Satellite Pro A120 - dead in my keyboard keys

Hello!

Some keys on the keyboard of my laptop died. He started only with the keys V, M, dot comma, apostrophe, delete and end. But after 2 weeks, the keys B, N, slash and enter also died. I already cleaned the keyboard, but nothing happens.

You guys can help me with this? Thank you.

Hello

Hmm, I think that in the case of you only a keyboard replacement.
Of course, you can easily remove the unique keys from the buttons on the keyboard and might clean the space under the keys, but I n t think that it might help to solve your problem.

Try to contact local ASP and ask for help. The technician can help you with the replacement of keyboard, and if the warranty is valid, everything must be done for free.

Good bye

  • Satellite Pro L650-1QG: incompatibility of keyboard key

    Dear audience,

I am not satisfied by the keyboard of my Satellite Pro L650 1QG I5-4 settings.
Before I had a Satellite S5200-701 that has worked well for almost 8 years after, I replaced almost any critical component to half-life.

Finally the controller was unserviceable and last week the laptop worked no more after this problem has resided for six months but the laptop did not fail until last week prompted me to install and use my new laptop.

I felt very comfortable with my old laptop and its parameters.

However, the new laptop has an inadequate setting of its keyboards.
"ALT GR" is replaced with my old keyboard and hold the 'CTRL' key has exactly the same position as on my old laptop so that it is possible that I write a 'CTRL-Q' when I tried to type 'ALT GR Q' or '@' which happens quite often and stops the program (EXIT).

How can this problem be solved. Is it possible to get a fix? Either by replacing the CTRL key with a deaf person, or changing the configuration of the computer?

I'm not sure I can adapt to this problem from any 'normal' keyboard is different and similar to my old laptop and work with a USB keyboard is no solution!

    Thanks, Headlost

I think that there are not many options for you you used a keyboard that has supported a different layout, L650-1QG supports the 102 (Euro) A4 + 10key flat standard black keyboard that can be different from the old Satellite 5200-701 keyboard.

Don't know if you can replace the keyboards because of the measures so maybe one and the only option for you is the use of the external USB keyboard that would be similar to Satellite 5200 701 keyboard

  • Replace a keyboard on a Satellite Pro A120

    Hello
A replacement for is keyboard come for a satellite Pro A120. It needs to be replaced due to one of the door-clip cap was broken off and is now the key in place.

Can someone guide me through the replacement of the keyboard on this device please?

    Thank you
    Steve

    Hello

Usually something like this should be done by a technician because the replacement of the keyboard could cancel the validity of the warranty!
    Anyway.
To set the keyboard with the 2 screws that are hidden beneath the thin cover above the F1, F2, etc. keys

-Insert the tip of your finger into the slot on each side and remove the door-keyboard.
-Remove the 2 screws securing the keyboard.
-Lift the upper part of the keyboard while freeing up the hook and turn the keyboard
    face down on the palmrest.
-Remove the 1 screw and plate of keyboard.
-Disconnect the keyboard cable from the CN3230 connector on the system board and
    Remove the keyboard.

All that s. But as said above, if you have no experience and don't want to lose the warranty, contact the technician!

  • Satellite Pro A120 - error function keys not working and affected

    I have a Satellite Pro A120 PSAC1E-04Q00VEN.

A couple of weeks, I started to have a dialog "Error of TouchED" to come to the start box (containing the message: 'Thotkey' recovery has no code error 0 X 00031402, 0x00000002) and at the same time the function keys did not work.

I spent several hours as a result of the wide variety of questions that have been posted on this forum and elsewhere regarding this problem with computers laptop Toshiba, but nothing has worked. I reinstalled all the drivers from my initial backup disk, installed new drivers on the Toshiba site, updated the bios and restored the system to date before the problem started to occur. I also can't find Thotkey.exe everywhere on my machine.

Can anyone help with this? It seems to be a common problem, for which he doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. Any useful response would be really appreciated.

    David

  • Satellite Pro A120-10W - function keys not working not not from the cloth of hard drive

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A120-10W under Windows XP Pro SP3, and just had my hard drive erased, because of virus. Everything seems to work fine, but I can't use function keys to change the brightness etc. I looked in various forums help however most seem to give answers for Windows 7 or vista. 7
    Can someone please?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

As you can see in other threads, you need special drivers/tools for the keys FN get their work because there is no standard Windows driver for these keys.

In any case, you must download the common Modules like Akuma wrote. After installing the key should start working again.
You can download the tools on the official website of Toshiba.

If you have problems with the installation or it succeeded, just after a few comments. ;)

  • Satellite Pro A120 and keyboard replacement

Can someone let me know what the procedure for a keyboard replacement for a laptop Satellite Pro A120 of out-of-warranty in the United Kingdom.

    Thank you

Well, you can order the compatible keyboard of the ASP in your country.

The addresses and telephone numbers, which you can find here:

http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support download &-> find an authorized service provider

You can also ask ASP for keyboard replacement.
But it s a pity that your warranty is invalid. :( So you will have to pay for the replacement.

In any case, the replacement of keyboard is not very delicate, and if you have a bit of experience then you can replace this keyboard by yourself.
To remove the keyboard, follow these steps:

    1. turn the computer.
    2. open the screen and make it flat.
3 insert the tip of your finger into the slot on each side and remove the door-keyboard. It is a small plastic above the F1 - F12 buttons cover.
    4. remove the 2 screws flat head, securing the keyboard.
    5. lift the upper part of the keyboard while freeing up the hook and lower the face of keyboard on the palm rest.
    6. remove a screw support plate and the keyboard.
7 disconnect the cable from the keyboard connector on the system board and remove the keyboard.

But note; Be always careful and don't use force to remove all the parts.

    Good bye

  • Dead by Satellite Pro A120 - no lights or sound

I get no response from my Satellite Pro A120, no lights or sound. With power cord is plugged in.
Let run last night and found dead this morning.

I don't think it's a problem with the actual power cable, however the power supply port on the back is a bit loose and "wiggles" when it is plugged in, did it for a while with no problems.

    Any suggestions?

It is not easy to say, but I fear that there is problem with PCBS and power connector. Sorry but there is nothing that you can do it alone. If the warranty is still valid please contact the authorized Service partner as soon as possible.

  • On my Satellite Pro A120 possibly defective keyboard controller

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120-223 dual core and that's my problem with the keyboard.

I get this irritating message at the start with BEEBS, where it says PXE - E61 Media Test Failure among others. Then I opened it everything and put everything back once again, the problem seems to go away at first and then comes back, this time, when everything starts up; the letter a? NA? is continually and automatically entered on the research that I click on.

I later bought a new keyboard, and all kind of went well until the 3rd day with my new keyboard. The problem is back!

I did research on my problem online, and realizes that the keyboard controller may be at fault here. I don't think the keyboard is defective, it is brand new and I typed hardly something with her, I also took extra precautions when connecting the cable to the system.

If it is the controller, should what steps and procedures I take in order to define precisely the problem, or perhaps to resolve?

I don't have a warranty on this machine, and I'm not too eager to spend huge sums on a new motherboard, but I'm ready to if it is necessary.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi mate,

the first error message "PXE - E61 Media Test Failure" is more related startup, so another order of boot (HDD-> CDROM->-> NETWORK FDD) probably solves this problem.

With regard to your controller keyboard problem: I think that the cable must be realigned PROPERLY since these errors come from a misaligned keyboard cable or a really damaged keyboard controller (where I am skeptical that the keyboard controller is broken).

I know that you have taken additional precautions when connecting the keyboard, but this time took a few extra super uber mega special care when connecting it. Especially during the connection, check that the small black hook that keeps the cable is properly glued on the port.

Would appreciate feedback on your part...

    See you soon

  • Satellite Pro A120 - no image on external projector

Do you have a downgrade for win XP on Satellite Pro A120.

If I connect to an external projector I no longer get a picture of it. I tried the shortcut key and it will turn off the picture on the LCD screen of the laptop so the keyboard shortcut works, more also tried manually via the graphic properties.

The only time where an image of the projector that I have spend is when I restart, in which case, on reboot, I get a picture on the projector, but not the laptop. Then, when I try to switch to hot key or graphic accessories I can go back to the laptop but then can't get back the image of the projector on.
If I leave the projector image and do not a hot key switch as soon as I make a stop the stop then displayed on both devices.
I reinstalled the display driver and the drivers from the chipset, but without success.

  • How to remove the password of BIOS on Satellite Pro A120?

I have a Satellite Pro with a system password, when I started, I asked Mr. password I was its power off for over a year now, because the number 9 key was stuck in position, so I couldn't even try to type a password.

Two days ago, I've corrected the keyboard. Now the system will just to the point where it asks for a password but I don't know anymore, I tried more than 40 passwords I've used in my past.

So I ve open. Removed the battery during the night. no use. I've read on this forum about the keydisk, parallel dongle. Don t have a parallel port, or floppy disk. I also read another post on this forum about a brand under the RAM that needs to be grounded and I found no such thing.

can someone help me please? There must be a jumper on the motherboard as well.

The system is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120

    Hi Rob

I know that you are so happy to pay for it. Friend of mine has paid 60 Euros for the removal of the BIOS password.
Anyway, please believe me you can not do anything alone. Sascha is right when he wrote about the different ways for the removal of the password and your model has the worst. I mean it can't be deleted so easy.

Your laptop uses a sort, I'll call him, code stimulus / response. Service must send a code specific to the seat and wait for the response code. If the code matches the code deleted challenge the BIOS password cvan.

Thus, there is no way to be removed from your own.
    Sorry mate :(

  • Not able to install the common module on satellite Pro A120

    Hi guys:
I recently reinstalled xp professional on my satellite pro A120. I could download and install the main drivers of http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com and my phone is functional. However, I did not all sounds and (F6 & F7 and toggle) function keys not working, even after insalling the sound card. I read some of the posts on this forum and found that I needed insall the 'common' module to make them functional. I downloaded the driver from module common too, but when I run the Setup it starts initially, but fails both the configuration is complete.

The same thing happens also with a few other drivers as saver of energy etc... I was not able to run the Setup program for the common module & driver power saver, basically, nothing happens after I have the respective installation.

    Can anyone help please?

    Pravesh

As far as I know on the download page you can find the installation instructions with exact installation document order how to install drivers and tools specific to Toshiba and utilities.
You have installed all the stuff after this installation order?

  • Satellite Pro A120 battery problem

    Hi all

I have a portable Satellite Pro A120 and is a battery problem a month ago.
The battery is not new, but recently changed, 6 months ago.
Until a few weeks ago, it lasted about 2 hours when full load, until this time
    suddenly dropped 30-40 minutes.
In addition, sometimes the power of the laptop turns off when it's a few extra vibrations,
for example, if I put it on a table without the maximum protection.
In some cases, these, is not possible to turn on the laptop, unless I have remove the battery and put it back in place.

I initially though that there was a problem with the battery or the battery contacts, but they seem ok.
I tried to unload it in my laboratory of the company with a power resistance: resistance absorbed 1A continuously for more than 3 hours. As the specification 4400mAh battery, I would say that the battery is ok.

Is it possible that I have a problem with the battery inside the pc management circuit?
The battery stress test above seems to show that the charging process is ok. So the problem might be with
the provision of monitor or battery power.
Someone at - it experience of similar problems and maybe a solution.
Or perhaps a work around? As excluding the battery monitoring and auto turn off

    Thanks in advance
    Concerning

    > Is it possible I have a problem with the battery inside the pc management circuit?
Perhaps, but that's just a guess only a cellphone technician may provide an exactly the answer to this question.

    > Furthermore, sometimes the power of the laptop turns off when it's some additional vibration.
for example, if I put it on a table without the maximum protection.
In some cases, these, is not possible to turn on the laptop, unless I have remove the battery and put it back in place.

It is very strange, I want to say if the contacts of the battery and the battery would be ok, this symptom shouldn't its sounds strange for me, so maybe that's the key why battery don't not lasts more than 30-40 min

However, I think you should try a new battery before checking the motherboard.

  • Satellite Pro A120 - where the guard & easy to Toshiba Assist button

    Hello

Toshiba Easy Guard is not a simple also, but a collection of properties of different portable computer that secures your notebook.

  • Satellite Pro A120 - cannot boot from CD/DVD drive

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 of friends, he was running very slow so I said I'd do the usual for him.
Back up all his documents, and then reinstall windows. not so easy!

First of all, try to boot from the CD so I can boot into Ubuntu or reinstall windows.
Me has taken long enough to work, I had to press DEL/ESC to enter in the BIOS, but once I put to boot from the CD (and was a bootable CD in the drive), it kept just boot from the HARD drive.

From time to time I get an error saying + "Media test failure - check cable" + or something similar, theres a lot on internet on this subject.
I think its something to do if the boot order has CD first, then it has LAN as 2nd.

Able to boot Ubuntu from a USB key.
Try to copy its documents on my external drive but really copying REALLY slow (like 1 MB/s) and kept getting IO errors on some files.
I can't run diagnostic software for HARD drive that I can not boot from the CD (could get the Ultimate Boot CD on a USB but if anyone thinks it would help?).

In windows, the CD player only reads real CD (audio similar DVD, not CDR and DVDR).
    This means a failing drive?
What intrigues me most, however, is that I changed the portable CD player with a CD of work of another computer and windows recognize today this new CD player at all!

By putting a bootable CD in this new CD player, it always starts from the HARD drive (do not recognize CD player in all).
The BIOS is a bit unnecessary and does not show the detected disks...

Also, boot Ubuntu from a USB key, with the original CD player, he reads real CD and DVD copied of all zeros are considered blank discs and replace the CD drive with a known working in Ubuntu means its not recognized at all (if this isn't windows driver problems).

When I started messing around with it I remember windows say the time had been reset, so I set the time properly, then he did the same thing again I think. A flat CMOS battery could not be responsible for this?

Is the motherboard and specifically the IDE controller or a broken ports, or am I doing something stupid? I'm tempted to just install Ubuntu by USB and tell him not to bother with CD more ;^)

Any suggestions or comments would be much appreciated!

    Thank you
    Dan Gent

    > Me has taken long enough to work, I had to press DEL/ESC to enter in the BIOS, but once I put to boot from the CD (and was a bootable CD in the drive), it kept just boot from the HARD drive.
You see the CD/DVD drive in BIOS? I mean all the details like the name WEIRD etc.
If this isn't the case, then it means that your CD/DVD drive is not recognized by the BIOS due to a hardware problem.

If you can see the STRANGE in the BIOS but are still not able to boot from any disk, then I suppose that the CD/DVD drive cannot read the disk for different reasons.
One of the reasons could be a defective or damage the laser lens

    > Every so often, I would get an error saying "Media test failure - check cable" or something similar, theres a lot on internet on this subject. I think its something to do if the boot order has CD first, then it has LAN as 2nd.

Yes, this error means that your laptop tried to boot from LAN

    > In windows, the CD player only reads real CD (audio similar DVD, not CDR and DVDR). This means a failing drive?

As I said above, it would be possible that the reader s laser lens malfunctions and, therefore, the ODD can't handle the media. It seems that the laser lens can not calibrate properly and can not move in the correct position. This question is not repairable and the drive needs to be replaced.

    > What intrigues me most, however, is that I changed the CD drive with a CD of work of another laptop and windows don't recognize this new CD player at all!

The fact is that not all CD/DVD drives are compatible due to different master/slave/C-salt settings. You must use the supported players! In most cases, you can find a list in your user manual what CD/DVD readers are compatible.
