Setup.exe disappearing - cannot install Dreamweaver

OS - Vista Ultimate 32 bit:

I know that this has been discussed for some time. There is a problem with the installer for CS3 (in all products, it seems).
In any case, I bought both Dreamweaver and Fireworks CS3. I had been using the trial versions, but completely uninstalled them and cleaned up my registry post uninstall.

When I try to install the purchased version, the initial installation screen load from the CD (DVD), I click on install, a small dialog box appears sayng "Initializing of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3" then disappears. No error message, no installation, no running, it stops and the installation continues.

I found this thread in the forums - http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?14@@.3bc3b755/58
who has considered this question. I tried all the difficulties, they suggested, save a .dll file, change a javascript file, re-installation of Sun Java runtime and so on. However, I can not install these 2 programs that I just paid a few hundred dollars!
After reading the thread, it seems that support Adobe said people to re - install their operating system. You got to be kidding!

Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? I can't believe there is a bug in their installation routine that prevents you from installing the software. Link

I fixed it. This tech article added:

A ran uninstall Adobe Flash. A ran the Windows Installer Cleanup utility. Run the utility of Adobe cleanup script using option 3 (Note: this is not a choice when running the utility, but you can enter anyway).

Installed Dreamweaver then OK. http://KB.Adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402426&sliceId=1

  • Cannot install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  Setup error

I can't install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  I get a vague error that says: Setup error, sontact Adobe customer service. Customer service Adobe refuses to help me.  That really bothers me.

First of all, I want to thank the people who have responded to my message.  I am impressed by your desire to help and interest to my problem of extreemly.  Thank you very much! I appreciate it.

I've not seen a way to get a transcript of my cat.  I should have it printed at the end of my cat. Overall, I think my concerns are with Windows itself and also how Adobe as a company manages a call from someone who gets a Setup error that says "call Adobe customer service. I bought this program runs on Windows 7 and I'm installing on a Windows 7 computer. I think that if Adobe will give a vague error message and tell you to contact them, they should give me more help "your product is too old, good luck on the forums. I could see if I call and ask him how to do something, maybe that my product is too old for this, but I think their reaction was unacceptable.  I hope that enough other people are complaining so that Adobe changed this policy.

Wow, it took a lot of time to deal with. I guess it's mainly a Windows file permissions problem, but I think that Adobe should a property for a client to have to spend many HOURS trying to install their program on the operating system original they bought the program for.

Certainly, I don't like the way Adobe Dreamweaver Setup treats errors. Here are the facts as I know them.

When Setup fails during installation, installation subsequesnt would fail, but it would give a VERY cryptic error indicating that the installation has failed and I need to contact Adobe customer service.

In order to re - install, I had to uninstall.  Naturally my UN-installs failed every time, too. After much trial and error and audit of the forumns, I found installation of program under c:\programs files. I deleted them, rebooted, uninstalled with no error.  Then I could re - install without the vague error "contact Adobe customer service.  Note that I had to reinstall several times to get to the bottom of the problem installation so it takes too much time to understand.

In the end, I had to manually delete the C:\Windows\Installer to get Dreamweaver to install.  It took a lot of time to understand, too.  It is always installed with errors, but he says that Dreamweaver would work with limited functionality. So far, it's good enough for me and I'm tired of non-billable expenses on that.

Following is one of the main erros I've had when you first install failed.  IF ANYONE KNOWS EXACTLY WHY MY INSTALLATION NO WAS NOT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.  IT SEEMS THAT IT IS NOT HAVE THE OPERATING SYSTEM PERMISSIONS TO ACCESS THESE FILES, BUT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT THE PROGRAM IS INSTALLED AS AN ADMINISTRATOR. Any thoughts?

Thanks again to all who helped!

  • Cannot install Dreamweaver CS6 on my Mac Book Air. DW050 Language Pack Installation failure error.

I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS6 on my Mac Book Air. I tried everything, but he returned with "ERROR: DW050:-Adobe Dreamweaver CS6: due to a lack of Language Pack installation.» No matter what I do, I can't get beyond this problem. I already have CS6 on my main computer and I wanted to install it on my new laptop. I can't find any information anywhere on how to overcome this problem.

I fixed it! I closed everything that was running on my computer (Safari, etc.). I checked the applications folder and saw that there was (somehow) already an icon CS6. I put it in the trash. I then double clicked on CS6 in the downloads folder, open the installation program and this time it worked. Finally! I tried to do yesterday.

  • Cannot install my Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe looks dead.

I can't install my Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe file appears dead. The CD sounds great.

I reinstalled a new version of Win. XP Pro Sp3 and it wiped out many of my programs, so I have been re - install. Of course, I lost the registry and have to build a new by reinstalling my programs. But my Photoshop 7 CD seems to have a dead setup.exe file and he won't answer as before. I tried everything including turning off virus program. I don't know what else to do. Maybe I need a new setup.exe file but I have no idea where I might get one.

Yes, I have a registered product. Can someone help me?

    Thank you, Judi

Thanks a lot for your suggestion R_Kelly.

Yes, I had tried to copy the contents of the Setup disk to both my external Seagate drive and the right on the C: drive, itself, but without success.

But I just live a miracle and installed like butter - to my total surprise.  I will share my experience in case where someone Vienna with a similar problem and maybe help them my situation.

When I installed the "rescue disk" to replace my whole OS on my laptop, technicians had given me a choice in the options that I didn't really know how to choose, and I've been an IT professional at the end of the 1990s. That's where I got in trouble. What I wanted to do, it was just to crush my Windows XP Pro SP3, as we do in the 'old days' when computers were free and not all the owners. When I chose to remove the current Windows partition to make room for the new facility, apparently she also deleted the registry and my computer had no knowledge of the programs I had installed and I had to reinstall just about everything.   I thought I was okay with that.

Finalizing the installation of the new Windows OS, I was asked to give my computer a 'name '.  Well, I do remember that I never gave a name before and there was no place for me to go to discover. So, I gave her a name 'JudiLenova '.  When I couldn't have my programs to run, I thought that maybe I had lost not only my registry file, but maybe some ini files I had left do not recognize this name, so I changed it to "Judi", still don't not Recalling that, if necessary, the name I had given him before.  As I met problems with trying to install Photoshop, I watched my systems directories and saw that there was equal files in two different ways, one for each name. I was wondering if perhaps BACK, which cannot make decisions, could not decide which way was the right one to find files, I needed. Of course, I wish not to use the option "repair" on the hot spare, but it was too late. I need this computer to use all the tools I have installed on it.

I bought a program powerful fixit recommended by CNET to fix things and he has found more than 1400 problems but still nothing solved this problem.

One thing I noticed is that sometimes when I do a restart of the computer, Windows Installer suddenly would show complete installation of Photoshop, but then he'd stop initialization because of the recovery. (So close and yet so far!)  I knew that the old system was over and stupidly I had deleted the full backup that I had stored on the Seagate, then I looked at the option 'restore' to see what thresholds it was to see if maybe I could go back to a bygone era. The only restore point, that I had was for the day that I had installed the hot spare. I said "what the heck" and opted to make it back. When I made this choice, I received the message that the major change would be that the name of the computer would change "Judi" to "JudiLenova."  I thought it might solve some of my problem. Surprisingly, it seems to have solved the problem of Photoshop because I put the disc in my drive D: and wide, she went without a hitch!

My hunch is that BACK could not find the Install Shield to activate the installation. Whatever the cause of the miracle, I am grateful that I didn't not throw my computer in the Lake outside my window... but of course, it was tempting.

Thanks again for your attempts to rescue me. I hope this helps the guy next door happens.  Now, I'll try to install the rest of my beloved old programs Adobe and everything.   Fingers crossed!

    Judi :-)
