Should what media player I use to open on my VISTA PC .mov videos?

Computer is a Dell XPS 420 Windows Vista SP2 (Home Premium)
32-bit Internet Explorer 9 Panda anti-virus Safari is also installed.

Went backward from IE8 to IE9 four times, but have been using IE9 for 6 months.
IE9 is as high as I can go with VISTA. At the moment I'm NOT able to get a newer version
Windows. Thus, any help will be greatly appreciated.

NO, I made NO changes to my computer.

I took a video on my Iphone 5 on 11 June 2014. I can see it on my phone. When I have this message to other cell phones, they can see it. When I send it to emails, no one can open it except gmail. We get the message that there is no Association set for .mov. I went .mov in the list of the association and "attached" to Windows Media Player, which does not recognize it, or open it. Should what media player I use?

HELP PLEASE!

.mov is not a format very widely compatible. Anyone who designs will require a third-party video player, such as Apple's QuickTime. A better solution is to save all in another format, such as .mp4. (Keep in mind that I know almost nothing about iPhones). Maybe you could use a Media Converter. (be careful with these)

  • Windows Media Player 12 will not open or read CD/DVD

Excuse me, I know that I posted earlier but I accidentally hit the wrong button and it says has answered my question and it was not. I had a virus on my computer and it was cleaned professionally. Now my windows media player will not open. He also will not play a cd/dvd or existing music files on my computer. The icon appears on the screen, but nothing happens when I try to open it. I can't do a system restore because there is nothing to restore, my computer was completely wiped out. Someone suggested this below "Disable media features" reboot and then turn on again. I tried already with no luck. I'm also totally updated everything I could find to put on my computer up-to-date.

    1. click on Start (lower-left) and then on Control Panel.

    2. click on programs and features.

    3. on the left side of the screen, click on 'Windows turn features on or off".

    4. look for the entry called multimedia features and extend it by using the symbol. +.

    5. uncheck the box for Windows Media Player.

    6. click on OK.

    7 restart the PC.

    8. click on Start (lower-left) and then on Control Panel.

    9. click on programs and features.

    10. on the left side of the screen, click on 'Windows turn features on or off".

11 look for the entry called multimedia features and to extend it using the symbol +.

    12. check the box for Windows Media Player.

    13. click on OK.

    14. restart the PC.

I was afraid of that - "Configuration parameters can be set wrongly."

On google, there are a few reports of this error message and I couldn't find any that it is resolved. I hope that someone else will be "the chip" with a solution. I'm sorry.

There are some media player FixIt who might want to try (I have not had your specific problem and Ive not run the FixIt so can't say for sure).

You can try things like a SFC/scannow , that can help, but I doubt it. I guess it depends on what the virus.

You could check that the virus is actually went in downloading, installing, free update (update in the Admin) and running a scan with Malwarebytes , but if it was 'cleaned professionally"should be deleted. But unfortunately things that his attack can still be altered.

You could try a test, to create a new user account 'test' and the connection through that to see if WMP works from this account. for example, it can be your user profile that has been damaged. If this account works WMP then migrate your data everywhere...

If all goes well, a WMP expert will come to the rescue.

You should be able to do it by opening the two programs, then right click on the taskbar and selecting "Tile Windows vertically".  Just make sure that they are only two open programs.

This screenshot shows WMP and WordPad, because I do not have Word installed, but it should work exactly the same thing:

So that others that a relocation complete, what can I do?

    Hello

Do you have an error message when you open Windows Media Player?

You have made any changes to your computer recently?

I suggest you follow the methods below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Verify the file system (CFS) Run analyses and checks to see if it helps.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Note: System File Checker gives an administrator the ability to scan the files all protected to check their versions. If the System File Checker detects that a protected file has been replaced, it retrieves the correct version of the file in the folder cache (% Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache) or the Windows installation source files and then replaces the incorrect file. System File Checker verifies and repopulates the cache folder also. You must be logged in as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group to run the System File Checker. If the cache folder is damaged or unusable, you can use the sfc/scannow, sfc /scanonceor sfc /scanboot orders to repair its contents.

Method 2: Re-register wmp.dll file and check if it helps.

    (a) click Start.

    (b) type CMD.exe and right-click on it and select run as administrator.

    (c) Type Regsvr32 wmp.dll, and press to enter.
