should I xp service pack 2 or 3? both have remote access?

Download serpack 2 for hosting using xp prof already have service pack 3 should I ser pack2

If you have already installed SP3, you have the latest service pack available installed and there is no need to 'try' install SP2... in any case even if try you the system would not let you install a service pack older at the top of the most recent.

  • I am running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (build) 2600 and have a lot of problems.

    Hi all

I am running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (build) 2600 and have loads and loads of problems. Windows keeps hung and everything I tried didn't seem to help.
I brought this second hand from a company computer, I used to work and I don't have the original installation cd or rescue disk. I meet a lot of problems and everything takes forever to load and work. I was advised to run maleware, spyware, antivirus and defrag on the computer analyses and I did all that and nothing works. Also, when I tried to run the system restore it wouldn't let me, and when I try to run the scan disk after a reboot it does not work. As a last effort, I tried running SFC and it looked as if it was working, but then it asked me for the initial startup disk, that I don't have. so I tried to cancel it, but now every time that I reboot/restart my computer load SFC and I have to start the entire process. Also, none of my cd drives work. Please help me
Also, I'm now a message that says minimum virtual memory is very low.
I would be very grateful for any help or advice anyone can offer us on these issues. a million thanks in advance.

    · Which CD you use to install Windows XP?

    · Is it exemplary retail or OEM of Windows copy?

    · You start on the CD to install Windows?

Try to copy the I386 folder on another computer to see if the file copy very well without any problems. Follow the steps below:

    a. start your computer and start Windows. Insert your Windows XP installation CD into the CD or DVD drive.

    b. click on the "Start" button, click "Run", type "CMD" in the run window and then press the Enter"" key.

    c. type the following command in the command prompt window: XCOPY32 E:\I386\*.* C:\i386_copy_folder\ /e

Note: Be sure to replace in the drive letter of your CD-ROM or DVD drive for the 'E:\I386\' of the order part and change the 'i386_copy_folder' to another file name or to another location if you want to.

    d. wait for the command to complete. Once he does, the command prompt will alert you to this fact, and the entire i386 folder will now be copied to your computer.

  • Should I install Service Pack 1 if my computer use only for Microsoft Office?

Question about Service Pack 1 for Windows 7

Hi, tell me please, need to install Service Pack 1 and the updates, if the computer uses only for Microsoft Office?

Yes, you should. It solves all the problems of security and stability.

  • I reinstalled my Vista OS and now am wondering if I should upgrade to Service Pack 2

I had problems to reboot, and I had to do a whole reinstall to my Vista operating system factory settings. I installed all the updates except SP2. When I had before Service Pack 2,

    (1) my printer had recurring problems. He'd stop work again and again, and I have to unplug it, plug it and then be reinstalled device drivers. Sometimes, it would not work.  In addition, device drivers would be reinstalling on their own... constantly. I'll never know id that my printer would work the day the day. Without SP2, I got not a single printer problem.

    (2) my C drive would get smaller and smaller, no discernible reason. I have a huge separate partition (873 GB) to store any media. Without SP2, my space and my C drive is the same, except when I download files that must remain on the C drive, which are not much more space. When I had Service Pack 2, my C drive decreased down to almost nothing. At idle, I could have lost 2 or three concerts.

So, are these problems related to Service pack 2, or was it a coincidence? Anyone know anything about this?

  • Try to install Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1, but says I have already installed

I have problems of fixing a friends computer.  He is currently running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 with the OEM sticker on the bottom with the key, but he lost the installation discs.  To help make repairs, I have a valid Windows Vista repair disc and the Ultimate Boot CD on two different USBs.  The symptoms are:

Three addons will install successfully, I restart, and they are uninstalled back again.  The installed updates window shows nothing.  I have the CBS.log newspaper and the CheckSUR.log if you do not want to see them.  There are a lot of mistakes in both of these balls

If I download service pack 2 manually and try to install it, it says I need to install service pack 1 first.  If I download SP1 manually and try to install it, it says I already have service pack 1 installed.  If I try to install KB947821 it hangs the first time 75% and crashes to zero then.

The machine has problems with the .net Framework.  I noticed that programs seem to corrupt and the only way to fix it is to clean the .net Framework and reinstall it.

The computer has recently been scanned with a full scan of Norton and no errors found.  There is no antivirus or active windows security options because I was trying to get the updates to install.  I'm in safe mode with network currently.

    Things I've done:

I read a lot about this problem with a recovery partition.  My recovery partition was the flag of boot top, so I spent my drive main and then booted from the disk to repair Windows Vists the flag and ran the Startup Repair.  He set up the main drive of OS as the boot partition, but that does not solve the problem.

In order to exclude any form of corruption of MBR, I wiped the MBR and ran the /fixmbr tool to restore the MBR.  This does not seem to help anything either.

There is a tool to repair WIndows Update, called a "Microsoft Fix it." I ran this in normal and aggressive modes without change.

Please let me know what information you want.  I tried it for awhile and I don't think I'll get it without help.

    Hi Jeremiah,.

Based on the information provided (especially errors in the CBS logs), there seems to be several packages in Windows that are damaged or corrupted. They could become this way through several scenerios (3rd party program interaction causing files to be moved or deleted, antivirus software can make a mistake of components to update valid as malicious, or even malware infection). Currently, there are a few options.

You could try manually repair all the packages that are in your CheckSUR report and then try to run the updates again.

Perform a upgrade in Place to attempt to repair the components.

Perform a clean installation to repair all the features of the operating system.

All these choices are not the largest road to go down, unfortunately at this stage with the damage caused to your system, these are the few options left to fix.
