Slimware utilities is legitimate?

I was taken in slimware to update the drivers.  Is - is this legitimate?  Or is there a better and more confident upadate way.

Thank you

If the suggestions above do not help get rid you of this "bogus" program, please try Revo Uninstaller and MBAM (as suggested in the many related threads) which should take care of this PUPPY.

MMFA should detect as ' PUP. Optional.DriverUpdate.A'.

This > ' RemovePUP. Optional.DriverUpdate.A virus Removal Guide' may be useful.

AdwCleaner (a trustworthy anti-adware scanner) may also be a good idea to look for (and remove) for other Adware and other potentially unwanted programs (PUP), which may have been installed with or without your knowledge or consent.

Delete - not only "DriverUpdate' - but all 'SlimWare Utilities' that have perhaps been installed (SlimCleaner, for example?), with or without your consent.

I hope this helps.

I have Windows Vista on this computer and I was informed that my drivers were updated.  Where can I get these drivers?  I tried Slimware Utilities but kept shut down my system so I cancelled them.  I don't know where to find these drivers.

    Hello

Don't answer on 3rd party programs you download from the Net that tells you the drivers are up to date, etc.

You must obtain the Software Driver from your computer or hardware manufacturer, not through Windows Update (with the exception of Microsoft put updated material), as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft leverages the hardware manufacturer 3rd party to provide them.

Access the site on your computer or equipment manufacturing > Driver and Software Support Section > search your computer or hardware model number > then your operating system > locate the correct drivers > download and install.

    Examples.

    Hi Kathleen,

    1. you remember when exactly you have installed this program?

    2. don't you see that if this program is listed in the programs and features?

It seems that it is a fake program and installed without your notice. You can try to uninstall this program, if it is listed in programs and features.

    Uninstall or change a program

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/uninstall-or-change-a-program

Now more than one antivirus program can also create conflicts. It is ideal to keep an up-to-date antivirus on the computer.

I suggest also to run a virus scan and make sure you computer is protected and secure.

Note: If infections are detected during the scan, there is a risk of data loss because infected files will be deleted.

  • Microsoft Security Essentials re: Avanquest registry Utilities Professional

In February 2010, I installed registry Utilities Professional of Avanquest ("ORS").  I used it every week since that time without difficulty.

In June 2010, I installed Microsoft Security Essentials ("MMS") and in the initial round, the only recommendation was uninstall PRU which I agreed to.

He did uninstall the desktop icon that I previously used to manually run the ORS; However, in programs and features, the outermost Regions and a "Compatibility Patch" ORS are still reported.

    Issues related to the:

    1. Why does want MSE uninstall ORS?
    2. Are there known issues with RUP?
    3. If RUP is a registry self cleaner, how I now access and reinstall the desktop icon?

My OS is Windows Vista Edition Home Premium, version 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3

    Thank you.

    This is * not * a legitimate registry cleaner, because there isn't * n *.
    legitimate registry cleaners.

Registry cleaning programs are * all * snake oil. Cleaning of the
registration is not necessary and is dangerous. Let alone register and
do not use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
What software record cleaning suppliers are trying to convince you,
have unused registry entries is not really make you hurt.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner by mistake
delete an entry you need is much greater than any potential benefit
    It can have.

Let me stress that neither me nor anyone else who warns the
use of registry cleaners never said that they always cause
problems. If they have always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

The problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
important * risk * to have a problem. And since there is no
benefits of using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
    good deal.

  • Possible malware on Mac - is Adobe Flash Player install Manager application legitimate?

I have a macbook pro and I am running 10.10 OS. My browser is Safari 9.1.

Flash player NPAPI plugin version 21.0.0.242 is installed.

Flash PPAPI plugin player - is not installed.

Protection service 5/7/16-a identity to which I am subscribed sent a message saying that my Adobe password has been hacked. I changed the password.

05/15/16, 1 AM-while you browse using Safari a popup appears saying that it needed to update my flash player. (Stupidly), I clicked on "OK".  The window asked if I wanted to install the MacGuard, MacSecurity and another application. I clicked on 'no' to each, then "continue." He then asked my administrator password to install Flash Player. Well I type the password, and I closed the window we'd send her to install some files which warned me that something was wrong. At the end of the installation has changed my Yahoo homepage. I ran Malwarebytes. Malewarebytes identified some suspicious files which I deleted. Then I restarted my computer.

I just noticed a file in my Utilities folder called Adobe Flash Player install Manager. It was created on 09/05/2016 and changed 12/05/2016. I don't remember installing this application. Also, I have "notify me to install updates" and I don't remember notification.  Is Adobe Flash Player install handle (located in the folder Utilities-see below) an application legitimate or should I delete it? When I impulsively tried to remove a few minutes ago, asked me my admin password. Before we continue I hope get some forum members advice. It belongs in the utility folder or do I have to remove it using my Admin password?

    Utilities folder image.jpg

Thanks a lot for any assistance.

    Hello

Unfortunately, it does not appear you have received a notification of update of Flash Player false as MacGuard MacSecurity not the third-party products available for installation of Flash Player and the official Flash Player installer modifies not the browser's default homepage or the favorite search engine.

The official Flash Player installer has an application called Adobe Flash Player install by in the utilities directory, however, at this stage, it is difficult, at best, to know if this file was created with the Flash Player installer legitimate or not.

I have recommended to perform a clean uninstall.  See the FAQ How to perform a "clean installation" of Flash Player in Mac OS X for orientation.
