Server 2003, Server SQL 2000 gel. maximum disk queue

Yeh yeh her legacy I know but its still in production.

Here are the specs;

  • farm of about 30 guests
  • vsphere vcenter 5 servers
  • San iscsi EMC to 24 pins
  • Server is server 2003 32-bit. the memory is about 3.4 GB used of CPU resources available 4 GB is 2 Sockets with 4 cores per socket. P2V has had a number of years
  • all other servers seem to be good and have performance issues.

I have a question where the 2003 server is suspended and become unresponsive. End users who use the software and the website that communicates with the SQL database also complain of poor performance. the UI Office stops, then crashes at the same time

I checked the performance of the server vsphere host running this comments and resources are not overloaded. Maximum rate of CPU is around 40%

I loaded the performance monitor on the comments and added leading % and page of memory/cpu, av/disk queue counters. When the user interface is blocked, users experience performance issues line av/drive hits 100%. Queue drive returns to normal and the responsiveness performance returns.

I also ran perfmon on another server that resides in the same data store server and vsphere and I don't see any of the questions / crashes or maximums of the disk queue, so it seems to me be associated comments.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes you can do for the person who is affected, yes as by EMC to proceed with the restart,

I always suggest don't do nothing too your storage space for production servers, perform a good capacity analysis and ensure that the load across storage are well balanced.

All the best and hope you will fix the problem...

    Hi guys,.

I want to know if I take a backup with VCB one of my VM (Windows 2000 + SQL2000) in full mode vm the SQL database will be consistent or not... I know that since ESX 3.5 update 2 VSS support has been improved and should not cause not compatible DB backup... But as my version of OS and SQL are unaware of VSS I would like to know the result of a backup on the DB! Also what about a SQL 2000 on Windows 2003?

    Thanks for your replies

    Concerning

    Julien

Windows 2000 is not aware of vss.

    SQL2000 is aware of vss.

Move to Windows 2003 with sql 2000 and you'll be fine.

  • high avg disk queue length

    Hello..

I just installed a VMware ESXI 4.0 on my IBM M2 Server (7947-ZGA).

on this machine, I have 2 comments to a single server running SBS 2008 and the other Server 2008 STD x 64 with SQL 2008 installed

I have a problem with my SQL 2008 X 64 STD performance. He works a small base SQL (4 GB) for a saving program.

When I run a test of READING/WRITING in the saving program is slow compared to the server that was running in the database before

If look at the performance monitor on the high SQL im expering avg disk queue length.

the server is installed with 16 GB of ram, 8Gbg is committed to each guest.

the server is installed with 2 the 4 physical CPU cores are committed to each guest

the server is installed with 8 disks SAS

system disk 2 disk (RAID1) (two comments are installed on the)

sharing data on disk (RAID5) 3, Exchange database on the SBS server and SQL for SQL server database.

share data on disk (RAID5) 3, NEWSPAPER Exchange on the SBS server and log SQL for SQL server.

There is that 30-35 users on the net, so Exchange DB and DB SQL on the same disks should not be a problem, I think.

enyone who has an idea to set the avg disk queue length?

Is this the same physical disk configuration that you used for the physical versions of these installs?

  • Conversion virtual cluster SQL 2000 to 2 knots to a data center different

    Hello

I want to use VMware converter to migrate the virtual SQL 2000 cluster of 2 nodes existing to a different data center.

Existing cluster is on the same ESX Server. A 2-disc shared: quorum disks and data.

After that, I'll send to synchronize the data in logs.

can anyone provide details, best practices, concerns on how to do it?

If this is the only SQL server, I just set up a new SQL to the DR server and then manually import all the information from the database. P2V a server cluster with player quorum and etc is a delicate bif.

  • Windows 7 - Excel 2010 - unable to connect to the OLAP Cubes SQL 2000

Running 32-bit Windows 7 - Excel 2010 - unable to connect to SQL 2000 of the GreatPlains OLAP Cubes - message Getting connection refused actively.

It works with XP and even load Excel 2010.  I can't find what I need to change in win 7.  I guess that's the firewall or driver settings.  I completely disabled the firewall and still no luck.  I also took the file to connect to the XP machine and tried to use it as an existing connection and still have the error.  I ran Excel on the Win 7 XP SP2, XP SP3 and still no luck.  I have spent hours reading and researching the issue and can not find an answer.
I tried to change the OLAP service account and open all ports on the server.  Still nothing.  The error message will connect to the client computer and the server does not record demand, so I think that I don't yet get on the server.  I do not understand as well as if the message is actively refusing connection.
I can run the cubes very well on the server and on the XP SP3 with Excel 2010 machine.
I'm in my troubleshooting garnis.  There has been some problems, that I have not been able to solve in Microsoft Servers and this is one.  I know that there is an answer.  I'm just not see it.

  • Data loss Virtual Center Database migration sql 2000 2005

Hi, (sorry for my bad English)

I moved the db installation remote sql 2000 Server remote sql 2005. I basically followed these steps:

To migrate a database from the server vCenter 2.5 of SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005:

    1. stop the vCenter Server service.

    2. stop the vCenter on SQL Server 2000 database.

3 take a backup full database vCenter.

4 copy the backup of the database to SQL Server 2005 host.

    5. create a new database on SQL Server 2005.

    6. restore the backup SQL 2000 vCenter database to the newly created database.

7 correct permissions (same account, same password) see KB6565318

8 native ODBC SQL connection change

    9. perform a change/repair Panel vCenter & gt; Add/Remove programs.

10 in the Repair Wizard, I select custom and choose the newly created in SQL Server 2005 database.

11 the authentication type used on SQL 2005 is the same as that used on SQL 2000.

the license screen has an option box that says "I want to evaluate the product first," Setup does not correctly recognize the previous VirtualCenter database. » ???

Now I can access the BDD via ODBC, and I am able to start the VC service. However, when I opened the client - I SEE NOTHING. Everything is gone. Totally empty. The data is still there well. I can go in sql 2005 and open the tables and see my hosts and virtual machines listed.

    Help, please.

    Thank you!

I think that really there is a permission problem, but I'm not only deeply in SQL servers.

Did you check for orphaned users?

The permissions that are defined for the database of RESUMES?

    Kind regards

  • Adding security to SQL 2000 data sources

Adding security to SQL 2000 data sources

I made ColdFusion programming for more than 5 years and now I hired an assistant for myself. So far, I have no warranty on my data sources, but now I need to add user rights for these so if my assistant made a mistake, nothing would happen to the tables. Currently I have about 3 sources of data. I did some research on creating users under Microsoft SQL 2000 and I have created a user account under SQL, but given that my data sources are connected via the account, this user always have full powers on all the tables. Maybe it is more than a simple creation of a user account under SQL and allows read only access to the tables under the permissions tab. Or maybe I need to create new sources of data with different configurations, or perhaps use ColdFusion Sandbox!

This is where I am confused right now and don't know what would be the way to protect my assistant from damaging my paintings!

I'll explain my situation with an example here:

Let's say Mike is a project manager / database administrator and it is the only one in the network, which must have full access to all sources of data/tables. Juta is the programmer who has access to all tables except the Update/Insert access read-only on the tables of 1 or 2.

I would appreciate if someone can help me understand what I need to do to get there.

    Thank you

    Mike R

I assume you are using RDS for Dreamweaver to connect with your ColdFusion server, etc, but ColdFusion doesn't RDS to connect to the database, just for you to be able to 'talk' to CF with Dreamweaver, right? We have RDS enabled in our development environment so that we can use CF Studio (Yes, I know, an antique), but the same thing applies to Homesite or DW, I guess. We have no active RDS on our production server see If I happen to use CF Studio to change templates on the production system, I can not run (or look at databases, etc) and would need to use Explorer to run the model and Enterprise Manager (or SQL Plus, etc) to 'look' to the database. However, you shouldn't really get used to change production CF models without testing in development anyway, so it should really not a problem, unless you do not have instances of database development, etc., which could be a problem with the security of the database. Take shortcuts by not having does not separate and production environments development can bite you.

  • CF8 and MS SQL 2000

I have a few problems to connect to a MS SQL local database that I created. I have a new installation of the version of CF8 dev and uses the eval MS SQL 2000 version. I can connect to a remote SQL database very well, the problem comes when I try to connect to a local database. This is the error I get:

Connection verification failed for data source: noblesqlLOCAL
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] Error establishing socket to host and port: localhost:1433. Reason: Connection refused: connect
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] Error establishing socket to host and port: localhost:1433. Reason: Connection refused: connect

I noticed some people have solved this problem in update to SP3 or SP4. I tried to make these updates, but once they are made my CPU will increase to 100%, and SQL Server will not start.

So, any ideas? Should I try to get these service packs work? If so, any idea what I am doing wrong?
Or is this a problem with my setup?

I have my SQL Server settings that are configured to use Windows and SQL Server authentication.
In CF when adding the database, I use:
    Database: noblesqlLocal
Server: 127.0.0.1 (I also tried leaving empty and type localhost)
    Port: 1433
    Username: his
    Password: thepasswordiset
I also tried leaving them empty...

Whenever I get the same error!

Please help I tried to get this to work for what seems like forever. Thank you!

Well, I never could understand what was wrong... I upgraded to MS SQL 2005 Express Edition and with a few calls to tech from my hosting support got it to work. So who knows what was wrong with 2000 but now I have at least something operational...

  • difference between SQL-2003-2008-SQL and SQL: 1999 on 9i

What are the differences between SQL-2003 and SQL 9i or 10g?

    If I'm not mistaken:
[http://iablog.sybase.com/paulley/2008/07/sql2008-now-an-approved-iso-international-standard/] this watch article which presents the version of sql is sql - 2008.is, he followed in GR 11, 2?

    Edited by: mango_boy Oct 6, 2009 14:21

The reference manual of Oracle SQL language for each version of the database (which dates back at least to Oracle 7.0) has an appendix that deals with compliance with various standards.

The SQL for GR 11, 2 language manual deals with respect to SQL 2008 in the said Appendix.

Not surprisingly, Oracle9i was released before SQL-2008 and (as expected), there is no discussion of compliance.

As usual, your questions can be answered by getting knowing and diving in the docs. Because it's not easy, I refer to the http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10713/intro.htm#i68236 documentation roadmap

  • How to get the maximum disk size for a powershell prompt

    Hi guys

I tried all day to get the value of the maximum disk size allocated to a virtual machine. Using get - view I can see the actual size of disc but when I look at VM via 'Edit Machine' I see ' hard disk 1' ability to 40 GB and and size maximum (GB) to 97.5 - How do I get this maximum size via powershell?

    See you soon

    Sparky

Near there, it is actually the amount of free space on the data store over the current size of the hard drive.

With this script, you can calculate the value

    foreach($dev in (Get-VM  | Get-View).Config.Hardware.Device){
      if($dev.DeviceInfo.Label -like "Hard Disk*"){
        $dsFree = (Get-Datastore (Get-View -Id $dev.Backing.Datastore).Info.Name).FreeSpaceMB
         $diskSize = ($dev.CapacityInKB / 1Kb)
         $MaxSize = $dsFree + $diskSize
         Write-Host "Maximum size for" $dev.DeviceInfo.Label "=" ("{0:f2}" -f (($dsFree + $disksize)/ 1Kb)) "Gb"
      }
    }

  • The disk queue length

I have a dell inspiron 3520, windows 8. I had windows update problems, and I can't update to windows 8.1. I can not reset or refresh windows 8. Note that this may overestimate the actual length of the queue, because the meter includes requests queued waiting and continuous training. If the average disk queue length is greater than two times the number of batteries, then you are probably developing a bottleneck. With a set of volumes, a queue that is never more short the number of active physical disks that you develop a bottleneck.

Figure 8.8 shows a bottleneck of disk with high disk usage and a long queue.
