I have created a slideshow using Photos app. I wish that the images will appear randomly (as they can in Power Point), but I don't see where in the settings that allows this. Any thoughts?

There is no option in Photos for MAc that allows you to randomly pull a slide show.

You can create an album and have the album as an instant slide show in a random order using an Apple Script.

  • iMac Photo app smart album settings files: stored in this directory?

    Nobody knows...

On the iMac, in which directory is 'photo app Smart Album settings files' stored?

I am running OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.4

All photos, records, albums etc are stored in the photo library. Are NOT, repeat DO NOT mess with this file, unless you want to make a mess of your photos. Should be changed in the Photo app. Maybe if you tell what you are trying to reach so someone can point you in the right direction. There is also a Photos for Mac forum, you can post here, this is where the Photos for the Mac experts hang out.

  • Why the iPhone 6plus will not open photos app on mac pro for IOS 10 update.

Why the iPhone 6plus will not open photos app on mac pro for IOS 10 update.
A message appears on the iphone asks you to trust the computer it is attached (mac pro 10.10.5)

You type 'Confidence' and nothing happens. the photos on mac app publishes this message.

This Mac not yet have been granted access to the media on 'my iPhone '. To import media to this Mac, press 'Trust' on 'my iPhone '. You must first unlock the device.

This actually solved for me after going to settings, General, reset, reset the location and privacy... and then plug in the unit and pressing the trust... hope that works for others.

  • Although I disabled the photo library and deleted the photos on my iPad 2, photos app resumes still 1.3 GB. What's wrong? I need this space.

Check if you have some deleted photos left by a bug that prevented some deleted items of aging out:

    1. go in settings > general > Date & time, turn off automatically game and change the date to 9/1/3013

    2. go to the Photos App and see if you see a folder deleted recently - if so, click on it to see if there are pictures here and if so, select all and delete them permanently

    3. go to settings > general > Date & time, put the value automatically come back on

    Good luck

  • Photos app begins when the iPhone plugged into iMac?

Whenever I connect my iPhone to my iMac the Photos app starts.

Is there some setting somewhere to prevent this?

    Thank you

    -Mike

P.S. I use the latest operating systems on all my devices (El Capitan and iOS). I looked in the settings in the Photos on my iMac, my iPhone, iTunes, etc. but have not yet seen anything to change this behavior. I guess I just missed it somewhere.

Fix the iPhone. When photo is open, select iPhone in the sidebar and uncheck the box at the top.

  • No network available Photos App

I have the last 4 AppleTV with all available updates and when I access the Photos app is says "no network available, check your internet connection and try again. If the problem persists, contact Apple support. "All applications in the Apple TV 4 work very well and it is good internet signal.  What do you think is the problem?

You can check the settings under accounts-> iCloud and check that your iCloud Apple ID and password are correct.

  • Many Photos app issues still to be resolved...

I had no trouble since the update to El Capitan with my Photos app interacting with my iPhone and my wife.  Currently on 10.11.3.

    1. iPhones (the two 5s on 9.3.1) are extremely reliable with connection

    2. often, the connection cable simply makes the phone go 'bing' and nothing happens - import window does not appear in the Photos, and Capture of Image is not a connected phone.   (The cable is confirmed well with other applications, transfers and power).

    3. If one of the phones show ever as connected - it always just says 'No pictures'

    2. If ever I can get phones to appear and show some pictures, which seems to be something random and infrequent, very few of the photos or videos that are actually on the phone display.   No photos or videos taken on phones that are prior to the upgrade of the El Capitan will be always visible, and so I can't find a way to get the phone is off.   (I can't use iCloud library in pictures because I have 65 GB of photos in the database).

Can anyone help go to the bottom of the mess became Photos?   I absolutely hate this app since the switch to iPhoto.

    3. If one of the phones show ever as connected - it always just says 'No pictures'

(I can't use iCloud library in pictures because I have 65 GB of photos in the database).

The iPhone stating ' no. ' or only a few photos at random is very typical of a situation, where iCloud photo library has been enabled on the iPhone, even if it has not been enabled on your Mac.  Have you checked if iCloud library has accidentally been activated on your iPhone in "settings > Photos & camera" or settings > iCloud?

ITunes does it show your iPhone connected or not appear in iTunes either?

  • Photos app works is not after updating to ios 9.2

Everyone is having a problem with their Photos app after the update of the 9.2? I took a bunch of photos and videos today and now the app photo shows what I took yesterday only and says 'restore '.

I have the iPhone 6 more than 128 GB

I also had this problem.  I spoke with the support of Apple which suggested the first backup to my iPhone (if the backup on iCloud, then: settings > iCloud > backup), resetting back to factory (settings > General > reset > erase all content and settings) and then restore the backup phone.  This solves the problem app camera and photos for me. Good luck!

  • Photo app does not.

    1. App doesn't show photos, saying rather that the library is empty.
    2. In the photo app, I can't create a new folder. The app gives me the message: "sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. »
    3. In Internet Explorer, I can't save a photo in the photo folder.
    4. Direct tiling in the Photo App only displays photos taken with the built in camera. These images do not appear in the actual application.

I tried to change the indexing settings, nothing helped. All the settings seem to be good.

    Everyone I have a problem / have a solution?

    Thank you.

    Hi Jordan,.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to see that the problem still persists.

What happens when you try to record images of Internet Explorer?

The question could be corrupted app Photo or the settings in the app.

  • Photos from D: drive not showing is not Up in Photos App

I have 2 sites set up in my library of images.  C:\Pictures and D:\Pictures.  All the pictures I have put in the directory C:\Pictures immediately appear in the new Photos app.  However the photos on my drive D: not will appear in the same Photos app if the folder are in are included in my library of images.   I had actually just a live remote session with Microsoft Support and I was told that it is a limitation of windows 8, which will appear only images located on the C: drive in the Photos app.

It's * really * the case?  I have a very small SSD drive that I use for installed applications.  All data such as photos, videos and documents are stored on my drive D: (terrabyte), so this means basically I can't use new applications of Photos or videos?

    Hi Boscarelli,

Yes, the content on the drive can be moved to a folder in the picture library. Given that you do not want to be able to access an external drive using the photo app, use your comments to submit your suggestion.

    1. Open the photo app
    2. Press the Windows key + C
    3. Select settings
    4. Select your comments
    5. Select I want to suggest a way to do something better
    6. Select Next
    7. Add your comment
    8. Select submit
Well, it is not an external drive.  The drive D:\ is an internal hard drive connected via SATA.   In windows 7, I had moved my personal files on the disk D:\Pictures.  So when the folder navigation D:\Pictures actually appear in Explorer as my images since it is the default image library folder.

I have moved all content of D:\Pictures to D:\TestPictures and added the file TestPictures to the photo library, and now my pictures are appearing in the Photos app.  They did not immediately so I guess that they do not show up until the files have been indexed.
So the D:\Pictures folder was not indexed (he was reported to BE indexed for several days) or windows 8 has been confused by move me my personal folders on windows 7 to a new directory and moving them to D:\TestPictures solved the problem.
    Thanks for your reply though!

    * Edit * it's silly that I can't close my own post or mark my answer as the answer!

  • My photos and videos are not in chronological order, when I export the Photos app

Hello. When I export my photos and videos from the Photos app on my iMac all the photos and videos are not in order. I need all the photos in good standing - I need to export about 5 000 pictures of the application in order for a meeting next week! Help, please!

    Ethan.

This is not photo - it is a function of the viewing program (probably the finder) - once the photos are exprted form pictures you can see then in different ways which you control, Photos does not - by the finder you can view by name of son, byt several dates, by file size, etc.

Usually, the best way to accomplish what you want is to export using the names of batch file numbeing and then sort by file name in the program viewing
