Satellite Pro 4600 ACPI Bios error

Hello

I have a Satellite pro 4600. When I started today the machine displays a blue screen stating that the acpi bios is not fully compliant and does not start in windows. He suggests the update of the bios I did to version 2.6, but still no luck, wont let me in in either safe mode

Any help is appreciated

Thank you

Hello

Until you want to start the operating system please check the BIOS settings and set it to ACPI > Enabled. Don't forget that your BIOS supports ACPI option. If there is no success the only solution is to reinstall the operating system and don t change BIOS settings after installation.

Before the start of the operating system the hardware will be verified by Windows. I hope that your update of the BIOS is to download site of Toshiba and designed for your device.

Good bye

  • How to access the BIOS on Satellite Pro 4600 settings?

    Guys,

I received a Satellite Pro 4600, unfortunately this laptop has 2 and a half proceeding on this issue. The first is MS2000, then XP then an incomplete installation of XP. When I start the laptop, it asks which OS I want to use. I have a legal copy of XP that I bought and I want to reformat the computer laptop and put on a new install of XP, the problem is how to enter the BIOS to change the settings to boot to a CD?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Steve

    Hello

First of all you n t need to access the BIOS to boot from the CD.
You can simply press the F12 key immediately after the laptop has been powered.
It would show the available boot options.

Alternatively, you can press the C button that would automatically allow the CD/DVD drive as the boot source.

  • How to remove the Satellite Pro 4600 BIOS password?

A friend of mine recently bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 (PS460E-03371-EN). Unfortuately the password of the BIOS was set before the purchase and would like to know how to reset it.
The machine will not start now.
Any help as to the location of the BIOS battery or work around this problem will be appreciated.

    Hello

To remove the BIOS battery will not help. BIOS by removing on laptops is more complicated than on desktop computers. BIOS by removing the procedure depends on the laptop model and it is not the same on all models of laptops.

A lot of people get the laptop with password and to provide an accurate description how do this in the public forum is not good idea.
Have you tried to contact the person who sold this laptop and ask BIOS password?

  • Satellite Pro 4600: How to reset or remove the BIOS password

How can [1] I reset the password?

[2] can update BIOS floppy be helpful for bios reset?

[3] otherwise, you know another method?

    Kind regards
    Aloni.

    Hello

1.) it of not possible to remove the BIOS password yourself.
If you forgot the password of the BIOS, then contact Toshiba service partner in your country to remove the password.

2.) each laptop has a BIOS procedure. You should check the Toshiba FAQ - How can I update the BIOS-
Please check this Toshiba support page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=Direct_Support_e u

But if the BIOS password you can not pass the BIOS. The password of the BIOS must be removed for updating the BIOS.

    Hello

I get a message "Press any key to resume failure continues" every time I powere to the top of my Satellite Pro 4600. It then remains on a white screen and I am unable to do anything. Someone at - it suggestions on how to solve this problem?

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

Check if the BIOS is set to RESUME (function that remember have been closed and continue on this same place).

To do this: when the TOSHIBA logo is shown be very quickly press the ESC key a short time.
You should get an error message and press F1 to enter BIOS. Search for Power-up mode (or something very similar). Set it to BOOT.

If it is already set to BOOT, or it does not help, try pressing the reset button when the screen is empty as you say. You should find it on the, I think that, left side of the machine. Look closely on the sides. You should find a small hole.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro 4600 very unstable and BSOD

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 c750/128 with xp installed.
It was ok, but slow, so I've updated at 500 MB of memory.

He now became unstable under windows and throw a screen blue after awhile, which is a related, but firm and we will restart until I have a chance to read the error message.

I tested the new memory from one day to the next with memtest and run 4 passes all tests without error, about 9 hours of operation (on the back).

The event log indicates a discharge, but this does not mean a lot to me.
The event log has an error during startup, what was there before the memory upgrade.
Googling Sugest a fix to update the bios, it's always available for this laptop bios?

The BIOS should be available for this former Satellite Pro 4600.
The BIOS and drivers must be placed on the page of European driver of Toshiba.
Here, you will need to search the Archives!

But I doubt that the error is caused by the BIOS.
Is the laptop ran stable also with the previous BIOS and it foolish to update the BIOS to fix this problem.
I'm sure it won't change anything!

Upgrade the RAM and BSOD appears now.
I think that the problem is related to the RAM, even if the ram test didn't find any errors
The RAM may be not compatible also if no error has been detected.

I recommend that you test the laptop without the new RAM and check if the BSOD will appear again.

  • Satellite Pro 4600: Win2k with SP4 - cooler run all the time

    Hello

last week, I bought a used Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 PIII, 1 GHz, 512 GB of Ram, WIFI and DVD burner. Great machine so far.

After that I changed the FAT32 file system to NTFS and reinstalled Win2K/SP4 cooler runs all the time.

TaskManager says that "THOT_KEY.exe" uses up 99% of the CPU power. Disabling this service reduces the power of the processor and the cooler was quite, BUT didn't really helped - lots of keys does not work.

I ran a few utilities to disinfect as Kaspersky, NOD32 etc. to ensure that Ia´ve not taken some malware.
Should I try a bios update or change some settings?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for help

    Hello

AFAIK the THOT_KEY.exe belongs to the Toshiba Hotkey utility that controls the various key functions.
If you disable this service, you will not be able to use the FN keys more.
I m not 100% sure why this service uses 99% of CPU performance, but perhaps that it s not completely compatible with the W2K service packs. Where did you download this utility? I found it on the page of Toshiba Europe!

In my opinion, you should try to reinstall the system again. This is probably the key!

    Good luck

  • Screen broken on Satellite Pro 4600

Several years ago, we broke the monitor on our laptop Satellite Pro 4600 computer series. Yesterday, that I took it out to connect to TV and see what data (especially photos), we had on what I was able to backup to an external drive. However, it doesn't start. I only see one tiny bit of the message displayed: "* bad ' and on the next line"check knew. "

I tried to boot with the disk support, but it does not work. By pressing Fn + F5 does not control the settings of the monitor with her in this State, I can't see the full mesdage. I'd rather not use the recovery and the Configuration Builder CD because I want to see my files...

    Any ideas?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi King_2,

    the quick and easy way:
-go and get a usb-to-ide-usb adapter
-Take out the hard drive and
-connect with the adapter usb to another machine
now, you have access to all your files!

    the long way:
-Connect a monitor to the machine
-Make sure that the external monitor is your primary display
-check the bios and set date/time
    -pray
-try to boot your operating system
-course data on external hard drive

This adapter is about 15 euros, and you can use it more than once!

  • Cannot read DVD on Satellite Pro 4600 movies

    Hello

After a clean install of Win2K on Satellite Pro 4600 I am unable to play any DVD movie. I am able to access the data of the DVD discs. The error message is:

"There is not Windows 2000 compatible compatible dvd decoder installed on this system."

I was able to play DVDs when running Windows XP.

I searched online and on these forums for an update of the software for my DVD player (model SD-C2402) but have been unable to find one. I should be grateful if you would be pointing in the right direction.

    Thank you

    Hello

I have good experiences with VLC media player. Try to use it.
Back to your problem. I think you need to MPEG2decoder. Googled around and look for any W2K codec pack. After installing it, I'm sure that everything will work properly and you will be able to watch DVD movies.

As I wrote already test VLC media player. It's really good.

  • Restrict HD for Satellite Pro 4600?

    Greetings!
I thought of upgrading my Satellite Pro 4600 (PIII 800 MHz, 20 GB, 386 MB RAM) with a larger HD.

My question is: what are the limits of this upgrade? Can I put in we'll say a 60 GB HDD? 80 GB? or is the satellite Pro 4600 limited to 20 or 40 GB?

I am running Win XP, bios and other updates specific to the Toshiba computer are up-to-date.

BTW: can I choose freely amongst external hard drive? Are there any size limits for these storage devices?

(The satellite Pro 4600 is a robust small snowman isn't?) I pulled a joke with a colleague: "Hey, I got an apartment yesterday when driving in the countryside. The road was all mud and I had to use my Toshiba under the jack! ("He thought me :)...).

    /Wade

    Hey,.

Toshiba has a HDD 40 gig for the model, but I'm not really sure if you can upgrade the model 60 or 80 GB

    See you soon
