to be physically different.

    Any ideas would be great!

    see you soon

    Scott

    Hello

Found some details about this Intel WLan card on the page of Intel:
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/75439/Intel-dual-band-wireless-AC-7260

+ Board form factor: half a PCIe card Mini / m2 (NGFF).

As far as I know the WLan module that is built into the laptop supports Mini-PCI card format.
So, you have a miniPCI module.
But you should consider BIOS support. Not all wireless network cards could be supported by the BIOS.
