  I used Photoshop CS3 at work, now I'm retired I started using PS 10-elements; can't afford the real thing! I thought that would be substantially the same as CS3 for fairly simple jobs.

  I can't select more than one layer. I select a layer and then hold the Ctrl key, select another layer. The first layer is not checked and the second is selected. I use "Select"-> "All layers", but I am still unable to deselect the layers individually. I know it must be something I am doing wrong, but I'm at a loss to know what! Help!

  I found the answer!

  A little dark, but to know about. I run two computers from the same keyboard and mouse. The second computer is a server for my farm and for security reasons is almost a firewall from the internet but access to it and its screen using 'Synergy' (http://synergy-foss.org/) over the network. Sounds complex but once you have it stood up and launched, you can forget about it and your mouse and your keyboard just move between computers as if they were one.

  Not with Photoshop but! That's what was causing the problem and was slaughter control keys work.

  Deactivation of synergy makes it work OK!

  All my other software is OK with synergy.

  If I use a computer slower than the master of synergy and then use Photoshop on the slave of synergy, that the control key works even on a fast machine.

  I used to be able to do and on my laptop I can do now (same OS and Photoshop), but the mac that I use for my design work won't... I must also, right-click and select the layer highlighted. I have a document a lot of multilayer Photoshop with many groups, and it is an extra step of your time.

  Is there a preference I can turn on? Or some other simple typo?

  Select the tool move and set the options of the control bar. By default, it took to select a group, simply change layer.

  You might be able to use an action something like this:

  Before you run the action with the not visible color fill layer

  

  After the execution of the action to select the fill color now visible and selected layer.

  

  You have to experiment the action according to the number of layers, and where in the stack of invisible layers are.

  For the the second stage of the action of the layer current Show that makes all invisible layers visible, stop recording the action after selecting all layers ( Select > all layers) and make the invisible layers using the layer > hide layers

  Then resume recording of the action and go to layer > show layers.

  Without updates or changes in preferences I know, PS began to work differently for me today. With the tool move I normally have the option 'automatic selection of layer... '. "on. I can then select subgroups in my layers palette, hold down the command toggle button temporarily «automatically select layer...» " offshoreand drag this subgroup around the canvas.

  Today when I toggle the button «Auto select layer...» ' on, now the command temporarily switch it out.

  But when I switch the "layer select automatically...". "button off, holding command modifies the 'Group of layers' option next to him.

  Anyone know why this just started happening, or how I change it back and leave the command button to temporarily keep the selected subgroups ?

  It's a little confusing, but creative cloud, you will also see fine 'Photoshop CC' and ' Photoshop CC (2014).

  The first is 14.* PS and the second is PS * 15-active extract in Photoshop CC (2014).
