  The laptop was working fine with all my programs (including Skype) with Windows 7 - provided operating system with the laptop.   I ended up fixing myself, but for someone who has this problem...

  Press windows key + r to bring up the Run menu

  Type in %APPDATA%\protector.exe

  Go to the Skype folder and rename it to Skype_old (or anything else, just not Skype)
