Should I put my VCenter database on a server with other databases

My sysadmin is reinstall VCenter and would put the VCenter database on the db server that has all other company databases (ERP, promotion, etc.). I am not convinced that it's a good idea and I was wondering if there would be a return important success caused by this addition.

So from the outside you're saying that the DB server must be dedicated to the vCenter database?

No, you're just adding another DB instance with your SQL Server.  Why would the VCDB be treated differently.  There is no need to build a SQL Server set for the instance a DB, especially if you already have an existing DB server.

  • Installing Vcenter new server with the new database

    Hello

    We currently have the virtual Center 2.5 with SQL express back-end and we are planning to upgrade to vcenter server with Oracle backend. My original plan was to start over by installing vcenter on a temporary server with Oracle and eventually return the current server vcenter and use the same Oracle server. What would be the simplest solution for this? Essentially, in the end, we need to use the current server to vcenter but move from the db to the Oracle database. Our group consists of 3 servers and only active DRS at present (HA disabled for this upgrade). Can I upgrade the current virtual Center vcenter server directly and do fresh install for the Oracle database?

    Thank you

    I would also install a new server vCenter thr.

    After that, make a new configuration and Noor and if everything works correctly, uninstall the old und VC 2.5 check also the HA!

    Good luck!

  • Agent JAVA EE - where should I put third party jdbc database drivers?

    Hello

    I need to move from stand-alone agent to ee java agent deployed on weblogic server. This is my independent agent configuration:
    -jdbc drivers of third-party required for integration with third party database servers: mysql and firebird. When you use autonomous agent, I put the driver files corresponding to the directory of the agent/drivers and it works. Where should I put third-party drivers to make them visible to java ee officer?
    -configuration of the agent of database coneection: non-standard options you need. When you use autonomous agent, I need to change some of the options in the agent/bin/odiparams.sh file:
    ODI_CONNECTION_RETRY_COUNT = 1000
    ODI_CONNECTION_RETRY_DELAY = 7000
    How to install agent java ee in the same way? Is this possible? I need my agent to connect to the repository (oracle database) in the case where when the connection is lost.

    Can you help me?

    You can add the jars to D:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\ext
    and then add the path of the driver jar at the entrance WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH in the location of the commonEnv.bat file in the folder bin (D:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\common\bin).
    Restart the server instance.

  • placement of vCenter database

    Scenario: SRV1 is a virtual machine that has installed vcenter.  The vCenter database (SQL) is on VM SRV2.  Now I want to get SRV2, do little maintenance, change the configuration of the VM, etc..  Is it possible if the SQL database is offline?  A cluster or something similar would be necessary in this case?

    If stop you the SRV2 for maintenance the vCenter isn't available, but you can still connect directly to the ESXi host where SRV2 and make the virtual machine configuration changes... The SRV2 vmx10 hardware version, you should can the vSphere Client 5.5 02 update to be able to change the settings for the virtual machine.

  • Migration vCenter database of the local instance to a remote server

    Hello

    My vCenter database is installed on the local server with the vCenter server.  When installing without DSN was created because the local database.  Now, I need to create a dedicated server to host the database but can't find where, in the current installation, I would like to change to vCenter point to the new location.

    I read these KBs

    KB.VMware.com/kb/7960893 - movement of the SQL Server to vCenter database
    KB.VMware.com/kb/5850444 - migration vCenter Server on a different host machine
    KB.VMware.com/kb/1003928 - troubleshooting the database data source used by the VirtualCenter Server

    Problem is that (1) there is no DSN, (2) the registry key is not there either, and (3) I cannot find what to change in the vpxd.conf file

    I am able to "migrate the database" and "can create a new dsn to point to the new location.

    So, the question is where can I find the current configuration of the database\dsn.

    I hope that's clear

    Hi VMGenie,

    The reason why it does not appear THAT DSN u is because your machine VC can be 64-bit and the vCenter uses 32-bit DSN settings.

    Open the C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe folder for this exe... it should show u the DSN settings.

  • What priority should I put in the QOS to work with IP voice service

    I have a new router Cisco RV180W and don't know which priority should I put in the high, medium, low possibility of QOS

    in order to work properly with the Ip voice device.

    The default values are 61, 31 y 10 but in a net with 12 PCs

    I think that this configuration 61 voice Ip and only 31 to the rest of the net

    is a value that is too low. This is definition 2 VLANs.

    How I can well criteria to configure these values of priorities?

    In the previous (a WR210 of Cisco router), the only thing that was

    set up which was the Ip voice connected in Lan 2 Port number with a high priority.

    I'm stuck with this matter and it should resolve quickly

    Thank you very much

    Daniel Di Matteo

    Hi Daniel, the claim of LAN should not affect the performance of the internet. All that is on the local interconnection, make queries on the local network will not use an internet connection. So as long as your servers/computers/cameras, etc. are using Cat6 cable and are all active GigE products, it will not be a large part of the review.

    But for your connection internet, you may be correct. 4/1 connection is not much.

    I need you to understand however, the WAN QoS for download speed only. Is not for download speed.

    You can make the profile works in 2 ways. You can keep the amount of download speed to a device or you can ensure that a device does not take more than he should.

    To set up a WAN profile correctly-

    QoS-> WAN QoS profiles

    Choose the maximum flow

    Specify your bandwidth

    Save

    Back to WAN QoS profiles, at the bottom there is a WAN QoS profile table, click Add. In the drop-down list, select the priority. Set the minimum and maximum bandwidth, and then click Save.

    Then you have to bound the profiles for the traffic selector. Go to QoS-> binding profile

    There is a service drop down choose which desired protocol

    Then choose the QOS profile you had a precedent set

    The last part, choose the IP address you want to assign.

    You can do this individually or in sequence. If you choose to be forbidden to use a device too download so that the beginning and the IP is the same. Conversely, if you have a range of devices, you can use their IP ranges if they are consecutive.

    Apply the profile, restart the router.

    I hope that I wrote this clearly for you.

  • Tax records from old computer movement; which directory should I put them given that Application data is just a junction point?

    By train to move my old data files from my PC to the new laptop, I found the files that resided in the Application Data (XP) cannot be moved to Win 7.  The year next Turbo tax will get my files in C:\Documents and settings //Applicaton data and will conclude not just her.  Where should I put my old Application data for future use because I can't access the request data AND don't know how to load if I have access under the new configuration?

    I see two answers to your question:

    • Check the Turbo Tax FAQ or ask their assistance service. A lot of people would have been in your situation.
    • The hack by creating a symbolic link to the new location. Not recommended because it is not robust.
  • where should I put the "" XML: Space = preserve ".

    Hello

    I use FM12. I want to keep empty lines (and several [shift + return] line breaks between the text of the code).

    If FM12 import my XML file, additional line breaks will be removed.

    In the read/write rules, I placed a statement

    element {'Code'

    drive line break is forced return

    }

    has not worked for me.

    In FM help files, I found the following trick: "place an attribute XML: Space ="preserve"to the item...» »

    My Question: Where should I put this attribute?

    1.) in the DTD file?

    (2.) in the file of ESD?

    (3.) in read/write rules?

    4.) in an additional configuration file?

    Thanks for any help!

    M.

    Hi Mathias...

    I use it...

    element 'codeblock' {}

    newline writer is 99999 characters;

    drive line break is forced to return;

    }

    but I think you can use it as well...

    element 'codeblock' {}

    keep line breaks;

    }

    To include the attribute XML: Space, you would add which both the EDD and the DTD.

    See you soon,.

  • vCenter database backup

    You back up the databases behind vcenter? From what I understand, they are MSSQL express? I was wondering what backup procedures deploy you databases to vcenter, I guess his key altogether to save the database in particular in concerned security agencies that the database contains potential forensic audit logs for the steps taken in your data center? What is risk if you do not save your vcenter SQLexpress DB? If so?

    It is important to back up your vCenter database because it contains all information about the configuration of your vCenter and logs. The risk is based on the complexity of your vSphere environment - if it is complex with dVswitches, configuraitons at clusters etc, then you want to back up the database, or else you will have to re-create the environment by hand. who will be your vCenter offline environment until the rebuild is complete. If it's less complex the downtime you'll rebuild the environment will be reduced.
