security software

I recently installed on a pc, but slowed down right itthen (CPY operating at 100%). I've looked in Task Manager and found most of the usage was mcafee so I removed it - no change. Since then, I have removed the hard drive and reformatted in another PC. Reinstalled windows 7 and now cannot install mcafee or AVG free - CPU now at 1-2%

You can simply use the built in security software in Windows 7. It is just as capable as 3rd party products.

Don't forget computer practice course... which goes much further in you protecting only a 3rd party product.

Away from questionable sites.

Do not click on links in emails.

Using a browser that will allow you to turn off Flash and JavaScript.

  • What is the best app/security software on a Mac?

I have a MacBook Air (2015) and I was wondering what my options are, as far as security.  I want something that will take a photo using the iSight camera if a wrong password is entered in trying to connect to my MacBook and will send an alert on my phone?  I've seen a lot of options with Android phones, some have even alerts that give you a GPS telling you where your device, if stolen, would be, but I don't have an android phone...  So does anyone have any suggestions on software like this, or any other type of security software? Preference on the Mac App Store, but is the software is reliable I would consider buying it online or in a store.  Thank you!!

  • Impossible to install security software 1603,0, 0 x 000 errors

For the last 3 weeks I tried to install Trend Micro Internet Security software. Initially the 1603 error is out of my attempt to upgrade my version 3.51 to the latest version 5. Software Trend Micro uninstalled my old version then threw a 1603 error when you try to install the latest version. I tried this site and had a broad Trend Micro remote support. The last attempt to remedy the situation failed after 2 1/2 hours of support away from the Hungary and about 5 trying to clean my registry windows and re install my deep security software. Their developers (Tren Micro) came to the conclusion that the fault lies with the installer of windows on my pc. Even if I ran sfc/scannow and no error was detected, I can't get any software security at all to install not only Trend Micro.

As I mentioned briefly earlier that I did everything what to do in what concerns the cleanup of registry entries and temporary directories that is the first step to try to resolve these problems

I need options. Windows reports under its security suite that Trend Micro is installed, but not in a format it recognizes. This is misleading and does not allow me to make one installs clean

    Any ideas?

This is just to inform everyone that this problem has been resolved. Extended support Trend Micro resolved after suspending system restore facilities which I think affected the file access permissions. My security software is now installed, updated and working properly

    Two points:

    1. I do not recommend "suites" of the software, be it security software or another type.  You must choose the best of each type, regardless of who makes it. The company makes the best type prgram A doesn't mean that it's also the best type b.

    2. for an anti-virus program, I recommend eSet NOD32, if you are willing to pay for it. If you want a free anti-virus, I recommend one (do not run more than one) of the following three:

    Avira AntiVir
    Avast
    Microsoft Security Essentials

You also need anti-spyware software (even if you run a program like Microsoft Security Essentials, with anti-spyware feature integrated into it). I recommend that you download and install MalwareBytes AntiMalware (freeware)

About a firewall, the built-in Windows Firewall is very good, and there is no reason to replace it by a third party.

  • Can I have 4 running security software at the same time in XP?

Hello to everyone! I just want to ask experts out there on my plan. I think to install in my laptop, the following security software: 1 Microsoft Security Essentials 2. Ad-Aware Pro 3. Malwarebytes Pro 4. Paid version of Prevx

Can tell me please if having these four software would not create any conflict? And another, I know which of the 3 above paid software here offers a license which are sold on a full-time basis? I mean, once purchased, there is already no need to buy again at end of renewal. Thanks in advance.

Should be good, but you don't need as much. Just do not install / run more than 1 Firewall at the same time. Otherwise, they will conflict. You need Malwarebytes / adaware and Prevx on renewals. Since then, MS do not have these programs

  • HP Client Security software suite

We have just received a custom send EliteOne 800 all-in-One computers. In normal situations, we have simply to wipe the hard drive and install our own operating system on computers. However, these computers have a hardware-level encryption of BIOS which is managed by the HP customer Security Manager software suite.

Anyone (be it HP or a knowledgeable end user) gives me a link to the complete suite of security software for the HP customer? It includes applications such as:

    -HP customer Security Manager

    -HP Device Access Manager

    -HP Drive Encryption

    -HP File Sanitizer

    -Recovery of stolen computers HP

    -Circles of trust HP

I'm only speculate as to the contents of the set and if there is even a suite at all. My game should wipe hard drives, install our approved operating system and install the full suite of encryption in HP software.

For those interested, here's a link to all security software applications.

    Norton internet security becomes awkward

    Peter

    Hello

Yes you still need an antivirus program and you are right that Norton tends to cause problems.

    Norton Removal Tool
    http://Service1.Symantec.com/support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

You want to remove Norton and old and even uninstalled antivirus can leave remnants then download and run
the Norton Removal Tool. Also, I would get Avast and Prevx and you should be in good shape.

Download the 3 to get back to after removing the McAfee antivirus.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT after each.

    --------------------------------------------------------

    Here is what I use:

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with everything I threw at them.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

    Windows Defender

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)

Avast - stop home - free - all shields you do no need except leave Standard, Web and network running.
(Double-click the blue icon - details look OK. - upper left Shields - those that you do not cancel).
    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Prevx - Home - small, fast, exceptional CLOUD free protection, working with other security programs. It comes
a scan only, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something to come back here or use Google to see how to remove.
    http://www.prevx.com/

    PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
    http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unusual with
Avast and Prevx running except a low occasional (not much), updated cookie and then run it as
a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

    I hope this helps.
