script of root.sh in CRS (Grid Installation)

RDBMS version: 10.2.0.4.0, 11.2.0.2
Operating system: Solaris 5.10 SPARC

I have 2 questions about running root.sh were made at the end of the installation of CRS.

* 1 *. Which is the only task the more important than fact root.sh?

In my opinion: on the first node, root.sh Initialise the OCR.
On the remaining nodes, root.sh adds new nodes to the OCR. Would you guys agree with it?

* 2 *. Are there major differences between executions of root.sh 10.2.0.4.0 and 11.2.0.2

1.) is not a most important task. If something is missing to root.sh your cluster is not ready to go.
What is an OCR, if voting disks are not formatted and the cluster cannot communicate.
What is an OCR, if the interconnection of cluster has not been configured correctly.
What is an OCR, if services were not enrolled in inittab
etc.etc...

Especially in 10.2, since if the root.sh did not work on the last node, the cluster never had "fatal" mode, so all features of cluster actually wasn't there.

(2.) a lot...
a.) one difference is that now the root.sh calls a perl script, which can be rerun (rootcrs.pl) for the clusterconfiguration
(b) with 11.2.0.2, you can restart root.sh because root.sh now has control points.
(c.) to 11.2 should any more to run sequentally. After you run it on the first node, you can run it in parallel on all the nodes of rest.
(d.) now the root.sh on node already configures the cluster, all others root.sh do only an addNode...
e.) it configures ASM (has not done in 10.2)
f.) it creates a CSR (not nonexistent in point 10.2)
g.) it configures negotiators (new feature of 11.2)

These are just a few things...

  • Oracle 11 g RAC 2: the problem of the script running root.sh

    People,

Hello. I want to install Oracle 11 g RAC 2 with 2 Virtual Machines (rac1 and rac2 which BONES are Oracle Linux 5.6) VMPlayer and according to the tutorial

    http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2011/10/11gr2-RAC-on-Linux-56-using-VMware.html

I've been installing grid Infrastructure using runInstaller from step 1 to step 9/10 in rac1 and rac2 VM.

Now, I run the root.sh script in VM rac1 and rac2 as below:

    [root@rac1 /] # /u01/app/grid/root.sh

    Output:

    ... ...

    CRS-4123: ohasd begins

    FATAL: Module not found oracleoks
    FATAL: Module not found oracleadvm
    FATAL: Module not found oracleacfs

    ACFS-9121: failure of /dev/asm/.asm_ctl_spec detection
    ACFS-9310: ADVM/ACFS installation failed.
ACFS-9311: not all components were detected after installation

    ... ...

    'UpdateNodeList' succeeded.
    [root@rac1 /] #.

    [root@rac2 /] # /u01/app/grid/root.sh

    Output:

    ... ...

    CRS-4123: ohasd begins

    FATAL: Module not found oracleoks
    FATAL: Module not found oracleadvm
    FATAL: Module not found oracleacfs

    ACFS-9121: failure of /dev/asm/.asm_ctl_spec detection
    ACFS-9310: ADVM/ACFS installation failed.
ACFS-9311: not all components were detected after installation

    ... ...

Beginning of the resource 'ora.asm_init' failed.
    Cannot start the ASM.
Failed to start Oracle Clusterware battery.
    [root@rac2 /] #.

As seen the above output, rac1 and rac2 get the same problems. In addition, rac2 does not stack Clusterware and ASM. So, I have 2 questions:

First of all, the common problem for rac1 and rac2:

    (1) "oracleoks, oracleadvm, oracleacfs" module not found
    2)/dev/ASM/.asm_ctl_spec not detected
    (3) ADVM/ACFS installation failed

These 3 factors affect grid and Installation of the database later? If so, how to solve these problems?

Second, how to start Clusterware and ASM battery in rac2?

    Thank you.

    you have 2 options:

1 OEL 5.6 comes with 2 nuclei, the original Red Hat and UEK Oracle, you can not use UEK

    or one I recommend:

    2. improve the grid Infrastructure,
    * 11.2.0.3.1 * (patch 13348650, released a month ago 1) supports ACF on UEK (starting with 2.6.32.200 IIRC)

  • root.sh failed during the installation of RAC11.2g

    Dear,

I try to install RAC 11.2 (version of the grid Infrastructure is 11.2.0.1) on both nodes of linux (OS version is 2.6.39 - 400.215.10.el5uek Oracle Linux 5.11)

SELinux + Firewall is stopped, ASM works fine (listdisks and querydisk has my drives correctly), ping between two nodes on public and private IPs is OK, the hosts file, configured for good.

Owner of the DSO is grid user, and this user is the same used during the installation of the grid infrastructure.

  • Oracle 11g Grid Installation Getting Stuck during the installation in VirtualBox

    Hello friends,

I try to install Oracle 11 g grid in two of the nodes that I configured in VirtualBox with OEL6 as the operating system.

I did all pre-installation tasks and was ready to install the package in the grid, but I'm stuck at somepoint (to be precise 65%, where the /u01/app/11.2.0/grid files must be moved to node 2). I have waited long, but it's not far at all.

This, I tried three times but still no use.

    My System Configuration is:

    Windows 10 - 64 bit

    i5 - 4200M (4 CPUs) - 2.5 GHz

    8 GB RAM

    The Configuration of the VM:

    Base memory: 3GB

    Processor: 2 processors

    stuck.png

    Please help me with this.

    Thank you

    RT

It would be mainly due to the firewall - disable them. Reference: Oracle 11 g R2 Grid Infrastructure installation stuck on 65%

  • Script or command to determine the ESX installation date

    Hello

I was responsible for getting the date of installation of each ESX host in my infrastructure. Y at - it a script or the cmdlet that is used to determine this information. I have looked around, but discovered nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    G

As I know there is no property that gives you the installdate.

There are alternatives, but all do not give a solution that will always return the correct date.

I prefer to look for the oldest statistical data for the host

-This requires that statistical data are retained indefinitely

-If the host has not added to the vCenter immediately after installation, the returned date might be off significantly.

-due to a bug in the cmdlet Get-Stat, I use the QueryPerf method instead of the cmdlet Get-Stat

    $esx = Get-VMHost MyEsx $perfMgr = Get-View (Get-View ServiceInstance).content.perfManager
    $spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.PerfQuerySpec $spec.StartTime = (Get-Date).AddYears(-2)
    $spec.Entity = $esx.ExtensionData.MoRef
    $metric = New-Object VMware.Vim.PerfMetricId $metric.counterId = 2 $metric.instance = "" $spec.MetricId += $metric $stats = $perfMgr.QueryPerf($spec)

    Write-Host $stats[0].SampleInfo[0].Timestamp

The script assumes that it must be less than 2 years since the host was installed, but you can easily change that by changing the setting to the AddYears method.

    Hello

right 11 GR 2 requires no ntp server (although always recommended).

Unfortunately the check-in facility, do not see if NTP is running, but will also look for/etc/ntp.conf. So in addition to kill and by disabling the ntp, you must rename/etc/ntpd.conf.

  • Control of grid installation Questions

Start planning for Grid Control install to manage multiple test databases. All databases work on x 86-64 RHEL 4 and oracle 10.2.0.4. Have a new Windows 2003 server running eVision CARD server software available for the drafting of reports, which is mainly used during normal office hours. Nothing else will work on this server. I intend to install the Grid control for servers in database of test on the Windows machine. If successful, I have a similar server I'll install the production control Grid. Two questions: 1. any reason why the control grid can not share a server with other software? and 2. Should I install control grid of 10g or 11g? Grid control is compatible with lower versions? We are planning to upgrade to db 11 GR 1 material later this year.

  • Failed to start oracle-ohasd, error: ioctl inappropriate for the ohasd device was able to start to roothas.pl

    Hello

I am trying to install the Oracle 11.2.0.1 on Oracle Linux 7.0 database 64-bit deployed on VirtualBox. I'll put up a single on making ASM instance database so the grid on a stand-alone server installation. I launched the installer of grid with YES. When I run the script from root

    /U01/app/grid/product/11.2.0/grid/root.sh

    I get the following error:

Default: no such file or directory for the command/sbin/initctl start oracle-ohasd

ohasd could not start: ioctl inappropriate for this device, /u01/app/grid/product/11.2.0/grid/crs/install/roothas.pl line 296

After installing Oracle Linux 7.0 there is no/etc/init and also no/sbin/initctl created automatically under Linux. I don't know if these directories need to be created automatically or not?

I googled this problem. Most of the solutions is like this:

    """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

    Hello

Problem is indeed due to the incompatibility of the upstart/init. Here are the average working:

    1) proceed with the installation as usual until root.sh invocation.

    (2) prior to root.sh edition $GRID_HOME/crs/install/s_crsconfig_lib.pm, go to line 1173 (you should find a code like: if ($srv eq 'ohasd') {# OHASD Start).

    (3) insert a following code snippet before starting the game OHASD (line 1173)

    My $UPSTART_OHASD_SERVICE = 'oracle-ohasd. "

    My $INITCTL = "/ sbin/initctl;

    ($status, @output) = system_cmd_capture ("$INITCTL start $UPSTART_OHASD_SERVICE");

    If (0! = $status)

    {

    error ("' cannot start $UPSTART_OHASD_SERVICE, error: $! '");

    return $FAILED;

    }

    (4) create a file /etc/init/oracle-ohasd.conf with the following content inside

    # Start OHASD oracle

    start the runlevel [35]

    Stop the runlevel [. 35]

    respawn

    exec /etc/init.d/init.ohasd run > / dev/null 2 > & 1 </dev/null

    (5) call root.sh

    (6) complete the installation.

If you have already run root.sh (unsuccessfully), simply roll back:

    $GRID_HOME/crs/install/roothas.pl - deconfig - force - verbose

    Make changes above and continue.

    """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

The part above is not the solution!

    How to solve the problem?

    Thank you!!!

I accidentally fell root.sh as cluster grid facility in node 2. Now, node 1 has + ASM2 instance and node 2 has + ASM1.

I bet that node 1 is not the primary node now. How to fix this?

Urgent help please. I have to go forward to the installation of the db.  It is a prod environment.

    Appreciate your help.

    Hello

    Unconfigure and reconfigure the clusterware.

    as root

    (1) ' $GRID_HOME/crs/install/rootcrs.pl - deconfig-force "on Node2

    (2) "$GRID_HOME/crs/install/rootcrs.pl - deconfig - force - lastnode" on node1

    (3) run root.sh on node1

    (4) run root.sh on node2

    See you soon,.

Using RAW could be the problem. I'm not sure someone who has used Virtual Box with raw disks for their RAC testbed. Most people use ASM. I've seen a few people use NFS as well. You'll also want to stay away raw because that which is frowned upon in 11.2. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e41962/whatsnew.htm#RILIN931

Under the Options deprecated for Oracle RAC 11 g Release 2:

"Installation of files on raw devices is no longer an option available during installation. You must use a shared file system, or using Oracle Automatic Storage Management. »

Here's how to configure RAC on my laptop with Virtual Box: http://www.peasland.net/2015/04/23/oracle-rac-on-my-laptop-with-virtual-box/

    Thank you very much

    Hey you guys,

Thanks, I thought of her late last night. After a lot of research and to see pieces everywhere, I went to the Oracle Documentation and to make my OS was not compatiable with the version of the grid Infrastructure. I have been using Linux 5.2 and I used 11.2.0.2. I decideed to do a new installation with Linux 6.5 and 11.2.0.3 it worked like a charm. Once again thank you for everything you do!

  • Installation of the Infrastructure of grid and patchwork of power supply

Version of the GRID: 11.2.0.3, 11.2.0.2
    Platform: AIX 6.1

Found a similair in a spiral position in OTN on. But couldn't find the answer here; That is why this announcement

We install the grid using the GUI installation program grid. When you perform a new installation of the Infrastructure of grid 11.2.0.2 or 11.2.0.3 in a new server, I want to apply its latest PSU as well. When should I do this task PSU?
    A. Should I apply the GI PSU after the entire Grid installation is successfully completed ?
    or
    B. Should I apply the GI PSU just before running the root.sh ?
ie. when the installer prompts you to run root.sh (see the screenshot below)
                http://husnusensoy.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/camtasiastudio351.png
At this stage(before running root.sh) the GI binaries are in place . So , I can apply the PSU on these binaries? Right?
Should I follow option A or B above?

    Hello

Should a. I apply the PSU IM after the installation of the grid ends successfully?

Yes, you must complete the successful installation and after apply PSU

    B. can I apply the PSU im just before you run the root.sh?
That is to say. When the installation program prompts to run root.sh (see the screenshot below)
    http://husnusensoy.files.WordPress.com/2009/10/camtasiastudio351.PNG
At this point (before you run the root.sh script) GI binaries are in place. So, can I apply the power supply on these binaries? Right?

Yes, you must complete (close) runInstaller after root.sh, so you can ask the PSU, because if you start with YES opatch (runInstaller) runs the inventory will be locked.

Also, you have an opportunity to decide if you want to use the software upgrades during the Installation.

YES can install updates patch reviews, requirements system updates (hardware, operating system settings and packages of core) for the operating systems supported and other important updates that can help ensure that your installation is going smoothly. Oracle recommends that you enable the software updates during the installation.

If you choose to enable the software updates, and then during installation you must provide valid My Oracle Support username and password during installation, so that YES can download the latest updates, or you must provide a path to the location of a software updates package you downloaded previously.

If you plan to run the installation in a secure data center, so you can download updates before you start the installation by starting YES on a system that has Internet access to download update mode. To start YES to download updates, enter the following command:

    $ ./runInstaller -downloadUpdates

Provide My Oracle Support user name and password and provide the parameters of the proxy if necessary. After downloading the updates, transfer the update file to a directory on the server where you plan to run the installation.

    Kind regards
    Levi Pereira
