• Why I can't import the sidecar.xml more?

  For more than a year, I used generator sidecar.xml to write the titles of the articles and the export/import in all different sizes of each issue of my magazine. For import, I chose "import multiple items" and chose the sidecar.xml folder.

  Now with the last update they seem to no longer works and it is a HUGE problem for me and I think for many others. I've read about this new files sidecar.xml based on the way, but I don't need, I want to use the old method to import my xml which worked well.

  On your release notes: "there are now two different methods for the use of the sidecar.xml files to import the items. "The classic sidecar.xml workflow is always supported - the sidecar.xml format and the workflow remains unchanged." and then why can't I just import more the sidecard generated by sidecar.xml generator?

  One of the DPS teams is currently studying this issue. Until this problem is resolved, one solution is to add a element after the element in the classic sidecar.xml file.

  Hello - I have created a sidecar on the path that works very well. Now, I want to add more items to the folio. How do I do that?   You can import new items as specific items, and later, when you update your sidecar.xml you put in an empty folder with nothing else inside and then import "several items" on this issue. It works fast, no crash at all.

• The "item access" parameter in sidecar.xml

  It must be possible to set "Item access" in sidecar.xml as Protected < articleAccess > < / articleAccess >, (or whatever it should be instead on protected).

  But in practice this setting has no effect. The "item access" setting does not change.

  You use the web interface of the xmlsidecar generator made by Johannes Henseler and push the button it "generate". Copy paste in a plain text file and then replace tex extension txt to xml format. This is how you do a sidecar.xml the easy way.

  Subsequently, yo have to import "multiple files" (or "multiple files"... my DPS is a Spanish) Folio Builder.

  If the folder revolve correctly, folio Builder will start to swallow the sidecar data and download articles.

  I am struggling with a big problem with the sidecar.xml file because it's not always loaded the < smoothScrolling > < / smooothScolling > statement.

  I created a folio 'test' very simple with only two articles each in two pages, either in horizontal and vertical, and so I structure of the suite:

  Well well... What is happening now is that I create a new folio with the Panel Builder Folio and then I import using the option multiple article. Everything looks ok (the two articles are imported and the description, the title of the article, the author, kicker are correct) but the results of 'smoothScrolling' be disabled! (in my Italian version, I have the following "path of uniform release: disabled (allinea a pagina)" (that I translate as 'never') instead, I expect to have "uniform release track: both the direzioni" (that I translate as 'always').)

  And what's worse, is that if I try to change the property in Indesign using the Folio Builder Panel I get this error message:

  [Error: Gli articles con scorrimento uniform must hoop at least una pagina single.] Aprite uniform finestra di dialogo Proprietà by change the di scorrimento options.]

  I try to translate it:

  Generate error content.

  Error: items with smoothScrolling must have at least one page. Open the dialogue window property to change the options for the smoothScrolling.

  In fact the Indesign source files 002_v.indd and 002_h.indd have already two pages so I do not understand what means error. It just says: change ownership, but it means that I can't have the smoothScrolling on 'always', and I don't understand why!
  

  I would just have an effect "smoothScrolling" between two pages of various items by using the sidecar.xml file.

  And you need the latest version of the Folio Builder plugin (mine was just a 'bit' older and did not work; did only after the upgrade to 1.1.9.1 (ranked in all 7.5.5.18 - 676053))

  I managed upgraged to v18 (folio group and tools).

  Now, I can't import several items if there is a file sidecar.xml.

  If I remove the sidecar, it works.

  I've just heard of developer. The code for necessary v18 worth 'Author' version, which was not required in previous versions. This problem must be resolved in the Thursday hot difficulty release, or you can change your code to include the value of the author. If you specify a value for the author and that you sidecar.xml file does not work, please let us know.

• How to change section order with based on the path of sidecar.xml

  I see that the < entry > tag controls where an article appears in the folio:

  "The order of the < entry > sections determines the order of the items in your folio when you create your folio or when you update it."

  But does that mean that I must move the entire section of an article to another location in the code, or enter a number somewhere?

  You must move the section of the article in its entirety in the XML document to the location where you want in the order of folio.

  We work by ensuring that all of the attributes that can be set in producer FBP or folio can be defined in sidecar.xml.

  I am trying to load my file sidecar.xml in a folio v26 and everything, but access to article seems to work fine. It of a folio of 20 article and all items are set to be safe with the < articleAccess > free < / articleAccess > line in each entry. If someone has experienced this problem or did I miss something that might interfere with it?

  Hi Bob.

  Yes, there is an existing folio. The sidecar.xml lives in his own sidecar file and we use the option import several items in order to enter in the folio.

  Our application is in fact to the v27 and I seem to run through a potential solution for this... I've updated for tools v27 & Panel folio (we were on v26) and I'm going to rebuild this folio existing as a folio v27 since our app is v27. It is not working properly when I come back and recharge the sidecar under the folio v27 Panel, but to be safe, I will rebuild the folio as a folio v27.

  I have problems to make generator Folio to read my sidecar file. I was creating them using the generator of sidecar.xml and then copy the code into TextEdit. The way that I save it is that a word 2003 format (xml) is that correct? It has worked before, but doesn't seem to work now. Any ideas or advice?

  I was just wondering if this is an area that you can include in the sidecar of a Folio protection status of the article. In the read - me PDF there is no mention of this area. I don't see why it would not one, however.

  Protégé is not valid in the file sidecar.xml. It would be great if it was included, as well as metadata of folio.
