Thinkpad R60 ram slot problem

Hello

I have 2 x 1 GB (same type) and 1x512mo (another manufacturer) ram sticks. With all the seperatelly put into the lower slot laptop works very well. If I put in 2x1gb I get 4 beeps and no boot, if I put 1 gb + 512 mb, I get a black screen with no beeps. If I put no stick in the top slot I get 4 beeps. If I don't put no Rams I get 1-3-3-1. I tried to apply pressure on the slot - even 4 beeps with 2x1GB. I use the latest version of the bios with the default settings.

Looks like the top slot is defective. Is it possible to fix it? Thank you.

You may need to get a new motherboard. It is the only way to fix it. Perhaps check on ebay or forum.thinkpads.com.

Also check that there is no dust in the upper ram slot.

I had turned on my Thinkpad R60 morning to check certain emails and left for work. When I got home, the laptop screen was black, and I assumed that it had frozen on the screen saver. However, when I tried to restart the computer, the computer starts to turn on and then let a series of 4 beeps, one per second all the same length. The screen is still the same ordinary black color. If someone can tell me what to do about this problem I would be very happy. Thank you!

I hope that your ThinkPad is still under warranty, because she needs a new card system based on HMM, due to the failure of security chip.

  • Genius Bar broke my RAM Slot

My computer knew some problems turning on and I took it to the genius bar. They went through my MacBook as there are of course many causes possible so I went to pick up another day, when they were performed. I have just return and everything works well except the RAM. I had 8 GB installed and registered only 4 GB. After rotation autour and only use a stick at a time I have diagnosed the issue as the least RAM slot is the problem. I want to know what I have to do? Is it a simple fix I can do (or try) or I need to resume and explain?

I expect that you will need to make an appointment with the Genius Bar, because apparently you have diagnosed the cause:

  • Tecra 8100: memory slot problems

    I have a model tecra 8100 not: PT810L 12 c 42.

I had problem with slot B mem, so collapsed to use it. Then I upgraded my RAM and inserted a 128 Mb TOSHIBA THLY6416G1FG-80 RAM PC100-222-620 slot A and used for a month. Then he suddenly went dead one day and did not boot at all.

I took it to the point of service, they found somehow it work by sticking a piece of paper btw Aries and the cover. I used another week with ram cover duck taped it. Same story, then dead in the middle of winXP, switched off and no boot again. It took to the same service point, they tried some other RAM chipsets that it refused to start.

The interesting thing is; When they inserted a faulty RAM in slot A and non-use slot B we get the message "memory incompatible chipset" on the screen. With the RAM mentioned above in the slot B (problem as always) and the A we get nothing, just a blank screen, DVD slot starts green lit, but nothing.

WHAT SHOULD I DO, PLS HELP

What is the RAM causing problems? What must a chipset that is exactly compatible with the model no pls?
Is it the two locations of memory A or B, their change could solve the problem?

This is the machine he itself, must it be thrown away?

    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

    Hello

I n know where you tried to upgrade the memory but as Lisa suggested this was not a serious technician. I changed and upgraded memory on multiple PCs, and you must use 100% compatible modules! You shouldn't t install the modules with a brute force or use strange things as a communication between the housing and the memory module.
Possible slots are damage due to use this procedure. But I hope you're a lucky man and everything will work correctly.

If you n t know which modules are right and taken in charge so you should contact the service partner authorized Toshiba for the right and the upgrade modules.

  • Satellite 1800-100 - is RAM slot B broken?

Due to the poor system performance 256 MB of RAM to put in with the the laptop 128 MB, I bought came with. When I opened the hood to the RAM slots I realized that the two slots were already in use. I got my brother's cell phone and he told me that he had bought 256 MB, a few years back and he says they worked and the laptop ran with 384 MB.

The laptop has an A slot and a slot B. When I put all 3 Rams (128,256,256) into A slot they are recognized by the BIOS and notebooks works very well. However, if I put one of them in the slot B I turn on the laptop and noting happens, I can´t even not to enter the BIOS.

When I put 2x256MB (A and B) the laptop only works with 256 MB. So I guess the slot B is somehow broken? This hypothesis is correct? How do I go about solving this problem?

Thank you for a ton for all the comments / responses

    Hello

Yes it looks like there is a faulty RAM slot. This doesn't happen often, but sometimes I read about sound.
There is no way to fix it. The only way I know is to exchange the complete motherboard. Maybe you can get a second hand motherboard from eBay.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A665-S6059 - RAM / BIOS problems

I've updated the bios of my Toshiba A665 in version 1.20, which fixed some errors with DDR3 1333 mhz ram. I bought the 8GB upgrade 10600 DDR3 1333 mhz. When I changed out of 2 x 2 GB chips with the new 2 x 4 GB those booted the laptop in bios, said 8 196 MB of ram. I saved and quit smoking.

When starting, the toshiba start screen came, became black and repeat the cycle until that I turned off the laptop. I had to put one of chips DDR3-8500 2 GB in the first ram slot to mount the system to boot in windows. A chip of 4 GB DDR3 10600 is in slot 2. BIOS and windows says I have 6 GB of ram.

I just can't understand why the chips of 2 x 4 GB will not start. Is this a BIOS error? In slot 2 for separate boots, the two sets of 4GB of ram chip.

It's going to be a fix for this problem? I noticed that there is a way to solve the problem of card WiFi, and the strange changed between power supply and battery from the hearts of video card power.

    Hello

Purchased modules memory compatible one fron authoriezd service provider or what you have bought exactly modules?

For me, it looks like this new modules are not compatible, so they don t run in mode dual channel on your mobile phone. This means that you need other modules.

I would recommend modules to an authorized service provider or some modules of high quality of Kingston, for example.

  • Lenovo G40 ~ 70 ram upgrade problem

I bought a lenovo G40 ~ 70 cell and I wanted to update my ram. It contains 4 GB of ram and I wanted it go to 8 GB. What kind of ram card should I buy and after upgrading my computer will have problems? Thank you.

    Hi Ayato,

    Welcome to the Forums

According to the request, we understand you need to upgrade RAM to your laptop Lenovo G40-70.

According to the specifications of this model, the memory maximum supported by this model is up to 16 GB DDR3L 1600 Mhz. That's why I suggest you consider DDR3L RAM the RAM slots in the laptop doesn't support the same. And 'L' in the DDR3L refers to low voltage.

Click here to see the specification of the model.

I hope this helps. Do not post back if the problem persists.

  • HP EliteBook 8740w p/n VB744AV: Base model with only 2 RAM slots does not level up to 8 GB of RAM, 6 GB only?

So I discovered that my laptop is a version of the basic model of the Elitebook 8740w so I'm missing 2 RAM slots. However, I went to upgrade my RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB the other day, and after ensuring all the RAM was split and firmly fixed my laptop would only flicker the lights indicating that my ports were dirty, RAM was split in correctly or I ordered the bad RAM sticks (which I didn't, I double checked). So I have of the 4 GB split into the slot of the RAM under the keyboard and replace one of the original 2 GB sticks in the other RAM more accessible location at the bottom of the computer. Laptop started fine. I'll try the RAM slot again later tonight when I get home from work, but if anyone has any experience with this issue, I'd love to hear corrections or explanations on what I can do wrong.

I also want to note that I checked the specifications of the computer and it says that it should support the 8 GB of RAM or more. However I do not know if this is a generalization of the product since it usually comes with 4 vs slots of RAM upgrade only the 2 I have in my laptop.

Quad Core versions have 4 RAM slots and Dual Core 2 slots. Max 32 gig and 16 gig respectively. Try the reslotting and let us know how it goes. 8 concerts must be OK, assuming that compatible. If the problem persists, please provide the manufacturer for both modules reference numbers.

  • IBM Thinkpad T30 RAM Flaw

    IBM Thinkpad T30

    OS: Windows XP Pro SP3

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 1.9 Ghz

    RAM: 512 MB

    HARD drive: Hitachi DK23FA-60

Graphics card: ATi Mobility 7500 w/16 MB RAM Radeom

I realize it's a very old laptop but it still works to this day and I use it every day.

I've been a bit online and I found that there is a design with the motherboard fault. More precisely the location of the hard drive and RAM above the other causes a lot of heat build-up to this place. IBM (now Lenovo) offered a repair or replacement of the laptop for a few years I know. My question is Lenovo continues to do this or not? I got this laptop a month ago and a half, so I have not long. Unfortunately I have no money to even pay for the repair and even less to ship for repair. Is there something I can look at?

    Welcome to the forum!

It's been years since the replacement program of the Board of Directors on T30 units had ended.

Your best bet is to install a single 1 GB DIMM in the 'healthy' location and use the machine like this if one of the RAM slots failed.

    Good luck.

It seems that it is a matter of data, the 250 HP G2 seems to be incorrectly identified in our back-end systems.  People of textbooks will modify the document, markup and fix the problem of data, and that should correct the problem.

I have a home network (wired) composed of two desktop computers and my Lenovo Thinkpad R60.

I was recently overseas with my Lenovo, but since the return to the House, I discovered that my Lenovo does not appear as a network on my desktop PC.

I ran the Configuration Wizard from the network, but without success.

The Lenovo doesn't show even on my network places.

I checked the security of network card on my Norton Anti Virus and all three computers are listed on the map.

I have 2 RAM slots. I have 1 GB installed on one of these locations.

A few months before that I installed a 1 GB of RAM on another location (I gave my CPU to the shop actually to install) and it worked very well.

I had some problems with my PC so I formatted the entire hard drive and reinstalled my Windows 8. But now, he uses only one slot.

    So please tell me that

How can I use the two RAM slots?

Unplug ALL power - then remove the memory - and then put back them in (this process
is known as the relocation and will help if there is corrosion or other question contact). If it's been
contributes not to remove both once again put the one who was in the second slot in the first location to
see if it actually works. If this does not work, you have a bad memory module. If so, put the
