Satellite Pro P200: battery not charging

Hello

My laptop battery will not charge. Just bought two weeks ago. Can I use my laptop for an hour approximately and it is still empty.

What's not?

Edwin

A moment please. you said that the battery won't charge?
Is this true or do you mean that the laptop can run only one hour on battery?

Battery is charging while the laptop is connected to the power adapter?

  • Satellite Pro L20: battery not charge when the power adapter is connected

    Hello

    all advice appreciated.

I had a Satellite Pro L20 for about 18 months. Recently, battery does not charge when the power adapter is connected. The battery light starts yellow (which means more liberated, I think?), then will both green, the machine sat for awhile. However the ACPI often said that AC is "offline."

There are two recent occurrences that coincide with this problem, I try to eliminate:

    1. my friends rat chewed by the feeder for pets! Power is Mobile OK insofar as he fled sector - the rat seems to have simply chewed by the outer cover (I see some threads, but I think that is just a shield, although I'm not an electrician).

    2. I put the laptop in hibernation for the first time. That seemed to mess up the system a bit, which was what initially drew my attention to the problem. This question is a bit complicated because I'm under Linux (Xubuntu).

I updated the drivers etc from windows when I bought the laptop. Never had any problems until now and have been running linux for centuries. Also, I have mainly the laptop the power supply turned off, but do not remove the battery (is that really a problem these days?)

I obviously need to replace the adapter, but is - it is likely (and how I can check) that the battery was borked until?

    Chris

First, please check if the other are lit.
If the AC led and power led are on the adapter sector is ok and it provides the power to the laptop.

    > The battery light starts yellow (which means more liberated, I think?), then will both green, the machine sat for awhile
If the battery LED is yellow, this means that the battery is not fully charged and if the Green led changes then recharging is caught and the battery has been recharged.

So I really don t see any problems with the charge process.

Maybe the battery is old and so you cannot use it for an extended in such a case only the replacement of the battery could help.

  • Satellite Pro A100: Battery not charging

    Hello

I wonder if anyone can help. I have the laptop above and just before the warranty run out, I had a problem with the power cable because it would not require the laptop and would also make a funny type of sparking sound.

I sent it to Toshiba who could not find any problem with him (he did only occasionally - usually after using it for an hour or two) and the laptop returned me which worked well.

Shortly after the warranty missed, I had another problem with the power. The laptop battery is dead and the power cable would not charge the battery at all. When the laptop is connected or not connected, the only light I get when you press the power button is the orange flashing light telling me that the battery has no charge.

So I bought a new power cable thinking it would fix the problem, to find that this was not the case and the laptop would not even charge.

I Dove and bought a new battery hoping that was what was causing the problem, only discover that even once the battery was not at fault either.

If someone had a similar problem or know someone how / repair shop what to do to solve this problem without having to spend a fortune on take it to a PC? After calling trick a couple where I live, they said they would only do what I did - change battery and charger - and if that did not fix then told me to buy a new laptop.

    Help, please!

    Hello

Sorry for this news but this question looks very bad.
First of all my first thought was a battery defective, but according to your message, we can exclude this possibility

Everything looks like a malfunction of the card mother:(bien sûr ce n'est qu'une suggestion, mais si l'adaptateur est ok et la nouvelle batterie doesn t trop puis une panne de carte mère est possible.)

I think that there is not much to do. First, you must be 100% sure of the breakdown. Verification of the laptop is so necessary and inevitable to see what's exactly wrong.
That's why I really would recommend contacting an ASP and ask for details and additional handling.

But be aware that the exchange of the mobo is a costly affair because the motherboard is one of the parts expensive notebooks. Lets hope you n t need to replace it

    Good luck

  • Satellite P200 - battery not charging everything by running Windows Media Player

Not sure if there is a specific problem of Toshiba, but my laptop does not charge while I run WMP. I have to close WMP, and then reconnect the power cable so that it can start loading. Also when the battery is less than 20%, it seems stop loading. I have to keep the withdrawal/re-connecting the power cable all the seconds until I get a proper load.

    Any help?

    Hello

I guess this question appeared not right the first time
Well, in my opinion has nothing to do with the fact that Windows Media Player is running, I think that it s a battery but problem is only my personal opinion.

In my opinion you or your laptop technician must verify if the same thing would happen if one would use the new battery

  • Satellite P850 32Z: battery not charging

Recently, I had problems with the battery, which means that I need to plug my AC adapter all the time. The battery in the taskbar icon indicates that the battery is 68% and these last days. Placing the cursor on the icon says "plugged in, not charging", and the battery on the laptop light does not illuminate. If I unplug the AC adapter, the laptop shuts down completely.

I also tried the cold reset following instructions (from the section "Solving a problem" to support)
    1. power off your laptop and unplug the AC adapter
    2. remove the battery from the PC (for models with semi-fixed battery, please follow these instructions)
    3. press the button power for 30 seconds.
    4. then, plug in the adapter without the battery, turn on your computer and start Windows normally
    5. wait 5 min. and then replace the battery on while your laptop is turned on

In step 4, when I turned on the laptop, the laptop starts and the battery light is on. But then after a few seconds, the battery light turns off and the laptop turns off.

    Someone had this problem?

I have the same question. I bought a new battery. It worked for about 1 hour from 67 percent and amounting to 100% and then my laptop just died. Now my old battery indicates 0%, no charge, my new battery says 0%, 8 minutes at full load. So I'm a little confused about this and don't know if it's only a battery error. I'm going to service this week, so I know what the problem. I have the Satellite P850 - 33 m

  • Satellite Pro A120 - battery not found

    Hello

Technical details: I have a Satellite Pro A120, purchased about four years, running MS Vista. A year ago I noticed my battery has been virtually exhausted and bought a new battery (this one, to be exact: [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0028NJAL2]). Since last year it worked very well and I have no reason to suspect that the battery itself might have a problem. Most of the time, I have the laptop plugged in, in any case.

However, recently (last few weeks, I think) I started to have occasional problems when all of a sudden I am notified that the battery can not be found - or rather, there is no actual notification, but the power icon in the changes of system tray with a small red on it X, and then the computer hangs. The touchpad still works and I can move the pointer on the screen, but absolutely nothing else says and there is no way out next to a hard reboot. Sometimes, if I catch the icon change from time to time and unplug the power cord (force the computer running on battery), it actually corrects issues. Not always, though.

Attempts to seek similar problem descriptions online were not very useful; most of the time, the description does not exactly fit my situation or the Seraph blames the battery or the operating system (which, in my case, to be as the wrong answers, since I said the battery generally works well, and I had the same OS from the start). Also a search of these forums did not have no useful result. I'll call my go - to computer store and see if their engineers have all the answers or if it's just the time to take the old horse pasture and find a new filly, but thought that perhaps the good people on this forum may be able to offer advice (additional).

    Thanks in advance,
    Yael

I think that no one will be able to tell what's wrong exactly; I think it is s battery issue but of course, no one can say it it s battery maybe motherboard or just a software problem. OPERATING SYSTEM.

Usually, the software should not affect the functionality of the battery and I think that it s more material associated.
The laptop is a little old and the battery seems to be old too so I think that the battery needs to be checked first

    Hello cat

Before you start to speculate on potential problems I recommend you contact your dealer as soon as possible. The laptop is new and everything should work fine. The behavior described is certainly not normal and may be that something is faulty.

Please contact your dealer and explain the situation.

  • My Satellite Pro L500 does not charge

    _Hi everyone _

I really need help, I was so happy with my laptop until this problem started. It started a while ago, I noticed that I had problems loading from my laptop.

I needed to hold the end of exactly the right angle charger cable into my computer for loading to occur.
I have let the problem away and now I m in an even worse situation.

My laptop charge very little, before clicking on disable. It turns on, but after about 30 seconds it will be DESACT.
The computer records the charger BUT NOT CHARGING, I m lucky to get to the login screen.

If someone could give me some advice on the repair of my laptop, it would be great. Thank you very much.

P.S E Iv had the laptop over a year.

    Thanks again.

    > I had to hold the end of charger at just the right angle cable in my computer for loading to occur.
According to your information, there and lose the connection between the adapter and motherboard
I think because of the bad connection, the battery could not properly and now the battery is dead.

I put t see any other solution for you to replace the battery and check the power supply mother board s. In addition, the AC adapter cable must be tested. Maybe its broken too.

    I just updated to Win10...

  • Satellite A60 - laptop battery not charge/work

    Hello

My stop laptop when you use the battery power. It will not re-start until I plugged in to the power supply. Every time I disconnected power laptop would shutdown. laptop does not work on batteries, no lights are working.
When it is plugged seeing orange lights. Battery remains 90% fresh even after hours on departure av! I suggest that I can't use the battery power and the battery won't charge.
Only a new battery in a month and has worked well up until now.

I tried toshiba control energy saver but made no difference.

I can't say with certainty if this happens because of the battery or something. In my opinion, it can be either battery or electronic power supply.
Satellite A60's old laptop and everything is possible.

Pre-installed software doesn t have a any influence on this. Toshiba power saver is preinstalled to consumption, Manager, with other words to help reduce battery power consumption and longer battery.

  • Satellite M70-340 battery not charging

I had a problem with a Toshiba Satellite M70 - 340 portable hard drive, but everything else worked perfectly, and it was possible to operate on battery power. So I sent it to a maintenance shop where they changed the hard drive and installed a fresh new copy of Windows XP. Once I got it I found that I am not able to turn it back on, except when it is connected to electricity and after a little or looking around, I found out that the battery is not.

In addition to this, when I plug first laptop for electricity while it is turned off, the yellow/orange battery LED lights only for like 3 seconds. And even if it is activated, the led is still off, and the the battery icon on the status bar indicates that the laptop works on AC and does not say that the battery charge, he repeats to me 1%.

I also tried leaving it plugged to AC while it is off, hoping he can recharge, but I bite the dust.

So what would cause the battery won't charge if from one day to another (and just by changing the HARD drive and install a fresh copy of windows XP), the battery has stopped working?

And I was just wondering is an update of the BIOS or your driver fix? I want to say a battery need some kind of driver or software to run?

    Thank you

    Hello Zaher

I have Satellite M70-159 and issue described is not known to me. If you are sure that this strange issue started after get it back you with 100% service I recommend you speak again with technicians.

Behavior described is not really normal. As much I know BIOS update or drivers have no influence on it and to me it sounds like a malfunction of the equipment.

BTW: remove the battery, connect the laptop to the power adapter and start Notepad. When the operating system starts correctly, wait a few minutes and put the battery in the laptop. Please let know us what happens when you do this.

    Sorry for the bad English

    Hi Rainer

Your English is very difficult to understand, but I understand that you have problems with your battery.
If you re not able to cherif battery so possibly the power supply is out of life.

You write that your battery has worked for about 1.5 years. You know that it s able to charge and discharge the battery for about 500 times and after this period (1.5 to 2 years) the battery will discharge performance and the news is necessary.

This news also knew not to me but after reading in the user manuals and field on some notebooks sites survey I m now a specialist battery ;) lol.
Similar issues can occur for example with mobile phone batteries.

I don t think that your laptop is affected by the battery Exchange program but of course, you can check the number.

However, I suggest to replace the battery and check if it works.

Hello and greetings from ith Italy ;)

  • Satellite M70-340: battery not charge when AC is branch

    Hello world

Well, my problem is that I just bought a Toshiba Satellite M70-340 and used only for 2 days, but I have problems with my battery.

The battery does not seem to load. When I plug in the charger, the battery indicator turns on but the windows loading indicator is constantly at 0%. When I unplug the charger after awhile the laptop immediately turns off.

I noticed today morning problem, but the incident in question just as I remember it's the charger fell yesterday from a distance of about 50cm in height on a floor tiled. I don't know if this could affect it or not.

The only changes that I made to the software are also updated Microsoft Windows & Office.

Kindly help me knowing the cause of the problem and the solution that he.

    Concerning

    HELLO Faiz,

If your laptop works when the power adapter is plugged it works correctly. The THST is that the battery does not load can indicate a problem with the battery or the electronics in the laptop. However, I would first check very carefully that the battery is correctly installed and that there is no insulating plastic part that prevents the battery contacts to connect properly.
If everything looks well then you laptop is covered by warranty Toshiba and I would say that your outlet or send it to your provider to be extracted.

    Kind regards

Some experience that may or may not apply to:
-Battery system is around 2.5 years
-The battery lasts about 1 to 1.5 hrs that seems fair considering his age and his level of violence (left connected permanently and not recycled periodically)
-Very recently would not pass, with or without the power adapter connected. Solved by removing AC, then the battery, running on AC, then turn off and reinsert the battery. Everything now works on battery or AC.

HM, sounds to me like a hardware problem. But the problem is to understand where exactly the error, if you have the following options:

    * Contact a service partner chartered for a hardwarecheckup and an accurate diagnosis of your machine ([http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT])
    * You can buy a new battery (since it could be the battery, I guess)
    * You can sell this machine on ebay and buy a new one :)

Hope I could give you some new and fresh ideas. There is almost no other options or solutions, the it s so your choice.
