Sharing subfolders in a main folder at once

With the help of Windows 7 edition 64-bit family. I have a folder main dave / my music. Inside this folder are several folders containing MP3 music. I tried to share the main folder, dave / my music to my home group so that I could listen to all the music to the breast through Win Media Player to my smart TV. It won't let me. I get a message saying cannot be shared. I'm guessing it's because as the most out of the separate files in lateral dave / my music have not been defined to share. Some have and I see these in Media Player and stream to my smart TV (he has a sound bar and gives a very high-fidelity sound btw).

Is there a way to make all files inside dave sub / my music that is shareable in a single operation? If I have to go through each file sub give permission to share it will take me forever!

Appreciate help with this. Thank you, Dave.

Thanks for your replies guys. Some of the terms you used has led me to search for other semi related community Q and and got it to work.

I opened the folder parent to display all child folders. In a white box I click right and select Customize this folder and set up their share. Now on my smart TV, I see the music album experimental mp3 as "recently added". Listening to now (wireless) as I type!

See you soon.

  • How can I extract the files in the subfolders in the main folder quickly?

    Hello!
I have a problem with the files.
I have a DVD with one main folder that contains 26 subfolders. Each subfolder contains 25 numbered documents up to 025 001.
I need all these documents of all 26 cases out of these records and be together in the main folder.
I now do it manually, by copy paste all 25 docs out of each subfolder in the main folder, but I think that there must be a more efficient way.
As much as I do for 50 DVD...
I hope someone can help me with this!
    Thank you!

Here is the method I would use, because I'm super nerd:

    1 - Open the main top-level folder.
    2. in the search box, type a single asterisk (*) which will cause all files that point downwards (in subfolders) is displayed in the results of research, regardless of the folder they are in.
    3. drag all files in search results in their new home.
You can also filter by file type.  To copy only word documents, simply type .doc in the search box.
  • Merge several files in many subfolders in a single folder tree

I have several sets of records, each with several subfolders, trees each subfolder that contains several files. I would like to merge all this into a single folder tree, maintaining the same subfolder structure and each subfolder containing a single set of files, eliminating all inevitable duplicates of the merger.

Do this manually with Windows Explorer, it is painful and long. I have to select all the files in any subfolders, and then drag the selection to the subfolder in the main folder tree, choose 'move and replace' and check "do the same for the next x conflicts and repeat this process for each of the many secondary issues."

Although I did an online search before posting this call for assistance, I have saw that of the utilities that will merge all files into multiple files in a single folder, I saw not a utility that will do what I need.

I hope that someone will know of a utility that will allow me to win this manually for the next years!

    Thank you in advance.

The solution proved to be easier than I thought.

Rather that you select all of the files in each folder separately, which was painful and long, I chose each tree at once, and Windows Explorer did the rest, as it did before.

  • Rerouting main folder LR...

.. .so I initially made the mistake of letting LR choose the main folder location.  Now, I want to redirect the program to an external drive which is no problem of storage.  So far, that I exported (as a catalogue) all relevant data on the new drive... There lies in "My Lightroom" and as such is not detected by LR in its current state.  I have not deleted the original files on my C drive, frankly I'm chicken... can't seem to find the magic bullet to redirect.  I hope that this forum will provide the info that I need!

There is no "waste" If you do file-> open catalog and it point to the newly created catalog file. Lightroom doesn't care that the old one exists.

The danger is that you (the human operator of Lightroom) go back (probably by accident) of a catalog to another and suddenly realize that changes made in a catalog are not available in the other. So as a protective measure, once you are sure that the catalog you choose to use works properly, I would either remove (or zip) another.

But... which still leaves copies of your photos (one on the C: drive and an external hard disk). And that is a major, you probably know, but I forget anyway because it is so important. You must have backups of your photos and your catalog files.  Do you have? If you delete the copies of the C: drive, you will have only one copy of everything? You need two copies, on different physical drives.  If you do not have two copies on different physical disks, and your drive breaks down (which it certainly will at some point in the future), you now have zero copies of everything, and it's not good. A Word to the wise and stuff...

Hell, why not uninstall and reinstall after cleaning the drive C?

If you want to do extra work that gives no advantage, go!

  • What is the file deleted the files in the main folder, and can / should I remove it?

What is the file deleted the files in the main folder, and can / should I remove it? Is it too much room, I could use?

This file stores a list of files from previous version of Firefox that are no longer needed or supported in the current version of Firefox. This file is only a few KB and it is best not to delete files in the Firefox program folder to avoid update problems. If the required files are missing or modified with a update Firefox will download the full version (approximately 10 MB) instead of a small incremental update which is usually only a few hundred KB.

  • When I add a new file in a subfolder (folder in a folder) by using Solution Explorer, the 'date modified' in the subfolder is updated, however the "modification date" in the main folder is not changed.

Is it possible to have the update of the main folder his "change date" when I change the contents of a subfolder?  I use VISTA.

I don't know how to program so if you have a solution, I need step by step instructions.

Thank you very much for your help.

Furthermore, the parent folder (and her mother and so on) are not changed when the contents of a grandchild (or below) is updated, so their timestamp will not change.

  • How warns we point subfolder/content that has a different group to be created in the main folder security

    Hi all

I'm quite new with OWCC and I use UCM. I've been created 1 main folder which a 'Marketing' security group. Now I want to test by creating another content element and subfolder that have 'HR' security group and place it inside this main folder (folder marketing security group). I was wondering why I can do. Why there is no show message box that this activity cannot proceed because of differences in security group. If I want to ban the folder to be created in another folder that has the group different security , where should I put it?  I really feel confused...

I thought that the security group will control this kind of scenario. If this is not the case, what metadata actually control it?

    Very grateful for your help.

The reasons are clear enough. Imagine that you have two categories of documents: one for marketing and other marketing management. The latter is a subset of the former, so often that the MKTG MGMT folder will be nested under the MKTG (taxonomy), but the same time be accessible only to those authorized to read (at least) the MKTG MGMT documents (security).

Security groups are independent.  If you want a hierarchical structure, use accounts.

Only accounts work the other way around - you might have MKTG and MKTG/PUBLIC accounts, but this time MKTG/PUBLIC is a subset of MKTG (i.e. a user with permissions for MKTG/PUBLIC will not access the docs MKTG).

    b. go to the view tab, click Options.
    c. click change the folder and Search Options and go to the view tab.

  • Install more than one exe to a folder or in subfolders of the same folder

    Hello!
I want to do at least one of the following conditions:

    1. I want to install several exes (built with LV app builder) in a directory because they go hand in hand.
    2. make several subfolders under the same top-level folder EAT install exe in each of them.

(Upper level) should be the folder of "society". The subfolders are for applications.
    For example:
    c:\company\app1\app1.exe
    c:\company\app1\app1setup.exe
    c:\company\app2\app2.exe
    etc.
This can also be in the folder "program files".

If I try to do, I have a few problems of implementation of the construction specifications. If I have more than one generation standard for the exe I can't add in the same folder. At least if they contain the same external files, such as DLLs.
If I try to do by exe installer, I get an error message telling me that the same folder (my "upper tier") already exist in the registry and cannot be added again. This is also true if I try to do a new project instead of having to install several specifications in a project to build.

I use Labview 2009 (engl.) Windows Vista (in German).

If someone has a help for me or similar encounters problems please let me know.

    Holger

    Ok

for the records: I found out what was the problem (and the solution).

Both my needed apps the same external DLL. While this should be no problem it caused the new Builder installer/app and me the headaches. The new app Builder seems to build its internal paths in the registry. If you select more than one target of generation 'exe', he gets into trouble if more than one using a subdirectory 'data' with the same DLL and each subdirectory using the name of 'data' of sugested.

The solution is simple: just give each target generation "exe" a subdirectory 'data' different like data1, data2 etc. and the problems disappear.

  • Can I delete my folder structure and put all my files in a main folder

    Hello

I would like to remove a complicated production structure and pull it all in a single folder for now.  So instead of going to the folder documents/file/1 has / folder I etc... I just simply go to the documents.

It would take too long to do it by going into each folder and move the files, all the shortcuts would be much appreciated!

    Thank you

I just tried with the document library. Using the Details view andinclude subfolders... selected in tools > Folder Options > search in the search box type

    * type:(NOT folder)

This should lead to a list of all the files in the Documents. Then press Ctrl + A to select all to where you want to cut or copy. I copy into a new empty folder under My Documents before deleting anything. If you have the Type column is visible, you can see certain types of file - shortcuts, for example - that you're not particularly interested in cluttering your new simplified with folder. When you are quite sure this is what you want to do, you can delete everything in My Documents , save the new file, and then move that content to a higher level.

  • "C:\Users" folder is shared when you share a folder in the directory?

So everyone seems familiar with this problem, but has anyone seen an answer yet?  I've been whinging about it since the launch of Vista, but I am yet to see a resolution that does not involve a work around.  I was surprised to start seven RC and find the same question he still had.

I'll reiterate for those who want clarification (and warning)...

If you share a folder in the C:\Users directory, the displayed share will be the folder C:\Users (through which you will need to browse to find the folder you shared ACTUALLY).

Not only is this a major security design flaw, it represents also reflect seriously illogical on behalf of the Member States.

Advanced use of sharing seems to overcome this deficiency (only the folder you share ACTUALLY appears) however I have noticed even apparently random times the C:\Users folder appears shared despite exclusively using the advanced sharing?

In any case, I wanted to raise the issue again in the hope that somehow, somewhere, someone could provide information about the position of MS in this regard, and if there is no intention to solve.

    Hi Windza,

Probably, there is no permanent solution to this problem. Therefore, we would like you to send your comments to http://mymfe.microsoft.com/Windows%20%207/Feedback.aspx?formID=195&UrlReferrer =

  • E-MAIL: E-mail mysteriously leave main folder "sent"?

I come home late last night having to check an email I sent a month earlier.

This is normally no problem because I save all my emails sent and received.

To my horror, when I clicked on the box sent had only 4 emails instead of several hundred! (See screenshot).

Had I accidentally deleted them in a recent frenzy of trashing?

After a few minutes, I discovered chicks in "Mail sent" in the section "on my Mac" bottom of the left column (see screenshot).

Can someone explain how they got there or what's mysterious to you as it is for me?

I certainly have not consciously move them and no one else has access to my computer.

By the way, my emails SENT have disappeared at the same time last year, but I never found them on this occasion.  .  .  .  they were probably in this folder all the time!

PS Please ignore the reference to 'El Capitan' below, I use Yosemite on this computer.

Try re-indexing of mailboxes mailbox. This can take some time if you have a lot of mail.

Reindex messages           For El Capitan, try looking in V3.

  • Can I delete my folder "music" once that my music has been added to iTunes?

I just make the switch from a PC to a Mac and I'm currently putting all upward. As someone who has never used iTunes before that I have a simple question:

I had a music collection of reasonable size on my PC in a folder called "music". I copied this entire folder on a hard drive external and then pasted on my new iMac tab music in the finder. Then I started iTunes and added the majority (but not all) of the music in the folder "music" from my iTunes library. Am I right in thinking that iTunes actually another copy of all my music in the iTunes folder, which means that I now duplicated a lot of music? If he made a copy, can I now delete the folder "music" original? I took care until I copied it all from my PC that all of my pieces is in MP3 format only, not WMA at all.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you.

Am I right in thinking that iTunes actually another copy of all my music in the iTunes folder, which means that I now duplicated a lot of music?

If you have the default settings, the answer is probably yes.  To be sure, right-click any track in iTunes, choose 'Show in Finder', and you will see what copy of a song file iTunes uses.

If you have another copy of the song file, iTunes didn't need, and you can remove at your discretion.

  • How can I create a subfolder in Windows Live Gallery one main folder (folder standing on its own)?

I've been downloading photos in the Windows Live Gallery. By mistake I have several subfolders. How can I make or change these subfolders for primary records?

You can do it from the inside of the Photo Gallery app, but it's easier to do it instead of your image library.  Click Start/images, then you can either drag-and - drop folders to the location (the photo library I guess) or cut-and - paste them.
