Satellite Z930-N13 - SDS HDD password problem

So I bought a 2nd hand Z930 (with no backup drivers/software) and setting up my password I ticked the box to replicate the password for the HARD drive.

When it is restarted I see a flash error message up but he has not read in time.
It restarted and asked the password - typed in - confirmed. Password HARD drive - not confirmed!
So now, I can't have in the laptop. This can be corrected?

I think I should buy a 256 gb SSD to replace and find all the drivers, and then reformat the laptop - that will work?

I am struggling to find the retailer in the United Kingdom asking them to remove the BIOS password - think that the new SSD would anyway be a cheaper solution?

Any help would be appreciated! I'm threadders - he only had 5 flippin minutes!

Hello

HARD drive password can be deleted if you do not know the password or the password is wrong.
I have no idea of what happened during the game of password but the fact is that BIOS password and password HARD disk are not the same.
Both can be set in the BIOS of THE separately.

In case the HARD drive password cannot be deleted, the HARD drive would be useless

> I think I should buy a 256 gb SSD to replace and find all the drivers, and then reformat the laptop - that will work?
Yes, the HARD drive password does not affect the new hard drives or SSD drives but only the HARD disk that was attached to the laptop, while the password has been set.

    Hi all!

I have the Toshiba Satellite C660-1GK for a year and a half. After 6 months, my hard drive is dead.

First the laptop has been really slow, then started the famous clatter of the disc.
I made backup and checked the disk with tools from Hirens. Toshiba diag will read even not she, Smart said that his State of health is bad bad sectors (30% or more), began to burst... I therefore took the laptop to my ASP.

They replaced the disc and then 13 months later (a week ago) the same story! Disk health went even lower (was 11%) and bad sectors initially jumping like crazy.
Once again, a trip to ASP.

I have my laptop today with a new drive. After that reading posts on this forum, I'm afraid that there or card mother/problem of power or we're just all with no luck with readers.

I just, I can't accept that the disks die randomly every 4-12 months to meet. My last drive on HP laptop lasted 4 years! I have about five more months of warranty and I'm really not satisfied with the situation. This laptop is on my desk, it has own station with nice, big fan so this isn't overheating - basically, I took out of the House in September.

I'm careful with it! But if the disk dies before the end of the year, maybe it's time to get a new laptop.
    Toshiba no, this time :(

    Hello

A few years ago, I bought a laptop from another manufacturer.
My first HARD drive died after over 2 years of use. I bought another, has replaced the old HDD and the new HARD drive died after 4 months of use.

No matter which HARD drive is going to die sooner or later because his part instrumentation it s a question of HARD drive use and the question of how you handle all.

In my opinion it s a bad luck of course sound always pity if a HARD drive starts to malfunction but I m afraid there are not many options to prevent it.
Of course, you can switch to a SSD drive which is stable in use. I did a few months ago, I bought the 250 GB SSD drive and replaced the internal HARD drive

HM, it's unfortunate, but unfortunately, you will need to contact an authorized service center and ask them for help because they are the one and only who could probably help you with your problem.

As far as I know, the BIOS must be something hard that cannot be revoked by typing certain codes that must be presented by toshiba in the Japan. And since they don t give such secrets out to end users like us, you have to click [HERE: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] and contact the nearest ASP in your country.

  • Satellite C855D-16V - BIOS & HDD password - need information

HI - just bought a new C855D-16V, wiped the Windows 8 operating system and installed Windows 7. I see that the BIOS has options for passwords BIOS and HARD drive, and I would like to use one of them to secure my data.

I am looking for a detailed explanation of how they work, and what effect they have, how secure and reliable they are. HARD drive password protect the drive if removed and mounted on a Linux system, for example? Is it possible to export a key emergency? BIOS PW lock the HARD drive, or just stop the motherboard to boot? Can't find anything via google and the "user manual" is useless.

As above, I'm NOT trying to bypass or delete an existing password. I am to decide if the BIOS or HARD drive offer enough protection. I'd use Truecrypt, but it doesn't work well with backup utils like Macrium & speakers.

Can someone link me to a good detailed explanation of these options, please?

    Thank you!

  • Satellite Z930 - suspend the problem with connected USB hard drive

    Hello

    Owner of a newly acquired Satellite Z930-15 X, I have a few questions/problems:

    1) suspends the work of RAM and good hibernation when there is no external hard drive connected. If there is one is connected, the laptop immediately returns back to suspend state. Is there a solution for this?

    (2) is there a way to selectively disable Bluetooth? Currently, only toggle airplane mode is available (with Fn + F8 or Windows 8 charm bar). This activates / deactivates the Wi - Fi or Bluetooth I think.

    (3) the portable computer is wobbly on reception. I put a bit of thin paper at the corner of a bottom (bottom left) so that it can be stabilized. Apparently, the problem is also mentioned in another thread. Is there a suggestion to fhix this problem?

    Thank you.

1 / what HARD drive is connected to your laptop? When I use the external 2.5 HARD drive with my Satellite U940 I n t have problem.

2 / I ve tested it on my machine and I noticed the same thing. When WIFI is disabled software BT is off too. I didn t find a way how to separately control adapter WLAN and BT.

3 / I think that this issue needs to be clarified with Toshiba service. They must check and perhaps exchange rubbers inside.

  • Can satellite A100-999 - I recover the HDD password?

    Hi all

I had a virus, so I formatted my computer, a Satellite A100-999. After I did, I was going to install Windows Vista, but I never could, because they ask my HDD password and I don't know what password it is that, I don't see it anywhere. My computer has been installed in the store, I only have a bootable disc, they gave me.

My question is: How can I recover my HDD password? Is it possible? I can boot the system in any other way?

    Thank you!

    Sara

It of not possible recovery or removes the HARD drive password. An ASP peut t for this too.

Sorry, but in this case, you need a new HARD drive. There's no other way.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 displays a "Built-in HDD Password" message whenever I start

Hello, my computer displays a "Built-in HDD password" message whenever I start. I never set any password on the hard drive in the past, although in desperation to try to get the laptop running, I tried all possible passwords but there is no answer, I would be grateful for any help or advice. What should I do?

Well, I put t know what you did on your laptop, but as far as I know it's not possible to remove the HARD drive password.
In this case, the HARD drive is not usable, and therefore a new HARD disc has to be ordered.

  • Where can I get the right drivers for Satellite Z930 - PT23LA - 01 009?

A little history: I recently bought a version of Win7 to a Z930 in Auckland from PB Tech shop. I've updated to a clean version of Win8 64-bit. My Win8 seems works ok but I noticed something strange in the Toshiba PC Health Monitor - apparently the Toshiba HDD/SSD Alert is not installed, so I don't understand not his iconic display in the health monitor (but the health monitor think my SSD is in "Good" shape - maybe it's reading the INTELLIGENT of my SSD interface, or maybe it's just saying 'Good' because the integrity monitor is apparently able to operate?)

I can easily find different versions of the Toshiba HDD/SSD Alert Utility in questionable Web sites - download, but I really prefer to get my Toshiba support drivers. Which leads to my question:

Where can I get the right drivers for PT23LA-01 009? NZ nor the webarea to Toshiba support have this model in their menus. The closest match seems to be

    http://www.MyToshiba.co.nz/support/computers/Ultrabook/satellite-z930/pt23la-01f00n/download?OS=30

There is probably not much difference between a PT23LA-01F and a PT23LA-01 P but it is a bit of concern to be download & install the drivers for a chip that is no my model...

    See you soon,.
    Clark

PS: http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/General-Features-Knowledge-Base/TOSHIBA-HDD-SSD-Alert/ta-p/347120 advise me the area downloads for Toshiba support. He also advises "not all utilities are available for each model and operating system. During the installation of utilities, install the TOSHIBA value added first. "Sigh... so maybe my problem is that I installed the Win8 drivers & utilities order when build my own-building a Win8 pass win7? Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest... but if this is the case are here all other dependencies in these built?

    > Where can I get the right drivers for PT23LA-01 009?

First series of Toshiba laptops (Australian, European, etc) is very similar to the other
Your model of laptop Australian Satellite Z930 * PT23LA * series is the same as the European model Satellite Z930 * PT23LE * series.

That's why the drivers, tools and utilities published for Satellite Z930 * PT23LE * series must be compatible with the Satellite Z930 * PT23LA * series.

To get all drivers for Satellite Z930 * PT23LE *, you should check this page:

There, you can get all win 8 - upgrade the drivers. Also the HDD/SSD Alert Utility v3.1.64.14

  • Satellite Z930 - Low Memory After installing Windows 10

    Hello

I have a Satellite Z930, which works perfectly for years. I recently downloaded and installed Windows 10 and as soon as I did, I get low-memory computer warnings, the laptop works slowly and I need to stop it and restart it. I installed all the updates and I still have windows mail and web browser (a) open, but the problem persists. I used 75 103 GB of storage, not of course the relevance that is.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm tired.

    Chris

    Dear Chris,
I bet that for Toshiba support being able to help you, it would be necessary to know the exact version of the Z930 (e.g. Z930 - 16K) you have, including how (live RAM) is currently installed.

  • Extremely slow on my Satellite Z930 - 15 X

    Hello

Here is my problem (sorry for my English):

    I have a Toshiba Satellite Z930 15 X.

For several weeks, it is very very slow. If eco or normal mode, it is still slower than the eco mode. * Even without running any program *. When I look at the Task Manager, everything is ok and fluid.

    Is this a hardware problem?
I also noticed that the fan works far more often than the first months of use, even with just an open word document.

The only solution I found is to restart the computer.
After each restart, it is fast as usual, but only for a short period. But at one time or another, the extreme slowness often returns after a break.

    * I also noticed that it often occurs after a suspension or the connection / disconnection of the laptop from the AC outlet.*

(I said I have a few programs installed and no trace of virus and other software malicious (I'm very careful about that)).

Have you had this problem, where it comes from, what can I do?

    Thank you!

    Hello

On this virtual path, it is not easy to tell what exact reason. To be honest I don't think that there is a hardware problem. Fact is that many background processes can slow down the performance of s for laptop. Perhaps some context downloads and installation of the update may be reason your laptop reacts quite slow.

Please check the commissioning and disable all unnecessary applications. If you do not use some of them, they should not start with Windows and run in the background. Also check Windows update option. Turn off automatic updating.

If please do first and check if the laptop runs a little faster.
    Please post comments.

  • Satellite Z930-130-how to REALLY turn off?

    Hi all

Also funny that my question may sound... it is really serious!
I have big problems in the course of the life of the battery (not so much a single charge, but affecting the "life" of the laptop itself!) because it seems even to be a way to disable COMPLETELY this laptop! It will be as a joke for a laptop of advertising with a 'eco' label that is supposed to help reduce the waste of natural resources (which was an important part of my purchase decision).

When I put the laptop Hibernate or turn it off by long-pressing the 'Power' button, battery mode indicating LEDS etc are always on, the battery is slightly drained even when the laptop is turned off. While of course LED will certainly not use a lot of power, it means that the next time I plug it into my computer, + a new charging cycle is initiated + that could have been avoided without it. With a battery usually survive 1000 charge cycles, which will force me to buy a new battery (by the way: what a shame how "yesterday" and that the battery is built-in and not replaceable by the buyer!) within 2 years if I plug off a few times every day.

Alltogether that sounds a lot like "planned obsolescence" and I'm annoyed by the mere thought of support something like that. Basically, I'm very happy with the Z930, so, I'm more frustrated by this completely unnecessary battery drain. No idea how to activate these LED to the wide and really turn off computer? Or an update of the BIOS just the thing?

BTW, I would be also grateful for advice on how to put pressure on the softer touchpad mouse buttons and easy - on my laptop, they have to be hurry * very * hard.

    My model: Toshiba Satellite Z930 - 130 33.8 cm (13.3 Zoll) Ultrabook (Intel Core i7 3667U, 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Intel HD 4000, win 8)

  • Questions of Protocol Windows 8.1 'Play' with Satellite Z930-12 q

    Hello

I bought my Toshiba Satellite Z930 more than a year ago. Quickly, I realize that I have did not have much opportunities as before network with older windows such as the ability to create a wifi network. Never again...

And I recently had an update on my internet Box allowing me to use the "Play To" windows system. GREAT! I tried to use it, but it did not work. I first thought that it was my box that was faulty, but with another PC, it works well!

So I start to wonder if there is a problem with the network on my computer? Or maybe, is the version of windows installed is a light?

    Anyone know anything?

    Your ad is confusing.

You're talking about Windows 8 light system. I put t know what you mean by light, but the phone has pre-installed with Windows common 8 64-bit and this fully functional system.

You talk about network problems I m wondering if you really network problems, or you have no experience using 8 Win.

If win 8 is a bit confused, I'd recommend checking the pages Microsoft Windows FAQ/HowTo on Win 8 and 8.1 new win

Yes, the 8.1 Win was already published by MS and I recommend you update the Win Win 8.1 8 since it has been improved by Ms.
The upgrade can be done for free.
