Satellite L730 / very slow L735... buffering start-up online content, etc.

I have only owned it since May 26 this year, and I found the performance really slow.

I can't watch online content... It takes forever buffering and has worsened in recent weeks, even though we have a strong bond.

Also it takes about 10 minutes to start!

Any ideas, seems a bit poor to have these problems so early? We checked and defragment the hard drive and that did not help at all. It is very little stored on the hard drive... less than 10% used.

> I can't watch online content... It takes forever buffering and has worsened in recent weeks, even though we have a strong bond.

Streaming video depends on the server where the video is hosted too!
If the server is overloaded, performance can go down and this affects the performance of streaming.

Have you noticed the slow performance using other software too?

Notice also that background processes that are run in the context of the operating system can slow down the performance of the system.

Usually, you can disable background processes is not necessary using msconfig.
But be careful with it. This may affect the functionality of the laptop too. If you n t know the unique process, google for that, for more details.

I use CCLeaner (freeware tool) to improve my performance of the laptop. Perhaps it might be useful for you too.

    > Pls u can mention precisely what are all s unnecessary software in my laptop...

Only you can decide what software is not important to you
Toshiba has preinstalled many different programs. Most of these applications control certain features of the laptop as keys FN, controls, etc., but of course, this software needs of material resources and slow down the start-up procedure.

In MSCONFIG, you can disable some processes and could test how the laptop would be without these applications.

In addition, I recommend to update or remove the Tempro tool, which has been pre-installed by Toshiba!

The Avira scanner is great. I m using both and it s free.
This eater of low material s and, therefore, the laptop should start more quickly instead of using Avira Kaspersky.

  • Toshiba Satellite L655D very slow

Recently, I deleted it from my laptop and started more as it kept crashing and was very slow. The only programs I loaded on it that wiping it was Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 we bought through a program offered by the school district in my children, Norton and Silhouette Studio (for my craft cutting machine).  My laptop has a processor dual core AMD turion II p540 2.40 GHz and 4 GB of RAM (3.74 GB usable) and it's a 64-bit OS Windows 7 Home Premium with service pack 1.

I feel is no longer a problem with it crashing, but it continues to be slow... opening web pages in particular.  I heard it might be Norton do not interact with office or office is too big for my laptop.  Any thoughts? In my humble OPINION Symantec/Norton should not be placed on any machine, but I don't think that the software installed is causing your slow.

  • Satellite L750 - very slow internet

    Hello

I bought a new toshiba L750 and Wi - Fi connection is very slow (almost useless).

I have a sony 5 years, sitting next to him using the same wireless connection and it is much faster (pages take seconds on sony, toshiba minutes).

It must be an internet setting? I find it particularly slow in hotmail. Once loaded the pages once seem a little faster the second time, but always as fast as it should.

    any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    HT

    Hey,.

This happens in Eco mode? If so, it could be caused due to saving energy characteristic of the wireless network card. You must disable management feature in Windows to energy WLAN power management. You can set the WLAN card for maximum performance.

What router you have and that you already have a firmware update?

  • Satellite L300 - very slow start and freezes

    Hi all

I have a Satellite L300, who treated me well - but more 2 months ago really slow and freezes quite often. I have anti virus, spybot etc and come up with nothing.

Last night I tried to reformat the system by pressing 0 did not work so tried with F8 which I would like to make a longer scan but no reformatting. I am now very happy that I failed to do the reformat because I bought windows 7 after the initial purchase of the laptop.

Any ideas anyone - or any person with same/simular problems?

    Hey,.

This means that you have installed right now and not preinstalled version of Windows Windows 7?

Well, in this case HARD drive recovery option is no longer available. You can do it on preinstalled only Windows.

To format your laptop, you need Toshiba recovery disc.
    Did you create it?

    Hello

My A300 has developed a problem. When I boot it to take about 2 minutes to go to the BIOS screen, then, the screen turns white with a cursor flashing at the top left of the screen, it stays like that for about a minute and it starts and runs perfectly.
I tried upgrading the BIOS to the latest version. I've also restored windows to a factory State.

The problem still exists. The laptop is 10 months old.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Have you installed extra RAM in Notepad?
If so, remove it and try again only with module of RAM preinstalled.

What devices or cables connected to the laptop? Remove all USB devices, network cable and others and see what happens. I ask this because a friend of mine had the same problem because it connected an external HARD drive to the laptop.

Just bought this laptop in Argos a week ago. I know that other people have had similar problems. Basically things together is really slow no matter what you do, escecially when you go on the internet. Takes forever for nothing to take, then you end up with several windows open and all crashes.

On the suggestion of some people on this forum, I have removed the free McAfee antivirus and installed my own Norton one instead.

I installed the update to the BIOS when prompted to by the Toshiba updates.

Another problem is that there is the windows updates about 36 the machine try to download, but it keeps failing to install them and try again whenever you turn it on.

    All advice appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

    > Basically the whole things runs very slowly everything you do
It comes with the pre-installed Windows version or you have installed your own version? What additional software programs you have installed and that you have connected external devices?

    > Another problem is that there is the windows updates about 36 the machine tries to download but it keeps failing to install them and try again whenever you turn it on.
I recommend you to install Service Pack 1 before you start with simple updates of Windows. You can download Service Pack 1 all on the official Microsoft Website. After installation try to download Windows updates again.

  • Satellite A60 - very slow USB transfer speed

    Hello

I have a Satellite A60 with XP Home and the USB transfer speed is very very low. Is 2.0, but it is not working properly, because it takes about 30 minutes to copy the data from 1 GB on a USB 2.0 drive externally.

I tried my USB drives on another computer and work quickly and well, so it is probably just a problem of drivers, but can't find them on the web from Toshiba to reinstall them. I heard that it is a common problem after installation of XP Service Pack 2, but I didn't do anything, I use the operating system as it came when I bought the laptop (with XP Home SP2 preinstalled original), I do not change any configuration or install drivers that can affect to the USB controllers and it has always been so slow.

Could someone help? I tried to reinstall the drivers from Toshiba, but I think that there are not more special just for the USB, what should I update then? I need to improve the transfer speed of USB data for professional purposes, because I can't lose so given at the time of the transfer, please please please help!

PS: Sorry for my terrible English, but it is there no Toshiba forums on my tongue: P

    Hello

USB drivers are part of the operating system and you are unable to download the USB drivers separately.
In my view, it is really not necessary to reinstall the USB drivers because the USB HDD is recognized correctly and it works.

USB 2.0 transfer speed 480 Mbps supports and if any didn't error message then the USB ports running at full speed.

    Hi Frank

I understand you very well. I have a laptop from a different manufacture with Intel Core Dual CPU, very good graphics card and 2 GB of RAM.

After a few months and the installation of various applications, software Antivirus, firewall, etc. the system performance was just bad. Everything was slow I mean the laptop needed several minutes to load the system and the unique application performance was not satisfactory.

My problem was that too many processes running in the context of the operating system. In addition, the whole registry was confused upward.
I have removed several applications of the autostart folder and cleaned the registry by using a freeware program called CCleaner.

Also, I deleted some programs that are not really necessary for me.
Last but not Lea I ve defragment my HARD drive and my unique partitions.

I have 3 partitions on the HARD disk. It of much better to have more sizes small partitions as a large size of HARD drive.

I hope I could give some useful advice and how to increase the performance of your laptop.

Best regards and good luck buddy

  • My ThinkPad T61 VERY VERY VERY and I mean VERY slow at the start why?

    Hello

I just bought ThinkPad T61 brand new, for $500

    Speed: 2.0

    Memory: 2048

I mean this should be pretty quickly.

in any case, it takes about 5 to 6 min just to start upward and its windows XP Server 2003 with Service Pack 3

and I only have one installed program, its air and nothing else, the computer is still slow like that, even my 2 friends bought the same computer and as slow as mine, his

and if you guys wonder why its cheap, because in my University they sell it at this price for everyone (even the poor guy) to buy a good laptop for a good price.

So what do you of the problem, my friend told me that his perhaps because of windows server 2003 with SP3, but I do not know, and when my University gives me the laptop, they don't give you a CD format, so it's saying I can't get it back to the original Setup, but I think to buy a new CD the problem I can't find XP more, every store I see have Vista only.

so do you think I'll buy Vista so I could have a fast computer instead of a SLWOOOO, and if I go to Vista, is touch pad, the track point and the finger print thing will continue to operate, (I want to say is a drivers for windows Vista)

I know I write a lot, but please help me guys to get the best out of my computer.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Congratulations on your new Thinkpad! And Yes, it will be fast enough.

I would suggestt to uninstall Antivirus like Norton or to get an update for Norton 2009.

AntiVir and AVG are doing a good job too. Uninstall firewall thirdparty, if it is installed.

If you install Vista then, we will work all programs. Install Vista and download the program

    Homepage of Lenovo system update.

It will install all the necessary drivers for you, even for XP, if basic a copy.

    Hello...

2 days ago, I bought laptop Satellite A300D-1gn.
I installed Vista Home and I have a problem with the boot at startup to be valuable. It's too long (about 2-3 min).

  • All of a sudden my system became very slow and duration start increases 15-20 min.

    Hello friends,

I have laptop model Dell XPS. This is the start time increases by nearly 15-20 minutes approximately.

When I turn on the laptop computer, a black screen continue for 5 min. and then it displays the login screen. After entering the username and password it takes 10 min. until the screen is displayed and a circle begins to run on the icon network in the bottom right of the laptop screen as shown below:

You can see run circle right next to the icon of volume and during that time, I can't even open the Windows Explorer.

I have to wait until this stop running for the next 5 to 8 min.

I tried to clean the useless/content files using CCleaner software, but nothing happened.

    What should I do now.

Do I have to format the laptop. In fact I already format the laptop 4 - 5 times earlier.

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded
on your system. For each driver in the list, additional useful information is
Poster: load address of the driver, description, version, product name,.
company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit Maker as replacements and system manufacturer of device which are
the most recent. Control Panel - write - graphics card - device manager
the brand and complete model of your video card - double click - tab of the driver-
Note the version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this can do nothing
MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard
If there are 3rd party with their own software and drivers and the other main device drivers
    you have.

Now, go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restore)
and site (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get the manufacturer and device
their latest versions. (Look for the system to update the BIOS, Chipset and software updates
    Site of the manufacturer here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN -.
    REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you are
installation actually appears. This is because that some rollback of drivers before the
later is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a driver - reboot.
Make sure that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW to the device makers DO NOT RUN THEIR
SCANNER - check manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using
the above methods is preferable to ensure the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system
    and device manufacturers are located)

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable driver facilities

pilots who are generally older and cause problems. If updates provides a new
driver then hide it (right click on it) and then go get new ones manually if
    you want.
