Search box

When I open the start window search box and type something and press on enter, nothing happens.  It just goes back to a blank window.

Hello

In the Menu start, open the all programs, open accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".  In at the prompt, type the following command and press ENTER.

sfc/scannow                (Note that there is a space between sfc and /)

Let the entire process, then the output type and press ENTER.  Restart the PC.

Is there any change in the research question?

Kind regards

    You can watch this extension:

  • Hebrew does not appear in the securities or Firefox search box tabs

Hebrew does not appear in the Firefox search box, or in the title tabs. But when I type in the Firefox search box and press ENTER, it searches and displays written correctly in the Google search box in the Google results page. Firefox is the latest version. Mac's OS X 10.6.8. I see that Microchip470 has posted exactly the same problem.

What finally solved my problem has been installed the module "Theme font & size changer", then change the font in the search box of Firefox thanks to the add-on.

You are having problems with the search bar on the right end of the toolbar or from the search box in one of the internal pages of Firefox, for example the integrated home page or the new tab page?

With the search in the toolbar bar, normally, as soon as you start typing, or if you click it with the text already in it, the button panel descends. What is happening? While you type there may be suggestions for your default search engine. You get? And finally to search you can press enter or click on the arrow. No results?

  • How to fix the google homepage search box spread in ff38

For some reason, the 'search box ' on the google home page is "biased" when I switch to ff38 (actually it started to happen for anything more than about 24 version). The page displays normally except the search box is shifted to the left about 3 inches. Also when I type in the text is also not display correctly (not centered in the box). It is not "deadly", but very annoying. Any ideas on how to solve this problem would be appreciated. Thank you

    You are welcome.

It is perhaps possible to modify the script to better behavior or use the CSS code in userContent.css instead.

  • Commercial banner appears on the search box.

When I go to the google home page and start typing my search, he jumps in the middle of the screen upward (probably to make room for results).

However, as I continue to type, I very often get a banner shopping that appears right above the search box, immediately stop me from typing [see image attached]. I then hit the 'X' on the right of the banner before I can continue typing my search.

It is incredibly annoying, because sometimes it will keep triggering whenever I click in the search box.

It seems to be triggered if what you type is linked to something, you could buy, so for example, if you had to type the name of a book or a movie, it would pop up with a link to ebay or amazon and you give the best price for that item.

It is not in my modules. I am running XP with Firefox 38.0.5

  • How can I return search box in a new tab? When I open a new tab, it is only to show the address bar.

When I click on + to open a new tab, this tab shows only the address bar, no search box! This problem is created suddenly. Previously, this problem, when I opened a new tab it shows google search box and the address bar. Now, the address bar of the new tab worked for both page looking box and address bar.

I followed: config process and it's worked. But, when I start my computer after a few more hours I see this problem! What can I do? Please tell me.

I have attached a picture of your understanding.

I wouldn't try a reinstall immediately. An ordinary reinstall often not made the changes that it would bring.

user.js file will be a small file in your profile and contained text. If copy you and rename user . txt or user.js.txt it will be readable by any word processor, even if Notepad can open it is.

Paste the content in your next reply. He can give us some clues as to what is happening.

In fact the user.js file will change behavior of Firefox and you want to simply rename temporarily; instead of renaming a copy; in order to disable and see what happens.

Just another thought the usual options used for newtabs

    • Subject: white - it's a plain blankpage, no bar to search it.
    • Subject: newtab - currently by default has a search bar and the tiles
    • topic: home - a search bar and some settings icons etc

You can try one of these out by typing in the address bar Subject: House or whatever, (or try on: subject).

It is has two troubleshooting steps simple which will help, but you don't seem to have tried yet.

First, try fashion without failure of Firefox.
For example, in now the SHIFT key when you click the icon to start Firefox

The second interesting to try procedure is to create a new additional profile for test purposes. Which erases most of the settings and not be affected by file user.js or interfere with your existing settup. You get the choice what profile to use when you start Firefox.

  • How to activate the "paste & search" in the search box?

I 'Stick' and ' paste & search "in the menu popup when you click in the search box, but they do the same thing: just paste what is on the Clipboard. How to get 'Paste & search' to paste AND search, as it says?

Also, try to Restart Firefox in Safe Mode and then try the search context menu function. Safe mode temporarily disables the modules, and you have a lot of them, so it's a great possibility that one of them could be the cause of the problem.

  • When you open gmail in firefox, the search box will automatically display the e-mail address of someone, how can I avoid this?

An e-mail address automatically appears in the google gmail search box. This only occurs when you start Firefox and click anywhere clears the contents of the box. This anomaly did occur on a single machine, not on my laptop, which is sync to the machine in the concerns. It does not occur in Google Chrome, etc.
Small problem, but annoying nonetheless... we're never careful enough with viruses and tastes.

  • Just installed v35. Now that the search box does not work. ??

Today I got a message that Firefox v35.0 (Windows version) is ready to install. So I let it install. Once the installation is complete and restarted Firefox, the search box is more work. It presents suggestions for my default search engine (Google), but when I click on a suggestion, nothing happens. Or if I type the search term in directly or click on the arrow (right out of the box), nothing happens.

If I put the search term in the URL window, it works, but I prefer to use the search box separate of the address bar.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

    • In previous versions of Firefox, click on the Firefox button in the upper left of the Firefox window and click help (or click on help in the Menu bar, if you do not have a Firefox button) and click on restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • I use add time to find and organize research, FF34 only has no search box, how can I add a?

I tend to use the Site search, if available, instead, bookmarks, I use "add to search bar" to make the correct xml file, then I use to organize research to the group by category... (373 user research currently xml files) as soon as FireFox put to upgrade to 34, I see an empty space in the toolbar instead of the search box... I need the search box to get to all my saved search providers. BTW, 'to aid research' works normal, offering my menu expected of suppliers organized. Same problem/symptoms, two systems of Windows 7 that I use.

I have a right-click on the search box and probably clicked on the choice of menu from the top, hidden behind a bubble. I liked having a separate search box.

    Hi PeteKoch,

It is very likely that you accidentally hit the passage to the menu option. Click on the menu (three bar icon), if she is inside this menu:

    1. Click on "Customize."
    2. Drag / move the rear bar on his previous spot next to the awesome bar.
    3. Click on "customize output.
  • Is it possible to restore the previous features of the search box (press F4, first letter, go)? It is so much faster.

The way the search box has been changed in the new version really slows change search engines. Is there any setting in order to restore the old feature? Be able to press F4 and then press the first letter of the engine that you want done things seriously fast. It was one of the main reasons I stuck with firefox. The same functionality can still be maintained with the new design. Even if I memorized the number of tabs between the search engines in the new system, it would be even heavier.

Hello, I have suffered from a similar problem with the new search bar type. I found that you can go in about: config, then find the Boolean browser.search.showOneOffButtons and which switches. This should restore the old function. (You may have to restart your browser)

Note that, as always, change your Subject: config at your own risk.

  • In the Google search box cursor flashes but is not enabled

I asked this question on the Google forum but has been done on Mozilla forum. I know that I'm not the only one having this problem, but I've not seen a solution. I don't have any installed extensions. I do not understand how a slider can appear active without actually at work. I have to click in the search box, until the cursor starts to work.
What is this caused by Google or Firefox?
    I use Windows 7.
    Thanks for any help.

I think that I fixed it. I had my Google homepage.
There is a blue icon of Google in the Firefox toolbar, and when I clicked it activates the cursor. If you right click on the blue icon, you will see an address of Google with a suffix of gibberish. I pasted everything as my homepage, and now the cursor is activated when I open Firefox.
