Satellite L650-170 - is the keyboard backlight stand?

Hello

Could you tell me if the keyboard on this laptop is backlit? And if so, how do I activate it?

Kind regards

Hello

No, as far as I know that this model of laptop is equipped with a common A4 + 10key standard plate black keyboard.

Usually the backlight on the keyboard could be enabled or disabled by pressing FN + Z key.
But I think that this will not work because it s no keyboard backlight.

    Hello

As far as I know that it is no longer possible.
If you have selected the language, you will need to use the language that was chosen originally.

I not quite sure of this workaround, but check if this m:
-create a recovery disk (using the software creator on the laptop recovery disk)
-use the recovery disk to reinstall new OS
-Check if it would be possible to change the language.

  • Satellite L650 - 170 (PSK1JE) Setup failure

    Today I bought a toshiba Satellite L650 - 170 (PSK1JE), I turned on and Yippee, I had to attend a configuration of 2 hours.

After 2 hours, it was restarted for l'eme time of 10 + and this time, instead of with success one of 42 things that you had to install, install
He has not started up, the only thing that was on the screen was a loading bar with the text above saying it began services

He didn't do anything, I could just stay for an hour, "starting services.
So I tried to fix it, he started upward, F8 and guess what, there was no computer repair option (which should be there!),
all other options are available, such as safe mode, so I tried safe mode

Even in safe mode, the loading bar popped up, start the services, and it crashed it.

I tried to recover with a windows recovery disc 7 (which I had to download and burn myself on another laptop..!)
Even with a recovery disc, it only gave me errors, it could not start the recovery

So yes, now were about 6 hours later, Ive successfully installed a trial of a different version of windows 7 on it.
Now all I have to do is download about 30 drivers from your Web site and install them one by one, and then restart the computer 30 times

I installed the webcam driver, restarted as he told me, and I got a message that it was missing a dll file.

You have a disk for download that contains the normal Setup program from windows 7 Home premium? with all the drivers appropriate?
Because mine has been tapped of course. Im going to download 30 drivers who will not work on the current win 7 I have installed on it.

    Kind regards

    > You have a disk for download that contains the normal Setup program from windows 7 Home premium? With all the drivers appropriate?
Because mine has been tapped of course. I do not download 30 drivers who will not work on the current win 7 I have installed on it.

    Recovery disk is not downloadable
First laptop computer must contain the drive HARD recovery option that could be launched by pressing F8-> fix my computer-> drive HARD recovery.
It of strange that you didn't find this option

Here is documentation how to start HARD drive recovery. But of course this will only work if the HARD disk is not formatted and OS has not been changed
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=58

However, it seems that you have formatted the HARD drive using other Windows operating systems.

If you want to get the recovery disc then you can buy it from here:

  • How to disable the keyboard backlight on Portege Z830?

    Hello eyeryone!

I hope someone can help me with the following "problem" on my Z830 backlit keyboard.

The thing is I want to use this function, when it is not necessary, but every time I change my setting of the energy of 'eco' on the keyboard lights up. I would like to disable this feature, so that the LED backlight is only active manually. Does anyone know where this setting can be changed?

The light on the keyboard is not mentioned in the list for the parameters energy and the BIOS option is already set to 'off '.

    Thank you

    Hello Scorpio

I n t have this model of laptop, but I think that the principle is the same as on other laptops.

Start Toshiba Assist > Optimize > HWSetup > and you will find the keyboard backlight options.
    Here you can disable.

    Please, check and send comments.

  • Is it possible to install the keyboard backlight?

HP dv7-4296nr switch the keyboard backlighting of the installation? Because I'm working often in the night, so it is very useful for me, but the current keyboard has no backlight, and I don't want to use an external light to connect via the USB port, because it is very distracting.

    http://h20574.www2.HP.com/default.htm?lang=en&cc=us&hpappid=psml

Access your model as seen in the screenshot.

When you get to the video section, click on "Keyboard" in the left column, yours is very easy.

Make sure you are connected before you click on the video link.

If the link or the video does not work, let me know and I'll post a bunch of screenshots.

At this point, you don't have to remove the real water for the keyboard to the motherboard. Everything we do here is to determine whether there is a connection on the MoBo for the backlight cable.

Look at the pictures of the backlit keyboard by ebay, the connection on the motherboard will coincide with the end of the keyboard cable. Note that the cable for the backlight is a separate cable and is quite small compared to the main keyboard cable.

If there is a cable, and when it comes time to unlock the ZIF connector to remove the keyboard, be very careful not to damage the connector.

The video is very clear, and if you follow his instructions that you have no problem, nothing should be forced. Make sure you and the main keyboard cable is properly aligned before blocking the paw of the ZIF connector.

If the ZIF connector is damaged to the point where the cable will be locked down, he condemns the whole motherboard.

If you don't feel able to do it yourself, then a repair shop can do for you. The procedure is very fast, so it shouldn't cost too much, it will take them only a few minutes to inspect the MoBo to ensure that the connector is there.

You can also find out if the seller has a return policy, just in case.

    ______________________________________________________________________________________

I had a quick glance and I found a picture of your mother board where the backlight cable connection should be. The screenshot shows where it should be, converted red (boxed). If there is no link here, then you're out of luck.

The connection will be similar to the connection of touch pad just below.

  • Configure the keyboard backlight Timeout

Hello, I want to configure the keyboard backlight Timeout on Dell Latitude E6440. I use pre-installed Linux OS Ubuntu 12.04.2 Dell.

I found this post http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/enterprise-client/f/4448/p/19415396/19975858.aspx#19975858 of Warren Byle.

He wrote how to change the keyboard backlight with tool CCTK lighting level. I downloaded CCTK for Red Hat Linux and looks like it works fine on Ubuntu too. With that - token orders that I am able to change the level of backlight on the keyboard which is good.

But I still don't know how to change the keyboard backlight Timeout. Backlight is still off after 10 seconds. Is there some special - token for this timeout setting?

According to other messages, looks like configring timeout to 5 minutes could be possible, as there are Windows applications that could do that (for example Dell System Manager Application checkpoint)

  • Satellite M50-A-110 - looking at the keyboard backlight upgrade

I bought my laptop 2 weeks ago and I'm looking to upgrade my keyboard with backlight keyboad.

The motherboard has the additional connector, but I need to confirm with you: [Motherboard | http://i732.photobucket.com/albums/ww321/maliaros/th_20140527_1532171.jpg]

Also, I found some vendors on ebay sell the keyboard for half as much as the Distributor and I'd like to know what you reccoment.

    Hello

    > Also, I found some vendors on ebay sell the keyboard for half as much as the Distributor and I'd like to know what you reccoment.

In many cases the different keyboard would be consistent, since most of them are supported the same hardware specifications.

With regard to the additional keyboard connector:
AFAIK the backlight keyboard must be connected to the additional connector called * JBLG *.
But to be honest, I have not found in on the photo that you placed in the post.

  • Re: Satellite P870 - how to change the keyboard backlight ON?

We can see from the Web from Toshiba as Satellite P870 site (and other series like P850, L870, etc.) are NEW backlit keyboard. How to service this backlit?

FN - Z does not work. Also, I do not see any symbol associated with this function on the keyboard of my P870. It is also very strange due to the fact that my P870 has all the other features "fantasies" (good screen, sound, Blu - ray, HDMI, Eco option connector (backlit keyboard does not respond on on / off Eco).)

    Thank you

    Hello

Can you please post exact model laptop (P870-xxx)? I just want to check the specifications for your model of laptop.

  • Satellite L650-170 - keyboard has stopped working

    Hello.

The problem is that my laptop keyboard has suddenly stopped working. It does not at all.
Although it responds until Windows loads up, which means that it is a software failure. External USB keyboard works too.
Someone has any idea how to solve this problem?

    Hello

This means that in Windows the keyboard doesn t work?

In this case, I would try a system restore to an earlier point. Maybe this can help get rid you of this problem.

  • Satellite L650 - 12K - restore the factory with Windows password settings?

    Hello

Today I received my new Toshiba Satellite L650 - 12K. I went through the process of "first use" and put in place my name of user and password Windows 7 etc.

However, after a reboot, when I tried to enter my password to connect to Windows, it says it is incorrect. I tried different combinations of password I used (I know what it's like I wrote it down at the time)-ive tried caps, plugs etc but nothing works.

If I order the Toshiba recovery disks I will be able to return the laptop to factory settings and start the installation again, including Windows?.

PS - I only put an account so can't even connect you as another user.

Thanks for your time and your help.

    Gary2802.

    Hey Buddy,

Yes, the Toshiba recovery disc can restore the initial configuration (on the box settings) even you don t know the password because it will remove the whole HARD disk and restore the version preinstalled Windows from Toshiba.

So don t you worry about this, Toshiba Recovery disk will help you! ;)

  • Satellite A500 - controls above the keyboard do not work

I have a problem with the controls volume/dvd above the keyboard on my Satellite A500 - that they are turned on but when I touch them nothing happens. They worked when I got to the laptop, but I think that I might accidentally disabled can understand how to recover them, but I have!

    Hey Buddy,

The controls above the keyboard are controlled by added value package. I think something has confused by VAP so that you can t use controls more.
Usually if you reinstall VAP keys should work again

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

That s the page where you can download.
But before you install the latest version, remove the current one and restart the laptop. Then install the latest version of VAP.

I want to know what operating sistem u would recomand me and so is windows 7 How do I find sata driver, o I already serch the forum how to do this on the l series, but could find nothing

    Hello

    > I tried to install windows 7 seveeral times... (x 64 editions) without success, I managed to install an edition clean windows 64
Where is the difference between Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 64 edition? In my opinion it of the same

In any case, best recommendation of OS is version preinstalled Windows in my opinion, because he configured Toshiba s with all the drivers and tools you need. No additional installation is necessary and your laptop is ready for use.

Generally for the FN keys you need Toshiba value added from Toshiba Web site package.

  • Satellite L650 - what is the maximum rate of WLan 802.11n?

    Hello!

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L650-11th with broadcom wireless card.

The driver installed is version 5.60.48.35, dated dated 21/01/2010, which looks like the most recent available at Toshiba.

However, Windows 7 indicates a rate of connection of only 65Mbps.
With an another Toshiba that I have, with an Atheros chipset, I get 135Mbps.

The broadcom 802.11n only does support 20 MHz channels?
Is it possible to configure it to use the 40 MHz channels?
    How?

In addition, the network search, I found a broadcom WiFi driver in HP site with version 5.100.82.130 (May 25, 2012).
It would help to install this driver, or would it be a bad idea?

    Thank you
    Paulo

    Hello

The wireless network card supports 802.11 B G N standard

    You should read this info:

+ Can use the 5 GHz on the wireless network card in the standard WiFi "n". +
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB0502VM0000R01.htm

Usually, the standard 802.11 N standard supports 2.4 Ghz and 5 GHz but 5 GHz are supported only if the WLan card would also support a standard 802.11.
802.11 is not supported, the 802.11 standard operating at 2.4 Ghz
