Satellite P300: What is Backlight.exe - Files\Toshiba\TBS program

Hi, on my P300 (although I suspect it will be on all models), there is an application "program Files\Toshiba\TBS\Backlight.exe."

And I wonder what he's doing and how (as applicable).
By running normally, or as an admin does nothing.

Thank you

    I you thankful if you could help, its a super computer

    > 1) would be reformatting my laptop fix these problems?
    Probably yes

    (> 2) 2 discs "TOSHIBA satellite p300 etc. product recovery media and said windows vista ultimate 64-bit.
    As far as I know that P300 was equipped with HARD drive recovery and Vista 32 bit was preinstalled. There should be an option that allows to recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive option. Press F8 when the laptop starts up. Then choose fix my computer and start HARD drive recovery.
    This should set the machine to factory settings. Finally, you can create a recovery disk using the Toshiba recovery disc Creator called preinstalled software.

    (> 3) should I make a copy of the PRODUCT ID series vista on my system menu screen
    You can do this, but as far as I know the Vista on the Toshiba Recovery disk is already enabled and you don t need the series keys.

    (> 4) how would these discs...
    Usually you have to boot from that disk

    PS; For more details you should read the user manual and must read the discussions in this forum!

  • Satellite A210 - what are the tools of Toshiba?

    Can someone please help me understand some of the utilities / tools available from the Toshiba download site?

    I am trying to install Windows 7 RC1 on an Equium A210. Some of the utilities and drivers, I can understand; for example, things like the acoustic silencers, updated the BIOS, driver Bluetooth Monitor, Bluetooth Stack, controller card, reader DVD reader, display, update Firmware, infrared Driver, LAN Driver, Modem Driver, Sound Driver, Touch Pad Driver & Wireless Lan Driver makes sense.

    I can guess, but I'd like to know EXACTLY what the purpose is of other things such as:
    o help
    o Config Free
    o Desktop SMS
    o Fingerprint Software
    O hardware configuration
    O online product information
    o SD utilities
    driver o SPS
    O supervisor password utility
    o TEMPRO
    o tiles for Mobility Center
    o Value Added Package

    I can't find any sort of description as to what these things do, and why they would be useful for me; can anyone help... Please?

    And what is the Flash Media Driver?

    The exact model and specifications of my laptopl isn't important ine relatively to this question and I realize that none of these things are certified for use with Windows 7, but this really isn't the point; I don't know what they are used to with Windows Vista or XP or.

    Respect of your question, but for the EXACT description, someone here must have a lot of time and try to explain it all. The functionality of certain tools is quite complex and you can play around with these tools to see what they offer and what you can do with it.

    My brief description of the tools here, I know:

    * Toshiba Assist *.
    Is a small tool where you can find shortcuts to the key tools and utilities.
    With these tools, you can optimize and customize the operating system preinstalled

    * ConfigFree *.
    Is a tool that helps you identify problems with LAN/WLAN connectivity. To find out what it is and how it works read help option.
    There you can find guide of how to use it.

    * Desktop SMS *.
    Should help you send SMS via Outlook or Windows mail - http://www.comunified.com/

    * Fingerprint software *.
    If the laptop comes with fingerprint sensor, this tool is for the registration of fingerprints.

    * Hardware Toshiba of installation *.
    Just open it and check all the available settings.
    Sorry, but it is not necessary to write some explanations.

    * Online product information *.
    Simply open and you will understand what it is.

    * SD utilities *.
    Format SD memory card installed, and you can format the cards you use in multi-card
    (the location where you put the cards compatible and readable)

    * Driver SPS *.
    SPS driver required for DVD playback software, if you want to upgrade your operating system.
    Otherwise the won´t of DVD playback works.

    * Supervisor password utility *.
    If you want to create a supervisor password (locks complete BIOS or allows other users to change certain features in the BIOS).
    Not required for the features, just a security feature/add-on.

    * Tempro *.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/generic/TEMPO_RELEASE_V1/

    * Tiles for Mobility Center *.
    is a Toshiba from the Toshiba Assist plugin and the other will lock the computer (like pressing Fn + F1).
    You will find in the Windows Mobility Center

    * Value added package *.
    To make things more easy Toshiba packed 7 different tools in one package. In the past, each tool has been installed separately.
    Now, using a setup.exe that each of them will be installed. VAP contains:
    -Toshiba components pilot common
    -Toshiba Utilities
    -Toshiba PC Diagnostic tool
    -Toshiba Power Saver
    -Toshiba Button support
    -Toshiba zooming utility
    -Toshiba Flash cards

    Flash media driver should help settle the multi-card reader.

    One last thing:
    Normally Don t you need to update a driver. most of the components are installed immediately after a clean install of Win7. Just update those remaining. If you are not experienced in the use of certain applications or installation of drivers, it would be the best way to allow Win7 install your machine.

    Bye and good luck!

  • What is dwm.exe file I found suddenly in my application data folder?

    I had problems with my hung on a file named dwm.exe anti-virus software.  I go back there since last night windows prefetch file.  I have no idea what this file is located, I can't draw any type of file association properties and whenever I try to move it to the trash, I get a message saying that I can't access because it is used.  When I go to Task Manager and stop the process, it simply appears again a few minutes later just return in application, but not associated with a particular program data folder.  Avast is not seen as a virus when parsing, but it keeps popping up as the source of several warnings of malware by the anti-virus program.  What the devil am I going here?

    If you have Vista - even if you have posted in forum Windows XP - dwm.exe is the Vista Desktop Window Manager and is responsible for the graphic effects to Microsoft Windows Vista operating system such as the live previews of windows 3D effects and transparencies to windows.

    What version of Windows you have, including the service pack?

    Do not include in C:\Windows\prefetch... those who are not 'real' files but are used by Windows for loading of the speed of the applications.  Do not delete something \prefetch with the idea that doing so will improve performance.  It will not.

    You say that your anti-virus software warns of this file, but then say that "Avast sees a virus during the scanning."  If you simultaneously run two anti-virus applications, don't.  Choose a.

    What antivirus and anti-malware applications do you use?  That are configured to run all the time (that is, in the background scan)?

    This program complains dwm.exe and what is the exact message?

    Finally, it is always possible that the malware has disguised himself using a legitimate file name.  Where is (other than \prefetch) location dwm.exe?  Right click and take a look at its properties and its relationship to what you see.  If not in C:\Windows\system32, there probably IS malware.

  • LED power button problem FIXED on Satellite P300

    Toshiba
    LED power button fix

    Toshiba
    Satellite P300-h-13

    By Thom
    Wijtenburg

    First of all, I would like to
    say you that I came up with this correction, after a clean reinstall of the
    Vista. (I used the serial number of windows on the bottom of my laptop for)
    install, so it's the same license as the OEM of windows and therefore
    Tout_a_fait legal.) After the clean install and installation of all the
    the drivers listed on the site of toshiba LED power button (also
    known as the mute button) and the CDDVD butten (mediaplayer button)
    stopped working. After browsing around forums toshiba I found
    this case, I removed the support button utility that the mute button has acted as
    a mute button. Also the mediaplayer button worked fine. Reinstalled
    the utility support for the button and they have stopped working. After many
    toshiba calls (I think about 5-6 in one day) they opened a
    support ticket for me, because they (team support callcenter)
    could not find a solution. Following their advice, I did the
    next to try to make it work:

    * Don't have a system restore with the restore DVD.
    * Do you have an another clean install.
    * Install the drivers in various ways (alphabetically reversed by alphabetical order and order of collection DVD).
    * update my BIOS.
    * downloaded a 'new' version of value added package (which was the same thing I already had).
    * installed the VAP with and without technical support button utility, no changes.
    After doing everything
    This, they said that they did not know the cause of my problem (at the beginning
    they thought it was hardware related). They came with a possible
    anwer:

    "It is."
    possible that we removed some features of windows vista
    operating system so that our one utility for device drivers
    work. In addition, we do support the configuration, that we delivered
    When you bought the laptop. »

    Now of course, I have
    understand that. I waited allmost a week, no response. Neither
    by electronic mail, or by phone, so I decided to google more
    on the problem.

    After a certain
    some research on Toshiba forum and Googling I came across
    a thread that sayd I must first install the utility 'control '.
    and the button press. Unfortunately what it did not work.

    Then, all of a sudden
    Windows displays a message saying that I should install the TOSHIBA.
    "ACPI-based value-added general use and logical device driver.
    I clicked on the provided download link, and the VFR package was a newer version
    version of the support page for my laptop which is held. So I downloaded
    This PPV version 1.17 and installed it. After a reboot, the buttons
    still did not work. But at least I got the file HWSetup.exe, where I
    could turn the LED off. Look into the button holder utility, I have
    saw that there where buttons like "Toshiba Assist" which my
    the laptop model is not.

    Navigation
    through the toshiba forum I found a file named ButtonSettings.ini, in
    which I can manually configure special keys. After a google
    search on the name of the file, I found that all the buttons list
    in a registry key. I saw the "Dimmer" file using the button
    folder and clicked on it. Poof... lights went out. Click again,
    Poof... lights turn it back on. So I replaced the wrong button definitions
    with CDDVD and dimmer values. Saved my changes but is not a restart.
    Opens the support button utility and change the path of
    MediaPlayer (who was always there to a previous definition) to
    Dimmer.exe. checked to see if the button CDDVD pointed
    MediaPlayer and restarted. When everything has been started, I pushed on the
    button again and presto... MUTE lights off. Pushed again, poof...
    lights. Pressed the mediaplayer button and started to mediaplyer. I have
    has been very happy when everything worked.
    Now that you
    know the story, here's the fix.

    * Difficulty: *.
    * Download and install the new VAP from here: [http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/util_tvap_26084A.exe]
    * Choose Edit in the installation and make sure that everything is checked
    * do NOT restart after the installation.
    * Download the ini fix and the fixed registry
    * Uncompress its contents into your working folder.
    * Copy the ini into C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TBS (where C: is the drive of program files)
    * In this same folder, start the exe called TBSbtnSt.exe
    * do NOT restart, click on 'no' in the dialog box.
    * Double click on the registry key, and then click 'Yes' to add to the registry
    * Then open the button support utility by clicking Start-> Toshiba-> utilities-> Toshiba assist. Help go to optimilization and click support button tohiba
    * If the path or the description is disabled, fix, and then click Save. See also if the CD/DVD mediaplayer points.
    * Restart you computer now.
    * If everything is is well past your special buttons should work.

    * WARNING: *.

    It worked for
    me, with my Toshiba Satellite P300-h-13, edition windows Home premium 32-bit.
    It should work on any model of 6 buttons with the mediaplayer and the mute
    buttons. I am in no way responsible for any damage that may arise
    If the fix does not work correctly. There is absolutely no. GARUENTEE
    It will work for you. If the answer is Yes, he does, and if it's not it
    doesn't work.

    * Author: *.

    I came
    With this fix by myself, without any help from toshiba support. I am
    the original author of this text. This document is for information
    purposes and should not be modified in any way.

    This page is
    also hosted on my Web site for documentation purposes. I have
    contacted toshiba support on my support ticket and has asked to
    Cancel and read this. I have also explained in the world.

    Wow, that's really cool! I think that a lot of users here would appreciate this extraordinary well documented fix.

    Thanks dude. :)

    Welcome them

  • failure to launch the .exe file missing from Lightoom 6

    I downloaded Lightroom 6 twice now, because it does not start from the shortcut.  I can't find an exe file in the Program Files to launch directly.  Otherwise, anyone having this problem or have a solution?

    I am answering my own question... you must first log out of creative cloud and then reconnect.  Don't know why, but it works.

  • Problem by associating files with a program.

    I installed a new program and have problem associate the file type for the program.  Whenever I pass by the exercise, he would only associate to the wrong program.  I assumed I could do in the registry, but not too sure how to in this regard.

    I have followed the first link, downloaded the unassoc.zip and run the unassoc.exe file.  The program deleted the extension I wanted to delete.  According to the program of the extension has been removed.  I ran the default programs later and found that there was still the extension in question.  I restarted the computer, the situation remained.  I double-clicked on the file in question and he still tried to open with wrongly associated program as indicated on the default programs.

    I tried what all other links suggested before that I started this thread.

  • Satellite P300 - 20 H - what should I do after HARD drive recovery?

    Hello

    I just picked up my Satellite P300 - 20 H, using HARD drive recovery,

    Any ideas as to what I should do now? Laptop backed up, HDD Recovery wiped and returned the laptop to factory default. What should I do now? I never wiped a laptop or a PC before. I did the restore via the HARD disk and all came back when I got the laptop almost 2 years ago but now I have 108 updates to windows, and my Toshiba Tempro does not work.
    I have to update all the drivers on the laptop and if so, how do I know what needs to be updated and how can I do this?

    I went to the Toshiba site and he gave me a list of the drivers available for my particular model but I am not sure how much of these driver updates, I need to actually download and update.

    If someone could help me it would be really appreciated.
    I would be delighted if someone could just explain to me, because I don't know anything about pc / laptop and just want my laptop back to power. So that everything works correctly. I read in the section of the conductors, on toshiba.com that not all windows service packs must be downloaded not all work along the coast Toshiba laptops. So im stuck if I have to download and install updates Windows 108 that are required to be installed also.

    Hope someone can help out me.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey,.

    I m wondering about your question: it seems that you have made the recovery of HARD drive but you didn t know what HDD recovery not right?
    As you have noticed, it will restore your computer back to factory settings. You have the same settings that you have purchased. It is therefore useful if Windows doesn t start more or you want to reinstall Windows.

    You can use your laptop as before: there is no difference. All Windows updates should be installed, that's very important because they are security updates day and you help protect your computer. So, start Windows updates and follow the installation.

    Site Web de Toshiba driver updates aren't important, only when you notice problems. If this isn't the case, you can forget the driver updates. ;)

  • Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator does not work on my Satellite P300

    Hello

    I need to make my drive recovery for my Satellite P300 (PSPCCA-05V01Y), but the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator does not work, as it is said that it is not a file on the pc HARD drive recovery.
    I tried before, and he had a problem with the core files, saying he was corrupt.
    So I was wondering if there is in any case I can download the installation of HARD drive recovery so that I can install and put it back to "factory condition" and reburn the recovery disk?
    Cheers for any help
    Mikey

    Hello Mikey

    The situation is quite complicated. When you've got your laptop recovery files was recorded on the second partition in folder HDDRecovery. The second partition and backup files should not be modified.

    If you did something with the second partition or this file recovery Toshiba creator cannot find these files and the recovery media cannot be created. This will work with the factory only settings. but I see another problem there.
    Theoretically, you can now install new OS using the installation procedure of recovery HARD drive and with factory State, you should be able to create DVDs, but if the Toshiba Recovery creator can not find the files I'm afraid that the installation of HARD drive recovery can have the same problem.

    If you want you can test. Try to start the installation of HARD drive recovery.

    Hi sam2149,

    There s no problem to get the Toshiba tools again. You don't need TEMPRO to download all the tools, just visit the Web from Toshiba website and download all the drivers and tools you want:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers
