Sites using flash/shockwave cause Firefox hang.

If the shockwave flash plugin is enabled on version > 22, visiting a site that contains flash content will cause Firefox to hang / react very slowly. I tried to disable all the modules without effect.
I use shockwave flash 11.2.r202.310 but it doesn't seem to matter when the version of flash that I use.

I FIXED IT

  • Browser Konqueror for Linux has a CPU limitation function useful for Web sites using Flash content. You can add such a feature in Firefox?

I recently discovered that browser Konqueror for Linux can help the user to limit the CPU usage while visiting a Web site using flash technology by changing the settings in the Flash section and by adjusting the slider settings VERY HIGH to HIGH and AVERAGE and so on. It actually works and it doesn't have a direct impact on the overall performance for flash player, but it can lead to conflicts if other such extensions that add blocker or click-to-flash are also enabled.

Maybe you can add a similar setting in Firefox in the browser or just as a useful addon or extension option section.

    Hi Michael,
I love the sound of that. I found an add on which has Visual for the CPU usage as well as can be useful

Topic: memory page also contains a detailed report that breaks down each process that occupies this space. I wonder if it is a supplement that taps by limiting these

Blank pages in the sites of google using any browser IE, Firefox, Chrome etc. In other sites, I get only the lines and images and in others, obtain fragments of pages. At microsoft.com search all ok. I tried the clean, safe mode with network boot, remove antivirus, reset browser, windows update, winsock reset but nothing helps.

Have you tried to reset the TCP/IP stack?  Maybe that will be the case.  Here is the procedure:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/06/19/reinstall-and-reset-tcpip-internet-protocol-in-windows-vista-2003-and-xp/.

  • Typing in the bar URL causes Firefox hang

Firefox started to hang whenever I type in the URL bar. Firefox starts normally, but this problem will invariably occur shortly after it has finished loading. It seems that I am able to prevent hanging if I resize the window of Firefox.

However, the only way I could find out how to prevent the problem is using Firefox in Mode without failure. I tried to disable different modules, reset Firefox, go back to a previous version, and even restore my computer to an earlier restore point, and the problem persists.

Functions of Internet Explorer without any errors on the same computer. Is there anything I can do except hope that a new version of Firefox doesn't have the same problem?

    Thank you

Try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • How to enable flash player on firefox to always turn on by default

So, while browsing the internet and watching flash videos became unresponsive and I stopped and sent the accident report. When I refreshed the videos to buffer again, I was invited to allow flash (Shockwave Player) to run. I never changed this setting to ask to activate before and I did it for me without my consent. When I tried to change that setting back always activate, the option is greyed out so I am not in a position to actually chose this option and continue my day. I'd not have to deal with this, because in my school, flash is heavily used and this has become a very big trouble that I would have corrected. Otherwise I will be forced to stop using Firefox, because it's too much an extra to have hassle to deal with. Also when updated to the latest version of flash player it does not correct the problem.

Due to a vulnerability declared in the current version of Adobe (https://helpx.adobe.com/security/prod.../apsa15-04.html), Mozilla has soft-blocked the latest version of the Shockwave Flash plugin. Therefore, you must enable on trusted sites to use instead of being able to set Firefox to allow all sites use Flash automatically.

If you are not accustomed to using the "Request to activate" feature a plugin, here's what to expect:

When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification in the address bar icon and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an information bar slides between the toolbar and in the page area.

If you see a good reason to use Flash, and the site looks trustworthy, you can go ahead and click on the Lego-like icon in the address bar to allow Flash. Your choice: for a current or permanent use.

But the page might be using Flash only followed or playing a video ad. If you do not see an immediate need for Flash, feel free to ignore the notification, it will just sit there in case you want later.

  • 16 Firefox hangs for a minute to access some Web pages, I think that they all use Flash

I installed Firefox 16.0.1 yesterday. I was running 15 earlier in the day and it was fine. However, 16 FF started suddenly hanging for about a minute when I try to access some Web sites. It thaws fine after this minute, no crashes or anything like that, but it is very irritating. From what I can tell, it seems to do this on pages that use Flash. I have the latest version installed, and it made no difference. I tried downgrading to 15 FF and it's always the same. Anyone know what is happening?
    Thank you

  • 40 Firefox does not Flash Shockwave player to work longer?

Just upgraded to 40 of Firefox, it I cannot display any Shockwave Flash based sites or plugins, anywhere on the net.

I've installed Shockwave player. All other browsers work fine.

41 seems to work very well. 39 works fine as well.

Do not confuse the Shockwave for Director plugin and the Shockwave Flash plugin, both are different plugins.
