Search box settings

When I click inside the Google search box and start to enter a character, the box turns blue and the characters are not displayed so I'm not able to see what I'm typing. The results appear below the search field. I am also able to left click, hold down and drag the cursor in the search box and the characters will appear as if I'm highlighted for delete with white characters on a black background. I have Windows 7 with the Firefox browser. Is this a problem of configuration Windows, Firefox or Google? How can I fix it?

Which may be caused by protection of typing"Comcast constant guard.

    Found this.

Click on the Start button and select settings.

    Then select devices.

Click on the mouse and touch pad and scroll down and select 'extra mouse Options '.

This will open a box that should have the information and the name of the type of touchpad has your computer.

Click on settings and then in the new box that opens, you should see a tab that says 'Tapping '.

Open this tab and you should see 'Three finger Tap' and 'four finger Tap.

Clear the check boxes, and then click 'apply '.

  • Commercial banner appears on the search box.

When I go to the google home page and start typing my search, he jumps in the middle of the screen upward (probably to make room for results).

However, as I continue to type, I very often get a banner shopping that appears right above the search box, immediately stop me from typing [see image attached]. I then hit the 'X' on the right of the banner before I can continue typing my search.

It is incredibly annoying, because sometimes it will keep triggering whenever I click in the search box.

It seems to be triggered if what you type is linked to something, you could buy, so for example, if you had to type the name of a book or a movie, it would pop up with a link to ebay or amazon and you give the best price for that item.

It is not in my modules. I am running XP with Firefox 38.0.5

  • How can I return search box in a new tab? When I open a new tab, it is only to show the address bar.

When I click on + to open a new tab, this tab shows only the address bar, no search box! This problem is created suddenly. Previously, this problem, when I opened a new tab it shows google search box and the address bar. Now, the address bar of the new tab worked for both page looking box and address bar.

I followed: config process and it's worked. But, when I start my computer after a few more hours I see this problem! What can I do? Please tell me.

I have attached a picture of your understanding.

I wouldn't try a reinstall immediately. An ordinary reinstall often not made the changes that it would bring.

user.js file will be a small file in your profile and contained text. If copy you and rename user . txt or user.js.txt it will be readable by any word processor, even if Notepad can open it is.

Paste the content in your next reply. He can give us some clues as to what is happening.

In fact the user.js file will change behavior of Firefox and you want to simply rename temporarily; instead of renaming a copy; in order to disable and see what happens.

Just another thought the usual options used for newtabs

    • Subject: white - it's a plain blankpage, no bar to search it.
    • Subject: newtab - currently by default has a search bar and the tiles
    • topic: home - a search bar and some settings icons etc

You can try one of these out by typing in the address bar Subject: House or whatever, (or try on: subject).

It is has two troubleshooting steps simple which will help, but you don't seem to have tried yet.

First, try fashion without failure of Firefox.
For example, in now the SHIFT key when you click the icon to start Firefox

The second interesting to try procedure is to create a new additional profile for test purposes. Which erases most of the settings and not be affected by file user.js or interfere with your existing settup. You get the choice what profile to use when you start Firefox.

  • Just installed v35. Now that the search box does not work. ??

Today I got a message that Firefox v35.0 (Windows version) is ready to install. So I let it install. Once the installation is complete and restarted Firefox, the search box is more work. It presents suggestions for my default search engine (Google), but when I click on a suggestion, nothing happens. Or if I type the search term in directly or click on the arrow (right out of the box), nothing happens.

If I put the search term in the URL window, it works, but I prefer to use the search box separate of the address bar.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

    • In previous versions of Firefox, click on the Firefox button in the upper left of the Firefox window and click help (or click on help in the Menu bar, if you do not have a Firefox button) and click on restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

    Thank you for reading.
(p, s, I also tried the mode firefox safe so that the add ons are disabled, but it's none of them among the things that I tried to fix it)

Hello Nicqi, this is just a feature that google adds to its search results - it is not caused by or related to press you the keys: https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/2620861

in the case where you use adblock more, you can add this custom element hiding filter to get rid of the knowledgegraph box:

    google.com##li.kno-result

or you can use a userContent.css file with this content:

    @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
    @-moz-document domain(google.com) { li.kno-result { display:none!important; } }

  • Could not load any websites. I don't get any 'error message', the 'enter' key has no effect in the address bar. Works fine in FF and IE search box.

Entering a URL in the address bar and pressing on enter does nothing. Or the 'enter' key or 'address arrow bar', to go to the site function. Web site does not load and no error message appears. 'Enter' key works very well in the FF and IE search box, is not my keyboard.

Tried most of the recommended fixes under the "Error loading websites" article with the exception of "DNS refetching", as typing "about:config" in the location bar does no good as the "enter button" won't function. I've removed and re-added FF back into the windows firewall, removed ZoneAlarm from my system, edited proxy settings, deleted and reinstalled FF several times. NOTHING WORKS!!! I'm a die hard FF fan and this is KILLING me. Please HELP!!!

  • Number of the start/search box

He said help looking for "sensors" in the search box to find out my position. Well when you do the search gave 4 email from Windows Live Mail. Don't have no idea why and finally discovered how to remove them from that location. By opening the location of the file and make a right click then and delete from the trash. Does anyone have to guess why it happened?

So basically anything including emails will show when the research is done in the start/search box?

Yes, which was the case for the past 11 years since Windows Vista.  The start menu search box can search all: files, photos, emails and settings/control panel and more.

For anyone who finds this thread on the road, here's another way to do it.

RoboHelp (2015 Release) click the project tab in the Ribbon, and then click the project settings. (you can also easily open the project settings by pressing Ctrl + Shift +?)

This should open the project settings dialog box.

Make sure the general tab is to the point and click on the button "Advanced".

This should open the advanced settings of the localization dialog box.

Scroll down to the section titled: [ResponsiveHelp] and find the setting that reads: search = search.

Click on this line to give it focus, then click Edit.

Change the line as follows search = (Type what you want to see here)

Click OK Click OK to dismiss the dialog boxes, and then generate the output again.

  • How can I change the Focus of the URL bar for the Google search box?

    Hi guys,.

I want to change the new direction of the tab in the URL bar of back to the google search box.

    How can I do?

    -Chris

    You can watch this extension:

  • Hebrew does not appear in the securities or Firefox search box tabs

Hebrew does not appear in the Firefox search box, or in the title tabs. But when I type in the Firefox search box and press ENTER, it searches and displays written correctly in the Google search box in the Google results page. Firefox is the latest version. Mac's OS X 10.6.8. I see that Microchip470 has posted exactly the same problem.

What finally solved my problem has been installed the module "Theme font & size changer", then change the font in the search box of Firefox thanks to the add-on.
