  Customer service does not help with purchases made elsewhere nor do they help with installation problems product aged.  If the indication is that you have already used the number, it is likely, you have done but never made use of it, in which case is is you keep it for you.  Your only recourse would be with the one who sold you the card.

  If you have never installed and do not have the package that the disk is available and you are not likely to be able to do much.  A you have installed and registered, you might find your serial number registered in your Adobe account online.  As it is, you don't have anything other than a disk, and unfortunately this is not proof of ownership.

My computer is a standard industry individually self-made with more than 3 terabytes of HARD disk space and 16 GB of RAM with 2 x 4600 Nvidia Quadro graphics for design work specific cards and running windows 7 Professional and an evaluation copy of windows 8, so I don't have a system of traffic on the specifications indicated the installation was fast, but I'm stuck with the invalid number serial number.

  In this case I'd

  1) contact your Academy and see if they have updated their online courses to allow download of the CS6 extended to the time your semester begins and

  (2) contact the Customer Service of Adobe Education Store to see if you have met the requirements for obtaining the license CS5.5 after a certain date in the past, but before the release of the CS6.  You see that it is a certain window you must fall into. If you obtained the license too far in the past so it is not valid for the CS6 but your school should do rentals for you if they expect you to complete the course work.
