Satellite M70: Is it possible to repair the MBR through recovery CD?

Hi, I do not know where should I post. I have Toshiba Satellite M70 and I want to ask if it is possible to repair the MBR through recovery CD) just as you can do with the XP CD.

Thank you.

Hello

As far as I know that something like this is not possible. Recovery media can be used to restore the BONES together. This is an image and there is not some kind of repair option as the CD-ROM of Microsoft full version installations.

    THX

    Hello

Well, in general it s is not possible to replace or update the graphics card.
But I compared a Satellite Pro M70 unit because this series of laptop was delivered with different hardware configurations and I found that these installed graphics cards:
Mobile Intel 915GM Express Chipset AlvisoGM 8 MB to 128 MB shared video memory
ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600SE 128 MB of video memory
ATI MOBILITY RADEON X 700 256 MB of video memory

However, in my opinion you can not change the graphics card

  • Satellite M70-151 - not possible to install new HDD

    Hello

I have a problem with my Satellite M70-151. bunch of old hard drive (100 GB Hitachi) reached the Windows XP screen then just ends with a blue screen a turn off laptop, immediately. I had to restore my data with an application file-rescue of another PC. It was not possible to start from old hard drive yet.

Then I bought a Western Digital SATA II 250 GB hard drive that put my Windows XP CD in DVD player installed and tried to start. The laptop turns off as soon as the laptop computer tried to access the HARD disk.
Thought, it was question of SATA II disk and tried a Samsung 160 GB Sata I - same result.

    BIOS recognizes the correct drives.

If I try to boot from old hard drive, it shows the issue I mentioned first, but as before it reaches the Windows XP Boot screen before moving on to the blue screen before turning off the laptop. So start goes further than the boot with new hard drives

The Windows XP CD I used is not the restore CD that came with the laptop, but a normal license.

The heat is not a problem, I cleaned the CPU fan there is enough space to breathe the cold air mobile, the temperature is ok.

    * My questions are: *.

Is there any special application running on laptops satellite, like special software of Toshiba, perhaps Backup, should I be aware of?
What I need to preformat the hard drive, Toshiba-Hardware will recognize the hard drive?

It would be great to get help on this issue, because I'm out of ideas. Thanks in advance!

    André

    Hello Andrew

This behavior is very strange. I have some old Satellite M70-159 with 100 GB HARD drive. I also tested how it will work with a 250 GB HARD drive and all is well.
On two drives, I have installed WXP using the Toshiba recovery image.

I answer your two questions No. to install Windows XP Home edition on this model of laptop you don't need some special Toshiba application or a piece of software.
HDD should be recognized correctly by the BIOS and the Windows XP Home edition installation procedure should work well.
What you can try is to set the BIOS to the default settings and try again.

The strange thing for me is that judgment. The blue screen tells me that there may be some serious hardware problem, the HARD drive controller might be. It's really not easy to say with certainty what can be the problem.

  • Satellite M70-340 PSM70E: where to find the update of the BIOS for DOS

    Dear,

I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite M70-340 PSM70E.
Some tech guy has messed with my Bios, and now I can't boot from hard disk.

When im going into the Bios Configuration page, he can see the HARD drive. But at the start, he can't.
    Only on CD/DVD and diskette.

I need the Flash and Bios for dos.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I think that you will not get it from the Toshiba page and you would not be able to download this traditional version of BIOS.
As far as I know that you can download the version of the BIOS win and you can update the BIOS ONLY when the Windows operating system is running.

But maybe the Toshiba ASP in your country could be useful. I recommend you contact the guys to get more details and maybe the guys could provide this BIOS or maybe they would Flash the BIOS.

In my opinion only the ASP can help you.

  • Satellite M70-339 - not possible to record via mic internal

I have a Satellite M70-339 (running XP home) not recording via internal microphone

The internal michrophone detects no voice - no wavy on sound recorder and Skype line not to pick up my voice, yet the device manager tells me that it works properly and the microphone is selected in audio and audio settings.

Are you really sure that your model of laptop has an internal microphone? I have the Satellite M70-159 and there is no internal microphone.

  • Satellite M70: I can't connect to the WLan access point

I have several wireless laptops, all work fine - except my M70.
I use Intel Proset, and he sees the access point, but says "unable to connect" when I try.
The signal is high (2 meters distance).

I tried with WEP, WPA and without security. I am absolutely convinced that I entered the right keys.
The access point is a Belkin Pre - N-, but I tried with a point of access 3Com, with the same problem - my Ipaq, my other PC, and all guests can connect,- but not my Toshiba!
The wireless card is the standard Intel, with the latest driver from October 2006 intalled.

    Getting desperate...

    Hello

If you get a signal strong, so I guess that the laptop is already connected to the access point. Or am I wrong?
On my laptop, the computer WLan small icon appears only if I connected to the Wlan and then I can see the State of the signal.

However, you suggested to use the Intel Proset utility to configure the WiFi network but on the clean Windows configuration. Have you tested it?

This question seems very strange to me.
Sometimes it of not possible to connect the WiFi network because of poor compatibility between the router and wireless network card.
My router supports Wlan AB mode and my second card for computer laptop support BG.
That's why I m not able to connect to the Wlan. Maybe it s also your case.

On my router, I can also put the MAC address filtering. You should check this option on your router.
But generally it is not easy to say why it happens. You know you should check every single option and if it s not possible so I guess that it s a compatibility issue.

  • Can I repair the BONES using recovery without loss of important data CD?

I have a problem with my laptop Satellite 1100. The windows OS is somewhat damaged and now won't start. I tried the usual 'use last good config' and boot into "safe mode" but none of these work.

Is there a way using the product recovery CD to fix this without losing the photos and important documents?

    Any help appreciated.

    Hello

Restore CD provided you can install new OS. There is no option for any type of repair of the BONE. I don't know how your disk is configured, but if you have 2 partitions, and all your important data is backed up to the second, you can install the OS on the first partition using Expert mode.

Right now, you can try to get the facilities of Microsoft CD and try to repair the operating system preinstalled.

  • MBR is corrupted, not able to repair the MBR and get error code 0 x 490

    Original title: MBR is corrupted

MBR is corrupt repair action: repair disk metadata - result: failed - error code = 0 x 490

    Hello

According to the description, I understand that you are not able to repair the Master Boot Record (MBR) and getting the error is 0 x 490.

I suggest that you want to run auto repair with installation media and see if it helps you repair system files or not. For the execution of the task, I suggest you to try the steps below and see if it helps.

Method 1: Execution of restarting the Windows recovery environment (WinRE)

To run the repair to start the Windows recovery environment (WinRE), follow these steps:

    1. Insert the Windows installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

    2. When the message press any key to start from the CD or DVD is displayed, press a key.
If your PC does not automatically detect the media

    • When the computer reboots, read on screen for instructions that explain how to interrupt normal startup and access the basic input/output system (BIOS) configuration utility. Most PCs use the F2, F10, ESC or del key to start the configuration of the BIOS.

    • Looking for a tab in the BIOS configuration utility that is labeled boot order, The Options of Bootor Boot. By following the instructions on the screen, use the arrow keys to go to the boot order, and then press ENTER.

    • Locate the flash USB, DVD or CD player (this could be called removable device) in the startup list. By following the instructions on the screen, use the arrow keys to move the drive to the top so that it appears first in the startup list. Press ENTER. The startup command sequence is now changed to boot from the flash drive, CD, DVD, or USB.

    • Press F10 to save your changes and exit the BIOS Setup utility. Select Yes in the confirmation window. The PC will restart.

    1. Select a language, a time and a currency, a keyboard or input method, and then click Next.

    2. Click on repair your computer.

    3. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, select the drive of your Windows installation, and then click Next.

    4. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click on repair your computer.

    5. Click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Startup Repair.

For more information about System Recovery Options, see What are the system recovery options in Windows?

For more information about the Startup Repair, see Startup Repair: frequently asked questions.

If you are using Windows 7 then the link provided below might help you to download and create installation media.

Download Windows 7 Disk Images (ISO files): https://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/Windows7?WA=wsignin1.0

    Method 2

If the problem persists, try to rebuild the BCD by using the Bootrec.exe tool. To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start the recovery Windows (WINRE) environment . To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Place the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

  • Press a key when you are prompted. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.

  • Click repair your computer.

  • Click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

  • In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt.

  • Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

  • Is it possible to stop the conversion through the management network?

Our management 172.16.0.0/16 network and our production network 10.0.0.0/8

When we try to make the P2V conversion, all traffic through the firewall that we use for routing between 2 networks, that really is not set up to deal with a lot of traffic and that is what is extremely slow conversion.

Is it possible to get the converter to push this traffic through the network of production instead?

the system is 3 ESXi hosts grouped in vcenter 5.5.  Is the storage on a San

ESX expose NFC (network file copy) as a service that uses a converter to perform conversions and NFC uses the management network. As far as I know, it cannot be changed.

There is one exception, if--if you do Linux P2V, cloning goes through the network of the virtual machine and you will not have this problem.

I think you may have a more general with this configuration problem, as the NFC is used not only by the converter (for example, SRM, VMotion, etc...). See this: why vMotion uses the management rather than the network vMotion network?-frankdenneman.nl for something completely different, but which may sometimes cause a problem with this Setup.

    Kind regards

  • Re: Is it possible to use the 2nd disk recovery partition?

    Hi all

My question is as the title suggests. Basically, I am planning to install an SSD as drive and use my Player Toshiba of origin as in WEIRD secondary car with an adapter. My concern is will I be able to use the recovery of the second drive partition and if I ever need to return to the State of out-of-box will it format and install everything on my SSD or the original HARD drive?

BTW, my laptop is L755-1 DR.

    Thank you
    DJ_TLG

I can't say for sure but I'm 99.9999% sure that this will not work. When you change the hardware platform (SSD and HDD) HARD disk recovery Wizard will not be able to find the image of recovery due to lack of specific markers.

Create the restore DVD disc and the problem is solved. Of course do this with original laptop hardware configuration and factory settings.

  • Lost the original files, is it possible to recover the project through preview files?

Crashed my hard drive with windows but I have files preview and project on the other drive. Is it posible to recover my project?

Depending on how the bad hard drive is, you might be able to plug it as a secondary drive and specify files off of it or send them to a service to extract the files. I don't think there is anyway to recover the files through something that first creates.

  • Can I update AT200 ICS using the .zip through recovery package?

    Hello

I have still no luck with my AT200, in my view, there is a software bug in my 3.2 honeycomb,
Cannot restore or update but the Tablet works fine did factory rest several times,
Anyway I was wondering if anyone has and update.zip for ics so I can upgrade through the recovery.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think that's not possible, you must update the software through the service station.
Check if you can update the software for Android 4.0 ICS of my knowledge there should be an additional update.

  • Satellite M70 - area more clearly as for the screen and guaranteed

    Hello

My laptop is a M70 and the problem of the screen: there is a fairly large space more "clear" on this subject, which sometimes moves a little or that becomes clear/more darker. The problem appeared a long time ago but continues to evolve and now affects seriously the readability of some documents, and a few other spots seem to appear slowly.
In fact, it seems that these zone can be observed with normal colors, when I change my point of view...
Is such a familiar of her problem to someone?

In addition, because of the breakdown of my power adapter, I recently bought a new, but not a good Toshiba. If I have my laptop with it to the technical service (which is requested in the warranty Handbook), can it be a reason for a refusal of warranty?

    Hello

Well, your description of the problem of the sounds strange, but of course, it could be a screen issue.
What about warranty? Is it valid?
The warranty only covers hardware problems and malfunctions.
For me, it doesn't sound like a software problem, and so the warranty should cover the audit of the laptop, repair or replacement of display.

I read about a strange color on a Satellite A100 series problems. Some pixels were light and dark a few pixels.
The BIOS update has solved this problem.

But you know, this does not mean that the Bios Update will help you.

  • Satellite Pro U400-11V: possible to increase the 60 Hz screen refresh rate

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-11v.
I just realized that my screen refresh rate is 60 Hz (resolution 1280 x 800).
Even I decrease the resolution. It won t be another option 60 Hertz.
Is it possible to increase it?
My monitor is indicated under the generic name of the PnP in the system.

You cannot increase the internal laptop display refresh rate and it of not necessary to go higher, because all the internal laptop screens are running at 60 Hz.
If you would like to connect an external monitor, you will probably see higher available for the external monitor refresh rates.

  • Satellite M70-151 - line gray portrait in the middle of the screen

    Hello

Since a few days of view, I have a problem with my laptop, Satellite M 70-151.

There is a vertical line (dark gray) in the middle of the screen... It appeared when I used microsoft word.
At first I thought that it is just an error display or something... but after a reboot, it was still there... so I tried reinstalling display drivers...
other drivers to install the display, but it did not help anything. The line is not as visible on a screen... It is always in the same place on the screen

so I think that it cannot be that the material... the screen itself, but I was always very carefully with Notepad.

my warranty ran out 5 months ago... do anyone know what I can do now?
Don't know how to fix :(

    (sry for my bad English)

In my opinion, it's certainly a hardware problem. I am not sure, but it must be malfunction of the display. To confirm this test with external monitor. If the desktop without this gray line certainly display problem.

How to solve it? You can live with it or the display must be exchanged. Also, there are not many possibilities. You can contact the authorized service provider to see how much the repair will be fresh, or you can try to view an opportunity (e.g. eBay). The second option is cheaper but without maintenance manuals, you should not disassemble the laptop on your own.
