Satellite P100-286 - charge not completely even in stop...

Hey all,.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P100-286 and my problem is that when it s on and I plugged it load the light orange will be on indicating that the load and it will say connected load, but the battery life does not exceed 96%, yesterday he wouldn t go above 97%, and once again on the eve of 98% (lol) , the thing is when I have the laptop off and have supported (the witness orange still on indicate its charging) it will not load fully. When I turn on my laptop it is always 1% less than it was the last time I got it on as you can see by whats described above... I'm sorry for the long post, it of just quite difficult to explain.

So can someone please help? Is it my battery what should replace is exhausting? Or is it something to do with the BIOS?
Please help, thank you in advance for any response.

Hello

When the laptop is ON try to remove the battery and after a minute or two inside put once again. Please let me know what happens after that.
To be honest, it is not easy to say why this happens exactly. I don't think THAT BIOS is responsible for this.

Have you used the battery power intensively or your laptop worked mainly on feeding current?

I also note that in this case, the light of battery on my laptop is not blue indicating the battery is full (of course), but neither is it orange indicating that he is in charge, but a few times I noticed that the light flashes when this happens not all the time. You should know that it is not easy to provide an exactly fault diagnosis without putting his hands on her.
What we can do is to provide some sort of suggestions

So I think it could be a faulty battery, so first the battery should be checked.
If problems still persist, then electronic power supply failure might be possible

However, the equipment should be checked and this can be done by an ASP in your country
It would be desirable to communicate with these guys and ask for help

  • Satellite P100-286 - video RAM shared with RAM system

    Hello

First note that I m French sorry for the bad English, I can use.

I have a satellite P100-286 - PSPAGE (T7200 @ 2 GHz, 2 GB DDR2, Gef7900GS) and I noticed that some of the RAM (exactly 271MB) was reserved for the graphics card.

I think that the graphics card has enough memory with its 512 MB, so I don't want to have a part of my RAM to be reserved for the Geforce. I have not found the way to reassign this small part of the system in the bios, and it is independent of the OS (I use Vista and debian and I see the booking even on memtest86) so I ve tried to flash with the latest BIOS but no change.

Is there a way to 'recover' my memory?

    Thank you

Additional question for fans of Linux: why can not I get sound on my laptop running Linux? :'(
It seems that there is no error, but there is no sound even if the sound card, the "HDA Intel", seems to work perfectly, even with the latest updates of the kernel and alsa.
I tried several Linux distributions, including Suse and Mandriva.

    Hello
Unfortunately you can not affect the amount of memory shared by yourself since it is regulated by the BIOS/Chipset and depends on the amount of main memory that is installed.

As far as I know that the shared memory is allocated flexible, which means that if a graphical application needs a graphics memory more then the system returns to the 271 MB shared memory. That's what I know of my machine... but I don't know, it might be different on other models.

Otherwise I have no information on this shared memory thing. You can also see this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shared_Memory_Architecture

    See you soon

  • How to get 5.1 sound on Satellite P100-286

I had to replace my old P100-347 of 2 months, because of cracks on the hinge. The only model they had available was the P100-286. It is almost identical, except one thing, that I was not informed until I got it home and so too late to resume.

Basically, the P100-347 had a SPDIF port and the 286 (as far as I can see), does not work. So, what I want to know is, what kind of sound that I am able to get the decision-making helmet.

I plugged my Dolby Digital amp, and everything seems to be able to get is 2 audio channels, when I would be able to get 5.1 channels... In fact, I would like to have SPDIF, but don't think it will happen.

Can someone advise and give me some advice on solving this.

    Thanks in advance
    Steve

On the Satellite P100-286 S/PDIF port is not available and if you want to have 5.1 surround sound you need to use an external solution connected to the USB port. Google around. You will find quite different products, that you can use with your laptop.

  • Satellite P100-286 - vertical on the screen restart and constant lines

I got this P100-286 with Nvidia Geforce Go 7900 GS and recently the laptop started to freeze options even with vertical lines on the screen tried recovery cd tried to re - install and after installation, that he started to do the same. I have read similar problems in the forum and this is a common problem with Toshiba? I have spend £1500 on this and it is only 3 years old. My friends have older laptops of this almost 6 years old and in good working condition.
Y at - it a suggestion for this problem or a solution? The heat on the basis of the laptop is really hot and it's like that for centuries.

Any help is really appreciated after spending so much like to last longer or it is a problem of reliability with the Toshiba brand.

    Hi vns.

Hmm strange. I have ever read on these issues here in the forum with Satellite P100. Friend of me has the same model and it s still does work correctly, no problems at all.

Do you have the same vertical lines on a screen? If so, it is certainly associated with the internal graphics card and not watch.
By the way: you have the same problem in the BIOS or just Windows?

With regard to the heat on the underside: I think that it s time to clean it and remove dust. You can do this using the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. That's why it of not necessary to disassemble your laptop.

  • Satellite P100-286 - upgrade to 4 GB of RAM but BIOS only reports 3 GB of RAM

Hello, I would like to know if someone can help me...!

I have a portable P100-286 Toshiba with the following specifications:

    Processor Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7200 - 2 x 2 GHz processor
    2 GB RAM (2 x 1048)
NVIDIAÃ? GeForce Go 7900 (memory: 512 MB)
    Vista Home Premium 32-bit

    Full specifications here:

According to this specification, the laptop can handle up to 4 GB of RAM:

    "Memory system: standard: 2 048 (1, 024 + 1, 024) MB, maximum of extension: 4 096 Mo, technology: DDR2 (533 MHz) RAM.

I just upgraded using 2 x Corsair 2 GB of RAM Sodimm DDR2 667 MHz/PC2-5300. I understand that Vista 32 bit may not report all 4 GB of RAM (it is not, only 3 GB reports), but I understand that Vista Service Pack 1 can solve the problem.

However... confusedly BIOS ALSO notes that 3 GB of RAM. Does anyone know why the BIOS is not seen all the 4 GB? I tried to read about it online, and some advocate a BIOS update. However, many people also say it would be extremely risky.

Can someone give me some ideas as to what I can do to the BIOS then it recognizes all the 4 GB of RAM?

    Thank you very much!

You're not 100% good. The 32-bit Windows OS cannot use the entire 4 GB due to the limitation of the 32-bit operating system. After the installation of Vista SP1 will display full 4GB but it will still use only 3 GB.
To use all of the 4 GB, different components like CPU, BIOS, OS and chipset must support this. If one of these doesn't support 4GB while the laptop components will use only 3 GB.

    Update the BIOS

People are right. The update of the BIOS must help to recognize the 4 GB in the BIOS.
But it s also good that the update of the BIOS is risky.
If you want to use a bad BIOS or bad procedure to update the BIOS that can damage the ROM. module

    Good bye

  • Satellite P100-286: cannot use Bluetooth after installing XP

I have a portable P100-286 Satellite with bluetooth. It used to work OK but since I re-installed Windows XP SP2 I can't use bluetooth.
There is nothing in the control panel and nothing in the hardware Manager that mentions the bluetooth.

I installed al the latest drivers and BIOS updates and still nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas why I don't see bluetooth?

I think that you didn't install the driver BT properly and didn t activate BT

First download the pile of BT since this Toshiba BT Portal:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/

BT installation restart the laptop and turn it on by using the FN + F8 key combination!

Hope that this will enable BT again

  • Nothing happens when I power the Satellite P100-286 upward

I have a P100-286, and it has been a great machine until this week.
I turned it on and nothing happens.

The power light, battery and lights close to the speakers all light up.
The HARD drive light comes on briefly then turns off, the screen never lights and nothing happens.

Y at - it sort of lock, I can have accidentally turned on to turn off my HARD drive, or is it just tired?
I hope not, but really need help.

    Thank you very much

    M

    Hey,.

    You can try this workaround:
Remove the battery and the AC adapter and wait an hour. After that connect the two devices. Try to start the laptop and see what happens.

If it doesn t work it appears to be a malfunction of the equipment. Maybe the motherboard or the CPU needs to be replaced, but ASP can check for you. :)

  • Satellite P100-286 - HDD upgrade question

I'm looking in the upgrade of my HDD, i.e. with the P100-286 Fujitsu MHV2200BT. I would like to find a disk with a RPM faster and perhaps a slightly greater capacity also.

I found the information on the MHV2200BT and see that there is a box slightly larger than most portable 2.5 "HDD. SA is 12.5 mm height, rather than the usual 9.5 mm.

This will make unfit to buy another HARD drive?
I need to find another housing or casing for HARD drive?

Here are the stats on the current model... http://www.fujitsu.com/us/services/computing/storage/hdd/mobile/mhv2200bt-sata.html

I think to do this HARD drive to replace it... http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/320-GB-Western-Digital-WD3200BJKT-Scorpio-Black-25-SATA-300-7200-rpm-16MB-Cache-12-ms

Thank you for any additional information.

    Hello

Hmm the old HDD is 12.5 mm and the new is 9.5mmm
Well I put t exactly how the HARD drive has been mounted in the P100 of boyfriend but in many cases, the HARD drive is placed in the media (media).

If the new HARD drive would mingle not with this support.

But why you put take t a 12.5 mm HARD drive? There are a lot of 2.5, 12.5 mm, SATA hard drive that would be 100% compatible with your laptop!
    Looking a little bit...

  • Satellite P100-257 does not work with the new drive HARD WD SATA II 320 GB

Please could someone knows how to solve my problem.
I bought new HARD drive to upgrade my Toshiba Satellite P100-257:
Western Digital SATA II WD3200AAKS 320 16 MB
(Originally was installed Toshiba MK6034GSX 60 GB HARD drive)
When installing Windows XP (from Toshiba disk recovery or all other disks), when the Installer starts copying the files to the temporary directory HDD (after HDD format) encounter a problem like "cannot write files to the HARD drive.
I tried to format the drive before installation (even to split to 2 smaller logical drives).
Also I have updated the BIOS at 2009-03-04.
    But nothing changes.
    What is the problem?

    Hello

It seems that the HARD drive has been recognized because you can receive the error message about the Master Boot Record.

I think that there is something wrong with the partitions on the HARD disk.
I put t know how you formatted the HARD drive, but I think that you must first reinstall the operating system on a partition in order to check the functionality of the HARD drive.

Once you have started using the Windows XP disk, try to create more than one partition and this format to NTFS. Then follow the installation of the OS!
