Set up a new Collection without losing my place in the library

If I'm editing in the library or development module I sometimes need to create a new Collection for the image I'm trying. Include a new position (on my site) that will contain this image and other later when I finished post-processing. A slightly different scenario, is that I think a necessary collection - not for the image, but I feel that I need to implement immediately in order to "keep thinking".

If I leave the library to implement I sometimes write the name of the file and go to the folder name root in the left pane, click on which brands, grid, place the name of the file in the area of research... you get: a .bunch of steps and file names can return multiple images in the 133 000 files in my library image managed by Lightroom.

I'd love to have a dialog box open on command to type in the settings of a new Collection or Collection value. But it lacks this kind of tool in Lightroom, which is a faster way to put in place a new Collection (part of the hierarchy of the selected Collection) when editing? I used the working sessions plain vanilla "Quick Collection", and this help. If I have another Collection already referred to as the "target Collection', then the quick collection clicks in the upper right corner, or 'B' keys, is marked will force anything to this previous collection, which can be an assignment of old days, now forgotten.

Furthermore, a plug-in that has helped me manage the collections of images specifically for my site/blog is Meow "WP/LR" app that uses the module for publication of Lightroom. (Wordpress environment)

If you change in the develop Module, you can click on the + symbol in the Collections Panel and create a new collection. You can then select from the dialog box to create the collection within a collection (or not).

You can also choose to include the image that you are working. If you choose this option, then return the library module, you will notice that you will see the image you are working on and not parents in the same folder.

Rather than write the number down and research, you can right click on the image and choose «go to the folder in the library»

If you are in the library Module N/control N keyboard shortcut will create a new collection. The same options as above apply. If you choose not to include the image in the collection that you create, you will essentially stay where you are - in the library Module.

Does that answer your question?

So I would like to know if I could:

-install the new windows 10 (not the upgrade but after I installed on my old HD), on my new SSD without losing files and programs already on it.

    That's all, thank you

I explained to him that you can store everything, including the image on the hard drive, then return it to the outer shell to start the imaging boot disk to apply the image to the SSD.

However if you do not want to remove the SSD, it is possible using startup disk Macrium made on another PC to boot the PC with attached externally, save the image partition system and the OS on another partition (shrunk if necessary c using The Partition Wizard CD boot), transfer the data to the SSD and then apply the image to the SSD after the removal of its partition using Macrium or Partition Wizard.

  • Why the Collections with Lightroom Panel disappeared in the library Module?

After the upgrade to Lightroom 5.6 (mac), the Collection Panel no longer appears in the library Module. At first I thought that the collections had been wiped out, but then I noticed that a search for a name of collection found the photos in the collection, as well as the collections display correctly in the develop Module.

I can't understand how to get the list of collections in the library Module, which is where I use them. Can anyone help?  Thank you.

  • How can I sync my iPhone and Apple Watch to a new computer without losing any data?

I'm about to fix my laptop and I need to change my iTunes on PC. But I don't want to lose any data on the health of the Apple Watch.

Copy of the data of all iTunes from the laptop to PC will have all my apps and music. But what about the backup? They are encrypted to record data on the health of my Apple Watch.

Can I copy and paste the encrypted data backup iTunes?

    Please I need help.

Move an encrypted backup from one computer to another value may not work, but as long as no device should be restored now you should be able to migrate from the library to the new computer and then take a fresh encrypted backup of each device.

Migrate a library iTunes from one computer to another

These are two approaches that work normally to move an existing library to a new computer.

    Method 1

    1. Save the library with this trick of the user.
    2. Remove the old computer if you no longer wish to access content protected on it.
    3. Restore the backup to your new computer by using the same tool used to back it up.
    4. Keep your current backup in the future.

    Method 2

Connect the two computers on the same network. Share your old computer < user music > folder and copy the folder of library full iTunes in the < user music > on the new folder. Yet once, remove the old computer so is no longer necessary.

These two methods should give the new computer, a clone of the library work which was on the former. What about iTunes is it is still the 'home' for your devices library you should not have problems with iTunes will erase and reload.

I recommend method 1 because it establishes a current backup for your library.

Note If you have iOS devices and that you have not reached your contacts and calendar all in all items, then you need to create a dummy entry in your new profile and iTunes expected to merge existing data from the device.

If your media folder has been separated in the main folder of iTunes, you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a library of portable split.

If you are in the unfortunate position where you're able to access your original library or a backup and then see recover your iTunes from your iPod or an iOS device to get tips on how to configure your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • How to open new tab without leaving an old using the wheel mouse

Until yesterday, I was able to click on a link using my wheel. It would open up a new tab without leaving the tab, in that I was. Now, when I click on the wheel, he left the former tab and going to the new. As if I had used my left button. I hope that I can return this option. It is very convenient.

Hi Vicky, you can check the setting in Options to make sure that it is what you want:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > tabs

Disable this box: "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately."

  • Satellite L300-110 - how to recover without losing any data on the HARD drive?

    Hi all
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L300-110

The question is how can I recover my laptop with the recovery DVD without losing all the data located in the hard drive?

I confirm the information published by Luke.
The HARD drive and all other partitions should be formatted using the recovery disk.
Why? The recovery disc sets the laptop to factory settings and to this end, the HARD drive must be formatted first.

That is why it s is strongly recommended to back up the data if you want to use the recovery disk.

  • How to reinstall windows without losing any data on the Satellite A100

    Hello everyone!
I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop and would like to reinstall Windows. The disc was divided into 2 parts. WinXp Home is installed on the first.

What happens with the data on the secondary disk if I use the recovery CD? It will be formatted?
And if this is the case, how can I reinstall winXP Home without losing the data on the second drive?

You can install the OS on the first partition only and all data saved on the second partition will not be deleted. To do this procedure of departure recovery and after choosing the language button tablecloth call SETUP. It is placed on the right side.

If I like what you must remember he chose the second option. The first one can be used when you want to create the new partition (DO NOT choose this one).

    Bye and good luck!

  • Is this possible in double database on another server without losing any data on the auxiliary database?

    Hi guys.

    I have following scenario

-i have a backup game compressed a database in NOARCHIVELOG mode.

-i want a database that has been duplicated on a server different but

without losing the data on the auxiliary database.

-the two server contains the same version of oracle 11g.

    -two servers UNIX/Linux then

s ' please reply to more info.

    DB version: 11.2.0.1

Name of the comic book source: has

Name of the comic in double: diferent Pentecost B file structure.

    Can someone help me please?

The target and duplicate database cannot have the same ID duplicate so is not what you need. If you have FOO database on a server and want to copy to FOO on server B, with a different file structure, then simply copy the RMAN backupsets to Server B, and restore the database by renaming the data files. There are many examples on the web.

  • New Mac, same disk external DRIVE for the library; does not see the files

I reconnected my iTunes library from a disk external DRIVE to my new computer, but iTunes does not recognize my files of the ALAC instead, he goes to the cloud and plays music from Apple things. How can I listen to my files? All the files are there, the library is intact; I changed the path in iTunes. Without result. He always plays with the cloud.

You do not change the path in iTunes.  Who does as it says which is tell iTunes where media files [new] store. You change the path you launch iTunes by holding down the option/alt key, while the application starts and then choose when prompted the iTunes Library.itl file in the iTunes folder you included if all goes well on the hard disk external.  If everything you have on the outside are media files, then you better head for your old computer fast and get the rest of the library there.  It's the rest of these files in the iTunes folder that make up the other half of the 'library' iTunes needs.

  • Catalog/Records/Collection panels self-aggrandizing ' collapse in the library module

    Lightroom 4.3, Mac OS X 10.7.5

Maybe I'm just crazy today, but working in the library module, I swear I used to open the panels of catalogues, folders and Collections at the same time. Now, for example, I clicked on the records. So, to display the Collections Panel, I need to click on the arrow to the left of "Collections". Then I do. And Collections, at the same time automatically opens collapse folders. If I click on the left arrow to publish Services, he collapses Collections and opened Services to publish. "Navigator" is the only Panel I can keep open while one of the other is open.

Does make sense? I accidentally press a key or spoil a preference or something? I just tried to move in a different catalog, and I've also updated to 4.3 (I was on the previous version, when I noticed this problem this morning) but the problem remains. Am I missing something really obvious?

Never mind. I just thought of it by looking at two issues. Apparently, there's something called "Solo Mode" that does this. How I accidentally activated, I don't know. To resolve this problem, you just right-click on any dark section of a Panel and uncheck the "solo mode" option in the dropdown menu drop-down. I use Lightroom for years, and I'm still discovering things I didn't know.

    Thank you!

  • I use two different versions of Firefox for two different employers - how to install the new version without losing an old?

An employer requires that I use Firefox 3. The other requires that I use the most recent version. How to install a new version of Firefox to another path without overwriting the old version?

The best way to have a version be an installation of Firefox Portable. The mobile facility is autonomous and will not affect your installation of Firefox "ordinary".

    http://PortableApps.com/apps/Internet/firefox_portable

Otherwise, you will need to set up a profile specifically for version 2 and make sure the correct profile is launched in each version.

    http://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/KB/managing+profiles

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Shortcut_to_a_specific_profile

Overall, you are probably best to replace your current version of Firefox 3.6.25 with Portable Apps - http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/localization#legacy36 - version and install Firefox 9.0.1 that your installation "regular".

  • ESX3i to ESX4i - new installation without losing VMs

    Hi people,

I was wondering if this was possible. I currently have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 that has a RAID1 arry for the boot to ESX3i partition and a RAID5 array for the VM data store. I am aware that I can do an upgrade, but I want to change the version of ESXi I use. We currently use the supplied VMware ESXi version and I want to implement the customized version of Dell that they do not have an upgrade pack for - from where the clean install.

My first thought is to save the virtual computer using VCB sinister only then format the RAID1 array and do a fresh install of custom version Dell ESX4i. I'll have the operational box pretty quickly as I cannot restore the backup of the VM sessions as the data store will already be there with all of the virtual machine and I just need to upgrade the tools on each virtual machine session and maybe the hardware version of the virtual machines.

My only concern with this is that I will definitely be able to see the data store on the table of RAID5 containing all my virtual machines. I prefer to host upgrade and lose customization of Dell to have to restore all virtual machines.

Thanks for any help or information that is provided.

    Rob

As long as you have no virtual machine actually on the table to start, I see no problem to install on the table to start, because it is separated from the data store VM (from what it looks like). You can use the removal options in the installer of u1 ESXi4 to wipe this table during the process, so no real don't need to get him out of the RAID Utility.

I'm in a similar configuration, with a dual drive RAID 1 array for ESXi4 u1 and another RAID 1 array (also two disks), where all my VM to the resident. I made a couple of clean installs on the ESXi table without impact to the VM data store. You just add the VM in vCenter/vSphere client configuration. If you have a vCenter Server, you'll want to create a new it there first, then do the installation of ESXi 4u1 on the host. If you're just going to use the vSphere client included, so you can jump on this part.  Or you can install a more later if you get the license for one.

Catalogs will be converted automatically when you start the new version and choose to do. For anything more ask in the forum PES. I don't know if there are specific warnings for current versions.
