Satellite P100-307 - massive heat problem, keypad heater

Had my Satellite P100-307 for almost two years now and it's a good and useful media-notebook, but it never HOT side left keyboard, especially games.

But in recent weeks, the keyboard is pretty HOT and I don't know why! Because I6vgt ´m using only low level applications.

I did a full restore to clean any virus or other malware, but it continues to get hot, as if I where in the highest graphics modes, the games, but just I m using IE7 and a LateX editor for the creation of PDF Documents - that s nothing for a dual-core processor! Kaspersky 7.0 has been throtteld down, as far as the security is allwoing it.

So why it s heat like that in 30 to 60 Minutes. He has never done this before, I m sure.

It s so hot, it's quite unpleasant to work with her, because placing even the heel of your hand next to the touchpad makes my hand sweating!

Would be grateful for any comment or advice,

Greetings
AFK

Looks like the laptop is overheated, it is a common problem with laptops that are used in a dusty environment (a room with carpet, for example).

Buy compressed air in a box and spray it in the vents to remove dust.

  • Satellite P100-307 - is - I can change the internal HARD disk 500 GB model?

    Hello

I am a beginner and I would trade my internal 200 GB of HARD drive against a 500 GB Samsung HDD. I have a Satellite P100-307.
    Is this possible at all?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Hello

Theoretically, it should be possible to use 500 GB laptop HARD drive. He already has SATA interface and it would mean that there is no limit of capacity as on the old IDE interface.

So, you can buy every 2.5 HARD drive SATA interface. It makes no difference if you buy A manufacturing or B. It of your choice!

You can give us feedback operation ;)

  • Satellite P100 - 434 BSOD boot problem

    Hello everyone!

I have laptop Toshiba Satellite P100-434 and lately I encountered many problems during startup.

    1. the laptop starts normally until the entry of the password. Then, in the middle of typing BSOD.
    2. the laptop gets BSOD or turns off 2 seconds after the Microsoft bar appeared.
    3. the laptop won't turn on - after launch is only a flash of three blue LEDs on the right and the screen remains blank. No home Toshiba screen.

After a few attempts I managed to get the Toshiba welcome screen (this is after the second flash), but there are other issues later, the laptop shuts down or trying to launch startup repair. He speaks only of unspecified error and restores the previous state.
    4. I tried to enter safe mode, but several times I met the same: the laptop turns off after loading some drivers.

BSOD are too short for me to identify what is ongoing - I noticed something just BAD POOL and IRQL NOT EQUAL to something as if it was something with the drivers, no doubt the NVIDIA driver display. I uninstalled and downloaded a new and installed (version 7.15.11.5666). EMH is NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600. Once, there was some information about dxgkrnl.sys?

I did the Test of memory Windows at startup - no error.

I scanned for any viruses: my AVG removed some Cryptor virus, but the problem is still there.

The operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2.

I don't know what the problem is. This is the driver of display or any other driver? Or maybe some powers of the problems? All advice welcome!

    > Anyway: I would like to know if the problem is hardware, or rather the related software, because I take my laptop to repair if there is something I could do download/resettlement.

This question can be easily answered: you must install the Windows operating system.
If the windows installation would be finished correctly and if you will not see another BSOD after installing, it emits so was related to the (software) system. But if the system is not possible or if BSOD would appear during the installation and after installation, then I suppose that something is wrong with the material of s for laptop.

  • Driver Conexant HD Audio - Satellite P100 PSPA3C Win XP problem

    I have a Satellite P100 PSPA3C MA202C.

I found on the Web from Toshiba site a new Conexant HD Audio 3.44.0.0 driver version for my laptop (Windows XP, 3 GB of RAM)
and had the bad idea to install it. After installation, the sound is terrible Crackle and interruptions.
including the sound of Windows boot at startup, when you first open during playback and audio files.
When a UC program gets started.
    It's never happened before.

I acknowledge that during installation, I received a message from the system
warning that this driver is not signed as having managed the "Windows logo test '.

However, the same situation stands for previous versions of site Web from Toshiba, like 3.21.0.52, who gave the same problems.
Then I wanted to let Windows choose the right driver, but it turns
"Microsoft function driver UAA for HD Audio Conexant Waikiki" which provides its own, but has no audio in (microphone).

So now I'm stuck with the crackling and interruptions of Conexant, or with Waikiki have no microphone.

It's strange, because the initial configuration worked well. Unfortunately, I do not know how to restore the original configuration,
It is not written anywhere, that the system cannot understand itself and of the restoration came with the computer dvd
only allow for a radical total restoration of the status of the day of sale, which is not acceptable.

    What a disappointing experience!

    Can someone help, please?

    Hello!

S DVD supplied with the computer are called recovery disks and it's the way to return to the factory settings.
The disc contains the Windows preinstalled with all the drivers and tools of Toshiba.

I know it's strange, but in my opinion, there is no other way to solve this problem. So back up your data first HARD drive will be completely formatted.

    Good bye

  • Satellite P100-240 includes the numeric keypad, and HD Audio and HD video

    Hello

I will soon buy a Toshiba Satellite P100-240 of LaptopsDirect with a memory upgrade. It says on the site Web of Toshiba, the P100 is not HD Audio and HD video and it also States that it does not include the numeric keypad. Is - this ture? The processor is good on this machine, I mean like a Core 2 Duo.

It also comes with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, is it possible for me to get a buyout of Toshiba site upgrade

    I highly appreciate your replys
    Thank you
    Machanic

    Hello

    > Is the processor good on this machine, I mean like a Core 2 Duo

The CPU is not better than Core 2 Due because he s successor to core Duo.
Intel Core Duo processor T2400 1.83 GHz Yonah works on this laptop.
You can check the detailed specifications of this CPU Intel page.

In addition the unit supports audio chip type high-definition Intel Conexant CX20551-22.
I put t know what you mean by HD video.
Do you mean the HD player? The portable player is a simple DVD Super Multi drive (+/-R Double Layer) and it does not play any DVD HD

You can also check this Toshiba page for more details:

  • Satellite P100-307 Exchange HARD drive help/advice needed

    Hello

Thanks for your recent advice on exchanging my 200 GB HDD in to a 500 GB Sized HDD.

Can you please let me know what I should do with the new HARD disk, so that my P100 can recognize (I format etc.)? I would like the existing to the new mirrored HDD... How does go?

Sorry to bother you with this beginner Questions...

    RGDS

Windows will recognize a new hard drive (I assume that you will start the machine from cd) and it has need of formatting it will tell you. You will then need to change the format to FAT32 to NTFS - Windows Help will tell you how to...
If you are keen on the old disk to the new disk of mirror image, then I think that google some research is in order for example "mirror new portable drive ' there are older versions of disk imaging programs available for free download that will handle NTFS. to search for names include Norton Ghost and Acronis.
How do you think 'connect' the old and new readers - for example, external usb box on a network, set up two disks on a pc.
You can copy all the files using the DOS command xcopy with the selector include hidden files/folders.
Your old drive has a hidden for purposes of recovery partition and you must decide how you manage it.

  • Satellite P100-160 with sound problem

My laptop has been fixed (new motherboard) and I have some problems playing MP3 files.
Playback of MP3 by different programs (Windows media, winamp player, etc.). There are some types of 'cracks', the music is not playing fluently as it used to be.
It seems that there are some difficulties to transfer the data to the player mp3...?
Although this happens not for watching movies.

Together on the machine tests are fine, so I think it's a configuration problem.

    What can be the problem?

    Thank you.
    Chris.

    Hello

First of al, you check if the new BIOS is available.
If you use the old version of the BIOS then try to update!

In addition, you should check your audio driver! If possible update the audio driver too. (do this, but after the BIOS updated!)

    Good luck and best regards

  • Satellite P100 - 307 Error Message: "failed to get read handle.

"Failed to get read handle." Error message that appears whenever I start my laptop. HELP, its boring

Error message that reads "Failed to get read handle." lies at the heart of my screen. Strange that it has an OK button, which means that the computer expects me to think it's ok. It's like the 'So what' button which really did not help them that my computer failed to get read manages? How can I get rid of this message? And why he's here.

It's like setting up a new cell phone and the first time you receive your new number to a text message comes on the screen saying "Otta OK." Who the hell is Otta and what was wrong with Otta initially. In any case, anyone could help me with this, I would of course welcome.

    Hi Thorsten

My first question is; What to hell you have on your laptop?
I never saw the message as "Failed to get read handle."
I have goggled autour and nothing!

Are you able to get into the operating system? O If yes try to restore the operating system to the beginning.
I put t know what you have installed or not installed on the device but I can t believe this is happening without any reason.

  • Satellite P100-222: BIOS password has been set - why?

I have Toshiba Satellite P100-222 and my problem is the BIOS access. A few days ago, I bought nootbook and if I want to go BIOS F2, I have to write a password to enter. My question is do you know where I can find this password? Perhaps this password is default for all nootbooks models? If so, I'll be gratfull to give myself to him or delete.

I'll be waiting to meet you.

    Hi Pawel,

There is no password to the BIOS when you first buy the default on a Toshiba laptop. They are defined by the user through the installation and configuration (and even then they are optional).

If you bought your laptop to a Toshiba dealer, it is possible that the dealer has put the password in this case, you will need to ask them what it is. If you bought your laptop private (of someone else) then the same thing applies, you should ask them what your password.

In any case, if you do not or can not get the password then you need to take the laptop to an authorized service partner for them to reset the CMOS chip and reload the BIOS.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite P100-286 - charge not completely even in stop...

    Hey all,.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P100-286 and my problem is that when it s on and I plugged it load the light orange will be on indicating that the load and it will say connected load, but the battery life does not exceed 96%, yesterday he wouldn t go above 97%, and once again on the eve of 98% (lol) , the thing is when I have the laptop off and have supported (the witness orange still on indicate its charging) it will not load fully. When I turn on my laptop it is always 1% less than it was the last time I got it on as you can see by whats described above... I'm sorry for the long post, it of just quite difficult to explain.

So can someone please help? Is it my battery what should replace is exhausting? Or is it something to do with the BIOS?
Please help, thank you in advance for any response.

    Hello

When the laptop is ON try to remove the battery and after a minute or two inside put once again. Please let me know what happens after that.
To be honest, it is not easy to say why this happens exactly. I don't think THAT BIOS is responsible for this.

Have you used the battery power intensively or your laptop worked mainly on feeding current?

He s strange because according to these Toshiba document the problem should be solved:

The sound card which serves on the Board of Directors is supported by an Intel High Definition Audio

Maybe it's possible to find another audio driver that supports that s chip

  • Satellite P100 - 347 (PSPA6) and Conexant audio problem in Windows 7 64 bit

He is a [old problem | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=175972#175972] which seems to have affected many people.

    Conexant HD Audio (hardware id: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_14F1 & DEV_5047 & SUBSYS_1179FF31 & REV_1000)

There has been no official driver published this work in Windows 7 64 bit. It works fine in 32-bit, windows 7, and using different drivers from other sources + partial + fix can be found.

    Using these drivers:

    [Audio 4.8.0.0 | http://209.167.114.38/support/Download/files_downloads/pspa1c/vista/Audio4.8.0.0.zip]
    [sp35683 | ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35501-36000/sp35683.exe]

and some of the advice [here | http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/Windows-7/Windows-7-64-bit-drivers-for-P100-P105-Users/m-p/67516], it is possible to get the proper functioning, but * only * when using the S/PDIF (HD) audio output. When the S/PDIF cable is removed the internal speakers make noise for a fraction of a second, then silence.

I tried everything and this issue has been around for months and months, but no perfect solution seems to exist. I was wondering if there is a way to update the drivers of the HD Audio Controller, integrated in Windows 7. Or maybe a hack that allows the internal speakers continue to work (they work for one second!)

Please, any help on this would be greatly appreciated

  • On Satellite P100 power supply problem

    Hai
I bought the new laptop Satellite P100. Suddenly it does not start (no power to notebook) and the same time, I have only checked by the only power a/c no result, also do not charge the battery. I put t know what is the reason. Can someone give suggestion?
    Thank you bye.

If the power light is blinking there is probably a problem with the electronic power supply. In this case, the laptop sends flashes code. Read this code, technicians can identify the problem.
Please, don't waste your time but the closest service provider contact allowed in your country.
After 18 months of that guarantee must be valid (it depends of course on where you live) as well as the repair must be free.

  • Satellite P100-202: problems with screen again

Hi all! I write about a problem with the screen of my Toshiba P100-202. I recently posted in the thread "Satellite P100-202: screen will freeze" and my current problem is actually quite similar to what is explained in the thread "Satellite P100-119: display no longer works. Here is my story, hoping someone can help me avoid having to send the computer to a technician:
I decided after my previous problem, get my screen replaced. Everything seemed fine, except on the occaisonal instances, especially when I was using the "Internet Explorer" program, in which the screen sort of will re-start, IE. everything went black for a few seconds (music, etc. However would continue) then (boom) everything should reappear, sometimes in ultra - zoom for a second or two. The computer (OS = Windows 7) would report "problem with NVIDIA graphics driver", and then the operations would continue normally. This happened several times, but not often, and I was not too worried about it. Then, a few days before, I was using the latest release candidate of Internet Explorer 9 and the screen is blacked out and my music has continued and I thought 'OK, no problem' and then after a few seconds, and then the music stopped (and I thought ' uh - oh ') and then the blue screen of death.
OK, don't panic, reboot, but of course there is no word of welcome, no nothing, just a blank screen, with the backlight still works created a worrisome greyish tint. And then suddenly the mouse appears, followed by the entire screen, so I unwisely rejected the incident. Ten minutes later, same thing and this time, not even the blue screen of death as consolement, just gray nothingness.
A few days of rest, a dusting of battery, but no, even if I think the operating system works very well (caps lock light work and little purrs and snoring occur as usual), he has no doubt about the fact that the screen is not working.
PS Sorry if my message is too long, and no, I don't have access to an external display!

While I'm at it, someone is able to explain why a battery lasting 25 minutes can take several hours or even days to recharge?

    Post edited by: trrttrry

Unfortunately I can not offer a final solution or diagnosis, but I think you should test the functionality with the original recovery image (recovery DVD) you have with your laptop.

Install the OS using this disc and test functionality. If the same thing happen over and over again there must be a hardware problem.
If you need to bring the laptop to the service ask first how much cost repair. Maybe it will be too expensive and you can buy the new laptop instead of paying lots of money to repair this old model of laptop.
