  • Firefox 43 - Netflix - not recognized Silverlight, does not.

    Using Windows 7 64-bit SP1. Using Firefox 43 32 bits.

After the upgrade to Firefox 43 Netflix doesn't recognize of Silverlight and the forces of reading in the built-in player to HTML5. HTML5 player uses 90% cpu and therefore unusable. Tried the usual solutions: clear the cache etc. uninstalling, re-installing Silverlight; turn it back on. Silverlight is still not recognized or work. Tried the Microsoft test site. Says that Silverlight is installed and running. I tried Netflix in Internet Explorer. Siverlight works.

I need one of two solutions: (1) work Silverlight; or (2) use HTML5 player with a CPU use moderate.

    Thank you.

Thank you. Change the user-agent string might work, but I don't want to change the headers.

Bottom line from my perspective: Silverlight cannot be used in Firefox 43 with Netflix. The change was not documented or communicated in the release notes December 15. The above blog ads were released on 17 December and State single reading HTML5 is available, which is different from saying that Silverlight is not available.

  • Microsoft Silverlight will / can send information about the people and the info on their computer. What are the plans for Firefox to protect its community of users of this?

After reading the privacy statement from Microsoft regarding their Silverlight 5, it has troubling information about the loss of his privacy, under the "collection and use of information...". "the personal information and the information on my computer! In addition, information may be stored outside of the United States! (paragraph 4 under "collection and use of information... »). As part of the FireFox community, what other options do we have?

Hello 010matrix010, firefox will not run on the default Web sites, but only silverlight content when a user activates explicitly the plug-in through the icon in the address bar or click on the embedded content.
also the support for plugins like silverlight in the browser will be dismantled at the end of next year: https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/

  • Which system is best for minecraft and sims?

Should I assume that a mac mini is not useful if I use boot camp to play these games? If this is the case then I have to assume the mac mini (without using boot camp) is not good for these types of games on the right?

My choice for a new system are: 1. Kingdel; Fanless industrial PC, NUC 10 Windows with Intel Mini 4th generation i7 CPU of Haskell, 16 GB of RAM, 128 GB SSD + 1 TB HARD drive. Graphics Intel HD4400/5000, 3200 * 2000 resolution supported

2 mini mac - 2.6 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 16 GB memory 1 TB hard drive1(fusion drive) Intel Graphics Iris OS X El Capitan thanks again for your comments I am a complete novice when it comes to such things.

No, Bootcamp is just so you can run Windows on it. If the games are for Windows, then you need Windows to run it.

The fact that it can run on Windows means that it can also run on OS X if you have a version of the games for OSx.

Minecraft or Sims require a system that is too powerful, or it is not working properly.

If you have a lot of Windows-based games, I'd go for the PC.  Otherwise you will restart the Mac every time you want to change from OS X to Windows to play a game based on Windows.

  • Silverlight 5.1.40728.0 reported by Firefox as vulnerable 41.0.1 / needs updated. From where? Why?

Silverlight 5.1.40728.0 reported by 41.0.1 as vulnerable Firefox / "update now" when I check my plug-ins are up-to-date. By clicking on the button takes me to the MS Silverlight download site, but all I get from following instructions is same version of Silverlight and Firefox same result. What is vulnerability? Why Silverlight can't be updated? I am sure to leave Silverlight as it is or should I turn it off? Or what? Why declare as vulnerable and who need to update if there is no recourse?

I think I found the answer - it's those pesky DRM vultures pushing again equivalent HTML5 cos that gives them more control over the things that we want to watch through browsers - discover this place for more information:

  • Reset my computer worked firefox now crashes at startup even after installation clean single ad on ms silverlight without outdated programs only works in safe mode

My computer is fundamentally new. I have Avast anti virus, steam (CS sims3 + animals domestic only games installed), Google Chrome (installed with avast), Magic iso, WD my cloud (for my home network cloud) server software, Microsoft silverlight and who he is. Firefox starts in safe mode, I tried to clean install of the latest version and research updates in safemode, my adobe plugins are up-to-date, I disabled everything else. The only sites I've visited in firefox are Facebook to connect and save my password clicked on any link, Netflix to find the Silverlight plugin, Gaia online to save my password. That's all now it does not start without crashing into any other mode, which can make.

You have hardware acceleration disabled in your old profile and now he allowed in the new profile that was created due to the discount to zero/update.

You can start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the shift/Options key.

Try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

You will need to close and restart Firefox after enabling/disabling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your display driver graphic card and search for hardware acceleration of related issues.

  • Firefox 64-bit Developer cannot use Java 8 (64-bit) and Microsoft Silverlight (64-bit)

    I use Firefox Developer (42.0a2 (2015-08-26)).
I installed Silverlight (64-bit) and Java 8 (64-bit) but I can not use any web that use Silverlight or Java.

Hi, versions of firefox on windows 64 bit does support flash as npapi plugin. If you want to use other plugins so you must continue to use the regular 32 bit versions. This is normal, as mozilla wants to take a clean slate for plugins on win 64 bit apparently: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/win64/meetingarchive#Clean_Slate_Approach

  • Silverlight Plugin missing

I want to watch Netflix and refuses to use an other Brwoser than Firefox. So here's the problem:
After correctly uninstall silverlight and put it back, once again, Netflix continues to give me notice that silverlight must be installed, although it is. I uninstalled Firefox clean and installed again. I went into the internet up and down and did everything, like the microsoft tool, I checked if everything is up to date, I've done everything literally! When I keep the navigation for the solution, I see that on some sites, he advised me to check my addons-> Plugins and select silverlight. Now, I remember seeing Silverlight it there many times, but is not there any more, it is completely absent. Please help me!

If the above does not help...

Firefox usually detects Silverlight since a registry entry created by the Silverlight installer. Points of entry into a file here - you can verify that the file exists:

    c:\Program Files (x 86) \Microsoft Silverlight\5.1.40728.0\npctrl.dll

If the file does not exist, the installation failed.

If there is in this place, there's a number that Firefox cannot find it the possible reasons:

One of the possible reasons for a plugin not installed in which they appear in the page modules are if Firefox has DO NOT scan the registry for plugins. Another is that the settings of Firefox, plugin data storage file is corrupt. Here are the steps to check these possibilities:

Confirm that Firefox scans the registry for plugins

Firefox detects the Silverlight plugin for a registry entry. Some users have scanning disabled for some reason any. Here's how check and fix this:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the filter box, type or paste the scan and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) If plugin.scan.plid.all is not set to its default value true, double-click it to activate it by default.

If you have changed this setting, close and restart Firefox to start another analysis.

If you visit the Add-ons page again, success?

If Firefox is set to scan, but still do not find Silverlight and the list on the page Add - ons...

Remove the registry file for the plugin for Firefox

Sometimes the pluginreg.dat file is damaged. You can remove it and Firefox plugins re-scan. As a side effect, the plug-ins that you have disabled the page modules probably will be reactivated, you'll need to return to this page once more.

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • Menu help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste Subject: support in the address bar and press enter

In the first table of the page, click on the "view file" button to launch a new window of Windows Explorer showing your settings files.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • File menu > exit

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename pluginreg.dat to something like pluginreg.old

Launch Firefox back up again. (If you want to restore your previous session non-private use history > restore previous Session.)

When you return to the page modules, is Silverlight finally here?

  • How to upgrade to Silverlight Add-on? Update does not work!

Mozilla says that Silverlight module must be updated, but when I click on "update" all that I get is "Silverlight 4.1.10328.0 and lower has been blocked for your protection." So, how to date?

    You can try this page:

    The current version is: 5.1.40728.0
