Settings in Windows 7 and Office / settings in Windows XP

In Windows XP, I was able to change the sizes of fonts and colors for all windows. In Windows 7 and Office 2010, available options appear to be lower, for example Outlook allows only one of the 3 default themes and none of them offer a contrast of colors or the abi9lity to change the font size - I am not referring to the size of the font in an e-mail message (which can be increased by increasing the value of percentage for display) , but on the list of received messages. I know that the magnifying glass can be used, but makes just pieces of the larger screen. I would like to improve the color contrast to make it easier to read and to increase the font size in the Outlook window - change display size affects only the desktop icons and they are not a problem. I know it's possible to downgrade the resolution of the screen but them, everything is very big. It seems to be a method to refine the way in which windows appear, and it is a disappointment, as was possible in XP. Even having a method to change the color for all windows options help that would improve clarity (better contrast between the background and text).

If someone has found a way to refine the color of windows and font size options or find a way to use something other than the default values for Microsoft for Outlook which they can share?

  • Information about 8.1 of Windows and office 365.

I currently use Windows XP [licensed Version] with Office 2003 and joined Microsoft. Due to the news coming from Microsoft, now I intend to buy the 8.1 of Windows and Office 365.  How can I identify the version gave me is the real 8.1 Windows instead of Windows 8.  What is the capacity of the equipment required for the loading of the above mentioned software?  My current computer is purchased in 2006, which is the brand. Please notify.

If your computer came with Windows XP, you may not have the drivers from the manufacturer in support of Windows 8.  But it is worth the visit.

Here is a good resource, Microsoft has created to guide you.  Go to http://www.amirunningxp.com/ on your Windows XP computer.  It will give you guidelines for upgrading to Windows 8.1 and offers an "Advisor update Windows" that will scan your system and say whether the upgrade will work for you.

  • Windows XP and Office 2003?

I took my PC repair and now I have Windows XP and Office 2003 on my computer. Should I have them both? Something sure ' nuf slowed down my computer. I paid almost as much to repair I did for my PC. It came loaded with XP.  Thank you very much for your help!

Microsoft Office, including "Office 2003"is a previous version, is a 'suite' or a collection of programs, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, etc.

If you delete "Office 2003", you'll remove all of these programs... that you may or may not care.

You are interested in the creation of documents (paper) or reading documents created by others? If so, you'll probably want to keep your Word.

You care no doubt on the use of sheets (Excel) spreadsheet or presentations (Powerpoint), but again, it is to you.

A potential problem is your email.  One of the programs included in Microsoft Office 2003 is "Outlook 2003", which is an e-mail program that you can or cannot use.  If you are using Outlook 2003 for your e-mail, you will be no longer able to do so, if you completely remove Office 2003.

If you were my grandmother, I would say that you do nothing unless your computer is low on hard disk space: click on 'My computer' and when it opens up, do a right click on 'disk Local (c)' and select Properties; "as long as the 'free space' (shown in magenta) is more that about 15% of the 'ability', you have nothing to worry about).

If you see a screen like this, I would say also that you have BOTH boxes down achecked and then click on the OK button (it will speed up your computer a bit and also free up disk space).  Whatever you do, DO NOT CHECK the box compress things.

  • Run Windows, classic VB and Office from a USB?

I have an old computer with a noisy hard drive. Rather than replace the hard drive, I wonder if I can just install a version of Windows, VB 6.0 (classic), and Word and Excel 2000 on a thumb drive and run from there.

Everything I do with it runs a simple VB program that opens and focuses on Word and Excel files. Everything works fine now - except for the horrible groan in the hard drive.

I have discs for Win 98SE, 2000 and XP. (VB and office, too, of course.) Will one of these boot OSs and run Office and VB from a USB?

    Ed

Here's the thing, Ed. Although it is possible to run XP on a USB key in some cases, it's probably not worth. For more information, read this article:

    http://articles.TechRepublic.com.com/5100-22_11-5928902.html

So that it works, not only do you need to use the right type of USB, but also your PC must support booting from a flash drive. And given that your PC is old, I doubt that.

If the PC is perhaps old, you can simply buy a new one; they are very affordable. Or you can replace the hard drive. You can physically remove in order to identify it (or use the Device Manager). Then Google to determine a suitable replacement. Newegg is a good source for hard disks.

  • Im running windows vista and office 2007. Many of my files are not open and I get the message "application not found" How can I reapir this?

I recently had my computer repaired and Office 2007 has been reloaded. Now I get the message "not found when I try to open some files and application for a single file, «windows cannot find the file...»» ».

If I change the name of the folder, some files were opened.

In one case, the file opened under the new name [I added a letter], then later not open again - got the same message "application not found" and the Red Cross of death.

    Hi Martin,

How you try to open the file? You are double clicking on the icon of the file to open or by using the menu file-> the option open in the application to open the file?

The question is limited to Microsoft Office applications?

  • Windows Virtual PC will allow me to use Office 2007 and Office 2002/2003 on the same PC without problems?

I have Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit) installed with Office 2007. New machine. However, I am a trainer/support specialist and many of my clients have XP Microsoft Office 2002/2003, and I need to provide support. It would be much easier if I had XP and Office 2002/2003, but I know that Microsoft does not recommend the 2 versions on 1 PC. Windows Virtual PC is the solution?

Yes, that might work.  You can install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode, and then install Office 2002/2003 in the Virtual PC in Windows XP.  You can then run the Office 2002/2003 programs in Virtual PC, or close the Virtual PC and run them in Windows 7 from all programs > Windows Virtual PC > Windows XP Mode Applications .  You can even have Office 2007 programs and 2002/2003 open at the same time in Windows 7. • Windows 7 starts questions about mac and office 2010 following an installation

It's a long cut as short as vent. I've been miss sold a record of upgrade of windows 8 full disk-shaped, with norton and office 2010. My goal of creating windows on my mac for a course I'm taking. After that know I need windows 7, I bought it online. I created a partition of 80g on my mac charge windows 7, then norton. Until I loaded the office that I was invited to perform the update from apple in the windows software 7. Note before I installed norton, I load boot camp mac utilities according to the instructions. So, followed by all as should be. The prompt update from apple was quick time, iTunes and airport, I checked all and then updated. Then I loaded office 2010 and obtained throughout the process from the Microsoft site. On the last part of the installation, the installation failed due to a mistake of hanging iTunes. I tried again and again, I fixed the update to iTunes to add and remove the section of windows. Then, I got different errors. I decided to remove the whole score without uninstalling all programs again. When I get to the windows live, that this falls priming. I get various error messages whenever I try to start the process. As a header of Bank pool, fatal error and so on. Can anyone help? What is the damage?
