Shadow masking

I created an object with a shadow. I want to hide this object, but the shadow remains on the mask. How can I hide the object AND its drop shadow without a drop shadow on the mask?

OK, now I get it. Yes, this does work Alex.

    Hello

I created the image belowand then ab two letters with a drop shadow. I want the two letters to be behind the blue part so that only the top shows.

I added a mask layer and then used the marquee on the occasion of the region and the Brush tool to remove the lower area of the letter.

Everything seems well outside the part of the drop shadow remains and it seems unable to hide/remove itheader_front1.jpg

Discover ships with ADM templates to the Group Policy Editor, which affects many parameters, including the shadow masking/disabling (spoken in the deployment guide, found here: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/resources/vmware-view-xp-deployment-guide.pdf). You could probably look at ADM templates to find the exact keys. Another thread, http://communities.vmware.com/thread/205121, speaks also where are these keys. • A shadow scope-missing 'layer mask hides effects' of discoloration in CS5

I'm using CS5.  I want to create a shadow of discoloration on a form/box. See the image attached below.

    In Photoshop, it's easy by:

    (1) create a form
    (2) add the layer mask to the shape layer
    3) click on gradient, gradient to increase the value and the value gradient color black white
    (4) gradient drag where you want on the form.  The shadow will bleed actually through the form and not only on the edges, which is not wanted.
    (5) open the layer styles, under Merge Options, select mask the layer mask effects and it will get rid of the shadow appears in the middle of the form and you'll end up with drop shadow perfect, faded around the edges (see below for finished product).

Fireworks is missing from step 5.  There is no blending Options and there is no effect of mask mask layer.   Or if there is, I have not found. I'm using CS5.  Any ideas how to do this in Fireworks?

Clone of the form. Change the color of the clone of gray, and in the properties panel, change its type of edge to the pen.  With the clone still selected, choose commands > Creative > Auto vector mask. Select the type of mask down, left by clicking on its image and then apply it. In the layers panel, click the new group of mask to select. Click on the subject of black mask on the right of the two objects related to operate the gradient adjustment handle. Shorten and rotate the gradient until you get the desired effect.

  • Script to create a shadow over each layer mask layer in my document

I tried to find out how this script, but I'm really new script and he couldn't understand. I would like to a script that would create a layer clipping above all layers mask in the document. So, it would create a empty new layer above each existing layer, rename the new layer based on the layer it's on top of + a suffix and apply a clipping for new layers mask.

So, if I had a PSD file with the following layers:

    Layer has

    Layer B

    Layer C

the layers that results would be:

    Layer A_clip

    Layer has

    Layer B_clip

    Layer B

    Layer C_clip

    Layer C

  • Shadow left after the use of masks.

Lately when I used a mask (in Photoshop CS6), it leaves a slight impression of the original image that I'm trying to 'clear '. My opacity is 100%, I do not use blend modes and effects at all. No idea why this is happening? Thank you.

    100% opacity

Make sure that the flow is set to 100% as well. Also, make sure that you paint with true black: R - 0, G-0, B-0 and not 100% K in CMYK.

  • How can I add a shadow in my images

    Hello

Can someone help me how can I add a shadow on this photo?

    Thanks in advance!

Don't know what it is exactly, but usually you can do this with the fuzzy combination/masking, something like that:

Here image separated from the background, and then filtered with a Low Pass (7 x 7), result hidden, then again filtered with small core for anti-aliasing, then simply added with the original image. You can use VI attached as departure (IMAQ Vision required).

  • Select, copy and paste layer masks

    Hello

I am a beginner when it comes to Photoshop, so my vocabulary can be a little off. I'll try my best to explain my situation. Let me know if I do not make sense, or if you need more details.

I have problems using a mask to create a selection that I can then use to paste a background image in an another PSD. I have isolated the part of the image that I want to select using a layer mask successfully, but when I try to copy/paste from an another PSD, the image appears as the "shadow" or the black silhouette that I used for the background of the original PSD image through the mask.

It is logical that this is happening because I select the mask which is only a black outline of the image I wanted to show through the second layer. But I saw on a tutorial that someone could "turn the mask in a selection that appears around the mask, so that you can then cut out the object and paste it into a different environment."

Here is the reference. It is the last two images in the tutorial:

    Using layers with Photoshop masks

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

To load the mask as a selection:

Hold down the CTRL key and click on the mask, now, the selection will be charged.

Then click on the thumbnail of the layer (NOT on the mask) and copy or cut the layer for any other destination

  • Need HELP to get this shadow effect

    Hi all

I need your advice. Sorry I don't know the name of this effect below therefore the scene I need help

A man holds a flashlight illuminating a girl in the front (she is a bit away from him in an open field), now the shadow of another person walks between the torch and the girl. The shadow is being cast from left to the right end of the frame, falling on the girl, too, as it moves.

How to achieve this effect in the aftermath.

It may or may not be a question of amateur, but any help would be so useful.

    Please notify

It is now much clearer. you need advice VFX before your shoot. You must have a shadow without the man, be there. I think you can go 2-way with this: shoot twice the place or go to the green screen approach. each with its own complexity and the advantages and disadvantages. I will describe the basic principles:

    Approach to location

If you want to try to do on-site, you can:

    1. turn your scene with the man and shadow

    2. pull on the same stage without human and shadow

3 mask man with the rotoscoping and tracking

This might work if you have no movement in your scene. or if you have motion control of drilling that will exactly twice the same movement.

    The green screen approach

your question - if you can touch a person out and make him a shadow on the floor - YES. It's the way I'm going to try to do - it's called a Shadow Catcher - a layer that only accepts your shadow. This might work with or without movement of the camera.

Let's say you have this guy on green screen

and you want to just its shadow on the background against

    Here are the steps:

1 make the guy (layer locked) 3D and add a corresponding upstairs floor * in the actual shooting.

floor - add you a solid, it make 3D, add the effect of grid and position it accordingly with a camera of 2 knot like that of setting

    2. Add a layer of light points and set the shadow, set the images captured in the shade and the soil layer to accept shadow - only and adjust the light

    Now you have this:

    3. check that everything is OK, now define the images captured in shadow - only

Now you have just the shadow. You can adjust it to your taste with the darkness of the shadow and the diffusion in the properties of light spots

    Rebuild from scratch wood.

Make a new layer and set the foreground and background colors, the darker and lighter colors in the Woods respectively.

Make a rectangular selection a good bit larger than boards of the fence that you want to replace, but it Orient vertically.

Fill the selection with a color.

Go filter > make > fibre. Looking for a wood grain that matches the closing, so if you don't get it, you can keep hitting Ctrl f to repeat fibre made, or to adjust the foreground/background colors.  You need not to do exact.

Use the free transform to rotate the layer and and size of the cover of one of the boards.

Copy the layer and layer the other two boards.

Group layers of three boards, then add a layer mask to the end and usually form to match the scene.

Make the group a dynamic object (because it's easier to work on them as a single object).

Sharpen to exaggerate the grain and cut a curves layer to match the tonal value of underlying boards.

BTW, if your texture of wood is not enough dark after make fibers

Duplicate the layer, turn it 180 ° and set the blending mode to darken.

    Nick

I'm still not clear about what you are trying to achieve because there is nothing red in your illustration. But what rcraighead said, I guess that great shape selected in your screenshot is the object that you want to use as your mask and that you want to fill with red and you want to be able to see through the mask to the illustration of the book...

You'll need duplicate large form and make sure that it is on top of all your other items. Follow the instructions in rcrighead. If you do not want the shadow to be filled with red, do not reproduce them; just put on top.
