See through a solid object in the background

I have AI CS5 and a PC running Windows 7 and fight to make it work:

I drew a horizontal line on the artboard.  On top of that is a big circle, and then I have centered on a small circle at the top of the big circle. I need the small circle on the TWO circles area is transparent so that the line AND the background color I've chosen (for when it is imported in InDesign) will show through.

I looked around forums for answers and decided to choose the smallest circle, go to the transparency palette and select piercing group.  But the center of the larger circle shows where is the smallest circle.  I then chose the two circles (because the line under the two circles must shine through) and then clicked piercing group.  Still no change.  Is there something else I need to know, so here are my questions:

Is there something about the formatting of the circles that needs to be done?  (As perhaps the smallest circle should be formatted without color in there?)

Must all three objects be on different layers?   And if this is the case, then I group objects on different layers?  In addition...

All the objects are grouped on a single layer now, AND I have an effect of necessary strain on them.  Should I remove the chain effect before doing this and then restore the string?  I tried this with the Isolation Mode, but maybe IM is how?

Something else?

And after all this, what do I do?

I am happy to put my file IN Dropbox, if someone wants to take a peek.

Thank you!

ceilr,

You get what you want, if you select the circles and object > compound path > make?

  • Objects on the background?

Is there an easy way to have multiple objects to be part of the background? For example: say I want a solid blue background with clouds on blue. I could make a giant image (but this would be the load slowly), or I could place the clouds on the background where I would like it, but this would result in a horizontal scroll bar to appear because the objects are outside the body. As a workaround I could add code to remove the scroll bar, but I was wondering if there is a better way. Is there a way to tell muse that they are objects of the background?

If the clouds and sky are photographic images, you can probably use a single combined image and use save for Web in Photoshop with a quality setting JPEG very low to get the image less than 100 k (given the nature of the blur of a background image of the sky and clouds).

If the graphics are cartoon or line art, then JPEG will probably introduce too much compression artifacts. If this is the case, according to your design, you can "attach" the clouds. Pinning will cause them to not scroll with the content of the page, which may or may not be desirable. The reason why I suggest pinning is that added items are removed from the "page content" and then does not cause a horizontal scroll bar appears.

  • 5.6 pages move the object to the background?

Near as I can tell, there is no way to float an object behind the text in a Pages 5,6 word-processing file.

I can place the rectangle, select it, but "send to back" do not place behind the text.

Change the implementation of 'Stay on the Page' or 'Move with the text' does not work.

I can't believe they have eliminated this option in the recent upgrade, but hope that they were hiding somewhere that I have not watched.

Someone knows how to do this? (Outside of return to an earlier version of Pages.)

    Photo:

Using the option "master article" seems wrong and a bit stupid.

    Help?

What you have discovered is the trade-off between the use of object moving to Section Master in v5.6 Pages, or by using a real word processing in Pages ' 09 v4.3 (below) that allows to define simply object to the background (selectable or not) and he remains behind the text.

  • Advice on the selection and removal of objects from the background (CS6)

    Hello!

I know that the title is not so accurate. I used HAVE a 1.1, but not a power user. I know there are a lot of different ways to do the job. And if you know what you are doing you can get this done fast. Especially with a lot of files to process. Here is an example of a vector, with that I need to work. I would like to delete all the objects of "background". Those of grey to white vectors, leaving the main work only. I would use this then make a black mask for the PS, but also be able to place on other files without extranious geometry. I tried to select a variety of gray objects and use of analogues of select variety, but it does generally creaded more work, leaving the empty vectors and points without really everytrhing selection I would like to remove.

So, is there an easy way to select and delete all the objects (light gray) background to delete? I wish I could this batch because I have a lot of files to clean.

Here is the file I, if someone wants to take a look (http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/428446/rumble3.ai)

I do not know there is an effective way to do it.

    Thank you

    In advance!

Sorry, I meant the magic wand.

You can enter a blur value (take the darker gray to select level), and then click a white object. Would maybe work. If yellow objects are captured, you could avoid using the magic wand with zero tolerance.

  • Change of colour of several objects when the background color changes?

    Hello everyone

I have another question about transparency in an image.

    rcae.png

    My image has layers

    -bottom - 2: white rectangle

-background - 1: polygonal shape of blue on the white rectangle

    -level 1: image of boat

-level 2-5: the Tower in the form of text, 4, a value of 0, the "years".

What I want to do is to change the gray tones of levels only if they are on the blue form

I tried to use clipping masks, transparent traces, opacity... without success masks. The best I managed was using transparency and mode to achieve this fusion

    RCAE 40 épave 01.png

I am not satisfied with the result, because I can't control the yellow color and because we can see the ship through the 4 now.

Any clue on how should I proceed?

    Kind regards

    Loup

    Loup,

    One way is to:

    (1) create a copy of the objects of level 1-5 at the front very and change of colour on the polygon.

    (2) create a copy of the polygon at the front very and exchange of white color.

    (3) select 1) and (2) and in the transparency dialog box check make the opacity with ticked Clip mask.

The way opacity mask may have changed during the versipons, so it may be a little different in your, but you can try the different options.

As always, Illy has many ways of doing things, if you ask him nicely.

  • Muse: objects on the background not to stay in the background

I have my portfolio site, blue boxes, that I placed as a background for most of my pages. When you visit a page, the boxes are where they are meant to be, but on some pages, when you scroll down, the boxes to the top layer, covering my images. If you click or tap menu, they return to their position, but it is very annoying and looks unprofessional. I did ensure that areas, located in master pages, can be found on the lowest layer and that all images are in addition to the layers, but I really don't know how to fix it.

You can see an example here. Scroll to the bottom and blue cover images.

  • remove objects from the background using a clipping path

A number of years, I've learned a very easy way to remove objects such as logos from backgrounds using masks and then saving them as .eps files that might be included in the InDesign documents without funds. You would simply use the magic wand to make a selection, inverse, create a path and the rest I do not remember.

Simply, I can't find the notes I had on how to do it and can't remember the steps. It would literally take 2-3 minutes at the most to do.

Does anyone know of this method, or something similar and very simple. At best, I am a Photoshop basic user.

    SRiegel wrote:

You don't need to (and probably shouldn't) eps more use.  This is an obsolete format.

The clipping path will read as well in a PSD or a TIF.

You can also use any Photoshop path recorded as a trace of shadow in InDesign, even if it has not been identified as one in Photoshop.  Object > Clipping Path > Options allows you to choose a Photoshop path in the file.

At took the words out of my mouth.  PSD is the preferred format for most applications these days.  You can choose to import as a single merged object or keep the layers.  EPS works well with Photoshop.

In response to Sid, if you use a clipping path to draw a logo, then you might as well make the logo as a vector of the form of the original using as a model.  I regularly take this approach fuelled the logos of low resolution for things like sponsors etc.  Because you do not use the raster version, you can n to facilitate tracking it.  All the perpendicular lines of the limits of the image (don't know why I don't have not just "square") can be stored neatly by use of Guides, but you can also force the path points to have a square to the previous point by holding down the SHIFT key.  The resulting vector shapes can be saved as custom shapes, but I use libraries as you can organize them better.

  • Receptive Slide height develops all the objects on the slide master background.

    Hey,.

If I build a sensitive project and slides, I need to unlock the height of the slide in mobile mode on some slides to create a scrolling to display more content.

When I adjust the height of the blade, it develops all the objects in the background of the slide (my header, title...). These elements are not merged.

Is there anyway that I can adjust the height of the blade so that it is not developing all the objects on the slide, only the backdrop (i.e. the white canvas). I try to use a model of slides for content pages.

Or is the only way around it to create a number of different slide masters with heights of slide?

    See you soon

    Hello

I feel your pain. I struggled with this for a long time, but finally found a solution.

If you want to extend the height of the blade, creating a scroll bar. But you want certain elements to stretch and others do not.

Object to Extensible NOT / Static

    • Create in the Slide Master
    • Set the properties top and % Relative height.

    Stretch/dynamic objects

    • Create directly in slide film
    • Set the Top % Relative property
    • Set the Height property for % (not related).

I recommend to create a slide film finalized and then duplicate this slide for all other instances.

Let me know if it works.

  • Question about merging with the function of the background

Hello, I was wondering if someone can tell me when it is useful to use the fusion with the function of the background.  I see nothing in the documentation on the subject. It seems to me that you can make your changes on the master slide, and you would not need the feature.  If I'm misunderstanding please let me know, thanks.

    Hello

Is not safe to be comprehensive here, just my ideas. If you merge objects with the background on a master slide, you can save on the size of the file, because the background is an image, compared to several objects. You will not be able to edit these objects more. Also the slide background will always be behind any object. For slides model objects you can have them either on top, where they sit on top of the stack, or not. If you have objects of time during the rest of the project, they will always be on top of the slide background, but if you slide model objects, they'll be on top of the object of time during the rest of the project, unless you put that one always on top. You can disable to show slides on normal leaves model objects, separately from the power off from the slide background. Some of my ideas. For objects that I still want to be with the background, I'd prefer to merge. For objects that do not always, I will keep the separately and it is of course always the case for the button of interactive form that you cannot merge with the background (which is just an image, non-interactive).

  • Display the widget of the matter in front of other objects on the slide

Have created a widget issue using the Widget Factory library, I run into a problem when I add other objects to the question slide that they always display in front of the widget, when I want the widget to display in front. I can get around by merging objects with the background, but this obviously make no editable objects.

    Can someone suggest something else?

    Andrew

    Hi André,.

Try to add these lines of code to the part of the duration of your widget and see if he's bringing her to the top.

    Widget: var DisplayObjectContainer = getSlideObjectByName ("TWidgetQuestion1");

    widgetSlide.setChildIndex (widget, widgetSlide.numChildren - 1);

  • Merge in the background?

Why can't I combine an object in the background in CP5?  I right click on an object (highlight box, text caption, image) and the fusion in the background option is not there.  CTRL-M does nothing.  In the menu edit, the fusion in the background is disabled.  It does work on a master slide, but not a regular shift.  This is in CP4.  What happened to him?

    Mister C.

    Hello rgcunningham,

I understand your concern. This feature is also available in Captivate 5.

Here are the steps that you must follow

Double-click on the slide and it will open the slide properties

You can see the basic slide background is enabled, simply uncheck

Now insert any standard object on your slide, for example I have besides a highlight box and click on it and now in the main menu, click on edit, and you can find that edit with background option is now available.

    I hope that helps!

    See you soon

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Newbie here... Is there a way to check what is running in the background

Is it possible to see what programs are running in the background on a 8820.

    Thanks in advance

Well some applications are still running in the background (browser, homescreen, BlackBerry Messenger, phone, Messages)

You can check by holding down the ALT key + click on an icon on the home screen. In the menu that appears, choose Application Switch. Or you can try, press the ALT key and now your Escape key to access the screen of the Application Switch

  • Import EPS and make the background transparent

    Hi all

Basically, I'm a n00b with Illustrator.  I have a logo EPS (downloaded from here: http://www.allfreelogo.com/logo/federal-bureau-of-investigation-fbi-logo.html) and perfectly, it is important to Illustrator.

However, after I resize, when I do the "Save for Web and Devices", it keeps creating my GIF file with a blank despite I asked transparent background.  Is there a way to do that is transparent?

I'm sure it's a small thing I'm missing because I do not know Illustrator.  Thanks for any help.

Perhaps there is a white object in the background. What you could do, it of take the eyedropper tool, click on the white area of the image and click the transparent button in the color palette.
