See the references given in the index

HR help < rant > Adobe SUCK! It is NOT easy to use. JR, do you listen? < \rant >

Thank you. I feel better.

Now for my question: how to create a reference in the index? I don't want a see also reference, I want to see reference:

Whatever the topic: see the following instead.

Is it possible to do this?

Thank you!

JO

Hi Jo

I don't know who is Jr, but...

Try right-clicking on the expression of the Index and choosing Properties.

See the option titled reference?

Is that helps to accomplish what you ask?

See you soon... Rick

  • Change the index file in the tabular presentation

    OK, this is probably the most stupid and at the same time more simple question ever, but I couldn't find an answer until now

    I use Dreamweaver CS3 and want to build a very simple page with three columns and two rows, where a file is links to each cell. I can set up very well, line up a file for each cell, everything seems correct, but...

    .. If I open the index by the file manager file, even though I see the index page, I can only work directly in the built-in secondary files (and their file names appear in the tab at the top). But I would also like to work in the index file, i.e. change the size of the columns, etc. file names. How can I directly edit the index file (with the exception of the use of an external text editor?).

    Thx for your help!

    Sorry for the confusion between you

    It is an html file and I want to modify it using Dreamweaver.

    The link you provided gave me a clue where to check...

  • Performance the use of a 'Like' filter * is not due to the index right question *.

    Hello
    We have just published an Oracle APEX application for users and encountered a performance problem in the production version that wasn't developing. The interactive report contradicts a simple view that returns data similar to:

    NAME VALUE MIN MAX
    1 1 3 BEL123
    3 3 4 BEL245
    2 1 3 AB222

    The problem is that when you use a filter on the column name with a similar operand (name LIKE "% NICE"). Performance of the queries are very poor (average is 29 seconds to return based on the statistics of the APEX). Are huge paintings, but the performance development is fast (almost instantly). Here are the things I looked in to try to identify the problem:

    (1) I tried to run the same exact query in SQL * more performance is fast in production and development, so it's not the index.
    (2) creating any new reports from zero causes the same results in production and development. So its not anything specific that has been changed in both versions (which are identical)
    (3) put the NAME Like "% NICE" directly in the clause the report SQL product quick returns in production, so the problem is not the user of APEX not seeing the index for some reason any. It also ensures that differences in data in two databases are not the cause of this.

    So my only theory that is somehow using similar filter does not allow the index on the column NAME to be used, but only in the production. Any ideas... I am at a loss.

    I think that if you run the same exact query that generates the APEX, it wouldn't matter if you ran the query of the APEX or SqlPlus. He would still use the same execution plan.
    It seems to me that the optimizer for some reason any do not push predicates in the view which might then a more optimal plan. You could try the 'PUSH_PREDICATE' or 'FIRST_ROWS' advice in the report query and check the generated execution plans to see if they change.

  • INDD 6.0.6 give up when I try to delete the reference in the index

    See also http://forums.Adobe.com/message/4263687 for a discussion of the same problem. Ask here, I'm starting a discussion separate from the same issue affecting someone else (me).

    I am running INDD 6.0.6 on OS X 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo). I have a document. INDD that is part of a 50-page book. The document includes an index. The index was imported originally from MS Word (from another user, unknown version). I'm rewriting the index, editing and re-release strongly. I recently discovered that the index is a reference without a target. To be clear, I don't know of a reference in the text of the document. It is an index entry, created by new cross-reference... menu item in the Index pane. There is no target, because when you look at it with forwarding options, there is a first-level topic, but the referenced field (below the Type see also) is empty.

    I can't delete this entry. When I try to delete, INDD crashes. When INDD covers, he warns that the document is may be damaged, and if I try to delete it again, INDD breaks down. If I try to change the referenced field, INDD accepts but does not take into account the change (the closing of the shutter, but the remains of the unchanged index).

    My current solution is to change the theme to ZZZ and add a new index entry (ZZZ: corrupt entry: delete this before shipping), but it is less satisfactory. What can I do to remove the corrupted index cross-reference?

    The biggest problem is that even if you and someone from Adobe to be able to actually understand what that is the problem and that it is, in fact, a bug, there's nothing they can do to help you. There won't be any several bug fixes for CS4. My memory is that he had some bugs in indexing in the first version of CS4 and at least some of them are fixed, then you must install the patch...

  • Using cross-references in the index?

    I was wondering if there are any suggestions out there for using cross-references in the index.

    I don't think you use the option 'see also' is what I'm looking for; what I want to do is to create index with a cross next to them reference entries.

    I tried this by creating an entry index and typing (see "another name of the topic") next to it, but when I compiled the project that this index entry has not been included because I do not have a subject entrusted to him.

    Is it possible to create an index entry of reference without an assignment of subject? Or are there other workaround solutions that you use?

    Index of cross-references are designed to allow you to have keywords in the index when you click on redirect the user to another keyword. For example I use for acronyms to redirect users to the long version. You are subject cross references within the project? If so, you may not use the index of references by indexing the same way? If the cross-reference you want is outside the project, using the index is not the way I would say. Why not use a link in a topic to a URL, file, etc. You may be able to do what you want with a redirection topic, but I haven't looked into this. Come back with more details if I leave the brand.

  • Break down and an object of a list/table of the index reference

    TestStand using I'm trying to figure out how to break down and an object reference to a table/list of the index. My sequence is attached. I received a few tips of the 3rd developer with VB code, what should be done. I'm having a problem translating in TestStand. VB code follows the description.

    I use .NET to run a 3rd party software using a sequence of imagery system and run 3rd party software tests. In TestStand, my "GetCurrentTests" approach, when an object for a specific sequence reference, returns a reference of type object ' object reference(system.collections.generic.list'1[Radiant.Imaging.TSEngine.ICommand]); expected return a list of tests in the sequence of part 3.

    Next steps "GetCurrentPattern" needs to index through this list in order to get and then define and display the display model of the specific test to start the specific test. This next step class is RadiantImaging.TSEngine.ICommand (interface) and returns an object reference (radiantImaging.PatternGenerator.Patterns.Patternbase): a reference to the model.

    What I'm confused about is decaying of the 'object reference(system.collections.generic.list'1[Radiant.Imaging.TSEngine.ICommand])' return value in order to provide the? indexed reference object for "Model of GetCurrent" step.

    VB code is provided below for me that shows how it can be done in VB. I'm not familiar enough with TestStand, .NET and VB to break down this >

    Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

    p = mTestSequence.CommandList (i). Model

    p.PatternGenerator = mi/gal

    ' p.PatternGenerator.MonitorType = PatternGenerator.Monitor.PrimaryPartial

    p.PatternGenerator = mi/gal

    p.Show)

    result = mTestSequence.RunSingleTest (i)

  • How does the index start and end in the reference Word text VI to a word document?

    How a correlation between the index values start and end to a position or coordinate in a Word document?

    Is it a type of lookup table that will refer to a value of say '35' (to start) to a line or a particular character of the position in a Word document? There is nothing in LV help which explains nothing other than the value '-1 '.

    Hey, JayB,.

    The start and end of the Text.vi in Format Word values are the positions of the characters in the document. The values start at 0 on the first (or ASCII character such as a space, tab, or carriage return) and for each character (or the ASCII character). So for example if I wanted to "BOLD" the word "carrots" in the list below, where the values start at 0 on the word 'grocery store '.

    Grocery store:

    Apples

    Black berries

    Carrots

    Detergent

    Then I would enter a start 33 and the end of the 40s, making sure to count the ramasseherbe returns and spaces.

    I hope this helps.

  • The index used only when given Index indicator

    Hello

    Version of RDBMS - 11.2.0.3.0

    I have a situation where only when I use the Index indicator, index does is used.

    Use case: -.

    1. SELECT query on a table with about 100 KB of data.

    2. have the index on the column that is used in the WHERE clause of the SELECT query.

    CREATE TABLE him_entity (id NUMBER, him_val CHAR(1));

    INSERT INTO him_entity
    SELECT rownum,'1' FROM dual CONNECT BY level<=1000000;

    CREATE INDEX idx_him_val ON him_entity(him_val);

    Without using Index indicator, Explain plan: -.

    SELECT ID
    FROM him_entity
    WHERE him_val='1';

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    | Id  | Operation         | Name          | Rows  | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time     |
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT  |               |  1000K|  4882K|   498   (5)| 00:00:06 |
    |*  1 |  TABLE ACCESS FULL| HIM_ENTITY    |  1000K|  4882K|   498   (5)| 00:00:06 |
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
    ---------------------------------------------------

       1 - filter("HIM_VAL"='1')

    With the help of Index indicator, explain the plan: -.

    SELECT /*+ index(him_entity idx_him_val)*/ ID
    FROM him_entity
    WHERE him_val='1';

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    | Id  | Operation                   | Name          | Rows  | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time     |
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT            |               |  1000K|  4882K|  3485   (1)| 00:00:42 |
    |   1 |  TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| HIM_ENTITY    |  1000K|  4882K|  3485   (1)| 00:00:42 |
    |*  2 |   INDEX RANGE SCAN          | IDX_HIM_VAL   |  1000K|       |  1824   (1)| 00:00:22 |
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
    ---------------------------------------------------

       2 - access("HIM_VAL"='1')

    (1) could you explain why Index was not be picked up without indicator Index for help?

    (2) I gathered statistics for the table before running the query.

    (3) is it fine / safe to use the FIRST_ROWS hint instead of Index indicator?

    Thank you...

    1. SELECT THE ID
    2. OF him_entity
    3. WHERE him_val = '1';

    You select all the rows in the table.

    As your query will extract all lines then the optimal trajectory IS FULL TABLE SCAN instead of using INDEXES

    If we let you use less than 5% of table rows, and then using index can be an optimal trajectory to go for the record.

    1. SELECT / * + index (him_entity idx_him_val) * / ID
    2. OF him_entity
    3. WHERE him_val = '1';

    Your strength of indicator Index to fetch the file by using the index of the query

  • Swedish reference in the index, always in the order of the English alphabet

    My Indesign is in English but the text is in Swedish. I can do the headers of the index in the Swedish alphabet, making, correctly, the letters A, O and has come last, but the headers are always classified in English. For example, in Swedish, starting with en subheading would go ahead starting with Fo subheading. But adobe indexing o reads like an o and it highlights the r.

    Is there any help out there or will I cut and paste the index entries? Thank you, Linnea

    Linnea,

    You must set the default language for the document as well. The language applied to text is not serious, but a default language. To set the default language for the document, make sure that nothing is selected (press Shift + Ctrl + A or its Mac equivalent), open the character Panel, then select Swedish. Now your index will sort correctly, no need to do anything with the fields of sort order.

    InDesign behavior is strange here and fix clearly. It's like this:

    = To get the sorted words correctly to their first letter, you must set the header type in the Sorting Options window

    = To get words sorted correctly by the rest of the letters, you must set the default language for the document.
