Satellite Pro L40 - power supply is hot
Just taken delivery of the Satellite Pro L40 - I am a little worried the heat from the power to the laptop, sat for an hour and is extremely hot. Is this normal?
Hey M,
Yes, it's quite normal for the hot supply. In some cases, it may become very hot indeed and Toshiba put a sticker of warning about feeding on this 'feature '.
The adapter provides a current variable to meet the needs of the laptop, then you should expect the adapter to heat up significantly when running applications or games that use a lot of resources of the laptop.
Kind regards

Satellite Pro A100 - power supply is broken
Hello
One of my friends had a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 (we think), but the food is now broken. Find a new buy was a bit awkward, as we are not sure of who did and who are not.
So, here I am asking for help in this issue:
-That food can be purchased and used for a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 (or possibly A100-514-515)?
- Or if the foregoing proves too difficult to answer, info on the requirements (for example, watts, volts, Hertz, etc.) will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
MorsbyI think of the A100 different adaptors depending on the model. If you need know exactly what is the model number. Some 19v, others are 15v.
PS. You should buy an original Toshiba adapter. Ive heard stories of cards not blowing Toshiba motherboard and other problems.

Satellite Pro C50D power supply issue - A - 13 G
Please can someone help?
I'm not a computer Wizard comes from a background working brilliant woman who doesn't want to be ripped off my laptop and then yesterday decided do not pay, it is quite dead.
I left it on charge for a few hours and nothing, I tried to use it without battery and nothing husband checked plug fuse is fine.
Have no idea what to do next. Can someone please help?
Thank you> Don't know what to do next.
I'm afraid there is not much you can do about Mr. always is your laptop's hardware problem. On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what it is. I can't say for sure, but I assume the electronic power pack is a troublemaker. Now, all you can do is contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They have special diagnostic tools and can check what the problem is here.

Satellite Pro L40: Bios update not necessary - no settings for RAM in Bios 1.90
Hi, I just bought a Satellite Pro L40 laptop and im trying to figure out why the bios has no parameter memory.
If I look at the ram using a tool of information system (cpuz or aida320), it shows she doesn't move at the speed of 667 mhz but at 533 mhz.As you can see from this screenshot the memory runs at the real speed is less than the maximum that the sticks have a rated power.
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/4580/cpuz1pj5.jpg
Its running at 266 mhz (533 mhz ddr) where it should be run at 333 mhz (667 mhz ddr).
I also noticed that with this laptop fan never seems to come, is it possible to mount the fan?
Whenever I have the laptop for more than 30 minutes, it becomes very hot.Hello
> if I look at the ram using a tool of information system (cpuz or aida320) it shows that it does not run at the speed of 667 mhz but at 533 mhz.
What is your FSB?
If the laptop was equipped with memory PC2-5300 modules then they could run at 667 MHz, but only if the FSB would supports 667 MHz! I think is supported by the FSB of 533 Mhz.
So I can't say it s nothing wrong!> I just bought a Satellite Pro L40 laptop and im trying to figure out why the bios has no parameter memory.
Why do you think a BIOS update would turn the memory settings in the BIOS?
Please don t mix of desktop computers laptops! Laptops cannot be overclocked.
BIOS of laptop computers is not the same thing as a desktop PC BIOS!> I also noticed that with this computer laptop fan never seems to come, is there a way to turn the fan to the top? Whenever I have the laptop for more than 30 minutes, it becomes very hot.
Have you noticed all automatically turn off downs or any other strange behaviors laptop as freezing OS for example?
If it is then that the laptop runs correctly and doesn't overheat.
Books to support thermal protection which would be closed the laptop automatically to avoid equipment damageThen lean back man and enjoy your nice toy ;)
PS: you are fan of Carlos Santana? ;) I ask through your nickname ;)

Hi ib1.
You use the version preinstalled Windows from Toshiba or is it your own installation?
What to update the display driver? Take a look at the Toshiba page for the new display driver:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download driversDon t forget to look in the * archives * on Toshiba page because this model is a little older, so all of the downloads are moved in archive.

Satellite Pro L40 - what is lasting average battery?
Hello
Recently, I received my Satellite Pro L40 and wonder what is the average battery? Once fully charged, it seems to be able to handle 1 hour max. Is this normal?
The laptop I had before was the same, but my friends laptop, which is more than a year older than mine, runs for more than 3 hours on a fully charged battery.
Is there a fault?
Thank you
Hello
It is not easy to answer this question because the battery working time depends on the use of the laptop. You know that you will be able to run much longer Notepad on the battery power using only a few common applications like Word or Internet Explorer.
Play games, watch DVDs or burn CD/DVD of waste more than energy because the performance of simple devices is much higher!Fact is that portable Pro L40 was equipped devices and high-tech parts. The laptop supports a nice GPU of fort Intel Pentium Dual - Core CPU, huge HARD drive, and and and
In addition, you must know that the Vista operating system preinstalled eat a lot of resources and waste more energy than Win XP!
All of this has an influence on the working time of battery.Last but not least, he should know that there are different batteries on the market.
If you want to increase the performance of the battery, buy a stronger battery!regads

Satellite Pro L40 PSL4BE starts no - HDD + CPU fan is not
Hello
I own a Satellite Pro L40 - 17F (PSL4BE-00R005EN).
I've been running the system on the current for a while now.
I decided to remove the battery to avoid damage.
Last night, I accidentally pulled the addapter at the back of the laptop. Since then; the machine won't start.I noticed that the HARD drive was not making the usual noises. Then I realized was not the CPU fan is spinning.
Nothing appears on the screen, not even the start menu. The only things that do not seem to work are the DVD player & power light!
I had the back of the machine off; I didn't see any obvious reason for the problem.I'm looking for a second opinion on what is happening with it, and if it can be fixed without having to buy a new motherboard.
Thank you. Dan.
Hmm. possibly, there is nothing wrong with your motherboard.
Try this common workaround that has helped me in such cases.Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Leave the laptop for about 30 min and after this short break, put the battery in the laptop and connects to the AC adapter.
This short procedure helped me to sort a similar g and strange question.
I hope that you will succeed if you please post some results.

Satellite Pro L40-15 has: motherboard problem
Hi all
I have a satellite pro L40-15 and it was running vista basic but very slowly.
A friend advised me that I needed to renew the bios for xp install xp. I did, and now he's dead. The fan is not still running, even if the wireless lights and 3 lights above the power switch will Flash once.
I took the motherboard out (part number 08g2002ta22jtb). During the inspection, there seems to be a reset button on the plateau (near the battery terminals). It is only accessible with the removed card. Does anyone know haw to restore bios factory settings please?
Thanks in advance.
John.
Hi mate,
It's cool to you finally disassemble your machine. But you won´t get no benefit from this action given that the bios needs to be reflashed by a technician of toshiba, BECAUSE they have the right tools to do this.
I don't know how or what tools they use, but I had a similar problem on my Satellite A100 and they fixed without the motherboard. (So it was told to me).
If I were you, I would send the machine to another and the closest to the ASP (certified partner) in your country. They should bring back your machine to life.
Here´s a [LINK | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] to a telecommunications service provider ASP if you need help...

Problem with the software Modem on Satellite Pro L40
I tried to set up a connection Dial-Up Networking on a Satellite Pro L40 running Vista and can't get the modem to talk to the modem from the ISP. The connection appears OK and then you can hear the modem dial, but when the ISP picks up there is a bit of yelling and then my modem abandons the connection and I get the standard vista connection failed box.
Things I've tried:
-latest drivers for the 2.1.77.0 modem (and the rest of the system) downloaded from Toshiba and installed OK
-all the updates of windows installed
-removal of the modem in the Manager of peripherals and re - install
-suppression of the agrsmdel.exe and then re-install
-try different cables to plug into the phone jack
-several different ISPS and phone numbers
-reduce the maximum speed of the connection
-connection to the same ISP with my Satellite L10; works very well never have time!
-using the windows to diagnose and repair the tool (set last resort!); says that the modem works fine and can not find a problem with the connectionIs it possible that the update of the BIOS on the laptop would make a difference (currently v 1.60)? I did some research on Google and found messages on various forums, which suggests that the connection between the motherboard and the modem chip is a little doubtful for all the Agere Soft Modem; If the case is it something I can fix myself or I should go for warranty repair?

Hello
I'm sure that there is no problem with your modem, but with the configuration or even s ISP modem. I recommend you to speak with the support of the ISP.

Satellite Pro L40 - football manager runs slowly
Hi guys,.
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L40
I ve bought a football game coach (lma manager 2007) for it and its really slow. What are my options to play better?Help, please!
Hello
To be honest there are not many options to make the computer faster
But I see that your laptop uses ONLY 512 MB of RAM.
In my opinion it is certainly not enough and certainly desirable upgrade to 1 GB or 2 GB.Therefore, I recommend upgrading the RAM.
