Satellite R830-13D - bad reception, W - LAN

Even with the router in the same room, we do not get a full reception with the computer. The other PCs have the same problem. We have 3 computers R830-13D, have problems with the reception of WLAN in our House.

We have installed the latest driver for the Atheros device and software confree.

Is this a known problem on this computer, the reception is bad, or have we done something wrong?

>... or have we done something wrong?
And what exactly did you do?

Are you using the original preinstalled OS (factory settings)?
Have you noticed the same problem with the power sector and battery?

  • Satellite R830-143, disconnect the other wireless LAN PC

Just acquired a Satellite R830-143. Connects to my LAN fine wireless, BUT...

I have three other computers connected to the local network both wireless, and as soon as I connect the Toshiba, the other three disconnects.
If I turned off the Toshiba the other three reconnect back (although sometimes I have to reset the router).

Have tried to move the Toshiba around the House, but the same result.
Router is pretty old, but it works with other computers (an XP running, a Vista, a Windows7).

Any ideas gratefully received. (This is my first Toshiba - I'm pretty impressed, but if I can't do network to my other PC it won't be a big purchase)

    Hello

No other computers also disconnect if you connect the Toshiba Satellite LAN?
AFAIK the R830 is equipped with card Atheros Wlan that supports standard network 802.11b/g/n.

It may be possible that other laptops using the 802.11 standards of B and the Satellite R830 connects to the router using 802. 11 g.

Please check the settings of your router and also check the R830 TCP/IP protocol.
All laptops must use the same standard TCP/IP IPv4 or IPv6.

Go to control panel-> network & sharing Center-> adapter change settings-> right click-> properties-wireless network card
You will find the standard TCP/IP IPv4 and IPv6
don't forget that IPv4 has been chosen!

  • Questions from the screen and keyboard on Satellite R830-181

    Hello

    I had exactly the same problem with it;
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=280934

I also explained what is it and how it over time in this topic.

To sum up; my screen and keyboard do not work in my Toshiba Satellite R830-181, 13.3 '' laptop.

    My questions;
    1. is it a motherboard problem?

    2. as it runs on an external monitor, I guess that the graphics card or processor is fine.
There is no damage on the screen, so I guess there is a problem with the connection of the power supply to the screen.

If I buy a new screen I have my doubts it will work.

I'll probably send it to the service tech in my country (hard to find here reliable technology services Toshiba), however, I would like to know what may be the cause and if I can fix it myself.

What do you think guys? It is a power issue or a problem with the monitor itself?
If a power issue or something else rather than the screen, how can be fixed?
Same question applies to the keyboard.

    3. If I repair or fix myself, you think it will happen again? Because I think that this could be a faulty laptop computer of a certain series of production since someone else has experienced the same thing with this model.

can 4 - there be a relationship between the non-functional keyboard and screen?

    5. If this can be resolved with a replacement of the screen, that I need to find a laptop screen Toshiba R830 or I can buy any 13.3-inch screen?

As far as I know this model is not supported by the company more, so it is quite difficult to find a screen R830.
It is difficult to find a 13.3-inch screen, anyway, but still, if I can use the screen of another model which would ease my problems.

I need an idea on that.
    Thanks :)

    > 1 - is it a motherboard problem?
Not easy to say: If the external monitor works correctly then this isn't problem chart/motherboard.
The external USB keyboard works properly, if not motherboard problem too.

    > 2 - because it works on a monitor external I guess graphics card or processor is fine.
    Yes, that's correct.

    > If I buy a new screen I have my doubts it will work.
I do not recommend to buy the new parts before the defective parts has not been verified.

    > I'll probably send it to the service tech in my country (hard to find here reliable technology services Toshiba), however, I would like to know what may be the cause and if I can fix it myself.
Good idea to send it to Toshiba service partner since the guys would be able to control parts and fix it.

    > What do you think guys? It is a power issue or a problem with the monitor itself?
If a power issue or something else rather than the screen, how can be fixed?
    > Same question goes for the keyboard.

Don t think someone can tell exactly what's causing this according to me its just a bad luck material can start malfunction happens in every possible branch of industries (TV, computer, smartphone, cars)

can > 4 - there be a relationship between the non-functional keyboard and screen?
No, the keyboard is only connected to the motherboard, display is also connected to the motherboard, but there is no connection between the keyboard and the display.

  • Satellite R830 and Windows 10 question webcam

The Microsoft Upgrade Advisor said that my Satellite R830-182 would be allowed to switch to Windows 10, so I made the leap. Everything works fine, except the webcam of Toshiba. Device Manager States "the drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)" and click on "update drivers" is futile.

The Toshiba site looking for an updated driver, I found that this model is not in their models supported for Windows 10, despite the advice of Mrs.

Anyone know if there is a way around this problem (another pilot?), or it is impossible to get this webcam works in Windows 10?

    Thank you.

  • Satellite R830 - reset password

    Hello

I have a Satellite R830. As I closed it down an opinion seems to say keep until finished updates. At the end of the updates, the laptop closed and then restarted. PASSWORD of the screen when it is restarted on a black background: _ appears with the blinking cursor. I tried all the passwords I can think of including the administrator password. Laptop stops after three attempts. Any ideas of what password is required and if there is a safe mode to restart?

    Thank you very much

PASSWORD of the screen when it is restarted on a black background: _ appears with the blinking cursor.

    Sounds like a BIOS password.

But to be honest, the story seems really strange to me... I never read the BIOS password which could be resolved automatically during the update of the system...

However, if this is a BIOS password and if it is unfamiliar to you, well, then you will be needing additional assistance of authorized person... authorized service provider is able to remove unknown BIOS password.

  • Satellite R830 - HDMI port does not work

    Hello

Is there a driver for the HDMI for the Satellite R830 port?
It is no longer connects to a TV.

I tried different TV but still nothing.
Also there is no HDMI in under the control panel Device Manager, should there be?

Thank you very much for any help or advice.

    Hello
I put t know what Windows system that you use on this laptop, but the driver HDMI isn't available from the HDMI port driver is part of the system and should be recognized automatically.

Capacity Audio HDMI you need to install the right audio driver and should allow this in Control Panel-> sound-> playback device

HDMI (digital out) would be not listed there, right click and choose:
Show devices disabled, view hidden devices.

Usually the HDMI connection isn t very delicate. Everything should run automatically.
Connect both devices with a HDMI cable.
Turn on the TV, then the computer.
Now, use the exit function FN (key) video combination in order to get to the video (HDMI).

Note: the correct HDMI channel must be selected on your TV

    All that s

  • Need a small part of my Satellite R830 - 1 L 7

    Hello

I'm looking to get my hands on a small part for my laptop Satellite R830 - 1 L 7. The part is the protector of small silver hinge there are two on the laptop; one on the left and one on the right, just below the screen. One of mine came loose and was lost, and the sons are now dealt with under.

It would be great if someone would be able to help me find one, and I'll give you as much information as I can, if anyone thinks that they will be able to help.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello
You mean the screen hinges or hinge protector?
However, I assume that the two parties could be ordered in local Toshiba authorized maintainer.
Accredited maintainer will be able to order all the compatible parts for your laptop, and from my point of few, this is the best place where you could make any order the part.

Do you know how to find the service partner?

  • What HARD drive I can use on my Satellite A660-13D?

    Hello

I'm looking for any compatible for a Toshiba SATELLITE A660-13D hard disk drive as the one inside is dead now.

This model comes with the laptop is a TOSHIBA MK6465GSX 640 GB, SATA 3 Gb/second 5400 RPM 2.6 revision

Official suppliers of Toshiba quoted me 130 euros por the same model.

I can't have such model through any other store or the internet.

There are a lot of different new TOSHIBA HDD in the market with the largest capacity and much less expensive than the MK6465GSK.

Can I install any new toshiba HDD on my SATELLITE A660-13D?

Is there any toshiba page where I can find out what toshiba HARD drive are compatible with my SATELLITE?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Fernando

What you need is 2.5 SATA HDD and it may be Toshiba but it may also be of some other manufacturers. You don't need anything special. If possible consult your dealer and they can help you choose one that suits.

Now, when you need a new HARD drive maybe you should think about upgrading with SSD. Disc SSD is much faster and use of SSD with your laptop will rapidly increase the performance of s for laptop.

More info on SSD, you can read on http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/index.html

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Supported satellite R830-182 and SSD

Anyone know if there is news of SSD in Toshiba laptops?

I ask because I have a Satellite R830-182 and I recently purchased an OCZ Agility 4 and it is not detected by the BIOS.

I tried all the tricks in the book including the BIOS upgrade and switching between AHCI/IDE.

Research online, find posts on this topic.
The general consensus seems to be that Toshiba has actively chosen not to support other than their own brand SSDs. Is this true? And if so, is that still the case?

Someone suggested that [by pressing Pause | https://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=244444𻫜] before entering the BIOS would help.
    Has anyone tried this before?
Not sure that it is a viable long-term solution.

    Any other thoughts/advice on this?

    > Research online, I find messages on this particular problem.
    > The general consensus seems to be that Toshiba has actively chosen not to support other than their own brand SSDs. Is this true? And if so, is that still the case?

I have Toshiba laptop and I could upgrade the laptop with a SSD 250 GB from another manufacturer. One of my friends with Toshiba Satellite laptop also use another brand of SSD 2.5 drive.

But the fact is that the problems of compatibility between different devices (not always SSDS but other modules PCI as well) can happen and its nothing unusual in the world of large computing.

As far as I know that some R830 models are equipped with a ' Solid State Drive (SSD) instead of a hard drive. Type of SSD SATA 2.5 "SSD SATA type 256/512 GB and 1.8" 128 GB must be compatible. "
But its also a matter of SSD drive firmware. In many cases firmware drive SSD can be not BIOS supported.
In this case the SSD drive would not be recognized correctly.

  • Satellite R830: How do the BIOS settings password protected?

    Hi all

I installed a software protection against theft in my Satellite R830, but he suggested that I adjust the settings in the BIOS so that it will start only from the hard drive, and to make sure that no one else can modify it (if it is stolen), the BIOS settings are protected by Word.

Can someone tell me how to access the BIOS at startup settings upward?

    Hello

You can set the BIOS settings by setting the BIOS password.
If someone would like to change the BIOS settings, the password of the BIOS would be necessary.

  • How do disable you booting from removable devices on Satellite R830?

    Hi all

Can someone help me find a way to disable booting from removable devices on a toshiba Satellite R830.

    Thank you?

    Hello

You can't disable booting from a boot device.
You can simply change the boot order in the BIOS.

If you don t want to start, for example: USB, just put the HARD drive as first boot device.
Now the laptop will boot first from the HARD drive. If it isn t HARD (because of missing systems) bootable disk, the BIOS will pass to the next device, IE: CD/DVD player

  • Satellite R830 screen problem - dead pixel

    Hello

I have a Satellite R830, I haven't used the laptop a lot since the purchase 2 years ago but I have several white spots on the monitor (8 + areas). I suspect that these may be hot spots of pixel, but I've tried all kinds of software and even slight pressure repair but nothing seems to work.

Someone at - it Advisor on methods to try to resolve this problem or am I resolved to try to get this repaired?

    Thank you

    Hello

    You can not fix it
In this case the display must be replaced.
But I guess that the guarantee is no longer valid, so you pay for the replacement.
I think that it is not worth.
