  • compatibility of windows 8 Microsoft with the sidewinder gamepad

Just replaced my worn on slimline. Really unhappy with the new windows operating system. Now I buy the new office and worse still, my microsoft sidewinder force feedback2 gamepad does not work for my flight sims. Guess they want to get rid of everything and come on xbox. Think I'd better set just my old computer. Is there or will there ever be a difficulty? This is starting to look like Obama care - new, better, continue to use what you have and then problems. Sorry about that, just a discharge. Everything would be good if I could just get flying again.

    Dmnic, welcome to the forum.

It seems that your game controller is not compatible with Win 8.  I think you only option is to use the Win 7 compatibility-mode software.

However, I read a case where someone is using Win 8 and have no problems.  He said that he has apparently installed his own driver.  Have you actually tried?

  • How to install the Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad on a Windows 7 computer?

Need help to install a joystick microsoft sidewinder on my computer with a Windows 7 operating system. I have a gamepad adapter to connect via USB. Can you please help me with this.

    Hi Bhottinger,

Microsoft has dropped support for this product. As such there is no driver available for this product.

However, according to the Compatibility Center Windows 7, Microsoft Sidewinder joystick is compatible with Windows 7. You can see the report here.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/search.aspx?l=en-us&type=hardware&s=SideWinder%20joystick

Therefore, using control of pilot integrated Windows if you manage to get the device works. If you have the old drivers CD, you can try changing the compatibility of the driver settings to make it work.

    Method 1:

Usually, Windows will find and automatically install the necessary drivers when you plug your game controller into your computer.

    (a) connect the joystick to the USB port via the adapter.

    (b) see if it is detected.

    (c) Windows should recognize the new hardware and set in place to work properly.

    Method 2:

Install the old driver that comes with the product by changing its compatibility settings.

I have upgraded to Windows 8, which came preloaded on my Toshiba Satellite C55 - A.  I used to have an old Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad, but when I upgraded to Windows 8, it only pulled upward and to the left and was completely useless.

I threw this gamepad outdoors, assuming it was the problemand just bought a new extreme of Logitech Pro 3D.  He... has the same problem.  I was directed here by a hotline.

It is obviously a problem of Windows 8, not a hardware problem, as it happened in the same way with two controllers.

  • Gamepad not detected

I will describe the situation in detail.

First of all, I've upgraded to Windows 7.  When I had installed my games, I tried to add my Joystick.  I discovered that Windows 7 does not support the standard game, only USB port devices.  No problem, I have a cable converter that allows me to use my Joystick gameport on a USB port.  I plugged and got nothing.  No sound, nothing.  I tried searching in the menu devices, the game controller menu, even the Device Manager, but it is nowhere.  It is as if she is not at all connected.

I thought it would be that the joystick is too old and not supported, but it is a Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro and it is apparently supported.

I thought that maybe the USB port was defective, but I have the same problem no matter where I connect it, and other devices operate normally on all ports.  I thought that perhaps the adapter was defective, but my Gamepad works to use it.

In the end, I went out and bought a Saitek Aviator USB gamepad.  I connect it and... nothing.  Exactly the same problem as the Sidewinder.

The drivers are up to date.  The port works, the joystick works on my old computer, the adapter works with the Gamepad and all of them are supported by Windows.  I am at a loss.  What else could it be?

  • Microsoft SideWinder Game Pad Pro Configure buttons

    Hello

is it possible to configure the game pad pro buttons in Vista?

Tfrom Gamepad pro for this software do not work under Vista.

    Best regards

    Michael

Probably not.  Basically, Microsoft made Vista and Windows 7 compatible with the Xbox 360 controller.  As part of their Games for Windows program, games is now designed with this in mind as the standard gamepad.  And the focus was there.  Previous hardware support for Sidewinder and other game materials has pretty well dried up.  There may be some alternatives with third-party tools, but I'm not aware of anything.  However, if you happen to have an Xbox 360 wired controller, you can connect directly to your PC and start using it.  A wireless controller, however, requires a receiver of wireless like this on Amazon game.  Located here

I know that this is not directly answering your question, but I thought I could give you at least some options in case you can't get the Sidewinder to work.

  • Loading of joystick Sidewinder FORCE Feedback 2 on VISTA

I have a new computer with Vista and got close to loading Microsoft Sidewinder FORCE Feedback 2 disc to use with Microsoft Flight Simulator X and have problems loading.
The run.exex crosses all the guests, is the copy program and then copy the profile.  At this point, I get a warning box "Are you sure you want to exit the installation of Sidewinder Forcefeedback 2" with the Yes or no boxes.  If I click No this just SID and does nothing.  Click Yes, and naturally it closes.
I expect to see a message from LOADING software will then ask to connect the gamepad and proceed to step 2, which is testing.
