Server 2003 Firewall blocks my windows 7 pro file sharing

I have a small home network with a Server 2003 machine, 2 wired xp machines, 2 machines xp wireless and a machine of windows 7, which can be wired or wireless. (Currently hard-wired). My problem is the windows 7 machine cannot connect to 2003 server machine as long as the windows 2003 firewall is enabled. I tried all the fixes for the windows Networking 7 and he gave windows 7 access to the other xp machines to share files, but has no result on Server 2003. I can't understand what in the firewall blocks access to windows 7. All xp machines access the server very well and they can also access the machine of windows 7 to share files. Windows server can not see the machine windows 7 with the active firewall, but has no problem with the firewall not off. Since I run a few web sites from the server I am reluctant to leave the firewall off. Anyone has any ideas what to turn on or to leave windows 7 and server 2003 talk if the firewall?  I'm perplexed--Brewmaster

  • FTP connection times out on Windows Server 2003 when you run Windows Firewall

This seems to come up recently, perhaps with a recent Windows automatic update.

I have FTP server running on Windows Server 2003 R2.

The NIC has the firewall Windows is activated, which allows port 21 (FTP) through.

When you use an FTP client from a workstation, the FTP client expires when you navigate to a folder with many files, say the folder/images of a website with 10 + MB in total (which isn't really that much). Navigate to other folders with smaller files seems fine.

Now, when I turn off the firewall of the server, then I can use a FTP client on a workstation to access any FTP folder regardless of the number of files or the size of files and everything is fast fast.

This brings me to the conclusion that the problem lies in the Windows Server 2003 firewall, and we must have this option disabled for FTP clients do not expire.

  • Blocked for Windows 8 Pro product key

So, I bought a copy of Windows 8 Pro on Ebay a little more than a month.  I was able to install AND activate Windows 8 Pro with success at the time (1 month ago).  It was a clean install on a new hard drive.

However, I decided recently (a week) to upgrade a bunch of material (card video, monitors, power supply and also temporarily hard drive)... and in doing so, I did a fresh reinstall of Windows 8 (on a HDD test,) then hard disk that I had installed Windows 8 on a previous month.  Both of these fresh relocations a week ago, I was unable to activate Windows 8.  My product code is blocked.

Am I blocked because of my hardware changes?  Or am I blocked because I bought a bad Windows 8 (e.g. maybe I bought a MSDN code)?  Here is the result of Licensingdiag.exe.

Thank you very much in advance!

  • The ISO of Windows 8 Pro file

Install Windows 8 Pro by installing directly without saving a copy of the ISO file. How can I get an ISO file to create a USB key for re - install?

Today, I went through the process successfully with the help of this community. I summarize the following steps for you (I can remember a few steps, but you most).

    Download the .exe installation of:

    http://Web.ESD.Microsoft.com/W8DL/WSEC5B1D8A9DFDFD92DFB736C5B1D8956B5B1D8/Windows8-Setup.exe

Click on Setup.exe. The wizard of Windows 8 will begin. Enter your key of Windows 8 and press Next.

Click install now and let the full download.

The installation files will be stored by default in the C:\ESD\Windows folder.

When the "Install Windows 8" message is displayed, select 'Install by creating media' to create a bootable USB key or .iso (a disk image) file. Chose a folder to store the image, for example "Windows.iso.

Wait for the wizard to create the media or bootable .iso file. The flash player must be having 3 GB or more of free space available.

Burn the .iso file, if that's the path you have chosen, to a blank DVD.

  • What product Vmware is the best for several Windows Server 2003 and 2008 implementation

    Hi all

I am just wondering that if I installed VMware on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and Windows Server 2003 Enterprize edition on VMware I was able to use more Ram installed, our server have 48GB of Ram but Server 2003 Standard allows only 4 GB max to use, to save money, I was wondering just if I can use the way I mentioned above.

Looking at it, I think you have a misconception about the limitations of VMware, RAM and operating system. Your problem is that you see no more than 4 GB of RAM on your x 86 Server 2003 install? This is a limitation of the operating system - to use more RAM you need an operating system that can deal with the RAM.

    • If you install VMware Workstation on Windows Server 2003 standard x 86 edition then you will only be able to use the 4 GB of RAM, Windows Server 2003 Standard x 32 can process.

    • If you install VMware Workstation on Windows Server 2003 standard x 64 edition then you will be able to use the 32 GB of RAM that Windows Server 2003 Standard x 64 can process.

    • If you install VMware ESX, you can adjust your full 48GB of RAM and install multiple instances of Win 2003 Svr Standard, each of which can address 4 GB of your memory live available.

  • If Server 2003 sbs spoil, 2003 standard server can take over and become the primary server?

If Server 2003 sbs spoil, 2003 standard server can take over and become the primary server?

Windows Server 2003 SBS is our 'old Machine '.
Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard will be our "new extra Machine.
    = 2 different machines

    1. can I install additional Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard to an existing Windows Server 2003 SBS as backup domain?

    2. given my Windows Server 2003 SBS is an old machine, keep crash or auto restart or if existing Windows Server 2003 SBS unable to start, spoil, a new Server Windows 2003 Standard R2 can take on the domain controller, and becomes the principal server?

    3. after my old fixed my Windows Server 2003 SBS, can join Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 domain?

    4. you have any side effect or the limitation of SBS and Server Standard on working together in 1 area?

    Hello

Your question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please ask your question in the following forum.

    Windows Server general forum:

    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/winservergen/threads

    Concerning

  • I want to limit the file sharing on a home network, Windows XP Pro (working group) to a specific user on a different computer.

I can't get this username entered with success because I'm limited to only users on the computer, I'm trying.  I have Windows XP off file sharing simple.  Both computers running XP Pro and I can share the folder, but it is open to ALL.  Is there a way to do this?

I would like to try to explain how it works.  You have XP Pro on Computer1 and you have disabled Simple file sharing.  It is a step in the right direction.  The facts are that the file exists on the computer 1 and is 1 computer to control what external connection gets access to this file.  Computer 1 can only validate combinations of username/password names he knows.  Is not in a domain, computer environment 1 includes only names of user and password that exists on the computer 1.  He cannot know or trust any combination of name of user and password that does not exist within itself.  The normal method, most people use is to create the same user on computer 1 that exists on the computer that connects and gives the same password that is used on the computer that connects to this user.  If this is the case, the external user connects seamlessly and have access if 1 computer gave this authorization to the user in this file.  Access can be controlled by right-clicking on the file or folder, select 'Properties' and then use the 'Security' tab to generate an access matrix.

Authentication: When connecting to the computer 1 from another computer, computer 1 search first if the username on the computer connection exists on the computer 1.  If the user name of the user on the computer connection exists on computer 1 and passwords on both computers to match, the connection is established.  If the passwords do not match, the connection is refused.  If the user name of the logged in user does not match a user on computer 1, then the 'Guest' user is attempted.  If the guest user is not protected by a, then the user will resemble the user 'Guest' and 'Guest' appropriate access.  If the guest user is disabled on Computer1, and then the computer connection displays a name of User/Login screen asking the user to provide credentials (name and password) 1 computer can use and recognize to check that the user.  If a name of user and password recognizes that computer 1 is entered, then computer 1 authenticates the user with this credential.

Of course, once authenticated, the user will have access to these files to which permissions have been granted to this user authenticated according to the KB307874.  XP cannot grant permissions to users, he knows not (obviously) beyond the 'Guest '.

Bottom line is that you have discovered in a domain environment (workgroup), you MUST authenticate as a legitimate user who is (and who is not disabled) on Computer1.
