  • I could develop Java Application for Blackberry device software version 5.0 to 6.0 JDE

    Hi, expert,

I saw this line of the ' BlackBerry Java Development Environment - 4.7.0 - fundamentals Guide'.

    It is said:

    ===============================

With each major version of the BlackBerry Device Software and the FMV of BlackBerry, Research In Motion includes the
corresponding Java API and version of the BlackBerry® Java® development environment. The version of the BlackBerry device
Software determines the version of the BlackBerry® integrated development environment that you can use to develop
applications. For example, RIM released BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0 and BlackBerry JDE version 4.0 in even
time. BlackBerry JDE version 4.0 supports APIs that were introduced in BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0
    and BlackBerry JVM version 4.0.

The applications that you create by using BlackBerry JDE Version 4.0 only work on BlackBerry devices
running BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0 or later.

    =========================

The last sentence talking about version 4.0 of JDE. I think that would mean that I could not develop a java application on JDE 6.0 for Blackberry 5.0 version of the software, even if I do not use any new API to 6.0. However, it seems to me that it is a useless limitation. Could someone throw some lights on it?

I'm going to agree with superdirt here.

I have the 5.0 OS update of applications work well on OS 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 of the OS OS phones.  I try not to recompile for levels of the OS, if I can, and so far I've been perfectly safe with OS 5.0 running on the later levels of the operating system.  So you should be able to get away with just using OS 5.0.

Not that it is important for you, but I just thought I documents some historical information about level changes.  .

As far as I know it 2 change cod in the file format, one to the 4.0 OS and the other in OS 4.2.  Therefore, if you want to run anything in OS 6.0 or above, it must be compiled in OS 4.2 or higher.  Again, I have applications compiled to OS 4.2 running on OS 6.0, without no problem devices.

There have been changes to the API - the result is that the code that works in OS xx does not work in OS yy where yy is after xx.  I hit a few of them and have so far managed to rework the code so that it works very well on both levels of the operating system.  In general it is things that I do wrong anyway, as the older operating systems (from memory) are not as strict on when the event Thread must be used.

The problem with OS 4.7 compatibility is an impact and to get more of this, for devices touch screen only, I compile using OS 4.7.  If an application that uses only the functionality that was available in the OS 4.2, I compile on OS 4.2 for non touch screen phones and OS 4.7 for touchscreen phones.  And everything works fine.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to make a URL shortcut for Blackberry device homescreen for delivery

Hi, I did some research and it seems confused. So I thought I would ask here.

As we know to Blackberry 6.0, there is possibility to save a URL as a shortcut to the home screen.  The URL will be different for each device, so it could be sent to the user via email and they might click on it and open it in the browser and save on the home screen.

However my question is how to do this automatically. Could press us the shortcut (different URL for difference appliances) through the BES Server? Is there another way if there is no BES Server?

By running this c# application: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Push-Development/Sample-code-A-simple-C-push-appli..., I am capable of pushing the a url shortcut to both Blackberry 6.0 and 5.0 simulators. This would allow us to push different URLS for different devices.

  • BlackBerry classic help! How to reset the password for the device

I tried to change my password for the device, and then I pressed cancel. I changed head to change my password.   My phone has allowed me to use my original password. The next morning, I typed my password and the phone kept saying incorrect password.  How I change my password for the device?

When you get to 5 or 6 incorrect attempts the device prompts you for blackberry. This is a safety feature to avoid wiping the device accidentally, and also so that you can see if you enter characters, you think that you enter.

See if the device is to invite you to enter blackberry. If so, do it and then you should power try again the password.

And if you left the password change and that he has not really changed the password, then your password is always the same as before, no different. Be careful and make sure that you enter the characters that you intend to enter.

  • BlackBerry not available passport for this device

    Hello

When I 10 Viber or Amazon's Kindle in the world of BB I see the message "Not available for this device" and I can't download them. As far as I know, these applications must run on the Passport. Then why I see this message?

    Thank you
    Peter

You won't get those BBWorld.  You can not even them to the Amazon store.  You must install the snap on your device.  It only takes a moment to do, and then you will have access to all the applications you want from the Google game store.

  • BlackBerry software after security wipe, BlackBerry link does not identify my backup file as valid for the device

I had trouble with my Z10, then I backed up with BlackBerry link (which seemed to work creating a file close to 1 gigabyte) then I did a cleanup of security: when I rebooted, I went through the installer until the end, then the element 'Restore' has been enabled from the context menu of the device.

When I click on 'Restore' after few seconds the bed message "no backup is available for this device.

Is there a function "no, really, RESTORE THIS FILE ' emergency can I call it? I don't want to have to redownload all my apps and reconfigure the whole device.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply... I did some additional checking and I confess that sometimes Windows file permissions are strange and mysterious to me... for some reason, Windows Home Server share where I write my backups to was ' write only ' BlackBerry-link point-of-view... when I searched and had difficulties, just pick it up and copy the file, I added my user login to the official list of the users 'Total control' on this file. , and then BlackBerry link found the file very well... now is restoration.

Sorry for the false alarm, but maybe this will help someone else in the future :-)

  • Made on emulator ripple 9860 and real device 9860 user interface is different for blackberry OS 7.0

    Hi all

I have developed a hybrid application that works fine on Android for almost all the resolutioh which I have supported.

For blackberry, I am building and pacakging an application using the ant tool. During the installation of file .cod devive 9860 having OS 7.0, landing page UI get distorted. Running on the ripple 9860 device, UI reneders correctly.

Please clarify that ripple is to check the user interface on differnet devive resolution or just for the pacaging and building application.

    Thanks in advance

Usually the user interface between ripple and a device will be, although there may be small differences. Remember that the unit is running the BlackBerry WebKit application on an ARM architecture, while the ripple uses the implementation of WebKit in Chrome on an architexture that corresponds to your operating system. While the bot Webkit implementations, there may be differences in the way they make; all the more up-to-date the implementation on OS 7.0, your implementation of desktop browser is likely.

That being said, there is not usually very big differences; specifically, you mentioned the word distorted. Could you provide a comparison of the screenshot of what you're talking about?

In most cases, ripple should provide solid representation, but is always recommended to test on a simulator/device.

  • BlackBerry 10 latest Blackberry Device Software for my device

where can I find what is the latest version of the software for my device and what has changed (change log)

In many ways it is the expression use the latest OS Version (besides sometimes errors returned in later versions)

My administrator has disabled the OS-updates so now the device is not possible.
Also a log of the changes appear not so that I wouldn't have any idea if the update would give me a chance to solve a practical problem.

Hello and welcome to the community!

'Later' is a variable term, not a constant. Many entities control releases of OS packages to end users. BB releases all OS packages all over the world at the same time, but others (often the carriers) control the last stage of the release to their end-users. Therefore, 'later' is often different for different people, even on the same exact device.

In addition, your situation is complicated by the administrator... we have to assume, you are a user of enterprise/BES, and as such, your administrator is indeed even more control over what is put at your disposal. You must never proceed without their cooperation... it is quite possible that there is some specific reason that they prohibit updates (for example, they might have internal special applications that require a specific device OS in order to work). But, despite everything, you work with them for all of your needs to update the device.

So, with all that as preface, the only answer we can provide is that 'later' BB's OS 10.3.2.2813, but it has so far adopted only by a single carrier (Sprint in the USA) and only for a single device (Q10). But, as always, there are utilities created by users smart to allow anyone on any medium and with any device to adopt more "later" that BB was released.

Regarding the change, who are notoriously difficult to find logs. Here are the most recent that I found:

Note that, as with all official documentation, it is listed not by the real value of the OS, but rather by the value of the version of the software. If you need to understand the difference to be sure that you look at the correct things. Reference:

So, even once, you very much to include your administrator in your decision-making process. This is especially true if you decide to switch to the 10.3.2 management of the OS, because that adds to the significant complication of the protection feature against theft, which requires that you 100% know your BBID credentials... If you do not, then you can restore your useless device to anyone, including yourself. Reference:

    Good luck!

  • Charger for blackBerry Smartphones Application detects not device

Hello, I have a Blackberry Torch 9810 and when I connect it to my Windows 7 laptop. device is detected by the computer, and I am able to access all my files, & add/remove files as I want. However, when I use Blackberry Desktop manager or BBSAK, or run the Application Loader. the three programs cannot detect the device. When you use the Application Loader, where it should say "COM1" or "USB - PIN: UNKNOWN", it's white, & you can't select anything. I'm trying to do two things. Number one: back up my data device & apps; and number two: reload the new OS on the device. -Have you already uninstalled/re-installed Blackberry Destop Manager 7.1 - have installed the USB drivers & modem-(ordinateur n'a aucun problème de détection de périphérique, & me pour accéder àles données de l'appareil) - have already uninstalled/re-installed device Blackberry-device manager is BB Torch 9810; Software is 7.1 Bundle 1997 (v7.1.0.694, platform 5.1.0.507) any suggestions would be appreciated... Thank you!!

Hello and welcome to the community!

My apologies for the delay... this site is not a site to paid support, but rather a community of volunteer users who also have their lives to live. Sometimes, things get through... we don't intend to be the case, but sometimes it happens. Apologies that this happened to you.

    I suggest this thread:

It begins with a process to start properly, and there is an exchange of views. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work... but it worked to much to solve the problems they have. You could add to it the use of Revo or another tool to remove own software... There are cases where things are left behind, and if they are corrupt, they can prevent the resettlement work correctly. The goal is to completely, remove from your PC, everything that is in no way, shape, or form associated with BB (registry entries, ignored of records, etc.).

    Good luck!

  • Additional applications of blackBerry Smartphones No. designed for your device found

    Hello

I get the, msg "no additional applications designed for your device not found" when trying to install new software via my Desktop Manager. I read a thread that says I have to install BlackBerry software for the current device.   It seemed to work for the individual with the question.

    The post office is: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&message.id=...

Well, I would like to download the software for mine, but my carrier/provider don't showup on the BlackBerry site.  My carrier is AlaskaDigitel.  Is there some generic download that I could use?  My Office Manager can show what software is installed on my device, like Google Maps, etc.. He simply refuses to install the software. The things I installed were facilities OTA.

Here is a little info that can help you to understand what I see:

    I have a BB 8130 Pearl
    v4.3.0.127 (Platform 3.1.0.73)

I think that there is something wrong & I just don't recognize the simple fix for it. Could someone help me?.
I opened the Desktop Manager, click on the Office Manager & watch the
    Tab 'general '.
    BB Desktop manager: 4.3.0.15

    "Components" tab
    BBDevice Manager: 4.3.0.7
    BBDevMgr: 4.0.0.1
    RIM USB driver: 4.0.0.2
    RIM USB Serial Driver: 2.1.0.4
    Application loader: 4.3.0.13
    RIMProgram: 1.0.1.35

There is nothing in the tab "Device Software"<=Is this="" the="">

Everything "Looks" right to me, but I am very, very new to this.
    Thank you
    ~ Roystreet

Yes, that's the problem.  You need the OS installed on the computer (so it will show in the tab of the device software) in order to get rid of this error.  You can use any OS for your device model, regardless of the carrier.

Use the link below to find a carrier CDMA which offers the 8130 and has a download for 4.3.0.127.  Download it, install it on your computer.  Then go into c:\program files Research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."  This file prevents the installation of your device carrier operating systems.  Deleting the file will allow DM recognize as valid for your device.  It does nothing else, so it is safe to delete.  Once you have deleted the vendor.xml file reconnect the device to the PC and launch the Desktop Manager/Application Loader.  You should be good to go.
