  I copied the folder "Images" that is default in my Mac on an external drive.

  Inside the 'Images' folder, there is the iPhoto folder.

  When I reopened iPhoto, all photos disappeared from the iPhoto library and the external drive. I left alone with very little, very old photos.

  What software (name and version) are you using? What format is the EHD? How is it connected? What exactly did you do step by step

• Photos disappeared suddenly iOS 9.2

  I just noticed that almost all my pictures have disappeared from the photos app, although the photos is still using 1 GB of my storage. I don't have not yet updated 9.2.1 yet.  I was using iCloud photo library, but received a guest this morning asking if I wanted to use it. I did not sign and to icloud yet, and I can't confirm if they are absent from my iPad as well.

  Fortunately, they are all backed up via Google Photos, so I haven't lost anything.

  Any ideas?

  I was able to confirm that all my photos are always visible on my iPad. iCloud library is enabled on my iPad as well.

  How is your library file named including extension and where is it located?  You can see where it is located in the General preferences panel pictures.

• Photos disappeared from: F to: G drive, that I can't find or open!

  To save all my pictures on an external: F drive as my: C drive is nearly full. A few days ago, one of my whole photo folders disappeared from this: drive F (F:\pictures\2010-2011).  When I search my computer for the name of the folder all the individual photos in a list now appear in what is called a G: drive.  But when I try to access one of these photos I get this message:

  I am connected to the Internet, is not any other external disk and the photos do not appear to be anywhere on my: C drive.   It's two years of valuable missing photos :-(   Anyone know what I did wrong?

  If you open "F:", you see nothing?  You can't have the Explorer?

  If you right-click on the 'F:', and then select Properties - space free/used how?

• Photos disappeared from WLPG and WPG.

  I recently had my laptop infected with who knows what. I came back and it was 'fixed '. I went to open WLPG to look at a few pictures and they disappeared. I went to another user having the same photos and they did the same thing. Is - this recoverable? I did the 'show hidden files' in the Panel, but yes, it does not. Right now I'm very ticked off as I have not had a chance to save them (pictures of Christmas, Thanksgiving and other photos of my father who passed away in October.) Can someone help me please!

  Couldn't hurt to check the set Hidden once again... maybe
  you don't have to click... Apply / OK.

  Reach... Control Panel / folder Options / View tab.
  ... To check "Show the hidden files and folders" / apply / OK.

  Let us know if the files reappear.

  If the files were not 'hidden' is it possible that it was
  moved to another folder by accident? There's a chance
  that do a search for .jpg could find them.

  It seems that the pictures folder is corrupted, you can try to create a new folder of pictures and check.

  Method 1:

  You can right click and delete the picture of exixting folder and follow the steps in the article to create a new folder.

  When I tried to open the Gallery, it was completely empty! ALL THE PIC & VIDEOS DISAPPEARED! The image file is empty, too. The Gallery picture is still used as my background, so I have to assume that these photos are somewhere... I also checked the trash & restored windows. Someone please help! I lost a ton of precious photos of my children and I am devastated.

  I was wondering if you tried to perform a search on .jpg?

  If you have created a file, the file will always be under Windows. If you tried to create a file and by mistake I forgot to save the file, then the file you are trying to create is not recorded and no longer exists in Windows.
   
  The information in the file will not be available under Windows if the file is not created, cannot be saved or deleted by mistake.
  If you have created and saved the file successfully under Windows, but is not able to locate the saved file, you can always search for the file.
