Size of the hard drive in the solid state

Hi, I was thinking about upgrading my hard drive on the stock of 320 GB for one SSD drive.

But I'm not sure what one to get. I am considering a 128 GB Crucial one. Choose the height of 7mm we or 9.5 mm? That one will fit in my notebook? I bought a 9.5 mm OCZ before, but it was a very tight squeeze. I don't know if its supposed to be that of sense, though.

Suggestions? Thank you.

I suggest you refer to the user or the hardware of your laptop manual and you will get details on the description of SSD.

Therefore, you can go for the SSD.

Best regards

Time Machine backup to a sparsebundle.

The sparsebundle will use the share name of computer. So, it should be obvious who is your Macbook and that is your Macpro.

Open the sparsebundle in Finder and keep open the subfolders until you get to the backup of each separate hard drive...

You has of course set the exclusion in Time Machine?

By default, Time Machine will exclude your second drive unless you have included it. Did you?

Once you get to this level during the backup, you can do a full restore manually whenever you want.

Now that you are on the factory settings, I advise Dell DataSafe Local Backup uninstall and upgrade to the latest version of Dell backup and restoration which has many bugs/improvements, including the ability to restore to another hard drive which is useful in case the hard disk fails in the future or you decide to upgrade later to an SSD. The XPS 8300 running perfectly with a SSD, I have mine put in place with one. Then you can create a Rescue Disk (external hard drive Bootable) or Backup factory (Bootable USB Flash Drive) that will be promoted the recovery compared to the facts media with Dell DataSafe Local Backup. • Satellite 5100-201-size Limitation of HARD drive

    Hello

I have a Satellite 5100-201 P4 - M 1.6 Ghz with 30 GB IDE HDD and 1024 MB of RAM. I use my 'old' Satellite only for music (the largest sound found on laptops!) but my HARD drive got a little weak.

So my question is if there is no limit on the size of HARD drive for this laptop. I would buy an IDE 120 GB or 160 GB HDD at 5400 RPM and 8 MB Cache. If this is not possible, I can also take the 80 GB of HDD (another puts it on say works), but liked better!

    Thanks for your help!

    Greetings,
    Fab

    Hey Buddy,

I think that the maximum capacity of the HARD drive would be 120 GB because the laptop has a limitation of LBA 28 bits. This means that only the hard disks up to 128 GB usable 120 GB would be the maximum. 5400 RPM and 8 MB cache are ok.

By the way: it of Nice to read that you are always so pleased with old Satellite 5200 :)

    Good evening.

Well, my desire for two year, died the other day care of overheating the chronic problems that seem struck Envys at this time. My block of cooling died beforehand, that was probably the cause of the rise in temperature. Yep, that burning smell of rubber from the exhaust vents was kind of present that something was wrong, as well as the characters of ding strange wing that the display has been put in place and the intense heat of the keyboard who suddenly developed. Unfortunately, it was out of warranty. I really liked this PC, too.

In any case, I would remove the hard disk that is inside to retrieve the data using an external hard drive enclosure but I need to know what size or form factor of the hard drive is to buy the appropriate forum. I guess it's a 2.5-inch form factor. Is this correct?

Yes, it is 2.5 inches. You can just buy SATA TO USB adapter:

  • installation window 10 on a hard drive not a solid, one State

go pc not mac using window 7 install what to buy window 10 and do a full. look to see are back window 10 still come on a disc is there download a flash Pen. the other issue is if I format the hard drive to Windows 7 would I have trouble to install window 10 on that

    Hi Wayne,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

If you have a genuine copy of Windows 7 installed on your system, you can now install Windows 10 for free. You need not not to purchase a license. In this case, you can improve your current PC to Windows 10 by going to the Windows 10 software download page to download the media creation tool. The media authoring tool can be used to create a USB or DVD media to upgrade your current PC to Windows 10 or install Windows 10 on another PC.

Follow the instructions on the download page of Windows 10 software: http://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10

    Note:

When upgrading to Windows 10 using media, you must run setup.exe from in your version of Windows 7 or Windows 8 and authentic. If you want to boot from media, you must have upgraded to Windows 10 previously. Boot 10 Windows media directly without upgrading to Windows 10 previously is not supported and will have problems with activation.

  • Disk controller and raid in the solid state for the T3600 / SCCM OSD boot image

    I'm testing a T3600 for our society.  I'm planning our Win 7 X 64 top using SCCM 2007 image.

I downloaded the drivers of ACR for this Dell system and imported the driver in a package and in the boot image, but when I start my system (WinPC) boot image can find the hard drive and fails immediately when you run the task sequence to install the image.  I restarted the WinPE disc and press F8 to get the prompt BACK.  When I used a part of disk and tried to select disk 0 there no drive to select.

It's a single SSD drive in this system, so I turned off raid but I don't know if I have a few wrong settings in the BIOS or the firmware of the controller, or if I have the correct controller and the hard driver in my boot image.

Someone at - it it works and could you tell me the settings that you used in the BIOS, controller and what drivers you used?

    Thanks for your help.

I got it.  There are two drivers for the controller and I missed a.  It was the PERC H310 for Dell Precision.

  • PowerEdge SC1435 - size limits of HARD drive?

    Hello

I have a PowerEdge SC1435 and have just tried to replace a 2 * 500 GB WD drives with WD 2 * 1 TB drives and I get "Unknown device" for the two SATA Port A & SATA Port B.

Disks SATA III & BIOS v2.2.3

Am I missing something here? This server can support these discs? Must be updated to BIOS?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mark

The question is the SATA III drives.  These have not been supported up to the 10th generation of Dell servers.  They will appear as unknown devices, if the bios is updated.

  • Change the font size in the standard State

    Hi all

Sometimes little things can be very tricky in the ApEx. I fought to change the font size in a report. I learned that I can achieve in column report edit and modify the HTML Expression, for example:

    & lt; span style = "do-family: Times New Roman;" font-size: 60% "& gt;" #EMPNAME # & lt; / span & gt;

But one of my reports has more than 30 columns, it takes forever to change one by one, as you can imagine, also, I don't think it's a good way to do this. I guess I have to change my model. For example, I now use a standard report template 12 theme. I made a copy of the report template and rename it in smaller font Standard. I'm new to CSS, how do I change the template to the report apply to a class of pre-defined fonts?

I created the demo on my workspace, please feel free to take a look at:

If you just starting out with CSS, I suggest that you spend an hour or two going through this website [http://www.w3schools.com/Css/default.asp] he will teach you the basics of CSS and how to use it and make you save hours later.

  • Can I change the HARD drive in my Elitebook 8540w for one SSD?

    Hello

I have a HARD drive which started making funny noises and I expect to do fast enough. And while that is depressing in its own right, in my view, I better the situation and and put it in a fast SSD instead of the old thing. But before I go and buy the equipment I need to know that it can actually be done. I read another thread on this forum about to put an SSD in the expansion slot (CD/DVD), but I want to replace the main HARD drive. So my best guess is that it is possible, but if there are people here with experience, please guide me in how to proceed.

I made a backup of all my important files so really the only thing I want to do is remove my old HDD and put a new and then install Windows 7 from disks that followed with the computer.

I thank very you much for your time and your help.

    Hello

Nothing don't you to replace an old HDD with a fastest SSD 'modern '. In theory, you can use ANY SDS but on the safe side, please use SSD suppliers which guarantees its product will work as the following seller:

    http://www.crucial.com/EU/upgrade/HP+-+Compaq-memory/EliteBook/EliteBook+8540w+mobile+workstation+%28Quad+core+processors%29-upgrades.html

The process is very simple (I actually put a Crucial 960 GB to one of my machines today). My suggestion: prior to material things, backup all files/data and prepare a 'big bang' (in my case, I cloned my old HDD so very fast). Please read the following articles for more information:
