  Recently the weather gadget for windows sidebar did not work at all. It keeps saying "Service unavailable". As I am posting this now, I clearly have internet connection. I tried all the advice given by experts on the subject a user displayed on its own problems with the gadget and none have worked.   Eventually the gadgets all access similar sources for their information. Have you tried to load another
  for a 2nd page SideBar? Have you checked the firewall to make sure the sidebar and Gadgets can access
  for the net?

  I just bought a new laptop from Dell with Vista home premium 64-bit installed.  I am the only user of this laptop.  Since I bought it, I tried to run the weather gadget on the sidebar.  However, to get an error message "service not available". If I hover my mouse over the gadget, the error message - 'service not available for your language or region.  My notebook of woman with the 32 bit Vista weather gadget works fine...

  Thank you for visiting the Forums of Microsoft Vista.

  We have seen all sorts of questions surrounding the 3 ladies of part antivirus\spyware\malware.

  It is therefore very likely that Mcafee hinders the widget. We can think that it is malware any.

  My advice is to check the Mcafee Web site for more information on the weather gadget in the service.

  You can also try a clean boot and see what it allows to run.

  Microsoft has DISABLED the weather gadgets and currency via a recent update of security, because of worries about the vulnerability associated with these gadgets running on your computer. You can read more here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2719662 . Adjust the settings of your computer and all these other 'suggestions' people are, will NOT work. The function has been REMOVED from the operating system. It has also been removed from Windows 8 operating system. There are "theorists" who agrees that there is a security problem in the gadgets or Microsoft just doesn't support gadgets (usually from third party software) and has therefore disabled them in Windows 7 and eliminated in Windows 8.

  Until I received this suggestion I solved the problem by uninstalling the weather gadget and download another.  He worked after doing this.  I checked the regional and Language Options, and they match.

  I recently had a problem with my weather widget in my sidebar and any other Gadget has a problem.
  It displays normally for all other cities than mine. When I choose my city he displays the same weather 'Fog' and when I drag out of the sidebar, it will blank instead of increase with added information and when I try to put it back in there converted to fog and that he does not change. I tried restoring the system and two types of different changes of regsvr32 to six .dll files with reboots and no luck. I tried everything and was hoping to get help before going to microsoft soon by telephone about this issue.

Gadgets are no longer available on our Web site because the platform Windows Sidebar in Windows 7 and Windows Vista has serious vulnerabilities. Microsoft has retired from the service in new versions of Windows. Gadgets could be used to damage your computer, access your computer files, show you objectionable content or change their behavior at any time.

  Hello, my weather of MS gadget just stopped working right this morning after the reboot required by the monthly batch of updates that happened recently. It just says: unable to connect to the service. Any attempt to change the city just returns not found location. No other changes have occurred on the machine outdoors updates MS.
