Satellite M30x-165 - rundll 32 exe using 99% CPU

tasks manager told me that rundll 32 exe using 99% of my CPU. (The computer is a M30 X 165) What does that mean? What I have to change that and how do I do this?
Thanks for your help.
Anurakta

Hi Anurakta,

Rundll32.exe is a Windows system file, but it can also be associated with the Whisper B virus.

I expect not to be almost all of your central unit using this way. I suggest that you run a full scan on your system.

Kind regards

    Hello

the next problem is sticky on the laptop Satellite M30X 165 with the burner Mat * a UJ - 831 S: it can read and write CDs, but is not able to write them to DVD or even read some of the ones I've burned and also read in the same drive. Even at the start of the DVD, it does not start from the recovery DVD, the player starts and slows down very quickly.
Without doubt, it must be put at the service of repair or someone has other suggestions?

Could you please tell me how long the repair takes (I know what it takes to install the desktop temporarily used).

    Thank you

Using burning software, it detects the DVD, but invite you to an "error of calibration power (037303).

If you cannot use recovery media, I guess that the drive is defective and must be replaced.

  • Satellite M30x-165: OpenGL in the graphics driver is old

    Hello

    I have a Satellite M30x-165.
I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the page Web of Toshiba.

When I check the version of the OpenGl driver it says that the version is 1.5.4454. Recently, I heard that this version is very old and may cause some problems with certain programs.

The computer does not install the downloaded driver directly from ATI Web page.

How can I update the version of OpenGL?

    Thank you well in advance.

    Hello

The M30X isn't the new laptop series and therefore the graphic driver seems to be not updated to the latest state
Graphics drivers that are released in the Toshiba page are designed especially for Toshiba laptops and there is a big difference between the Toshiba and the drivers of the ATI page. So it's not easy to install the ATI drivers on laptops OS.

But there is one thing; first of all, you can unzip the package and then you could try to update the driver through Device Manager. Here, you point to the folder decompressed driver to update the graphics driver.

This allows you to install non-Toshiba divers would help the Toshiba notebook.

But note; These drivers are not certified for the use of the laptop and so you can ONLY use and YOUR OWN RISK.

  • Satellite M30X-165: new HARD drive does not work

Hi, I want to replace the old hard drive, HITACHI 80 GB in my Satellite M30X 165. I bought SEAGATE Momentus 5400.3 120GB but it seems that it may not be recognized by the BIOS. Anyone know what to do or what types of discs can be used in this notebook? Thanks for help.

    Hello

Sometimes a bios update has solved many issues about installing new hardware.

BUT Please note: the Bios has a limitation of size of HARD drive support. Not all sizes are supported. I guess that the 120 GB are too big and therefore you can not use it!

You must switch to a smaller size. Check with a 80 or 100 GB HARD drive

Noise appears on the recovery image installed Toshiba?

If Yes, I assume that you have installed the operating system from the Microsoft CD and Toshiba drivers and utilities in the wrong order or some drivers are missing.

But maybe the his doesn t appear due to the installation of SP2.
I read in the Sp2 installation documentation (found on the Toshiba driver page) that maybe the Yamaha AC - XG driver sound 6.13.10.2152 must be installed.

    Anyway, please check this possibility.

  • Satellite M30x-165 - screen is black

    Dear all,

    Unfortunately, my screen is black.

Whenever I start my laptop / notebook my screen (display / monitor) is black.

I can't use my laptop because I don't see anything. The system works.

    Why does this happen?
What can I do against it?

    I'd appreciate any help.

    Best regards
    JJ

    Hi JJ,

A friend of me had the same problem on his Satellite M30x too. He didn t see an image on the monitor internal but external monitor works properly.
Also, do you have plugged an external monitor to the laptop? You see an image on the external monitor?

However, after testing an external monitor that works, he replaced the internal screen FL inverter and the laptop working again properly. :)

If t, you can see an image on the external monitor too, it seems to be a hardware problem, maybe the card mother or something else.
    You can access the BIOS?

Drivers for Satellite M30X are placed in the archive on the European driver Toshiba page.
    Product type choose Archive.
    Then the Satellite-> Satellite M-> Satellite M30X

There, you must download and install the Cardbus and Chip Set Utility driver

  • Satellite M30X-165 - broken HDD, need to be replaced

    Hello

2 years and a few months after I bought the M30X 165, the hard drive has some corruptions (it's a Hitachi drive) and the tool manufacturer for consistency checking shows some errors. Hitachi offers a three-year guarantee for these hard drives (Travelstar).

1 but I guess that it is not possible to get the replaced disk (because I bought it with the Toshiba system). Fix?
    2. what would be a good replacement for the reader? [Http://westerndigital.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=346] is a?

    > 1. But I guess that it is not possible to get the replaced disk (because I bought it with the Toshiba system). Fix?
To my knowledge the laptop is covered by the warranty for a year. If you register on the page of Toshiba notebook you could get an extra year warranty (2 years total).
If pieces of hardware will die after the warranty expires, you pay for the replacement.

    > 2. What would be a good replacement for the reader?
The laptop supports the IDE if you buy and IDE HDD.
In addition, you must make sure that the size of the HARD drive is supported by the BIOS.
In my opinion the 250 GB not are just too. Try a 120 GB. I think that it should be compatible.

  • WksCal.exe using 50% CPU

Overview of resources shows that WksCal.exe uses 50% of the CPU resource. For a feature that I even don't use it seems to be down. I know that I can turn it off, but I'm more interested to know if this is an indication of other problems.

    Hello RobtC,

    Thank you for posting.
wkscal.exe process is the civilian component of MsWorks. It works similar to a traditional calendar, which allows you to schedule meetings and set reminders etc. If you find useful MsWorks calendar, you must leave the wkscal.exe running process.

My theory as to why it would be to use 50% CPU, is that it could be synchonizing with a mobile device as in the link here
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309501 .

Please let me know if this has been helpful for you.

  • Explorer.exe using 50% CPU

My Vista has suddenly become almost unusable.  Task Manager shows explorer.exe uses 50% of the CPU.  I rebooted a couple of times.  If I use the Task Manager to kill him I can run programs using the application tab.  The computer works well without exploring. But then I don't have a task bar so I hope it's temporary.  I ran the windows malicioussoftwqare removeal tool - who found nothing.  The program is c:\windows\explorer.exe.

    Does anyone know the solution?

Many times when someone experiences this problem, it may be due to add-ons explore or shell extensions. Consider using Sysinternals Autoruns or ShellExView. Disable Add-ons and non Microsoft shell extensions and verify the behavior.  If he went, reactivate the disabled extensions/add-ons, one at a time and see if you can identify who may be liable.

Try a clean boot, or boot into safe mode.  The behavior persists?

You can use Process Explorer from Sysinternals to check the stack of the thread using the most CPU in the explorer.exe process, when you experience the behavior.  When Explorer uses the CPU as you have indicated, double-click the process in Process Explorer and go to the tab of the Threads.  Sort the list of threads by Cycles Delta (descending) and note the thread at the top. Double-click it and discovered its stack. Look for third-party modules (extensions of shell or modules, AV software, etc.) in the stack.  Disable (Autoruns or ShellExView, maybe) / uninstall these components, reboot and see if the behavior is affected.
  • WksCal.exe using 100% CPU

In the resource window, I see that there are five entrances to WksCal.exe and they use 100% CPU. I thought I had solved in part this problem yesterday when I got rid of all but one of these entries. Today, they are all back. • SearchFilterHost.exe using 50% + cpu - not a new computer power

Since yesterday SearchFilterHost.exe uses 50%-90% of my cpu power. I had the current installation of windows on this computer since a year or two ago and the temptation of power today my hard drive.  I tried stopping the service, but he returned after about a minute of it being stopped. This makes it difficult to make my computer work correctly.

    Hello

Were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?

SearchFilterHost.exe is the process of Windows search. He is involved in indexing, caching, etc.

Method 1: Disable it. File extension XML to be indexed in Indexing Options and check if the problem is resolved.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/improve-Windows-searches-using-the-index-frequently-asked-questions

Method 2: Run a full scan of the system using the Microsoft Safety Scanner to eliminate any virus/malware problem.

    Note:
The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • How to install Win 7 on a Satellite M30X-165 (S)

The laptop has a Pentium clocked at 1.6 GHz and 1 GB of RAM which I would upgrade to 2 GB. I want to change the OS from Win XP to Win 7. I know that Toshiba do not support the software and drivers for Win 7:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=235849𹥉

But when I remove the hard drive, install Windows Vista and later upgrade to Windows 7 If this could be a way to use Vista drivers and Toshiba Software, especially software for function keys. I think that the third-party software should come through Win 7 update.

    Some devices are:
    Intel (r) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection
Realtek RTL8139/810 x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series graphics card
    ENE CB710 Cardbus Controller
    Realtek AC97 Audio
    TOSHIBA Software Modem (not important)

    Some software are:
    TOSHIBA ConfigFree
    Alps Pointing-device Driver
    ATI Desktop component
    TOSHIBA utilities

Long ago, I had Satellite M70 that was machine WXP too. It was not supported for Win7 but I installed it to see how it will work. My problem was to find the display driver, but I found somewhere on the net and the machine was OK. I could use it but without specific Toshiba and utility tools.

Unfortunately on this forum we do have enough information about these updates on old machines. I can only say: install it, test it and post comments.

  • Satellite M30X-165 only boot from a hard drive possible

Today, I tried to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 but no media like CD/DVD bootable and works of disk removable (USB key).

Notepad only boots from hard drive.
With F12 I have a start menu, but no matter what I select that does not work and Windows XP boots from the hard drive. Later, I changed the boot sequence in the bios, but it does not work.

Finally, I did a bios update 1.60 zu 2.00 but I still have the problem.
How can I boot from DVD or USB stick?

Try please enter the BIOS and set it to default settings. After doing this, try again please.
Optical disc drive recognized and listed correctly in the BIOS settings?
It works when you use it in Windows?

Also try another thing. Put the bootable disc in ODD and shut down your laptop. Reboot and press the C key several times. If I m remembering well this should force ODD as first bootabe.

  • Edit the modules of memory in Satellite M30X 165

The laptop has two memory modules with 512 MB of each module. I got an opportunity 1 gigabits.

Can I remove one of the 512 MB modules and install the 1 GB module to get total 1.5 GB of RAM or need two modules of the same size memory?

    I agree with user IronMan.
The laptop seems to support 2 GB of RAM, so the use of modules of 1 GB and 512 MB of RAM should be possible
